7:00 pm
>> all right that does it for us really moved by that i'm sure you were as well real warrior spirit out there folks. we'll see you back here next saturday night at 9 p.m. don't forget to set your dvr. s lawrence: this is a fox news alert iran fire multiple miss it also to u.s. consulate in iraq. senior u.s. official tells fox none of the missiles hit the consulate own ore jennifer griffin is reporting americans assigned who live and tbheerk the consulate including military personnel and no injuries reported and reax to breaking news chief and fox news contradict tore john hoffman we're getting more information on this. what can you tell us about this and what does this mean for the u.s.?
7:01 pm
well this has been a regular tactic against presence in iraq frankly for decades you know this is iran wants the remaining u.s. military presence in iraq to leave. they're trying to induce government of iraq to do that even though united states shifted to advisory role and iran is trying to deliver a message to us. regionally, just last week these valli reportedly struck a couple of irgc generals or officers in damascus, syria iran maybe trying to exact revenge and headliners in iran are, you know, seeking leverage against us as we negotiate what to me looks like a pretty bad deal jcpoa, nuclear deal that looks a lot like the first one which was very flawed. lawrence: dan, my second question is why strike now? is it because of the position of
7:02 pm
the united states we know what china and russia is, obviously, doing attacking ukraine is seems like our enemies now are all -- acting all at once or position in themselves to act. >> well see that's been a pretty continuous strategy that iran has deployed against us so i'm not sure that timing is necessarily -- you know, a huge factor here. remember your north korea launching ballistic missile test right now that's a concern. the terrorist are gathering strength and ungovernor states in afghanistan and russia unprovoke invasion of ukraine and ripping us off in united states so a lot of threats out there. when i was at the cia when michael was acting director used to pick off threats to our national security. when we traveled together in war zones many tell our young officer it is that the silver lining in dark clouds is that there was an important job for
7:03 pm
all of us to do on the frontlines protecting our nation detecting all of those threats to our national security so we could pre-empt them because their visit on our shows that's an issue with strike and air is extent to which we could have collected intelligence on the strike before it happened very hard to do. and especially if that's strike happened from iran opposed to iran using its proxy militia in country. glans dan toipght get your reaction to what's happening in ukraine this week we found out that the president and national security counsel didn't think it was a good i idea to give ukrainians those jets they said that -- putin would see it as provokive it and escalate the tension there. where they getting that information from? is it our assets on ground that are providing nsa that information? >> so it could be coming from just direct line of contact between our department of defense and their russian
7:04 pm
counterparts that's official channels and it is happening. it is to deconflict been going on for a long time and could be that -- i would expect it is more likely that than clandestine reporting and it could be. at the end of the day at least in my view given ukrainian stinger and javelin with fighter aircraft is a distinction without a difference and either way using that equipment -- to target lethally to target russian tanks and their soldiers and right now ukraine is in extraordinarily perilous situation and i think one of the things for this administration you know looking back -- the question will have to ask is did we do enough to deter invasion in first place and as soon as that is no we ran kind of a live twitter feed of declassify cia intelligence reporting on eminent invasion but we didn't help ukraine prepare for it and help make it clear to russia it would be -- involved spilling indoor to out of blood and treasure and so they did it, and you know i
7:05 pm
think it is a way on conscience of our elected officials especially president biden what we don't do -- to help ukraine that is -- that's a very significant i think, try to have hard tile putting my head to pillow at night frankly without doing given the ukrainians to make fighter aircraft they need so much. lawrence: yeah. ben former cia station chief and moscow a man that knows his stuff. dan thanks so much for joining us on cross country tonight and bring in kyle live in ukraine, what's live on ground? they are trying to take kyiv what can you tell us? >> trying to do a lot of different stuff lawrence, the war even the touching this western city of earlier this night we hear air raid siren blast and no incoming for this moment and a funeral for three soldiers killed in fighting -- held at a church in town ukraine says 1300 have been killed by
7:06 pm
