and to all those folks on twitter who always say i'm full of crap, turns out i wasn't. tomorrow on "special report" talk with senate intelligence committee chairman mark warner fair and membered thanks for inviting us into your home tonight. that's it for this "special report" fair balanced and unafraid. "jesse watters primetime" starts right now. jess thanks for sharing. >> bret: too much information. >> jesse: glad you are okay. >> jesse: start with a fox news alert. children r. russian forces have bombed a children's hospital in ukraine. warning some viewers may find these images disturbing. >> jesse: trey yingst is live in kyiv with the latest. >> devastating images from the port city of mariupol tonight. we see these women and children at this hospital, pregnant women there waiting to give birth as this missile struck the area and the destruction so widespread you see in this video just how bad it was as they were looking for survivors. officials say at least 17 people were wounded in this strike. ukrainian president volodymyr zelenskyy tweeting out the first video as we got some insight into what happened. but this is just a taste of what is taking place in that city of mariupol. a population of around 400,000 people. and the deputy mayor there, gave us some new details today about
4:02 pm
what exactly happened over the past two weeks. he says more than 1,000 people have been killed in this town where the hospital was struck. 47 of them were buried today in a mass grave. he goes on to call this medieval and it is really just a taste of what is happening across this country. the russians today said they would allow people to flee not only this city, but four other locations. and then they shelled many of these evacuation routes, making it so dangerous for these innocent civilians caught amid the crossfire. there is also some concerning news today, jesse, in chernobyl, just about two hours north of where we are standing right now where officials say the plant is no longer connected to the power grid. emergency generators are reportedly turned on. one ukrainian member of parliament calling this a very dangerous situation. adding if russia will not cease-fire, they expect radiation leaks. ukraine's nuclear power operator added that the wind could actually carry radioactive substances to other parts of europe. the international atomic energy agency confirmed that chernobyl is no longer transmitting data
4:03 pm
but say they see no critical impact on safety at this point. all of this coming as the ukrainian president volodymyr zelenskyy once again is calling for support from the international community. they need things like anti-tank weapons, they need anti-aircraft batteries, and we have actually seen a number of those in use today in the capital of kyiv. as during the day and night the ukrainians are attempting to shoot down russian aircraft. so far they have actually been very successful in doing so since the war georgian. jesse? >> jesse: good news, thank you, trey. it's now been two weeks since russia started this onslaught against the people of ukraine. and after 14 days, we're waking up to additional threats emerging from this war zone. it's a stark reality but what happens in ukraine could destroy more than just europe. last week we reported on russia's attack an eventual occupation of europe's largest nuclear power plant. after a fire broke out,
4:04 pm
following an assault by russian forces, alarm bells went off across the world. that we could be witnessing a nuclear meltdown. luckily that didn't happen. as the facility held up without leaking radiation. and we dodged a bullet. but russia's stupidity knows no bounds. they were willing to attack a nuclear plant. so what else are they willing to destroy? well, we know russia is one big fang news operation. brainwashing its own people into thinking they are the good guys in this war. so it's safe to assume their troops are falling for similar propaganda. and they're largely conscripted army made up of, you know, young, misinformed kids. you mix young, stupid troops with guns and a nuclear reactor and you could see why the world held its breath for a moment last week. and unfortunately, this isn't the only unforeseen risk emerging from ukraine.
