[laughter] will: we have known each other and been around each other for quite some time. you have a book called wake-up. focusing on these issues. i told you this yesterday. i respect that you are independent thinker. we disagree on many, many things. you are certainly an independent thinker. you are not afraid to make people angry or to say what you truly mean. but, have you had a conversion? do you feel like you have woken up in some way? or have you always been on these issues? >> i am probably, if anything, slightly on the liberal side. all right? i have never part myself into a partisan box. what i have felt is that people who claim to be liberals have become the very opposite of what
5:40 am
liberals are supposed to be. they have become illiberal. i call them the i will liberal liberals. this ultra woke cancel culture reality sweeping the world u.k., here, australia and so on. what it is designed to do is bring in a new form of fascism which is, the very thing liberals would say they are most against. here they are canceling and shaming and vilifying people and trying to make people conform to the very narrow world view of how you should lead your life, what you should find funny, who you should admire. how you should speak in public. and the number of people that come up to me and say thank god you are out there making the clarion call for free speech. because if you don't have free speech, you don't have a democracy. and i see so many people now losing their job for expressing an opinion. i see so many people terrified of expressing an opinion. i think you are right. i need to do a show where every
5:41 am
night i'm taking this on. i want to cancel cancel culture. i want to get back to a democracy where you and i used to cnn could go at each other whether it be about gun control or whatever it may be, we have a may have a different view. at the end of it go and have a beer together. that's what democracies used to be based about. the strong exchange of opinions, when i see what's happening on university campuses right now. not just in america but in my country, too. it is terrifying. it is terrifying that any conservative voice is now just no platform. will somehow this is accept than students should only ever hear one opinion at university. a place where they are supposed to go and receive a wide ranging education with all views and then form their own. that's not what's happening now. i think you see it very low level of school when kids are very young. they are getting brainwashed very early age. getting brainwashed at university. they are coming out. they think this is a perfectly acceptable way to be. a different friend different view. you have to shame them and get rid of them and cancel them.
5:42 am
when did this happen to a gigantic democracy like america. the freedom of speech began really in this country in many base. if you look at what is was going on in the 1960s. the america was the vanguard of freedom of speech. rachel: i was on a reality show in the early 1990s. back then i was the only conservative on my show seven young people. it wasn't you are going to lose your job thing that's happening now. i remember i came out of that experience back in 1993, believing saying to myself wow, the myth of liberal tolerance. my roommates for the most part, the ones that claimed to be democrats and liberals were the most shaming, they just were not tolerant at all. now they just weaponized it. >> i completely agree. you mentioned the royals. actually what happened to me on that morning show in the u.k. just remind people if you didn't know about it, i after the oprah
5:43 am
whine-a-thon as meghan markle and prince harry whined for two hours how all of their life is in $11 million mansion in california and the trashing the royal family. trashing the monarchy keeping the titles from which they make all the money is rank hypocrisy. i was watching that, thinking well, that's a lie. that's a lie. that's a lie. and i said i'm sorry. i don't believe a word she is saying. meghan markle. everybody else on the show i was on said i do believe her. i think we should take everything -- there was a proper democratic debate. i was told i wasn't allowed to disbelieve her. even though she was plainly not telling the truth. this is where this ultra woke mentality goes. where even when someone is lying, if you call them out for lying or just say i don't believe you, that is now a cancelable offense where i was told you have to apologize and if you don't apologize, you have to lose your job. i said well, obviously i'm not going to apologize for something i believe. again it comes back to whether
5:44 am
you agree with me or not, whether you watch that whine-a-thon and say i believe every word she is saying or he is saying. i don't mind if you believe them. i don't want you canceled or lose your job because you say you believe people clearly not telling the truth. the other way didn't work. i have to believe. [fly over] pierce pierce this is fantastic. i have never been until last week i have never been to an football event. i prefer the real football no helmets. helmets. no padding. pete: easy. will football match super bowl last week. fighters like i'm on the set of top gun. will: next you know ar-15. >> things that happen number one. i'm very excited to be joining you guys. i think the show is going to rattle a few feathers. hopefully rattle a few feathers
5:45 am
with the liberal world who have gone completely illiberal. they become the people they dislike so farcical. pete: can't wait to see it get your thought on authoritarian instinct you are talking about justin trudeau up in canada. >> i have been on his case for years. this is a guy who actually said we can't use the word mankind anymore because it's offensive, because it has the word man in it. the word woman has the word man in it that would have been too complicated for his woke brain. justin trudeau king of woke. if meghan markle he is the king. trapped in own devices where he has no idea how to lead his country through what is ostensibly a peaceful protest by people who have a legitimate cause. i don't necessarily agree with a lot of what they are saying, i absolutely defend to the death their right to period of time iy have been doing.