the russians. there was a huge outof support and two years of anguish sight and sounds of this city at war. take a look at what we saw. >> a sunny saturday in western ukrainian city all seems calm and neat surface science of war feared coming this way. sand bag buildings, sheet metal protecting windows, the ukraine flag autograph by combat units. >> terrible. very terrible. >> yes. >> i don't understand the reason for these invasion. this is the other side of hundreds of desperate people coming from all over ukraine hit by the russian military coming to the train station and trying to get through at least freedom in poland. what start as disorganize pan sick now at least a reasonable system. the reason is behind exodus hasn't changed. terror of russians over two and a half million on the run. >> i --
7:07 pm
lost everything. my life -- lost everything. >> there. is it bad there now? >> bad. bad. that's why you're coming for this person. >> there's that russian war machine yeah on in the key fort city of mare yo pole for example hundreds of thousands remain trayed there russian army slamming city with artillery shell and bomb strikes they've been without water food, electricity for days now and you're right lawrence the russian military tightening around kyiv more ground was taken in the importance suburb troops now within 15 miles, victims of the fighting struggling to get away. and this civilian casualty tole does rise and russians set aside any kind of precise approach to fighting. baskly basically going for jugular i have to say ukrainian soldiers are putting up a fight,
7:08 pm
a fight unbelievable people who have not predicted with the help of arms coming from the u.s. and elsewhere. u.s. signing office on another 200 million dollars of lethal aid to this krnghts. much needed. back to you. lawrence: all of the predictions were that this would be over by now and ukrainian people just will not give in -- greg excellent reporting stay safe, sir. here to react to putin latest aggression member of ukrainian parliament marianne -- sir, thanks so much for joining the program. i have to ask you -- it is uncomfortable to talk about because seems like putin is new strategy is to get the political leaders is already captured a mayor in ukraine, the reports say that mayor is being tortured -- what is your view are you scared today tonight -- what diewpght american people to know? >> well i'm not scared i'm extremely angry that once again
7:09 pm
russia is trying to -- country, and for what we are seeing with the capture's mayor we have clearly seen what they really want. they want constant and long-term occupation of ukraine. it is great that they want to integrate territory into the territory of russia and thus see reverse of the empire and satisfy putin needs for a concur, i thought that maybe those values are long -- gone. that they do not exist in civilize world but it is clear that at least for some parts of russia those uncivillize approach still remain within the human nature. >> for this occupation to work let's say that putin is successful in sense of capturing all of the major cities. will ukrainian people ever bend a knee to putin?
7:10 pm
>> of course not according to latest survey 95% of ukrainians believe -- support action the damascus and will never accept the occupation. and the thing is that he can not physically possibly occupy the whole country not with 150,000 troops that is in ukraine physically impossible. now already his forces are overstretched about 20% of them at least maybe more with the fight capacity and many sol jengt of troops were killed actually without huge mobilityization there's absolutely not possibility of military victory for him. >> yeah. what is your view about the united states deciding not to give you guys those jets? >> well, first of all we're extremely grateful to united states for aid for rocket launchers for sanctions we feel that we're not alone. and it would be extremely grateful and still insist that
7:11 pm
if more is done less human suffering there is. and there's not so much as a small human suffering so that actually is not a distinction without a difference but a huge difference it is able to strike rapidly russian advance it is from russian forces where they are. having shoulder and missiles is extremely important it does help fuss fight russian soldiers and they are being used for efficiency but this is basically a regular army so the russians have the jets they can strike us anywhere. we hear sirens every day, and they can select targets around the whole country. we do desperately need that capacity and we also do need capacity to strike russian actor it is to prevent them from civilians. >> sir, american people are praying for you. looks like israel it trying to do negotiations so at least it is civilians can have a safe passage we continue to pray for
7:12 pm
you thank you so much, sir. >> thank you. lawrence: up next you remember keystone pipeline workers that joe biden put out of the work on first day in office? well they have a message for the president of the united states. you don't want to miss it. >> they're taking infrastructure away whole thing it is not just keystone and trying to kill us off. people everywhere living with type 2 diabetes are waking up to what's possible... with rybelsus®. the majority of people taking rybelsus® lowered their blood sugar and reached an a1c of less than 7. rybelsus® isn't for people with type 1 diabetes. don't take rybelsus® if you or your family ever had medullary thyroid cancer or have multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2, or if allergic to it. stop rybelsus® and get medical help right away if you get a lump or swelling in your neck, severe stomach pain, or an allergic reaction.

