wrote in the "new york post." when you talk about the border patrol making deals with the devil. what do you mean? >> well, due to the shortages of our border patrol staff down at the border, they have had to make prearrangements with cartels and coyotes to ensure the safe transport of migrants into our country. and that's both for the safety of border patrol agents as well as migrants crossing. it's the only way the border patrol agents, i'm told, their hands are tied. they are not allowed to touch the migrants as they are crossing over. and the on thing they can do is really give directions and direct them to the processing centers. >> carley: wow. >> todd: so basically under the trump administration these border patrol agents were doing the job of securing the border but now, through no fault of their own, i might add, they have been forced into literally becoming travel agents for the cartels. is that an accurate assessment? >> that's correct. they are i guess if we want to

call them concierge services. helping with the safe transport of migrants entering the country, again, you know, it's not perfect but it is the only way that we can ensure that both the agents as well as the migrants crossing over are both safe. otherwise, you are going to get scenes like babies being dropped over the fence again and all sorts of just awful things. so, again, not a great situation, but it provides safety for both sides. >> carley: i think that border patrol, that is a stunning fact that you just said that border patrol is actively coordinating with members of cartels is unbelievable. and it really shows the gravity of the situation and why so many border patrol agents are frustrated rye right now. you also did a lot of work in tracking migrants in terms of them going from these processing centers to the airports to on

the flights and that part of their journey. what disturbs you the most about their journey and it sounds like they were giving a lot by the government and these ngos as well. >> that's right. i was told about there is about 30 government funded ngos and churches helping the migrants enter the interior of our country. they are providing everything from food to airline tickets, some of them are -- have handlers that help them travel the interior cities of our country. what struck me the most was well, you know, the first two days of my travels with national security experts was very clinical and informational. it was really on the third day when i was at mcallen airport where i sat next to migrants traveling into the country it was the first time i saw their faces up close. up until that point they were just illegal immigrants coming

through. when you see their faces it really broke me down a bit. they were young girls who are heavily pregnant, wanting to have birthright citizenships. things like that. and you would see the pure exhaustions on their face. that was heart breaking. so it's a real humanitarian story here. the other thing that i found that the ngos provided was cash and prepaid credit cards. all sorts of seabs, it was surprising to find they were coming from government funded ngos. >> todd: the biden administration insists this is the most humane thing to do it. is this humane at all. >> the only ones benefiting from all of this are really the cartels and coyotes. the migrants get to cross over but they enter a life of servitude and, you know, the u.s. government and taxpayers are paying for all of this.