5:46 am
trudeau by bringing emergency powers and having the police rounding them all up like it's some fascist state, this is what i'm talking about. this is a form of fascism going on. and, yet, he would profess to be the most liberal guy you would ever meet in your life. yet, is he behaving like a fascist. this is what i mean by the hypocrisy of the woke movement if you like. the woke brigade is that they say one thing, they say they stand for tolerance and fairness and equality and liberalism. and they behave in a completely different manner. and i find that -- what's happening in canada, these are shocking things. this should not be happening. and if you go and talk to canadians now. it's not just the conservative right who are complaining about this. a lot of people on the left are saying this is ridiculous. how can this be happening in our country? and this is what happens when you have a very woke leader who doesn't understand actually how to govern a country properly. it's -- i think it's a shamable to watch. will: i think we all look forward to hearing your own point of view on that show on
5:47 am
fox nation on these issues. before we lose you today. let's also talk about the news the day. we just saw at the beginning of this segment, trey yingst from ukraine. look, you are from the u.k. you are from europe. it's in essence closer to home for you -- for many americans, the major question we are asking ourselves right now what serves the american interest and what should be the american response your perspective? >> i think this is what happened here. putin is trying once again to reshape the european borders. and it is an outrageous situation where is he clearly about to attack and invade ukraine. he got away with it crimea, is he trying to do it again. i think he said things and this is a big problem for america. i think he looked to what happened in afghanistan last summer. he looked at how weak president biden was with that pullout. the devastation it caused. the chaos. throwing the afghan people back to the taliban walls in the way that he did. i think he is smelling weakness in an american president. that's why it matters. the world, nato, and europe need
5:48 am
a strong america right now to stand up to putin. to stand up to and make him realize he has to be made accountable. if he goes one inch into the ukraine and he is clearly going to by the look of a it. believes president biden intelligence saying is he about to do this. if he does, this america has to lead. america is the most powerful country in the world. and we in britain have great reason to be very grateful to the american people. for going back to world war ii. you know, and we will be there, i'm sure, with any action that the americans want to take on this. but america has to lead and president biden has to be a strong leader right now. if he blinks against putin, putin will eat him alive. and we have seen this happening for the last few years. someone has to stand up to him. because this is dictatorial behavior. this is a reshaping of the european land borders. rachel: when america sees that germany won't stand up to. >> they i totally agree. it's shameful. rachel: we can't care more about ukraine and europe than the europeans. >> i completely agree with you. the supine way that germany has
5:49 am
been behaving which will s. almost certainly linked to energy and pipelines and to their own self-interest, i completely agree. this is a time for europeans to stand up together but i do think if americans are watching what's it got to do with us. i think a rampaging russia has a lot to do with america. america has the power and the might and the military strength to actually and the economic power to do something about this if putin does decide to invade. this could be a catastrophic situation. you know, i think we are on the verge now potentially of major european conflict war. and i think that i would just urge president biden and the american administration do whatever you can and you have got make this guy accountable. otherwise, he will keep doing this. pete: the other argument is we have an american president right now who is not being held accountable for the fact that our southern border is wide open. millions of people are crossing. call it an invasion, call it what you want. it's hard to be invested in that
5:50 am
border a world away when our own border -- >> -- let me throw this at you. if he gets away with this and takes over you ukraine, what are the chinese going to think? what are they going to be doing and thinking about what they might want to take? are they going to look at taiwan and all these places you know what? are they going to look at taiwan and all these places you know what? they let putin get away with it we will have a little go we will have a little go ourselves. this is what happens if you show weakness. weakness. america has to stand. pete: i agree with you. what is america going to do. right now based on what joe biden has said. what does blinken need? we're not putting troops in there. who will? >> well, i think you have to punish him so severely, economically, one, that it is genuinely punitive and not a slap in the face. this has to be a global effort to say if you do this, these are the consequences and it's going to be ruinous for your economy and ruinous for russia. and you have to make him realize that putin, whether you love him or hate him and the russians, many of them love him. many people russia hated.
