>> kayleigh: fox news alert. vladimir putin is taking his war on ukraine to nato's doorstep. russia bombing a military base near the border with poland killing thousands of people and stoking fears that one wrong move could it ignite a global conflict. even as russian and ukrainian officials meet for another round of talks, putin is turning his sights once again on the capital steve. i'm emily compagno and this is outnumbered. i'm here with harris faulkner and kayleigh mcenany. also joining us today is kennedy

and marc. a heartbreaking look of despair on that little girl's face as her home is transformed into a war zone. putin's intense air strike covering a south city and rubble and concrete. that is where a hospital came under russian missile fired last week and ukrainian soldiers rushed this pregnant woman out of a hospital on a stretcher. we have now learned that both she and her baby have died. an american journalist was shot and killed after russian forces open fired on his vehicle out of the capital. all of this is putin's army ranked up to the b to. trey yingst is in kyiv. what you have for us to that question works become a tragic story yesterday of that u.s. journalist.

people putting their lives in harm's way to cover the story. we do know that russian forces are working their way toward the capital of kyiv. we have heard shelling. you can see in the images there are shells landing in the capital right now. two people were killed at an apartment complex in kyiv earlier today and a number of others injured during this russian attack. ukrainian say they have dug into fences and they are going to try to push back the russian forces that are advancing. there's another video here. you can see a russian missile slammed into a side lot killing one person and injuring a number of people at that location. the destruction familiar here and other parts of the city, country. mariupol where a hospital was hit during a russian strike. the woman who is in this image, this heartbreaking image being carried out of the hospital has tragically died according to the

provide the ukrainians with those fighters that they are asking for, that president zelenskyy has been asking for, it's only going to put us in a tougher situation. let's set able to encircle kyiv but not able to take the capital. we can have a situation where we have a seizure of kyiv where people are starving in the streets and residential areas are being bombed. we need to do a berlin airlift providing mentoring supplies to the city. nato planes flying over ukraine. would it be better to give planes now so they can propel the invasion and prevent the siege? every time we hesitate to do something, we make the situation more desperate and more dangerous. >> emily: and it seems like the boundary are only to our responses. there are no boundaries to putin's brutality. we have reports of an orthodox christian monastery bombed that was sheltering hundreds of refugees including children pair there will be no end to these horrific stories unless there is

an end to this war. >> kennedy: i'm glad you brought that out. as an eastern orthodox christian, we mourn that. vladimir putin has claimed to be a champion of orthodoxy, and he certainly is not. he started out his political career pretty much an atheist and has really glommed onto orthodoxy just to conquer people's hearts and minds. if he is trying to do that and ukraine because it's in the territory, for him, it's about people who share a national identity. you are not bringing people over to your side. if you are not being persuasive when you are bombing cancer hospitals, maternity hospitals, a sacred eastern orthodox holy site where people are taking shelter because they think it is the one place that they will be safe. this person has no shame. he is awful.
9:06 am
in many ways, it has been pointed out that if he really is trying to convince people that they are russian and that is the best way to be, he has already failed. >> emily: kayleigh, this is a returning old playbook on putin's part. what is new this time around is the proximity to nato. >> kayleigh: it striking. the international peacekeeping and security center is in western ukraine. it was hit by 30 missiles. 35 people killed and 134 people injured. that is just 12 miles from poland which is nato territory. 12 miles. to bring us closer to home, last month you had florida national guard there. 165 soldiers from the florida national guard stationed at the very building shell the 30 russian missile. they were evacuated on february 12. weed american shoulders there. jake sullivan went out on a show
9:07 am
and was asked point blank if there was an accidental errant shot into nato territory, but we do? he said all i would say is if russian attacks, fires upon, the nato alliance will respond. that was in response to axing if there was an accidental missile. this is becoming dangerously close to home. it's not world war iii yet, but it feels a little closer when there are missiles leaning 12 miles from poland. >> emily: harris, we were all a part of programming on wednesday when we saw the first image as of that pregnant women being brought out of that maternity hospital. she was alive then. as we have learned, she has passed away. medics did not even know her name. in the chaos, they weren't able to get it. her husband and the father of the baby was able to retrieve her body and said at least she won't end up in the mass grave like so many other thousands of ukrainians. >> harris: and the baby died too. the mom and the baby will hopefully be together for
9:08 am
eternity in that sense. that father can say goodbye and -- it's never closure. it's more. i want to piggyback off of something you said. i think it is really bearing what happened at the end of the focus. it's time to put a boot on putin's neck. let's not talk to his administration. part of where we are today is because we have a president was slow walking things. you cannot blame president biden for the fact that putin is a madman. but you can lean and pretty hard on how you deal with a madman from the very beginning. when you need that madman to deal a deal at a table with iran, you are already in a capitulated position. and he said we do not need a run. and we don't need russia to get together. you can't trust russia. you can set russia aside in the deal.
9:09 am
there's a lot going on outside of this war with ukraine that is going to have ramifications based on what this administration is doing right now. general kellogg and colonel davis, a couple of guests on the faulkner focus. it could be a tipping point of a mistake that gets us into world war iii. that is the problem with taking a shot ten to 12 miles outside of a border were 2 million people have just taken refuge. you know we have people on the ground there. we are part of the humanitarian effort paired whether it's red cross, whoever it is. the fact that we don't have demographics on the westerners on the training base, if any of them were from nato countries, then what? it did not cross the border, but as the ambassador said in the general agree with, it caught way too close. it could not have been an

