tv   The Ingraham Angle  FOX News  March 15, 2022 7:00pm-8:00pm PDT

7:00 pm
unfortunately that's all th time we have left this evening. thank you for being with us. you make this show possible. set your dvr so you never miss an episode. tomorrow you will have the latest as president zelenskyy addresses congress. laura is next. have a great night. see you tomorrow. i am laura ingraham and thi is "the ingraham angle" from washington tonight. the capitol city of ukraine is currently under a 35 hour curfe as russian forces close in. despite that, the leaders of th czech republic, poland and slovenia arrived today for a briefing from president zelenskyy on the war effort. one of the biggest developments was transfixed admitting in a call with representatives of th uk led joint expeditionary forc that ukrainians needed to accep that their country will not be joining nato. this statement is being seen by
7:01 pm
some observers as a potential, and i say potential, first step towards an agreement with russi to end this madness. in moments we will take you through all the latest details with greg live in levee. but first, as ukrainian and russian diplomats reit for a fifth round of talks if you can believe it, we asked, where is joe biden? why is the greatest world superpower helping in any way, shape, or form to broker a cease-fire? as we see in other leaders from france to germany engage with food and directly with the hope of drawing this war to an end. the president of the most powerful nation in the world ha been absent. today we did learn that he will be engaging in nine days from now, but not in the lead role. the president will chop travel to belgium later this month wil or he will join the nato summit on march 24th to discuss ongoin deterrence and defense efforts
7:02 pm
in response to russia's unprovoked and unjustified attack on ukraine as well as to reaffirm our ironclad commitmen to our nato allies. >> here's the translation. he will tell biden what the dea is and by then we'll just nod. that's my translation. sending biden to brussels and putting his ineptitude on full display will be an utter catastrophe and it will be made worse by something he said just hours ago. tomorrow nato is set to tell it military commanders to draw a plan for new ways to deter russia following moscow's invasion of ukraine including more troops, more missile defenses in eastern europe. is that really going to ease tension? will president biden commit mor american resources to this effort? joining me now is former director of national intel john ratcliffe. you say that former intel counterparts have told you some disturbing things about what
7:03 pm
biden is seeing in this role to the europeans and maybe to chin on the world stage actually doe for this current situation. explain your concern. >> laura, to your point about why the u.s. isn't more involve as the world superpower is because the worlds expectation and our allies expectation for joe biden and his administratio have been lowered as a result o what they have seen in the past year. i talked to my former counterparts intelligence counterparts and some of our strongest allies, and what they relay is the problem there is n longer a perception that joe biden be seen as week. the fact that joe biden has proven that he is weak through his decisions and people have seen in afghanistan and in the lead up to this crisis that became an invasion in the ukraine. our allies have seen what the american people have seen. joe biden makes promises that h doesn't keep. he makes promises that he doesn't remember. he makes promises that he walks
7:04 pm
back. as a result, that is why you ar seeing things like volodymyr transfixed tomorrow by passing biden and going directly to congress. that's why leaders of foreign countries like the saudi prince and the chic of the uae last week not taking bidens phone calls even to talk about the oi crisis worldwide. the rest of the world is rising to meet the challenge of vladimir putin. unfortunately, they don't see joe biden as particularly relevant to coming to meet that challenge. >> jen psaki tried to explain what bidens goals are going to be when he heads to brussels. he is physically going to fly t brussels. watch. >> his goal is to meet in person , face to face with his european counterparts and talk about and assess where we are a this point in the conflict in the invasion of ukraine by
7:05 pm
russia. we have been incredibly aligned to date. that doesn't happen by accident. the president is a big believer in face-to-face diplomacy. it's an opportunity to do exactly that. >> you have heard of shuttle diplomacy. this is shutter diplomacy. the face of diplomacy? what does that mean, especially on the heels of kamala harris not knowing that ukraine was no a member of nato in her remarks? this is embarrassing. >> that is the problem. even before joe biden goes there . the problem is his words are viewed as empty and his actions have proven to be timid and reluctant in late to the game. as you talked about, as joe biden sends kamala harris to a meeting to stutter through a meaningless press conference in romania, the polish, czech and
7:06 pm
slovenian prime ministers literally went into kyiv to mee with zelenskyy in the middle of a war zone. even the swedes and the swiss who are usually on the sideline are all rising to meet the challenge. joe biden is all about words. when it comes to actions, he's doing things like impeding the delivery of polish megs to the ukrainians. since president zelenskyy begge congress for tomorrow are the things that joe biden should have been giving him months ago when the intelligence was clear that russia was going to invade. joe biden strategy was if russi invades, then we will get involved and help ukraine. if russia involves then we will impose sanctions. this is exactly what was going to happen. it's a little wonder that the world has moved on and this crisis hopefully will be solved but it won't be solved by the biden administration. >> there was a moment from an
7:07 pm