5:51 am
it doesn't really matter. he is demonstrably a strong leader for his country. you need to have strong leadership outside to deal with it america, you know, you have come to the rescue so many times around the world. and i understand why americans might be a little war weary. look, we just got out of afghanistan, all these things. i get all that mentality. this is a really serious situation now. and we need america to stand up and be strong and we need president biden to do the opposite of what he did in afghanistan last summer, which was so be weak and create chaos which i'm afraid will come back and haunt all of us. will: no doubt weakness led us to this moment. strong leaders respond to strength. and they take advantage of weakness. weakness led us to this moment. i think to your point what is acceptable strength american people going forward from this moment. rachel: energy in europe is the biggest problem, i think. it's not just the germans who are dependent on that oil and gas. it is also the other european countries as well. >> europe has to be strong, too. it's certainly not a one-way
5:52 am
street. i'm not saying america, you do our messy business. rachel: feels like that, pierce. feels like that. >> in a way i'm complimenting america. rachel: we can't be flattered into doing your work. >> you are the big dogs in the race. the question is not what what is happening in ukraine what happens after that. rachel: fair enough. >> signal to the world that he can get away with it, when will it actually become. pete: we're the big dogs in the race because you gutted your military to pay for welfare states and kept your borders open and effectively have been invaded as well. just because europe decided to step off the world stage doesn't mean every world problem is america's problem. >> i think nato is there to deal with it. pete: what is nato? i served with nato in afghanistan. we wore patches on our shoulders isaf. we joked i saw americans fights. collective response of nato isn't anything without america. >> i agree. pete: that's a real problem. >> let me ask you then as an american who served. and thank you for your service.
5:53 am
as an american who served. my brother is a british army colonel he served alongside americans in afghanistan and iraq. i'm aware of the history of all of this. what would you do about putin. given what's about to happen and given the message it will send if he gets away with it what would you do about it? pete: i wouldn't send american troops. >> what would you do? pete: have i about v. been out front of stronger about the consequences to your point. i would have done what donald trump did. turn to nato and say are you a real alliance or not? because right now you are not. you are a paper tiger. you don't actually have the troops and equipment or the will or the collective nature. you know more about this than i do the idea that european union really will be a collective fighting force. i know that's different than nato. it has to be rejune nateed if it's going to be relevant. >> donald trump on about the amount of money that the european countries are paying into nato. will: i'm sorry to interrupt you. this is great conversation. a spirited conversation. we were just about to go to trey

yingst, taking fire in eastern ukraine. reports right now. but his shot just froze again as you guys were speaking. reports he is taking fire in those trenches you saw a little bit earlier in your screen. you saw trenches trey yingst is embedded. it's freezing coming in and out we will get him back up on the screen. rachel: president pete hegseth would not have shut down the xl pipeline which also empowered putin. you can't say we need to stop putin and stop america from being the un. >> you are mistaken with someone who is trying to defend the europeans. rachel: i know. >> equal opportunity to whacking. whacking europe as well here. europe needs to step up as well. will: i believe we have trey from ukraine. i think that shot is up. all right, trey, we have you. tell us what's happening right now, trey. >> right now artillery rounds, guys we are moving back from the front. the ukrainian unit that we were with, started to take incoming

kilometers from where we are standarding right now. and just give me a second. i have to check in with my cameraman here. the fire that we have coming in right now is being fired from just a few kilometers away. russian backed separatists clearly identified there were a lot of people at that position and started to hammer it pretty heavily with artillery. you heard a few seconds ago. those explosions in the distance, those were incoming rounds. that's what the ukrainian military has been dealing with the past 48 hours. they say they are falling the protocols and it's russian backed forces you hear in the distance more explosions that are violating this agreement. remember, right now, ukrainian zelenskyy as at conference. asking for support for a possible russian invasion. president biden yesterday at the

white house, defense secretary austin today in europe, have both said president putin made up his mind. he plans to invade this country where we are at right now. pete: trey, what's the response from ukrainian troops that are there? they are taking incoming. are they returning fire? small arms or likewise artillery? >> the position that we are standing in right now, they are not returning fire. but we have been talking with a number of ukrainian troops. let's keep moving. [explosion] >> you hear that we have been talking with a number of ukrainian troops this week as we cover this story. and they are -- they say returning fire within the confines of the agreement. meaning there are certain weapons they are not allowed to use. i want to give you a little bit more information, guys about this scene. we were inside of a bunker when this artillery started coming in. talking with ukrainian forces.
