homicide is way up, attempted murder are done, lowest ever. how is homicide? unbelievable. >> jesse: it's the same people, it's not like thousands and thousands of people, it's a same couple hundred guys doing the same crimes and getting back out. >> dana: you hear from police that are able to speak on camera or in the newspapers that they are saying it's demoralizing for them. they go out and do all the hard work but they know they will be back on the street the next day and then they commit additional crime. lori lightfoot just said is like what alec baldwin said last week when he said that the cinematographer whom he killed was to blame for the direction, i mean, do you not want to have retail stores on madison avenue in chicago? michigan avenue, excuse me, chicago. it's a beautiful street and it has been a hallmark of a place where chicago is a wonderful place to live and it's going to be a great place to visit, but if you are worried as an employee about going to work because you are free for your life, or if you are a customer

and you think, maybe it's just better not to go into the store and i will buy it online. they are going to drive more and more people out and that hurts a small business people because they have those jobs that they want right next to the fancy ones so they can get the foot traffic. the foot traffic is a career criminal where you are not going to sell anything. >> jesse: so laurie is pushing the crime on the south side, as long as it's on the south side, everything is fine, now it's up in nice retail areas in the miracle mile in chicago and now she is saying it's your fault. it's your fault, bloomingdale's, louis vuitton. >> harold: why do you look at me when i say that? >> jesse: i'm looking at you, harold. >> tyrus: it is a compliment. >> harold: louis vuitton is a nice store. i would say this, you are right. everything that has been said is right, the most alarming thing -- looking for a city official is what you just said about this, the time that it's going to take if we decide to fully fund the police as we should as a nation.

if you are mayor right now in a big city would have to look at the rear four things on the table, if you did have a bell reform package passed over the next year, how do you look at it? we want to try to protect nonviolent offenders, what we are doing is enabling violent offenders to get out, we have a mental health crisis in the country, we have talked about this at the table, and mayors and others, if i was head of the mayor's association i would appeal to our congressman and senator and governor to help us figure out how we have some comprehensive way to deal with the mental health crisis on our streets as well and finally even with the 18 month challenge we have, maybe we add some retired officers that come back, i know that you talk about many moving outside to the big cities, what can we do to incentivize some of these trained officers to come back until we are able to get those who wish to go into the profession a noble and honorable profession to do that? and mayors have to rebuild the

trust between communities and police officers. and when i was growing up i wanted to be a police officer coming to talk about wanting to be a police officer, that's what i wanted to do. you now don't have as many kids saying that, as many diverse kids in the diversity in the nation that you have to have police officers that come from different backgrounds, so i get her frustration, but she was willing to sit as mayor and i hope she has a chance to correct and she will, we have to look at it holistically, i just don't think we are. >> jesse: wrap it up, katie. to be on the left is crime is on full display, they don't believe that it's a problem, because they believe and replacing it with chaos that which is exactly what they are doing now, none of this is happening in a vacuum, it's happening in blue cities, what else do you a lot of these blue cities have? very strict gun control. when you look at what is happening and you have this holiday party for example, not just in stores, but you have criminals into a holiday party and robbing everybody of a

holiday party or physical therapy offices in beverly hills, all of these guys coming in with guns, robbing the doctor, taking people in the physical therapy office, there is no return, they are not going to be there and not afraid of getting arrested because they will be released and they know that they have been put in a possession where they are not allowed to hold a firearm without a number of hoops, but there can't be or people will be vilified by the very people like mayor lori lightfoot, and what people have seen before, for the mayor of chicago to say that to the stores need to hire more security, okay, what do you want them to do then? or will they be allowed to be armed? probably not. do you want store owners to arm to themselves and do what kyle rittenhouse did? defend the property of a car owner? the whole philosophy, it's not just one thing, it's not the bad das to defund the police, it's defunding people's ability to defend themselves and then

lead them and explain what your plan is and how and why your vision is better than their opponents. right now the opponent democrat is really a nondemocrat vision, if you look at the most recent polling from the journal, people are disappointed with what we think are the priorities of the country, they have to match what everyday americans are thinking what they are buying at the grocery store in the pump and the gas station, what their kids are learning in school come we can still win this thing, it's 11 months away, i think about where we were 11 months ago today and in a very, very different place. a lot will have to change. i would focus on the border. i would focus on the economy, and it would focus on covid, you focus on those three things and you put the personnel around you that can help you do those things, you have a fighting chance. >> dana: there is been no federal response on crime. >> harold: some other things in the last segment sm array of

>> katie: about hanging together and hanging separately, it's hard for them to hang together when they have so many different factions in the party and you've seen this play out with bill back better and having really hard time getting that across the finish line and when it comes to democrat saying i would like to not retire and keep my job, they have their own polling and the issues that are affecting their voters and hearing from the constituency is are falling their offices every single day about inflation, kyrsten sinema, arizona, democrat, she's one of the people holding up joe biden's agenda in the senate, and says it's a real problem for people in arizona and the administration is not addressing it properly, they are looking at their own numbers and trying to distance themselves from the president and hoping that their votes in the way that they interact with people calling their office will benefit them during the midterms. >> dana: if you think about last year they were screaming at each other over deep on the police saying this absolutely hurt us and then it just continued through 2021 and you see more of it.

to defend themselves, so it's not that this is just a russia thing, china is launching when it comes to moves that they want to be making. >> jesse: he is distracted from china with what vladimir putin is trying to play with ukraine, which is annoying we should be looking at specific, so they surrounded the root ukraine and if they want to invade and conquer, they can, but it will be so brutal on blood again costly for the russians that it will really almost destroy that country, so dana talked about it. we have been playing a game with ukraine, we dangle nato membership over ukraine to try to screw with putin's head, and it destabilizes him. he is off balance, because they need ukraine and nato, but we play the dance, because we don't really want to ukraine and nato, it depends on the country, it's flat and we will roll right through it. we don't want it, but we pretend like we want to end and it makes him go crazy and he does this crazy stuff i just think we

and sacrifice of world war ii veterans. they flu 63 world war ii veterans including pearl harbor survivors to the pearl harbor memorial in hawaii. the veterans received a hero's welcome in hawaii where they were honored with a special event featuring a red carpet walk, chef cooked meals and entertainment. also made several appearances as the commemoration sites at military installations the best defense foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to helping military veterans and their families. american airlines and the gary sinise foundation also worked with the foundation to make the special trip happen and my friend jack carr who is a former navy seal was there this week volunteering to help these guys get to and from. thank you for their service, the greatest generation and nice to be able to celebrate with them. >> jesse: it sure is. harold ford jr.? >> harold: check this out. a loose cow was spotted wandering in traffic in elgin, illinois. police said it escaped from a trailer while being transported to its new home.