interviewee that the secretary of state gave today that you have to see. watch. >> how real is the risk of this spiraling into nuclear war? >> we have real concerns that russia could use a chemical weapon, another weapon of mass destruction. >> if they do use weapons what will nato and the u.s. allies do ? >> we have been clear, includin with russia and with others, that there would be a very serious response. i will not spell it out here. the consequences would be severe . >> your reaction to that. >> my reaction is more of the same from the biden administration. it underscores the fact that vladimir prudence deterrence is working. all he has to do is retitle the favor talk about nuclear weapon or chemical weapons and the biden administration backs down and says, well, we cannot do something because it might be
7:08 pm
exploited tory. the rest of the countries involved in this are all stepping up. they are hearing the exact same threats, and yet prime minister are going into war zones to mee with zelenskyy to solve the problem. the biden administration is looking for ways to not lead, but to stay at the back of the room. it's unfortunate. >> just a simple question. would any of this be happening if donald trump were president? >> it didn't happen when donald trump was president. that's the answer to the question. it didn't happen because vladimir putin would not have done those things just as president would not be doing th things he was doing in taiwan and iran would not be doing the things they are doing. it's about to turn. we don't have that. we are not imposing that on our adversaries. >> the answer is no, they wouldn't have been doing this. great to see you as always. thank you. and now, false flags.
7:09 pm
that's the focus of 10 nights angle. a popular liberal on social media know what smith tweeted something that spoke volumes about the democrats political desperation. with inflation, thermostatic politics and now a likely economic slow down, the best hope for the midterm is probabl to use a rally round the flag appeal by bashing russia hard and emphasizing trump ties to boudin. not just that, okay, if you can believe that one. they are now going around the p word. they dared to question the rush to war mindset. mitt romney got very angry. false russian propaganda for treasonous lies that will cost lives. the media echo chamber, of course, followed suit. >> we are now seeing a turn tha i never thought i would see in my life. people who are deliberately working to undermine the
7:10 pm
american structure. >> really close to each region. >> i think doj should look into people who are russian propagandist and shilling for boudin. >> they say patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel. this is despicable. who needs comedy when you have these people trying to claim a monopoly on patriotic fervor over the ukraine invasion when for the past two years they hav insisted that america is systemically racist? bidens own un ambassador belief are sound in wickedness. we have to acknowledge that we are an imperfect union of the original sin of slavery. white supremacy into our founding documents and principles. >> biden secretary of state. >> we know we have work to do a home. that includes addressing profound inequities, including systemic racism.
7:11 pm
>> and our own vice president went even further. >> racism israel and america an it has always been. xena phobia israel and america and always has been. sexism, too. >> i don't know why she throws that in at the end. and biden reads whatever they throw in front of them not realizing the constant america bashing hurts is credibility at home and abroad. >> racism, the ugly poison it has long hunted and plagued our nation. systemic racism is a stain on our nation sold. a knee on the neck of justice for black americans. >> weight. according to them, ours is a nation with a stain on it soul and is structurally racist, xenophobic and sexist. how on earth could that america be the xavier for any other country in distress? by the way, the farce gets
7:12 pm
better. now they are extending their treason to anyone who points ou the fact that gas prices have been rising way before putin went into ukraine. >> they are blaming biden for rising gas prices. meanwhile who gets off scott free? not just putin, but the big oil and gas companies. >> to not blame boudin is denying reality. and second, it's un-american. >> the people now using putin inhumane war to demand endless sacrifice for the taxpayers and then those people questioning other peoples patriotism. they are the same ones who spen a lifetime doing enormous damag to the fabric of america. their policy sent millions of jobs in our industrial base to asia, imported 20 million illegal aliens into the united states. the policy raised crime rates, turned our schools into
7:13 pm
propaganda institutes and toppled our history. >> christopher columbus was removed. >> i don't even have my grandmothers ring. i am not wedded to a statue. i don't care that much about statues. >> until they build a statue of her, she doesn't care about statues. people will do what they do and they did. they burned cities. they held neighborhoods hostage. they threatened ordinary americans who didn't chant thei slogans or post supportive comments on social media. and the elite all the while gav them coverage. >> violence and brutality and make sure the people understand that black lives matter. >> show me where it says that protesters are supposed to be polite and peaceful. >> but now we are supposed to take our patriotic use from people like them? no thanks they will defame you,
7:14 pm
sense or you, send your jobs overseas and yet now they want you to jump on bidens bandwagon for the war that they will neve officially get declared in congress. this is how most dishonest attempts to turn the table we have witnessed in ages. they know in their hearts it's not working. >> so far biden has not receive any political capitol that president zelenskyy has offered him. >> at the end of the day we remained in incredibly polarize country. we will not give president bide any credit at all even if you like what his administration is doing. >> biden has got no real bump from the state of the and is no getting much now. americans do feel terrible and awful about ukraine. but they also feel terrible about a lot of what is happenin to their own country. a new poll that the press is feverishly trying to spend as good news for biden really isn't . at least not when you give people the relevant facts.