accident. if you think boot can at a hospital, he doesn't know where the border of poland and ukraine as? >> kayleigh: he knows what he's doing. there's nothing indiscriminate about this. he knows that he is bombing hospitals. he is like a petulant child that is pushing, pushing, pushing as hard as he can. i hate to say it, but nothing surprises me. i wouldn't be surprised if he starts bombing poland. he might want to take the entire world down with him. it is hard to believe that in this era where we have had so much progress and so much evolution, particularly technologically, but even in health and mental health. the waves that we are in conversations not just in the u.s. but around the world. i am aghast that there are still murders people who are hell-bent on taking things by force in

their country to fight question right not only to fight, but many have returned to take care of elders who are going to hospitals, were taking care of those who can't get out. i just read a story this morning of a woman and her elderly mother. the elderly mother returned. she said i have to go back and help protect my country. that is such a sad distinction between those. such a warrior spirit and where your heart versus those we are reading about the poll in america. >> harris: we don't want to throw everybody under the bus. you talk about the comfort. you know what comes to mind when you talk about that? i'm thinking of the border. i'm thinking of those ranchers i have interviewed down there who are willing to fight for the land because the government will not help stave off the onslaught of millions of illegals coming across the border. people are coming for all sorts of reasons, but they have had a crime burst down there. it's very dangerous. you know, you have been. >> kayleigh: something bigger
9:34 am
is at play here. i think america's critics have led a significant part of this country to believe america is not worth fighting for. >> harris: that is heartbreaking. >> kayleigh: the reason i say that it is because it's very audacious to admit to a pollster that you would not fight for this country at 52% of democrats did. these 52%, they had an option to lie and it would've cost them nothing to say i'm a patriot mustang fight. that suggests they have empathy toward the country. with generation who is being told that american exceptionalism is not real. we are systemically racist and our justice system. these are things were being told. people are ashamed to say i'm an american and that sad. i'm proud to be an american. we have sins in our history, but this is a great country full of great patriots. we need to act like it and said we will fight for the american ideals. >> harris: breaking news right now and we are getting brand-new

my kids are amazed with the ukrainian people. they are learning a lesson that evil does exist, but people are willing to stand up and fight and people are willing to defend their country. by the way, it's important to remember that america is not the government. it's the people of the country. if you look at the afghan situation where we left hundreds of americans and tens and thousands of our african allies behind, the government abandon them, but there are american veterans who are stepping up and restaurant people. i was with mike edwards from project exodus relief. they've been focusing on rescuing afghan special operations. they were brought to the united states and cut green beret training, army ranger training, and they went back and never folded away. he's bringing them into the united states united states originally told me? these guys are saying send us to ukraine. they want to go fight and push back against evil. afghan is not out to kill

give us an opportunity for republicans? and i'm not seeing them do it. ask questions. i interview people all the time and they say what they would do. you should not have to be prompted. i would go out on a day is right now and talk about all of the things that i would be doing to make it better as an american citizen. not a somebody who is running in november, but all the things i would do. by the way, if you vote for the other side, blah, blah, blah. this is an opportunity for republicans to double down on what they are for. they will not get any fight back because democrats are busy right now trying to defend all of the bad choices they are making in life. your kid leaves for the party. mom, i'll be back at whatever time. make good choices. they are busy trying to make those good choices. republicans could be busy trying to do something else. if you think it is tough to beat them now, let that grow momentum. >> kayleigh: you are exactly right. emily, i want to present you

for it and we should call them out for it. we should also provide alternative policies. i had to make this point. we have an ongoing conversation about how the measure of a presidency is sometimes revealed in the moments that are unforeseen. in the issues and traumas that are unforeseen. what we are seeing here in this administration is a failure on both fronts. both with the unforeseen geopolitical threats, the things that have arisen because of boudin's lunacy and the like, and we've also seen the other failures from policies they intimate today one. things of voters asked for that they double down with. the time is right for the g.o.p. to say here is how we would restore stability, order, safety, currency, the like, and a clear way to dispel through the confusion and the continued smoke bombs being uttered out of these incumbents throats and mouths when it finally ate some common and rationalization would go a long way.

russia's space agency has released a video showing the two cosmonauts leaving their american counterpart and detaching the russian segment of the station. >> emily: after which elon musk's ads is own video of him flying up and saving him. what breaks my heart is that we've spoken with former astronauts who spoke in on the international space station with the russians and say that the best part is the international relationship. the best part is a human to human relationship developed when you work in space because the reality is we are all humans on this planet and we are not under that one flag. russia is the one that has made it the latter. it reminds me of the reason we have mass in the first place. remember sputnik? it was a spaceport. we were engaged in it with russia peered reducing the same pattern here. eisenhower back then downplayed what he thought was a significance of the russians watching sputnik into place. the american public perception was one of horror as they sought russia eclipses in that way.