>> gas prices surge to record highs this past week and americans are feeling pain in their wallet. brian yen will give us latest on rise in price and ongoing blame game surrounding. brian. >> good evening about 60% of americans say they are changing their lifestyle and driving habits because of high gas prices that according to aaa take a look at national average price for a gallon of gas is now $4.32. that's up 40 cents in last week a year ago, the average price was just $2.84. so now, there's a blame game. critics say gas prices have been rising since president biden and anti-fossil fuel policies first took office, and oil industry
7:17 pm
says that biden needs to ease the process for drilling and encourage private investment in oil projects president biden says oil companies are being greedy and he's blaming hikes on russia president putin. >> going to go up. too much right now russia -- is responsible. tennessee are not believing it because they can pull up any chart, any graph, and see where gas prices were during obama biden administration where they were during trump years and where they are now. über is now charging customers a new fuel fee to offset these rise in gas prices starting on wednesday, über rides or food deliveries will now cost anywhere from 35 to 5 cents more depending on your location now at least 21 states have proposals now to rollback reduce
7:18 pm
state gas taxes temporarily yanked and georgia suspended gas taxes for instance for at least 30 days saving 37 cents and 29 cents gallon respectfully. and there are calls now for the suspension of the federal gas tax which is 18 cents a gallon. now gas prices have not been this high since 2008 and it could stay high for months to come. lawrence. lawrence: filled up this week cost me $90, brian, so i can afford it but a lot of americans can't and that's amazing. thanks so much, brian. of course. lawrence: americans say president biden is to blame for surge in gas and oil prices. and many are pointing to his cancelation of the keystone pipeline, as a major factor. i traveled to tulsa, oklahoma i spoke to oil workers who lost their jobs on the pipeline because the president war on fossil fuels they were fired up. watch. you were scheduled to work on the keystone pipeline --
7:19 pm
>> yes. lawrence: when you found out it was closed, what's going happen what was your first reaction? >> i was just dazed you know i waited two months to get on the job. and then when i fund out it was closed -- i lost about three months of work i didn't have anything else lined up. >> after he canceled our pipeline he endorsed nord stream 2 going from germany to russia and that was kind of a slap in the face to us. >> doesn't make any sense to me to buy something from another country when you can supply it yourself. i'm sorry -- industry is affecting all of us. lawrence: what do you say to go full solar and electric vehicles? >> i agree let's move towards that let's move towards something cleaner and something that is better for the environment but what we're doing is not bad for the environment right now anyway. but if that's what they believe then let's move towards that but just dropping what we're doing right now -- and just jump on to something that's not reliable that's not
7:20 pm
going to work. >> these people don't look at any of that they look at what we're doing and they don't have a clue what we do what we go through, what we do for our jobs they just want to nox down. >> pipeline most efficient way of transporting something. and if you really want to be energy independent we should advance all options to where we can maybe shut something down in the future but not cripple ourselves and rely on someone else's energy. >> rely on energy it takes to power their electricity. do you think climate act is understanding of that? >> they have no idea what they're talking about. they look at the big picture and nothing in between that. >> we're all seeing. prices of gas is going up. i was there no matter if you're democrat, republican independent it is hitting you right now. >> oh, yeah -- >> could y'all help if you were all drilling? >> 100%. as soon as bide takes office he
7:21 pm
shuts us down not only fuel -- fuel went up to like $5 a gallon now, and the price of everything has gone up. it is a complete trickle effect. we should sustain ourselves and not depending on other nations raising their price and it affect us. that shouldn't even be in the question. >> if we want to get price of gas down right now -- we want to drop price of gas, what do we need to do right now? >> put us to work right now -- put us to work. and you will see not only the fuel prices go down, but you will see the price of everything else go down with it. >> these gas prices affect everything on the market. >> everything. >> because of transportation. >> eversion has to be transported. blocking the probably the biggest contributor to energy in the united states right now. you can -- he's pushing for solar and -- wind power. but it is been proven over and over that is not as efficient as
7:22 pm
burning natural gas. refining crude -- >> gets out all of the politics we're sick of hearing -- you know, this is putin price hike. >> jen psaki was at the podium saying that's been graduated people want to pouch they pump y can do it these permits are not a problem here. what would you say to jen psaki? >> 9,000 permits that were fulled they might not have oil under ground they got the permit for. so why would oil company go and drill on that ground there may not even be oil there and let alone waste damn money because they can't run a pipeline to transport oil and gas off the well? >> if there was oil there, the gas companies would already be drilling it and they would already be producing. and -- it's a lie.
