1:07 am
we need a comprehensive policy with diplomatic and military measures, as well as sanctions, vladamir putin is dictating pace of crisis and we have no leverage over his next move. >> carley: a lot recently just happened, new troops on the ukraine border, new field hospital was built. president biden pointed out they are moving blood in, which you don't do unless you plan to use it. ukrainian's military partly cloudy ales in comparison to russia. does ukraine have any hope? >> russia is in the donbos and no higher priority than determining whether russian troops plan to stay where they are or whether extending out further from donbos, or go to the river and create a land

surrounded and russia has the troops at the ready, i think. partly to deter ukraine from launching attacks elsewhere in the event russia expands outside of donbos, even in that continualing region. to get back to the point about leverage over russia. vladamir putin is willing to pay an economic price for this, he will be more supportive on china for hydro-carbon and he knows he's insighted unity from nato. it is counter intuitive, but that is what vladamir putin wants. he knows nato lends credibility to the method, he, the kgb can defend russia, even though russia is ark aggressively menacing ukraine's independence.

1:21 am
known. >> it is certainly concerning. i was shocked to see this in the syllabus. at the beginning, as reported by campus reform, binghamton university in sociology class, my professor implemented a progressive stacking policy, with the policy, i as white male are bottom of the hierarchy, progressive stack. when students like to speak are chosen based on race and sex. to give you an example, class that requires participation, 10 students raise their hand and white male raises his hand first, he may not be chosen at all. this goes against what america is supposed to be and we as society are supposed to value as meritocracy and eshg kwality. >> todd: that is insane, everybody should get a fair shake, unbelievable. in upon current campus woke environment, it takes guts to
1:22 am
speak out like this. why did you speak out? >> i felt it was my civic duty to speak out, to be honest. i live by philosophy if you want to fix it, you have to do it yourself. i implore other students to do exactly as i did. if they see something, say something. speak out, if anything like this is going on. if it is happening on your campus or work place, whereever. >> that in mind how have fellow students responded to you? >> majority of students have been on the same side as myself, they believe this policy was odd at the very least. there is a small swath of students who agree with her policy and they -- they wanted to implement the same thing and it is concerning considering
1:23 am
students will be graduating soon and entering the workforce, where they could be bringing this type of policy to a work place or college near you. >> todd: a school made this professor change the sulbus, was that enough? -- syllabus, was that enough? >> i would say yes, when i filed the title ix report, this is what i asked the school to do and they did this. to others, ki see why it may not be enough. i certainly hope to never see anything like this happen in our country, but that is not the case. >> todd: right. >> i nbl this specific case, i'm happy with the outcome. >> todd: sean, are you still in this class? >> sean: i am. >> todd: what is interaction with the professor like now?
1:24 am
>> sean: i don't real estate react to her, we are split into lectures that have over 100 studentss and we go into smaller discussion groups, and only a few students like 8-15 and that is with the ta. >> todd: if you think we make a big stuff about stuff happen nothing schools, it is happening, not just elementary and high school, in college and beyond. thank you for letting us know about this, this is crazy town, i can't believe it, we appreciate your time. carley. >> thankul. >> carley: "wall street journal" editorial says new cold war has arrived and president biden is not meeting the moment, is the white house deterring putin at all? we'll ask dr. rebecca grant next. >> todd: and a congressman says twitter fact checkers need to look at biden's 2020 tweet. she is flagging it as misinformation. details on that next.

