it's not that, it's $5.5 trillion -- and it's not paid for based on the joint committee on taxation, only $2 trillion is raised in revenue. these are vast entitlements that transform the united states, it's the end of the american dream. there is universal by basic income in here, a child tax credit that would go on forever, goes to the affluent. there are other elements in here that change the foundation of the way we work and live. the american dream is about striving and moving up and working hard. none of these entitlements go on well into the future are tied to work. it encourages people to essentially sit at home. that being said, a failure of this would be a great success for the democrats next year and the biden administration. we've artie spent $6 trillion, another $1 trillion with the infrastructure. inflation is the number one concern for voters.

82% are concerned about it, extremely or very concerned. that's more than coronavirus, afghanistan, unemployment, you name it. if this dies, he keeps inflation in check. real wages have been falling all year, so adjusting for inflation, people are earning less money. i'm not going to steal your thunder, but there's one headline from today -- dana, i'm team you up -- the dollar tree headline. >> dana: did you hear about that? the dollar tree is a popular store. you could see this as a barometer of what's happening. they announced after several months, saying "we are not going to increase prices." they were going to move everything up from dollars $0.25 to $1.50 to cover costs. when that happens at the dollar tree, everyone will know. >> jesse: don't they have to change the name? challenges are also driving up costs. my family business in memphis, senior home business, we are having problems getting cash because of the issues with china. certainly, some of these pressures are driving up prices. president biden -- a lot of presidents -- president bush offered tax cuts. i was in congress when they passed. they had to be renewed, and were under president obama. i think it's good to let some things expire in congress. you forced congress to go back and forth with people and litigate. i'm not for the $3.5 trillion. it's too big. i don't necessarily think spending $3.5 trillion is totally wrong, but on the things they want to spend it, i don't think they are serious enough. the universal -- saving families, investing in child care, there is important things for a lot of people who want to work in our country. different people have gotten off on process and this whole thing. i think republicans win -- the party arguing against the big bill from arguing process is

"the wall street journal" had the best take this morning on biden. he wants to take credit for the pullout, which a lot of americans agree -- me included, i didn't think we should be there forever. what he doesn't want to do is take credit for the way in which he decided -- he is the commander-in-chief, we can fact fact-check that -- but he does not want to take credit for the disastrous method he did it, and through the military under the bus. he has put his military in this awful spot where they have to sit up there and massage the obvious answers. "did you tell the president to leave this way"? "no." they can't say that so what do they say? "maybe he heard it wrong." it is so cowardly. why not just say "listen, i made a mistake. i wanted to get out. i cared about the lives of --"

it's insane that i'm giving him political advice. i lost my run for office. say "i made a mistake, we screwed up. we are going to rectify." one other thing, a color in my radio show said this. he called up and said "this merely character, he called china and was going to warn them about a nuclear attack. someone should ask him to come help someone in congress is listening. they warned you about the whole wuhan virus thing? they didn't, so it's a one-way street." guy guy, smart guy, decent american, but not the guy for this job. the white house has not understand that we have a crises at our border and he's not managing it well. in fairness, there is no policy to manage. the white house has to articulate and promulgate a policy. the president has to lay it out to the party, has to three important pillars. one, you have to build a wall. to democrats come to give them a wall. republicans, be willing to fund judges, immigration courts of the border. we have millions of people waiting years for their asylum cases to be adjudicated. let's let people know where, if they are going to have a chance to beat it or not. republicans, you have to invest in this hemisphere. we invest trillions in hemispheres around the world to stabilize, yet we don't invest in our own to invest. i think those three, you cannot get to a path to citizenship until you have those things settled. right now, there is a lot of nonsettlement.
