latest? >> todd and carley, the russian air force went to work, striking in the east and west of this country. west about 80 miles from lviv, they hit an air base near the took of lutk, home to the 204th tactical brigade, home to the migs the ukrainian air force has been using to fight against the russians east of the country. they hit dnipro, they hit a kindergarten, an apartment building and a shoe factory. you can see the devastation and fires, we are waiting for confirmation on the number of civilian casualties, it appears inevitable that there are some. in the meantime, the ukrainian forces are fighting back. take a look at this video, this is outside kyiv, line of armored

personnel ambushed by ukrainian forces who say they took out several of those russian vehicles. president zelenskyy of ukraine saying to russian soldiers, go home or face death. listen here. >> you can still save yourself, if you just go home. do not believe your commanders who say you have a chance in ukraine. nothing, but prison and death ark waits you. you are taking our lives and will pay with yours. >> john: we've been talking a lot about the large convoy outside of kyiv to the north. we got new maxar technology satellite images of that overnight. they seem to show, according to u.s. officials that convoy has broken up to some extent, parts moving in different directions, some going to forested areas, it

could portend a move forward toward the center of kyiv. the nearest units are just nine miles or so from the city center and some of the artillery units have moved into firing positions. >> carley: we just got video of the airstrike in lutske, it was an air field, right? that is important, russia is trying to control the airspace and targeting the fields. >> john: yes, that is where the air force mig fighters are based and that presumably is why the russian targetd that air field, about 80 miles from where we are right now. the headquarters of the 204th tactical aviation brigade of the ukrainian air force and migs have been flying out of there

and that would explain why the russians decideed with clear skies to make a real difference for those pilots, they decided to target that particular air field. carley and todd. >> carley: migs have been in the news, poland was trying to get migs to ukraine, the u.s. said it was no go, they were going to use u.s. air base in germany, now the air field was targeted with migs in it. more to come for sure. ukrainian president volodymyr zelenskyy would appreciate all the fighter jets he can get. jonathan, thank you for your reporting. >> carley: heading to romania after meeting with u.s. troops in poland, kamala harris. >> todd: pretty awkward moment on the world stage yesterday. griff. >> griff: kamala harris will wrap up her visit to the eastern

ukrainian infrastructure. chief economic advisor says $100 billion in damage has been done, reporting half ukrainian businesses have closed completely and the other half are operating below capacity. president zelenskyy vowing to rebuild with the best architects issue the best companies and best projects for every city. >> carley: the war in ukraine rages on, humanitarian crisis is worsening. sick and elderly ukrainians are finding themselves without food and critical medicine. some stayed behind to help those who need it. sir, you are doing such good work, tell us about your mission, what are you doing in kyiv right now? >> good morning. right in the moment, we're -- we installed kitchens around the city and we're making more than 1000 food portions per day, also

we're volunteering, we're giving medicine to elderly peep and he will giving food also to the people in need. so basically this is our mission, this is what we do now. >> carley: i understand you are also giving medicine to some sick people. how are you finding people who need your help? >> well, basically they write me on instagram, not the people, but their children or their grandchildren, people know that everybody can help so they are giving, tagging me or sending me messages like saying my grandfather is there or we know people in this house, they are all out of any food, so this is how we manage to deliver -- me

personally, i delivered more than 20 portions of food three days ago. now i have more volunteers and friends helping me out. this is more the thing to do and more people to help. >> carley: your move cemetery growing and you've become a lifeline to people who don't have families and can't leave kyiv, what is reaction from people when you see them with a bag of food and you are there to help them? >> they're, almost all of them are crying and saying, is this for me? my gosh, thank you very much, thank you very much. their eyes, they are sad ice, we are giving them so much hope that they are not alone. we are there for them and helping them. until telling them call us any time, anything you need, here is the food. any medicine you

need. we see pain in their eyes, but we are giving them so much hope we are all together and we won't leave them alone. >> carley: it is amazing. you own restaurants. you are used to feeding people at the best of times and now they are doing it to save their lives. you decided to stay in kyiv, so did president zelenskyy, he said if putin comes at me, you will see my face issue not my back. what has his leadership meant to you? >> everything. it is a man of word, it is a man of universe. it is pride of ukraine, pride of every single human being in the world. he hasn't left the country, hasn't left the city. he's with us, communicating with us, he's supporting us and he's the one who stands by us and we stand by him. this support gives us so much

effort to stay and to stay safe and to move towards the victory, to move toward helping people and basically he's the one. >> carley: i was reading, kyiv mayor said that kyiv the city has been turned into a fortress, every street and house is being fortified in preparation for an assault. is that true? can you describe some of the things going on on the ground in preparation for russian forces to move in? >> yeah, i almost have goosebumps when you tell this, yes, it is 100% true. i've never seen so much -- so many people protecting their native city. there is so many people on the

economy works. the fossil fuel economy has given -- has extended lifespans. it has built the economy that we live on. if if you want to go green do it over the fedex 50 to 100 years. don't jam it dorch down everyone's throats it's hurting everyone right now. >> carley: the cost of everything goes up with inflation on top of that. gas prices affect every congressman's constituents and even democrats say they don't want oil from venezuela or saudi arabia. could he reverse course on domestic production. >> he won't reverse course. >> carley: is he not admitting his policies are hurting. >> no. he is shifting putin. putin is absolutely evil and engaged in unjust war against ukraine. that's absolutely wrong of him to do. you can't blame ton him. this goes back to august and we suffered the tragedy of losing 13 bheerns in afghanistan. it was unforced error on the part of biden.

just a month after that, we a new marine in our family tremendous concern as family. i'm sure those service members and for their families are terribly concerned. hundreds more real maiden. it telegraphed to the rest of the world. we are not just having problems right now when it comes to russia and their invasion of ukraine. we are concerned about china regarding taiwan. now, nuclear testing going on that's actually been going on for many, many weeks since the beginning of the year in north korea. and now we are asking to buy oil from iran. these are four bad actors that we should not be kowtowing to trying to increase oil splice. we need to do it in the united states. we have hundreds of years left of natural gas and oil. >> todd: you know your 534 colleagues there in colleague. i'm sure you know many well including many on the other side, are they somewhat coming around because they notice that americans are suffering or are they somewhat coming around because there is a midterm in

about 8 months? >> they will come around but it may have to happen in november when the red wave happenings. this pendulum doesn't swing on its own. people are tremendously concerned out there. these are people that are constituents. these are people across the country that i talked. to say they may not be politically interested. they are realizing what the cost of bad leadership does. that's what joe biden has given us. he has completely taken his eye off the ball. is he thinking that the american people are to serve the government. when it's actually the other way around. government is to protect human rights and people's rights. and create an environment in which people can thrive. right now he is jamming his policies down the american people's throat. >> carley: have to toss it over to "fox & friends" but i'm sure the american people are wondering when can we expect relief? when will gas and inflation go down. >> all current decisions are made on future expectations. and so when wees who tit till energy policies on the biden administration that's when it's going to go down.
