in october the taliban and said they would not work with the united states when it comes to suppressing or fighting isis which should be no surprise to the caliban which is also a terrorist organization but where does that leave us when it comes to national security. >> it leaves us very vulnerable. look at the weapons we left behind in afghanistan, look at the fact that afghanistan prior to our occupation was a training ground for terrorist activity, for the taliban, isis activity, so much can go wrong in afghanistan. we spent all this time and dollars money in afghanistan and just walked away and did it in a fashion that tactically an invitation for terrorists to come back to afghanistan and create all sorts of bad activity

>> welcome back. and afghan women's soccer team recently touching down in the uk after months of trying to escape the talent and run country. former afghan women's soccer captain played a key role getting them to safety and she joins me live. thank you for what you did. you are a true hero. how are the girls and their families doing? >> they are doing fine. yesterday we placed them together. they were so happy and together with their families want to watch the game and the football club, the families were so happy. this time they had tears in their eyes.

>> there was a time they did not have tears of joy, those tears were different, tears of fear, tears of pure brutality they endured. can you describe what those girls and their families endured? >> yesterday i had a talk with them and they started crying and they said one thing that was very painful, trading the national cup to participate in a central asian cup. all prepared to travel to the national scene and the last day of training where the taliban attacked and took over the city and it was a nightmare that we had to leave everything and escape and hide. the families were brutally beaten, some family members taken by the taliban.

houses were bombed down. they are traumatized, their journey was not easy. for many months they were on the way to the uk. >> think about that. families brutalized because a group of girls want to play soccer. that is horrific. what was the reaction of the girls and their families when the us pulled out of afghanistan? >> it was a nightmare for so many people especially the women of afghanistan because the women of afghanistan always the women and children in general good people, are victims of long-term war in afghanistan. for example when the taliban arrived the first thing they did is took the right to education from women. the rights of having basic human

rights, practicing basic human rights they took from them. women who after a long time of work, study and development, they were independent but now they're back at home, housewives dependent, to go to school, to go to work or sports, everything is taken from them. women who are activists, who are activists, using their platform, their lives were in danger. >> do the girls and their families feel america betrayed them? >> when the international community went out of afghanistan the first goal in afghanistan, they set our country betrayed us, the world betrayed us.

we did everything possible to participate actively in society but have no more protection. the show is over. everyone is going home and we left the streets. todd: the work of getting these girls and their families out. an odd coalition of teammates became together, you had rabbis, kim kardashian but at the end of the day was you. how do you pull this off? >> it was so difficult. to take the risk and the leadership, to cross the border, to take one step after another but to coordinate and support the team but i am so happy, we

were very lucky, great minded people came together. thinking like a family, they supported and together as good as possible. todd: was there a time you thought you couldn't pull this off? >> yes. i remember when the team was on the way to the airport they were supposed to go to qatar and the explosion happened at the airport. they had to get off the bus, we had to find another solution. i remember i tried and didn't know how to give them up. it was so difficult and i felt so hopeless thinking they are waiting for me, to give them the next decoration, the next meeting is a leader i don't know what to do.
