their party is preachy, judgmental, and focused on cultural wars. they need to be more focused on republican attacks. so they advise they are giving democrats running in swing districts, the republicans say anti-cop and the d.c. say no i say you support law enforcement. the republicans accused of being open borders. they talk about all they want to keep border safe. the dcc telling democrats to be republicans. >> todd: it is crazy they need the kind of guidance that those general americans thoughts don't come instinctually to people because they've gone too far to the left. insanity. in the meantime speaking of too far to the left, president clinton with the new york state democratic party convention and her speech as some thinking she might be gearing up for another run in 2024. listen. >> should be clear to all of us that the struggle for unity and democracy is far from over.

member is blaming racism on this same people who voted her out of office want to silence color. london breed the mayor of san francisco, women of traveler leading the charge to recall these people. i think it can be overstated how important this is. san francisco only 7% of residents there are registered republicans. so these are liberal voters saying this liberal school board is too liberal. >> san francisco is the most liberal place in the country. you can go to the democratic national convention and not find as many democrats as you do in san francisco. when you prevent ultimately what the parents are upset about, which is their kids learning for two years. instead focus on things like the need to remove the horrible dianne feinstein name of this building. you may start to tick off some parents and that is exactly what happened here. it happened in virginia and if republicans are smart, they will

one is alvarez who was shot and killed by a man who opened fire on a robbery suspect. and grant is fighting for her life after shot and she was struck in the head. joining us now natasha grant, the aunt of the little girl shot, natosha, good morning to you. this is such a tragedy and i'm so sorry for what your families going through. tell us what happened to her. we heard this was a road rage incident? >> and right now, with the police department but apparently, it was a robbery and he went to the grocery store with his family and vehicles apparently started chasing them and started shooting at the back of his vehicle and went down a few exits. when he got off, he checked in the backseat to make sure everyone was okay. and that is when he noticed my niece was shot.

>> carley: should be shot in the head. how is she doing this morning? >> right now she is still in critical condition. she has chest swelling on her brain and in an induced coma. they want us willing to go to down once that happens, then they will check where she is at as far as trying to bring her out of the coma. >> carley: we are looking at pictures up for right now. so beautiful. what is she like? >> she is a very bright little girl. she has always wanted to help some but he'll make someone. it doesn't matter. if she sees you, she wants to help you. and outside doing yard work, she will go out there and start working in the yard, anything, just a bright little girl, she loves going to school, hanging out with her friends, and she always wants to be there with

you. >> carley: i saw in one interview she loves cartoons and believes in fairy tales. she will loves animals and wants to be a doctor. we pray she will reach that goal one day. less than a week after ashanti was shot another 9-year-old girl in houston was shot by a stray bullet and died. i couldn't believe it when i read that used in has the second-most homicide homicide deaths this year just after chicago. what is happening in houston? >> so, what i believe happened in houston and this is just my take on it, there was a law passed with guns originally and i had where no one had to get a background check that the crime would go up and it did. i just didn't think when that happened, it would involve my niece. >> carley: yeah, no family

♪ ♪ >> carley: i'm ashley strohmier with your headlines. the democratic candidate for mayor who survived a shooting attempt last week and the family is traumatized again. now that the accused shooter is free on bail. craig greenberg saying in a statement "it is nearly impossible to believe that someone can attempt to murder on monday and walk out of jail on wednesday. the man accused of opening fire at the candidate at his staff campaign headquarters is known as blm activist ted brown. brown was released from county jail 48 hours after shooting the lm activists paid his $100,000 bond. greenberg has made fighting crime the key focus of fighting crime and no one was hurt in the shooting. and black lives matter foundation suspended from

for being here. ut says it's all about academic freedom but you see this resolution goes against academic freedom. why? >> yeah, well, basically they found so much to suppress what anyone else can say on campus and beyond if you look at the reaction of the critical race theorists to parents and school boards and always about suppressing what others say. we have a policy now where all faculty for promotion and hiring are supposed to be expressing their support for the university of equity and inclusion as defined by the critical race theorist groups. they want representation on all the hiring and promotion committees. and that is not academic freedom. as soon as anyone starts pushing back and saying "no" we need to be free to do our thing and you can't impose your ideas, then they get worked up about freedom. and that sort of gets to me a little bit. >> todd: it is interesting how

freedom goes one way. professor, you work with the faculty members that voted this through peer they are your colleagues, why? that is the question i was come back to, why do they do this? >> well, we've had a shift in universities over the last few decades. a lot of people don't appreciate that so many faculty viewed themselves as activists firsts and educators and researchers may be second or third at best. and so, there is this mind-set of what we need to be doing is bringing about this specific set of social changes dictated by this odd theory that they built up, not educate children and adults and not provide education and not look objectively at facts. you have this activist for the tribe and so much of the university. >> todd: apparently they write a five figure check each year, five figures come at some point will go into six figures. when i write that check am i

paying for activism or what i thought i was getting which is teaching? >> you are paying for an awful lot of activism. there is a lot of activism and money that you are not paying but the state money that flows in from taxpayers. we had -- we found out they were using $100,000 state grants to provide, to create critical race theory training materials for four years old in preschool. that's not education. that is not real research. they wanted to check it to see if the materials were, but that is using your money as a parent, your money as a donor, your money from the legislature to just push their ideas. >> todd: right. >> for activism here that is what so much of the money is being used for now. >> todd: professor, you touched about this but i want you to drill down more. critics say look, these are adults with atomic learning in these classrooms, crt is something that adults should be

able to discuss at a high level college level. what is your response to that? >> the key is to understand the process the critical race theorist use as they get into an institution and they use the rules to make sure not that they have an opportunity to express their ideas, but that everyone has to be forced to adhere to their ideas. so they will take over classes. they will take over acquired classes. and you can't get to that class if you don't express the ideas that they want you to express. we have what are called flag rail hook to michael flag requirements and a flag committee, oh, yeah assigning activism qualifies you for the red flag. so it's not that, let's talk about classical liberal talk or postmodern philosophy. you must set your and your only option or perspective you can use as intersectional communism and if you don't get out of this class, you don't get this flag

know oversimplification and some of the news issues or distortion of the facts. and a different approach to what we can do with those 10 minutes in class. >> carley: yeah, one of the examples you gave to why you didn't think cnn 10 was the best option. the classroom with fallen oil prices but no mention of socialism which is pretty important. are the parents supporting this decision? >> very slim in our community. it should be political but it is. they are supporting us with the democrats that are opposing this to the point that it is causing terminal in the community and backlash in the schools. and the secretaries are getting phone calls. >> todd: well met, i think a lot of talents like that can relate to the situation going on in your community. you said that you will run out of concerns on a platform contentious school board election. why do you think you won?

>> i think it is about resignation with your constituency. if you put yourself out there and say what you want to do, and you will be accomplishing those goals and you have the right team to work with, that is the key, get the right people on there and you can do great things. >> carley: without a doubt come i hear you there. christine, teachers have a spare 10 minutes during homeroom. how are they going to use that? i understand teachers can still play patriotic videos and things like that? >> patriotic videos are there simply for pearl harbor or anything they feel is educational driven and could help the like furnishing the class for the day. we are not trying to micromanage at all, but you know, it seems like we use our time to do homework and doesn't always have the constant technology in your face. >> carley: alex, so many