>> carley: president biden announcing new sanctionss as putin orders troops to two breakaway regions in ukraine. >> president biden: this is beginning of russian invasion on ukraine. far beyond steps implemented in 2014 and if russia goes forward with this invasion, we stand to go further. >> carley: dr. rebecca grant is joining me now. good morning, dr. grant, great to see you. you just heard president biden say he is rolling out sanctionss incrementally, is this the right strategy? >> no, biden is going way too slow doing these sanctions bit by bit. carley, for once issue the senate is right, senate graham
1:30 am
and -- putin thinks he is ready, has russia's economy bundled and ready for sanctions. biden needs to hit him much harder. >> carley: putin is an ideologue, he cares about bringing russia back to soviet union glory days and what history books say about him years down the road. how do you use sanctions to deter him at this point? >> you are so right. that speech he gave before the invasion was like putin has turned into a nut case on the level of stalin. he hates america and ukraine. he hates the leaders who let the soviet union fall apart. it was incredible ranting and it is clear putin is out to restore russia.
1:31 am
it play list to his domestic audience, you know he believes it in his heart. sanctions have no impact, only thing that will get putin's attention is military deterrence. >> carley: military deterrence, there is question of how far putin is going to go. does he stay in the eastern ukrainian or expand out to lithuania, latvia, poland? they are nato allies, if that is the case, that means war. >> it does. with the forces around ukraine, there is real chance he will think biden is weak, nato is not ready and he will press ahead. we have a chance, response needs to use military force to deter. it is getting to him, in that speech, putin complained about u.s. air power, reconnaissance over ukraine, that is getting
1:32 am
his attention. if this is new cold war, we need to do the number one priority, use military deterrence to guard our friend. >> carley: i'm glad you said that, "wall street journal" editorial board has this op ed out, titled, saying new cold war ii is here with russian invasion of ukraine new cold war has arrived. putin doesn't want to be part of the current international order, he wants to blow it up. it is hard to say, cold war ii is here. what is your reaction to that and the way we can stop this from happen something >> i'm shockd and horrified, like everyone. how did we get here so fast? i think our weak u.s. leadership has to take some blame. it is true. putin really does want a new cold war, he declared new cold war. do three things, cut off his economy, we don't do business
1:33 am
with them in a cold war, guard our friends, keep our friends together and remember the number one priority is how we use military forces, time to deter, support ukraine and get ready, the missing piece here is a possible cyber attack, either in ukraine or more broadly. look to our own security and forces around the world. we got to play, too. >> carley: live picture on the screen of putin in russia, defender of the fatherland. you see military presence there. it feels like war, even in that image we're seeing on screen, with putin in the front and troops marching in the back. you have to wonder what is going through president putin's mind right now as he has surrounded ukraine and these sanctions have come down and also, he's just made a new alliance with china
1:34 am
and will those sanctions really have any impact on putin if he's getting this support from our other adversary out east in chinese president xi. >> china is backing him up with more oil purchases and that will help. remember, putin's family lived through the siege of linengrad, this russia patriotic war makes him feel strong, it plays well home and that is where his mindset is, in the cold war mindset. sanctionss will not get the job done, especially with china. >> carley: there was a united response with the u.s., uk and euand then germany decided to freeze the nord stream 2 pipeline. how much of deterrence would that be for vladamir putin? how much would that hurt his bottom line? >> germany's move was very big,
1:35 am
it shows germany will stick with nato and collective security, even ahead of their economic interest, it was a great move, as was britain's decision to go with poland and form alliance with ukraine. european partners are strong issue but they need u.s. leadership to get stronger against putin. >> carley: thank you for joining us, we appreciate your perspective. >> thank you, carley. >> carley: you bet. >> todd: to tensions on twitter, congresswoman elisa stefanik calling out this tweet from joe biden, getting a lot of attention. i would like to report disinformation, that tweet from then presidential candidate read, putin doesn't want me to be president, i'm the only person in this field who has gone toe to toe with him. calls president biden's handling of the ukraine crisis weak and reprehensible. wild video, two blackhawk

narrative anymore. they are doing theatrics, naming hitler, making people seem sick of tyranny. >> carley: organizers say the protest is not about politics, it is freedom for future generations. op ed, trudea's liberal tyranny, ottawa is freezing bank accounts as if truckers are terrorists. you have to wonder about the future of canada and trudea after this display of what many say is tyranny. >> todd: in the united states, bouzer saying, report anything suspicious, did he make similar requests in 2020? i think not. owens is calling it out. >> carley: making sure washington, d.c. stays safe, if there is any conflict that arises is a good idea in advance of the trucker protest.
1:42 am
like we saw in canada, the truckers were peaceful and it would only hurt the trucker cause and cause for freedom, if they were to get violent and there is no sign that will happen. hopefully this protest does happen, it remains peaceful, because that would further prove their point. >> todd: impetus for truckervoy was mandates despite allegations they withheld datsa -- data from the public. dr. janette nesheiwat joins us. start with the mandate, cdc is still pushing mandates, why? when every state in the union decided we're done with mandates? >> you are right, todd, i have had one case of covid-19 in the last two weeks, omicron is nearly gone.
1:43 am
we have achieved our goals, flattened the curve to get the numbers so low and make sure we don't overwhelm the hospital. it is time to adjust accordingly, it doesn't make sense to wear a mask if you are fully vaccinated or have natural immunity and omicron has nearly left the city of new york, for example. it is the same in many parts of the country. cdc is lagging in guidance and protocol. hope to see changes coming up once they make an announcement, i believe next week. >> todd: cdc says it is not ready, are you buying that? >> you really dilute the trust, the credibility, when you withhold information. this is important for me as a doctor, i need as much information as possible to take care of my patients. when you say, we don't want this to be misinterpreted or it might

discourage someone from getting a booster, that is inappropriate. you need all this information based on that data. it doesn't make sense, it is important to be open and honest and we need that truth and transparency. >> todd: booster shot data break-through cases in vaccinated americans, data broken down by vaccination status sure seems like they are trying to cover something up or not tell us the full picture. get your thoughts. "the view" ripped as tone deaf for discussing queen elizabeth's covid-19 diagnosis, take a listen. >> the queen cancelled her engagements after she got covid. could boris be jumping the gun or is this part of what we're see something >> did the queen go to his parties? >> it is tone deaf to announce this on the eve of the queen announcing she contracted covid.
1:45 am
they have one job, protect the queen and couldn't do that. >> todd: as a doctor, you want to hear things like that on tv? >> it is ridiculous, really, you know, you have to take into consideration the words that could be causing fear in others. what boris johnson has done, she picked up omicron likely from her son, it is extremely contagious. she did what she had to do, she is triple vaccinated. her case is mild. when cases are low and almost gone, we have to scale back mitigation efforts. we can't live with masks and upon mandates forever. get your vaccine and move on with our lives. >> todd: dr. janette nesheiwat, we appreciate your time. thank you for joining us. carley. >> carley: out of control truck stop and seven illegal immigrants scramble to ark void