7:23 pm
lawrence: they said president or no one in administration reach outside to pipeline workers kind of sad joining me now on set is laid off from working on the keystone pipeline as well neil thanks so much for joining me. putin is a great villain he's responsible for a lot of bad things. but is he responsible for what's happening right now with american gas prices? >> absolutely not. you know, what i hear a lot about how oil is traded on global market but we could be number one player and we wouldn't have to deal with fluctuation on global market if we were number one supplier of oil in this country. we wouldn't have to deal with opec russia, saudi arabia, anything like that if we can supply them biggest amount of fuel that it takes to run this country we won't have to deal with things like. >> for people that are waving us saying why dongt you start drilling? what is prengting you guys from doing that? >> well you know being in the industry for 25 years, what i've
7:24 pm
seen in last five years are three things. it is permits, regulations and liberal lawsuits those are three things that's keeping us from dong what we want to do you know and they're all backed by democratic lawmakers. so when president biden says that he has absolutely nothing to do with what's going on with fuel price that's not the truth that's his party their policies and that's what is keeping us -- from we feel bad because we could be things right now that help the country out as far as energy prices go. >> you say climate activist you guys for what? >> excuse me? >> climate activist sue you guys? >> well -- it's a complicated situation but you know it is all about climate change you know, and i'm sorry that they think that, you know, burning fossil fuel is destroying planet but it is what we rely on green energy sector isn't ready to power it. we still rely on oil, and we
7:25 pm
rely on gas, and if we keep shutting ourselves out, we're going to be, i mean, we've dug ourselves big hole already in seems like biden wants to keep on digging deeper. >> if the president gave you space and there's already pressure from the country now you see reflective in polls right now. they think he's responsible for it. if he's unleash you guys to go do what you do best is provide energy for all of the us -- how long would it take before we start to see the price of fuel go down? >> well like i said we've already dug a deep hole. but the policies that biden administration -- is enforcing only going to make it deeper and only way to start clawing ourselves back out of this hole and it will take a while i'm not lying to you. but you know we're releasing oil from the strategic petroleum reserve -- doing things like suspending federal gas tax that's just
7:26 pm
band-aids only way to fix a problem is to make america number one in energy independence, and that's basically only way we can get out of it. lawrence: we were at one point -- but he decided to change that on day one. i think we have to pay a heavy price from it for it because you see american people are outraged neil crabtree thank you. could president biden in withdraw be to blame for current crisis in ukraine? plus, more trouble for the radical los angeles district attorney george gascón. he's now going after his own people in his office. got to hear this stuff. stay with us.
