newport beach. the chief sharing updates on the tragedy late last night. listen. >> one of the officers, a 16 year veteran, was extricated. he is in critical condition but he is doing okay. the other officer unfortunately and tragically passed away. reporter: nicholas vella was a 14 year veteran of the force. he leaves behind a wife and daughter. fellow huntington beach police officers formed a procession in his honor. that he served quote with honor and dignity. the officers were responding to a call for service when the chopper went down. place say the cause of the deadly crash is not clear. hours earlier a helicopter plunged into the ocean near a crowded beach in miami. three people were onboard at the time of the crash. police say two of the three were hospitalized and are stable. faa is investigating what caused the crash. fortunately no injuries reported from people on the water or the

if you move to this, remember few months ago netflix workers staged a walkout of dave chappelle's new netflix special entitled the closer. this was in october of 2020. it was almost a year-and-a-half ago this took place. dave chappelle received a ton of heat from the transact activist army and it appears in this instance that corporate america actually with stood the attempt to cancel, because news today netflix has resigned dave chappelle for four new specials to be distributed on their platform. pete: from what i understand, looking at it, he is producing four episodes featuring i believe four other comedians, the fact they're resigning him, an upcoming netflix comedy festival i believe in los angeles for a whole week, he will be performing there. so it is amazing, we were kind of talking about this before the show, what is the story here?

>> i wish they had that level of humility. people are hungry for honesty. we're starting to see data how catastrophic the entire two years of restrictions are on children who bore the highest restriction burden of restrictions even though at lowest risk. some data kids are not able to hit a basic vocabulary milestone, 50 word vocabulary by age two. the cdc quietly saying they have extra half year to hit the speech milestone. it is ironic they're acknowledging this, quietly, at the same time they insist that every kid two years and above continue to wear masks today in the united states. rachel: exactly. >> regardless of any other factor. rachel: yeah. in europe and many other countries kids were never wearing masks the way they were here in america. from a personal point of view my daughter who has down went to speech therapy, poor therapist wasn't her fault, wearing a

mask. she has down syndrome. she is struggling to take the speech therapy class. you're wearing a mask. makes no sense. she was having to follow regulations. i felt like i was wasting my baby's time, speech pathologist time. speech pathologists telling us this a long time. you also told us, dr. makary, psychological impact on children. you say a lot of doctors are worried about same thing, they're afraid to say it out loud. why are doctors afraid to talk about what masks have done to kids psychologically? >> look, there is a lot of bullying and intimidation. i talk to doctors threatened by their own department chairs or hospitals, communications offices saying anything that could go against this mask every child in perpetuity message we're living under. we're an international outlyer. the w.h.o. is not neutral

♪. will: police in ottawa clashing with the "freedom convoy" protesters rallying against covid mandates. at least 170 protesters have been arrested so far. the violence keeps escalating with horseback officers appearing to trample demonstrators. let's bring in canadian truck driver chris clark from ottawa. chris, good morning, thank you for being with us, as you see events unfold in ottawa. as the protests, i don't know if we say comes to an end, authorities certainly crack down on the protests, what are your thoughts? >> i don't believe it is over. i am a former dump truck driver, part of my old business. i've now been able to move into a management role. when i saw the convoy coming here through a variety of circumstances i wound up here in ottawa, i have been able to witness things now since the beginning and my heart is very troubled by what our government

has been doing. will: yeah, it's shocking, chris, the images. i want to follow up on what you said i don't believe it is over. i don't believe it is completely dispersed and over, certainly seems the will of canadian government to totally break up the protest. towed away 170 trucks. arrested 170 people. where does it go from here in your minds? >> we were hoping it was going to go with communication between our politicians and some of the organizer of the convoy. we've given multiple opportunities to sit down here some of the requests we were asking. we had no response back. that is what i think is most troubling to people here on the ground is, i could understand if we sat down at a table, offered some communication and then were told, you're asking too much maybe, then bring out the horses but with no discussions whatsoever to come with such

luhantz. the concern this is a pretext, erupting violence this part of the country, to turn into a larger invasion launched by we've seen the troops along the border. today belarus, announced the military exercises taking place with russia will continue for an indefinite amount of time. this is a major indicator that the tension in the region reached its highest point. what happens in the coming days? that is the big question. the military and soldiers we spoke to on the front lines yesterday said they're prepared for anything. the interior minister we were valving with yesterday, said forces across ukraine are ready to repel a russian attack. reality could be much more dire. ukrainian military asks for foreign assistance, anti-aircraft missiles, air defense, and anti-tank missiles. they are still to arrive here in the capital of kyiv to be dispersed throughout the country. that is not enough of the 200,000 russian troops estimated on the borders of ukraine.