4:05 pm
yesterday, on capitol hill, under secretary of state victoria nuld went before the senate where she had this exchange with senator marco rubio, listen. >> does ukraine have chemical and biological weapons? >> ukraine has biological research facilities which now we are quite concerned russian troops, russian forces may be seeking to gain control of. so we are working with the ukrainians on how they can prevent any of those research materials from falling into the hands of russian forces should they approach. >> jesse: biolabs in ukraine. biolabs. you heard that right. there has been a lot of talk, you know, propaganda and fake news regarding this whole thing so we wanted to look into it this afternoon the first
4:06 pm
question we had was why are these labs in ukraine and what role has the united states played in making that possible? well, parts of it comes from an expansion of the nun lugar cooperative threat reduction program way back in 2005. this agreement was put into place, quote: improve security for pathogens stored at biological research and health facilities in the former soviet republic. under the agreement ctr funds will for the first time flow directly to projects aimed at securing pathogen strains and sensitive biological knowledge within ukraine. now, the plan came together through the work of two u.s. senators dick lugar, one of the name sakes of the program and a junior senator from illinois named barack obama. >> you may remember this, dick, i was in ukraine, we went to a facility an old factory. we walked down these long dark
4:07 pm
corridors, we are ducking our heads, stepping over puddles of something, we're not sure what it was. >> jesse: so we know these facilities exist and how they got there. but, what are they actually doing inside? well, according to a national review report, citing a 2011 conference organized by the u.s. state department biosecurity engagement program, the facility is described as a biosafety level 3 lab. which works, quote: with microbes that can cause serious or deadly diseases through inhalation like covid-19, tuberculosis, yellow fever, sars, west nile. some strains of influenza. so these labs are a petri dish of some of the world's most contagious diseases and they are sitting in a war zone. you can see why we are a little concerned. and from what we can understand,
4:08 pm
ukraine's level 3 labs are found in odesa and kyiv. guess which two cities russian troops are closing in on? odesa and kyiv. these two facilities could very well be in putin's hands in a matter of days. and then what happens? nuland says she was quite concerned about russia getting ahold of the research and it's not surprising why. because just because something was not created as a weapon doesn't mean it can't be used as a weapon. we only have to look back two years to see what happened in wuhan for gain of function research led to a pandemic that killed millions across the globe. millions. and why did we work to put these facilities in ukraine? putin hasn't been shy about his desire to invade the country for years. couldn't our leaders have found a more friendly place for their
4:09 pm
research? we know the russians are stupid enough to attack one of the largest nuclear plants in europe. do we really trust them to handle highly contagious viruses with the proper precaution? it's unbelievable. wisconsin senator ron johnson, a member of the homeland security committee attended the hearing with under secretary of state nuland yesterday. senator johnson, have we incapsulated this accurately and what more can you tell us? >> well, jesse, i was at that hearing. i was pretty surprised to hear what secretary nuland had to tell us. i any you have described it pretty well. i can't really add much more to the conversation. you know, i certainly was concerned what activity was in the wuhan lab. i have been trying to get, for example, the state department report on the wuhan lab and the state department is not being transparent with me. but what can i say is that i'm
4:10 pm
concerned about what russia is doing in ukraine because of these types of facilities, the nuclear -- i mean look how reckless they are with nuclear facilities. now they have have bombed a maternity hospital. these are war crimes. there is no way of stating it. these are war crimes. and the commanders in particular are guilty of war crimes. i think the world ought to be stating this clearly, so that the russian commanders are on full notice that they are -- they will be -- they will be accused of war crimes. hopefully they will all stand trial for war crimes when this is all over. hopefully that will deter their action. but, no, i'm highly concerned about the carelessness, not to mention the atrocities now being committed by russia in their unprovoked and aggressive war towards ukraine. >> jesse: you are a sitting senator. you have been there a few years now. did you have any idea, you know,
4:11 pm
former colleagues were involved with state department funds, placing biolabs all over the world? i mean, in places that are a little dicey. i would say. are you even aware of that? i mean, it sounds like after what happened in wuhan we should know where these biolabs are, what the safety situation is, if we're still funding it, what type of research is being done. this is so risky. don't you think? >> >> it is. i was certainly aware of the concern we had after the fall of the soviet union about the nuclear weapons, the bioweapons, and the chemical weapons that the soviet union did possess. and we were trying to gain control over of those things. i'mware of that i was surprised of the number of labs and different locations they are. in we are certainly checking into it as you have attempted to do as well. >> jesse: all right. well, i hope we get a handle on.