7:15 pm
when yahoo! news asked half of respondents whether they suppor or oppose u.s. troops and forcing a no fly zone over ukraine with no added context, 40% outnumbered opponents by 25% . what happened when the other half of the respondents were told that a no fly zone means that we could actually shoot down a russian plane and possibly trigger a war between the u.s. and russia? then support plummeted by nearl have to 23% while opposition to that almost doubled to 43%. the biggest shift came among republicans who went from supporting a no fly zone by a 22-point margin to opposing it by a 38 . margin. facts really do matter. all those americans, are they selfish? are they pro- putin traders? how many of those virtuous signaling with the flag emojis are actually uncomfortable with the enthusiastic flying of the
7:16 pm
american flag themselves? >> how to separate american in america from whiteness. i was on long island this weekend visiting a dear friend and i was disturbed. i saw dozens and dozens of pickup trucks with trump flags and in some cases dozens of american flags, which is also disturbing possessed essentiall the message is clear. this is my country. this is not your country. i own it. >> wow. we tried to warn the democrats that they were making a huge mistake by going so far to the left, but they wouldn't listen. but now, the day of liberation is coming. we have an election on the firs tuesday of this november and then another in two years. we will finally be rid of these fools. until then, we have to do everything in our legal power t
7:17 pm
protect and conserve what we still have in america. we don't want american troops dying for an undeclared word. we certainly don't want to keep spending money we don't have. we don't want america used as a bait to boost multinational organizations and the ccp. we certainly don't feel obliged to join their false flag patriotism. the establishment bet on the international order in against the american people. now, the american people are going to give them their comeuppance. that's the angle. joining me now is newt gingrich former speaker of the house and fox news contributor. the left is so desperate at thi point to save themselves from utter annihilation in november. they decided to become the flag waivers and to claim treason on the part of anyone who has dare to question them. your reaction tonight. >> part of that isn't a big
7:18 pm
change. they have always been prepared to smother anybody who disagree with them, to kick them out, to cancel them, to fire them and drive them out of public life. it changed a little of the direction, but the attitude hasn't changed. the problem for the left is simple. it is failing. it's failing in ukraine. it's failing with inflation. it's failing with open borders. it's failing with levels of crime. when you go through area after area, i just talked to a post i new york state which is a state that biden carried by a huge margin. he is now some 25 points underwater in a state he carrie by a big margin. people wake up in the morning and look at the most recent examples. the guy stabbed two people at the museum of modern art. the person is going around as a serial killer killing people wh are homeless. people look at that stuff and
7:19 pm
say this isn't working. then they go to buy gasoline. that is not working. wait until you see the impact o the price of wheat, which is actually going up faster then the price of oil. presently you will see food problems that are amazing. people will say, this isn't working. when you watch biden and you watch harris, the question is, which is the more incompetent? harris in poland was an utter, total embarrassment. every american had to feel something was wrong there. of course, biden i think is totally out of touch with reality and it's been pathetic. the result is the chinese are more important. you have syrians potentially coming into europe as a fightin force. you have europeans who have no respect for the current america administration. you have putin thinking as long as he yells nuclear war he can get away with anything he wants
7:20 pm
to including killing civilians, bombing maternity hospitals, attacking nuclear reactors work you have an administration in washington which is totally out of touch with reality. >> back to your point on the crime in the united states. i think what we are seeing in these polls is awful and tragic and horrific as putin's war is, the mom and pop small businesses , the american families are most concerned about what is happening in schools and what is happening t their family budget and what is happening on the street. it is so bad in seattle that we learned tonight that amazon is at least temporarily relocating 1800 of its employees out of seattle because it has become such a hell hole of crime. i think this is an opportunity. do you not agree for republican 50 state strategy to wipe the democrats out in 2024.