7:27 pm
7:28 pm
7:29 pm
7:30 pm
lawrence: welcome back to cross country it is estimated that the u.s. left billions of dollars worth of military equipment in afghanistan after biden bouts to withdraw and many people are questioning asked to arm awrns and chad wolf is here to shed light on that issue. mr. secretary, it was already a national security issue to just leave that equipment there for the taliban to have. but why wouldn't we knowing intelligence we have about
7:31 pm
russia invading ukraine arm ukrainian people with that material? >> well lawrence i think that's really the question right so what we saw in august was about 83 million, billion dollars worth of quilt in afghanistan for the taliban and at the same time in july of last year, we heard vladimir putin talking about his plans for ukraine so if you're biden administration or national security counsel you're putting two to two together you should be -- and you should say hey some of the this equipment that we no longer need let's start moving that to ukraine where they can use it. and they would use it. but i think what this again signals is the rash or i should sate hasty withdrawal from afghanistan that we saw it wasn't planned it wasn't coordinated. and in effect we have to leave all of that equipment instead of it giving it to our allies and others around the world that we knew could benefit from it at the end of the day. lawrence: yeah, obviously, you know that biden administration
7:32 pm
say that back when you were request trump administration you guys were responsible for that because of the negotiation y'all did with the taliban. what would you say to that? >> well i think that's been debunked time and time again over the last six or seven months again, president trump had a totally different not only approach but strategy in place and certain conditions were going to have to be met in afghanistan before any type of withdrawal of u.s. troops completely. air force base probably wouldn't have been given up in the list goes on and on and the way we withdrew from afghanistan was who are risk it was a mistake unfortunately 1 service members lost their lives because of that. lawrence: marmingt of americans said under past administration they believe that -- that the president trump would not have gone whroong that toipght get your reaction here to another poll because it is interesting here shows that majority of americans would
7:33 pm
fight back and arm themselves to stay and fight if america was invaded like ukrainian people but when you break it down by party, this got me. 68.of the gop said they would stay and fight but only 40% of democrats said they would fight are you surprised by that mr. secretary? >> well i am. i'm not surprised by first number i think vast majority of americans would stay and fight and along party lines e agree with you that majority of democrats who would not stay and fight i think what this tells you is they don't believe network is worth defending at the end of the day these are individuals many of them that condemn america believe it was conceived in sin. they don't fight for our history. they don't want to defend our heritage or defend our workers. and they doangts want to defend our borders atsd end of the day unfortunately, when you think about it that way i guess poll is not that surprising. but it should be, it should wake
7:34 pm
up a lot of folks. lawrence: deep trouble if that's the case. that amongst partylines -- that only 40% of democrats would stand for that i think that is embarrassing thanks so much mr. secretary for joins us now. also congressman darrell i.c.e. is issa congressman toipght get you on because we've been hearing a lot about kamala harris representing united states on the world's stage. how do you think the vice president did? i woangt say she was laughable but she was laughing and that bodes poorly for how effective she is both in front and behind closed doors. you know every time we send the vice president somewhere we send her to somewhere in which we are in failure and continue to be in failure. although in the case of afghanistan we did sending her to vietnam and nothing bad happened there.
7:35 pm
but we are dealing with a situation in which the question is why is the president not leading, why sending somebody there with no military training, no national security training, it really is -- i say again, laughable but i don't laugh on television when i'm asked a serious question. i would have advised her to quit doing it in front of the world stage. j i would like our audience to see what the vice president had to say on the world stage. let's take look. >> is the united states willing to make a specific allocation for ukrainian refugees in and for president toipght know if you think and if you asked united states specifically refugees -- >> okay. [laughter] a friend in need is a friend in need. [laughter] that was a basic question that someone like the vice president
7:36 pm
should know. you know, congress man i'm rooting for vice president -- because the root for the vice president is to root for the country. but it seems like every task that administration gives her she just doesn't seem suitable for the role. don't take my word for it, many people on her staff are leaving or have already left because they say she doesn't read briefings and she's not prepared and when you challenge her on that, she gets defensive. >> well this look -- being the vice president is a tough job because you're not the president. you have to speak for the president. and right now we have a president who is seemingly ambivalent to what's going on we have 14 billion in aid to ukraine. just before adjourning for the weekend, the president took great pride in announcing 200 million dollars was being sent there. needs those jets, he needs
7:37 pm
antiaircraft capability to create if he will no-fly zone for russians. and we're incredibly busy right now around the world in failed areas as a result of this president showing weakness in afghanistan and weakness elsewhere as you know, we just had our consulate shelled by apparently 12 rockets. they just landed. that is a provocative move bit russian back iranian dealing with another front if we don't start showing strength we used to show. lawrence: i have limited time but i want to circle back on that. what do you know about this attack have you been briefed on anything concerning that attack? >> well what we know is that in october -- the russians and iranians signed a neutral cooperation military cooperation agreement in january they began -- joint exercises with the chinese. and now they are not taking
7:38 pm
blame or credit for it. and they probably will claim that it was a rogue militia but these kinds of ballistic missiles are military assets of government. and this case it was the iranian region that shelled our consulate. we are very fortunate that out of apparently 12 rockets none have taken casualties. but it sends a message, and one of the challenges right now is we know it is a message. we're not sure what that message means yet. >> response be congressman? >> it should, it should be measured because iran is not the target. right now russia and ukraine and making sure they stay focused is the target. but this president has to stop negotiating with iran at a time when they're clearly not coming to the table with anything to offer. and that would show walking away would show right message. lawrence: we're going to be monitoring that all night congressman thanks so much for your insight on the brags news so here back at home l.a.

