what is most concerning to you? >> well, eric, what's most concerning is that president putin could be considering unsaiding its -- invading its neighbor. totally unprovoked invasion, killing tens of thousands of ukrainians, civilians and military, but also, eric, many russian soldiers will die. so president putin has to be thinking about the effect on his own society. of going to war against what he says is a brotherly nation. i mean, he's called, he's called ukraine part of the russian nationment you -- nation. ukrainians differ, ukrainians do not think of themselves as part of russia. ukrainians think of themselves as a sovereign country with their own history, their own heroes,s their own language, their own culture. it's a long history, eric. ukraine goes back farther than russia. so the ukrainians are proud, and
1:07 pm
what you just heard from your reporter there is they're determined. they're going to defend their land. and what worelies me and us all is that president putin might if invade there and kill a lot of ukrainians. eric: you know the way of ukrainian thinking, you know the people, you know the officials. we saw in kyiv, for example, ukrainians will resist. civilian withs have been practicing. will they stand up, will they, indeed, fight, and what happens if putin has chewed off more than, you know, bit off a more than he can chew and russian soldiers come back in body bags? >> eric, you're exactly right. you're exactly right. in think case there will be russian soldiers who will die in this. first, they will die at the hands of the ukrainian military, and the military, eric, as we know, has been fighting russians for eight years, and they're very good and they're much better now than they were eight years ago. so they will exact a toll on the invasion, on the invasion troops as they come into ukraine.
1:08 pm
so the ukrainian military in the first instance, but you're right, the ukrainian civilians, the population will resist fiercely, and they will make it very unpleasant. they will kill a lot of russians who are on their streets, in their villages, in their towns trying to occupy their country. so there will be, it will be very difficult for the russians to stay even if they get in. eric: so you could see potentially a street by street guerrilla warfare from civilians defending their homeland. >> that's absolutely right. they're preparing for that. i've talked to ukrainian friends who are going in and they're arming themselves. they're not panicking, eric, and your reporter made that clear, there's not a panic there. president zelensky, to his credit, this is a young, new politician, and here he is 42, 43, he's facing 100, 150,000 russians on his border, and he's not blinking. he's keeping calm.

1:11 pm