back to you. will: trey, that is a great update. i would love to take you back yesterday to the footage took mace on "fox & friends weekend," first-hand account what you were going through with the ukrainian troops. can you give us more context? describing as eastern ukraine. i'm curious, where are you in reflation, that field you're running down, that mud road, where are you just on the outskirts of a city, where are the separatists, where are the ukrainian front lines? i'm curious geographically what kind of situation you're dealing with. urban, just outside of urban area, what is the front line? reporter: the front line be looks very much like world war i. we were inside the trenches with these troops. it is quite muddy, cold, difficult conditions for the soldiers. they're used to take this type of incoming fire. we were with a group of journalists and soldiers part of a delegation traveling with the interior minister, when you see

the faces of soldiers and officials they were quite worried as the rounds started. we were up live on "fox & friends," this was halfway through the situation. we were inside of a bunker, the first plan was to stay in this bunker but as the fire got closer and closer and you could really get a sense that we may be trapped in this position we knew we had to move. so the call was made by the forces we were with to make a run for it. as that was happening on both sides of where we were there was this incoming fire. there was a sense, a concern that i had, maybe they tried to bracket this area, get closer and closer to where we were at. at one point during the clip that you saw in the live coverage everyone sort of got down on the ground on that road. around where we were, there were big holes in the road because it had taken fire in the past 48 hours. so they clearly had calibrated to hit this road because it was used by the troops. in earls it of location, this was just east of the city of

donesk on the line of contact. we were within 100 meters of russian backed separatists firing on this position. as we speak today soldiers and sievians living in this part of country are taking fire. they are the story. we're there to report and tell their story. we were able to come back to the capital of kyiv. we're standing on a balcony. the city behind us are quite calm. soldiers, civilians on the front line have to deal with this every single day. that is really the concern for this country, the fighting, violence erupting in the eastern part of the country route now could consume all of ukraine in the coming days. rachel: trey, the president of ukraine is getting forceful, speaking up much more loudly publicly about president biden, asking him to bring on sanctions now as a way to stop more aggression from the russians. what are you hearing, not wait until after things get worse to do the sanctions, what are you hearing on the ground?

you're talking to ukrainians, soldiers and people in the civilian population, where are they with this? do they also want sanctions now? reporter: ukrainian officials absolutely want sanctions to go into effect today. we saw ukrainian president zelensky yesterday in munich calling for these sanctions but making it very clear ukraine does want to pursue nato membership. by doing that he is directly speaking to russian president putin and addressing the major concern, that he has, that ukraine ultimately could become a member of this defense alliance. so it was seen by the international observers as really a direct request but also a direct rebuke to the russians who are very clear, if ukraine pursues this path, they will not let that happen and there is time really running out for diplomacy to prevail. there is a real sense not only in the west from the statements by president biden and defense

camera, shaking hands kiss be babies before the race the car. this cup will be full more than ever throughout the year before you get in the car. this is my sixth daytona 500, to figure out how to manage all the prerace fluff and get in the car to do your job. will: that can drain you, cory, mentally taxing where you have to be on the entire time. >> daytona is not physically abusive it is mentally. you're playing chess with 3600-pound race car for four hours. you're trying to position yourself in the right line at right time. keep the car straight, only thing you can do is be straight when the white flag waves. we'll have a strong strategy that we stick to and hopefully sneak the trophy out of here. pete: we talked about the new car. you're driving entirely new car. will that make the race look different at all?

as a result we responded this morning by adding helmets and batons to our equipment for the safety of officers. our officers continue to face resistance. at one point a flare was ignited by protester. officers used a chemical your intent known as pepper spray to disperse unlawful demonstrators who were resisting police orders. sadly, we saw young children being brought to the unlawful demonstration and to the front of our police operation. pete: he saying it was provoked, the moment that we saw on video. i don't know, i don't know you provoked that type of moment. we could simply enter pretty poorly the officers make its way through a very congested crowd, something is going to go wrong at this moment. just to put this into perspective i spoke to one of the truck drivers protesting in canada, chris clark, i asked him what he saw, how did you see this going down and here's what he had to say. >> i saw protesters kneeling and

praying and begging officers, pleading with them, pleading with their families, a lot of people looking these officers during the facing we forgive you you know not what you're doing. justin trudeau decided he demanded police officers use all necessary force to regain his street, wellington street in ottawa. i believe it's a tyrannical move to try to show the world how powerful he is. pete: is important to note the gentleman we heard from before is the interim police chief of ottawa. the original police chief refused to crackdown so they brought in outsiders, federal police as well who don't have a connection to the community and willing to do the bidding of just intro. i've been following this very closely, you guys have to. i have not seen one instance, show me one instance where there is a violent interaction from a protester.