7:43 pm
lawrence: my boss has implemented a lot of bad ideas. are the criminals aware of these changes? >> they're fully aware. >> they actually love the d.a. and -- lawrence: criminals love the d.a. can't be doing job if that's the case. so we've been hearing criticism of l.a. progressive descringt attorney george gascón since he took office. this week, we're learning two of the prosecutors in his office are suing claiming gascón demoted them for pushing back against his far left criminal justice reform. alex joins me now he's a vice president of the association of los angeles deputy district attorneys. eric thanks so much for joining
7:44 pm
me. so i've been covering this d.a. from the very beginning talked to a lot of deputies in that office. so far until this week, i hasn't heard of any retaliation he said he left them alone what changed this week? >> well there is actually been a lot of retaliation on day one, he retaliated against a head deputy for following the law. and unfortunately right now los angeles well, we have is a district attorney who punishes those who follow the law and excuses those who break the law. so no, this d.a. has had a history of retaliation if you -- if he doesn't like what you have to say, if he doesn't like that you're following the law, then he punishes you and i think one of the things that is very telling about this -- lawsuit is what are the quotes from him is that his lawyer it
7:45 pm
is, the deputy district attorneys follow the law too much that's from his mouth. lawrence: that is what the district attorney by the way used to be a police chief is saying to the deputy d.a.? >> right. that we follow the law too much, and it's pretty shocking a lot of the -- the materials that were presented in this lawsuit by two very senior prosecutors, two prosecutors are extremely respected throughout our office. maria ramirez and victory rodriguez both very senior prosecutors, they allege in their lawsuits that one of the things that this district attorney has said that is that our d.a. are following law too much and just remind your viewers our union actually had to sue him in court and get
7:46 pm
injunction basically to force him to follow the law. and again, we really shouldn't be surprised you know, many people may not know this. but the director attorney of los angeles george gascón has never actually tried a case. he's never appeared in court. the only time that he's ever appeared in court is because he's being sued by one of his employees for retaliation. >> so sir i have to ask you this because -- i've heard this numerous amount of time that he hire affiliate folk out of the public defenders office. the rank in file that are there is it some of you gist that are talking about this or is the majority of you guys to feel like there's an issue going on where you cannot defend the people of los angeles? >> so that was one of the reasons why we as a organization decided to open up a vote to all of our members to make -- determination whether we should endorse the recall of george
7:47 pm
gascón. in 98% of our membership voted -- to recall him. lawrence: unbelievable. >> let me give you a number that is amazing only 12 people in the largest local prosecutortorial agency support d.a. only 12. lawrence: got to get him out of here people of los angeles have to vote putting lives of young people elderly people let people do what they want in the city. eric thanks so much for stanging for truth and fighting for the people of los angeles. thanks so much for coming on the show coming up more of the breaking news out of iraq. iran has fired 12 ballistic missiles near a u.s. consulate in that country. next a hero from the battle of -- benghazi here to break down threats facing america. that's next on cross country.
7:48 pm
7:49 pm
7:50 pm
7:51 pm
lawrence: america enemies are taking note of the chaos currently unfolding in ukraine and singly use an opportunity to push for new world order. north korea launch satellites into space within with intention of monitoring u.s. and our allies iran is pushing to regain power via nuclear deal and breaking tonight, we learn it
7:52 pm