5:58 am
the interior minister was the one here visiting troops. we were with his delegation. but as you can hear in the distance those russian separatists identified there were people at this location. they started to hit it quite heavily. let's keep moving. pete: can you hear that. >> you with hear artillery. [explosion] >> moving, move, i'm listening. >> back toward the main line? of ukrainian forces so that trench position was out front of the main line and now you are heading back to ukrainian forces? >> yeah. we are heading back to a forward operating base where the ukrainians are working out of -- this frontline has been expanding over the past 48 hours. but, again, the real concern
5:59 am
here is that -- one second, guys. let's go, move, move, move. those rounds are super close. i can hear you. will: as you can see this is absolutely incredible. this is incredibly tense. trey is running trying to catch his breath. can you hear how close some of these munitions are. trey, if you can hear us, what type of incoming are you taking? it looks like his shot is frozen as we speak. i don't know if he can still hear us. small arms fire? >> these are artillery rounds. will: artillery rounds. >> these are artillery rounds being fired by russian-backed separatists. it's really the only thing they have been using today. but -- 'get back to you later. we have got to get out of here.
6:00 am
pete: at the end of the day, trey, trey and our team's safety is first and foremost. we will continue to monitor what they're facing on the ground. but and he is moving the whole time. god bless him for what he is doing. trying to catch his breath. moving away from a bunker that's being targeted by russian backed separatists with artillery. right now they are not shooting back in part because they don't want to respond to that provocation, which is exactly what putin is looking for. they are heading hopefully closer to safety and we will check in with trey to make sure he is doing all right. will: a lot going on right now. daytona international speedway coming to life here in florida. as you can see a lot of tension there in ukraine. we are still setting on set here f-16s fly over and music.

>> it seems to me he was emphatic about that. americans believe this is about the start. why have all these troops on the border to walk away? he doesn't walk away from situations. he did it in crimea and georgia and will keep doing it. will: here's the great tension this morning. we are looking at the first land invitation since world war ii, we saw iraq invaded kuwait in the 90s. it is historically unprecedented what we are in the precipice of. we are wondering what the american response should be. americans are having that debate internally.
6:03 am
what about the uk? what will the uk do? >> boris johnson is under a lot of fire but he made a strong statement overnight. he made clear there would be serious consequences. he told the americans we are with you. no question the british support what action the americans decide to take. germany is being quiet and we think we know why. their own self interests. that's not good enough. germany is a massive country in europe. we are hearing nothing from them. britain will be there. if we need to be, we will be there with economic sanctions, going against the russian oligarchs with their dirty money. this is serious stuff.
6:04 am
putin does this because he gets away with it. when he grabs people's positions, the collective will has to stop the school bully. pete: you mentioned the relationship between russia and china. both are bullies. they have their arms around -- fighter jets over our position. it puts you in the scene a little bit. our elites have their arms around the boules. bill maher talks about -- he is absolutely right. how do we confront countries like communist chinese or the russians when our elites are happy to do business with them? >> a legitimate question.
6:05 am
bill maher hit the nail on the head about liberal hypocrisy. why are they sucking up to china the time when we know about human rights? it is being bought off. this moral touch phone they have about these things seems hypocritical. rachel: another problem. americans have to be on board for this to happen. the president says -- white we have troops there if we are not going to use them? the last two years, i say this as an american citizen. i don't trust my government. my government has lied about so many things related to covid and the pandemic. they've not been transparent. we have a history of weapons with mass distraction that were never there. this administration more than any other has lost the trust of

6:07 am
you have the taliban riding into the country and the oppression of women which is out of control and outrageous because of a terrible decision by president biden. the international community doesn't trust him. you betrayed afghanistan, the way you did it. that's not just domestic but international. it is a huge moment for biden. pete: it is awesome to have you on the show. tell us about your new show on fox nation. >> i wanted to shout at you for ten minutes. pete: surround me with people who are certain to see me as a villain. >> what you did yesterday made the right conclusion. a long weekend.