4:12 pm
that was because that's not good. i don't trust putin with bio. it's just too nuts after what happened in wuhan. we can't have that happen again. thank you, senator ron johnson. we appreciate it. >> have a good evening. >> jesse: let's now turn to dan bongino, host of "unfiltered" on saturday nights. dan, what do you make about this revelation that are these biolabs in a war zone that putin is closing in on? >> well, outside of the obvious, i mean, we have just been through a pandemic. you know you might have heard it of it this covid-19 thing. you are like oh, so there is a potential bioresearch facility as sick tore i can't nuland called it that they are concerned about in ukraine that is dealing with bsl 3 pathogens that sounds like kind of a big deal to me. that's the obvious story who has a hold of these. are they destroying these samples right now? apparently they have what's called i learned this word today
4:13 pm
depositarium a pathogen collection there what else in the collection? i promise you it's not samples of lysol. it's probably pathogens. again, an area of obvious concern. the real story i see here, jesse, there is a bigger story here. and not to try to wax -- we are in this crisis of truth here. people who are supposed to be nonpartisan trusted arbiters of truth, the media, fact checkers, i mean their name is fact checkers, you literally have one job. they are actually doing the opposite now. they reported just a week, a week and a half ago that this story about these bioresearch facilities in ukraine was a conspiracy theory. you had snopes reporting on it. now when "u.s.a. today" and snopes fact check it say it's a hoax and conspiracy theory or
4:14 pm
imply as much, you almost know it's true. so the problem we are having in america right now is because you can't trust the government. you can't trust bureaucrats anymore. fauci and the cdc. you can't trust fact checkers and you can't trust the media. we have this hole in the stand and filled by basically anything and any place that can fill it in with something that even sounds tenable or rationale. that's the problem. and the fact that the media, jesse, doesn't understand this and the fact checking community and the leftist censorship community is so bizarre to me. they keep whining and griping and moaning like little kids and you need to shut your mouth and look at what's going on. there is a misinformation crisis because you created it. people -- think about this. my last point on this, right? people trust the three card monte guy from 1982 times square more than they trust the media or fact checkers. and you don't sense that that's a problem?
4:15 pm
this story was real. yet the fact checkers who had no special access information at all came out last week and said no, no, no, no, no. it's a bad story for the biden administration. obama may have been involved in it that's a hoax and you are banned from facebook if you put it on. you wonder why we are where we are right now with the information crisis in the country. >> jesse: we had our team at "primetime" just research it and we found it was on some senate websites, we found barack obama on camera talking about. >> hold on, i want to show you this. this took me two seconds. you and i, jesse, we have a special internet just for me and you. this took me two seconds doing my show this morning. here is my i phone. here's the article. "the washington post" 2005: u.s. do aid ukraine in countering bioweapons. as long as it took me to type bioweapons, ukraine, that's "the washington post." 2005. yet the fact checker says it's a conspiracy theory. right here. one lab to receive -- each has
4:16 pm
the name of the lab the iimenchakov research institute. "u.s.a. today," snopes, nah big conspiracy theory. all you had to do was go to that magic interweb and you could have seen that this wasn't, in fact a conspiracy theory. one more quick thing, folks, we deserve the truth here, okay? if there is a bioweapons facility in ukraine, we don't know that's what they were doing at all. if there is, it doesn't make vladimir putin a saint. the guy is still a global terrorist. it doesn't change what he did. but it does change the risk calculus. does it not? i think the american people shouldn't be lied to. again. i think you should tell us the damn truth. consent of the governed. our country. you work for us. >> it's not a darn campaign slogan. i get it we are not all in the cia. we don't have to know every single dark detail but stop freaking lying all the time. stop it. nobody trusts you anymore. >> jesse: treat us like adults that's all we want.

senior strategic analyst. what's going on with the russian air force situation, general? >> it spends pretty a surprising. a couple of things really stick out. one is the russians don't have the same electronic warfare ability that the united states as pure these are airplanes that are designed to take down an opponent's integrated defense systems. and therefore we can then kinetically eliminate those systems. and they don't have sufficient numbers to do that. the ukrainians don't have anywhere near the kind of integrated air defense system that the united states or russia has. it is still operating. and that forces the airplanes therefore to go low to avoid those long-range missiles. and when they go low, they get

to ukraine. they said, send them over to a nato base. and the united states those up their arms and says no, that could provoke the russians if we give them the fighters. that is a lot of nonsense. stingers, antitank weapons, they are all there. why are we afraid we are going to provoke the russians here? it's nonsense. if we keep going down this letter, it is going to tie our hands when they ukrainians need everything that we could possibly give them to help them. we've artie made the decision we are not going to defend them, but let's help them with everything we've got. sure, these fighters would help. it is the complement to love all of them together that makes it such a difference. >> jesse: thank you so much for joining. >> great talking to you. >> jesse: we have mike from depew new york. what is the big deal about
