school board president and a school board member. michael, let's begin with you. this superintendent had support, we've seen on the screen. in the end, why did you decide to terminate him? >> even though someone is popular doesn't mean they are the right ceo for the district. we had a strong mandate to move in a different direction and thought we needed to move in that direction whether the superintendent was coming with us or not. >> todd: kayley, why did you vote to -- the superintendent. >> i grew up here and my daughter is a student, i had concern around board policy, masks and i wanted implementation by the superintendent and wanted to have a say in all of that. after getting elected to be on

the board, i wanted to work with the superintendent and after put in resolutions for the kids and resolution around equity policy, i didn't see clarity and alignment i wanted to. that choice has been made, it's done and i'm hoping as a board, we can join together in unity and move forward for our kids and our community and hopefully we'll get to a place where we're on the right track. >> todd: school board directors are sfoert thanksgiving fired superintendent and issue third degree statement, removing cory wise, the individual's name, without cause or opportunity for public engagement and despite pushback from teachers, students and staff is failure of governance.

how do you respond to that? >> what validated the decision, was when the union got involved last week. things were leading up to the determination, we had a big meeting and they are running a play book we will see not just across colorado, but across the u.s. and that play book is create false inform sxagz manufactured outrage, and pursue collective bargaining agreements. when you look at union demand, there was a sick-out here last week and walk-out by students this week. first thing on there was not the superintendent, it was educational equity. we tsdz bring us more information, that is the word that the urinion put out, we had rescinded the policy. all we did was pass a resolution to say to work on this.