7:21 pm
not just in the old red state block, but across the country from new york to washington state to california and beyond. >> i think republicans should encourage candidates and everywhere. i will say the congressional campaign committee has done in amazing job. they will have more candidates that we had in 1994, which at the time set a record. when you look at san francisco where the school board members who were recalled with over 70% vote, that was led by asian americans who are deeply offended that the left wing nut cakes want to destroy the schools as the key to their children's future. when you look at hispanic americans they are pro-life. they are for the work ethic. look from the democratic party
7:22 pm
which increasingly looks crazy. you had 89 democrats today signed a letter to biden from the house saying that the greatest threat is global warming. we are in the middle of a war. the greatest threat is global warming. how whacked out do you have to be? >> it's great to see you as always. thank you so much. we have breaking news out of ukraine. we are learning about new air raid sirens. joining me on the ground is senior foreign affairs correspondent greg. what can you tell us tonight? >> reporter: overnight we had a few extended air raid sirens here in levee. no sign exactly about what they were warning about. over in kyiv things were much worse. air raid sirens and explosions on the outskirts of that capita city. the russians stepped up the indiscriminate bombardment by altar lori. we saw most of the day on tuesday dozens of civilians killed. the main forces still outside
7:23 pm
the center. the showing of the capitol by russians to become more systematic. the buildings left burning racks . meanwhile relief for the people of the port city. 20,000 people made their way ou in cars in the last two days. there are 400,000 people remaining there. 2200 are feared dead. talks today between ukraine and russia were characterized as difficult. some sign of possible compromise . here in levee there was a funeral for four soldiers kille in the missile attacks that we have seen here in the west. shelters, we are told, bursting with refugees. hospitals filled with the wounded. russian forces maybe coming fro the north or from belarus is th next concern. we had a chance to sit down wit the mayor of levee on tuesday. he told us that they can beat
7:24 pm
the russians if they get more weapons, more arms. it sounds like a very tall orde at this point. it's a terrible tragedy. back to you. >> the thing i have been thinking about for the past 20 for hours, it is obviously our colleagues. and their families. and you and everyone in harm's way. it is heartbreaking and so upsetting. i think of the people in ukrain without basic food. food is running out in a lot of parts of ukraine. what can you tell us about that. how are they coping? >> in cities there is a kind of siege mentality on the russian strategy side. they cannot really tactically win, so they can just basically starve the people out with the cities where there is artillery
7:25 pm
and pound away. thank you for mentioning our lost colleagues. we worked together for more tha 20 years and he was a brilliant cameramen and brilliant journalist. and a very dear friend. we will miss him very much. >> thank you very much. worse than biden abroad is the policies at home. just today we learned that the price index reached historic highs again last month. rising a whopping 10% year over year. the main culprit was the skyrocketing energy prices brought about by 15 months of bidens destructive policies against fossil fuels. they want you to look elsewhere. >> make no mistake. the current spike in gas prices are largely the fault of vladimir putin. >> this starts with putin. >> how much of this crisis exacerbates the problem we already have? >> i think there is no doubt
7:26 pm
about it. >> janet yellen, when does she ever criticize china? never. joining me is the senator from the alaska. thank you for joining us tonight . how much longer are americans going to have to suffer because of an administration that is bowing down to the brainiacs despite the pain and suffering. this is beginning to cause american families. >> laura, let me begin by offering my condolences to you and your colleagues for your lost teammates at fox. i think american journalists ar doing heroic work. i want to add my condolences. you and i have talked about thi before. from day one, this administration has set out to actually undermine american energy production, stopping energy infrastructure, choking
7:27 pm
off financing to the american energy sector, definitely in alaska. you and i talked about this las time. i think a lot of this is intentional. these prices were rising almost from day one of the biden administration and way more tha 50% of the price rise occurred before the putin invasion. when you listen to their senior advisers john kerry, gina mc carthy, they have said rising prices will, quote, help us accelerate renewables. in some ways i think in many ways it is intentional. but the american people are suffering. it's also undermining our ability in terms of national security. they need a huge course correction. i highly doubt it will happen. >> it's not going to happen. senator times senator, nothing is going to happen until they are driven from office. nothing.
7:28 pm
americans are going to be told they have to sacrifice. they will have to suffer. they will have to suffer for ukraine. they have to suffer for the planet. they have to suffer for the nex covid variant. everyone watching tonight has t understand you are in for three more years of pain. maybe you can block some of it after november, but it will be pain, pain, pain. that's all they know how to dea out to the american public. i think mayor pete kind of laid out the biden plan for high gas prices today. watch. >> the president has taken a lo of steps to bring relief and help stabilize oil prices. there is a solution which is energy independence and a shift to renewable energy in this country. let's also remember that while oil prices and gas prices are famously something that is largely outside the direct control of any political figure. >> as he does his photo opt
7:29 pm
biking to and from work they ge to wait around until everyone has an electric car and there are charging stations on every corner. in the meantime what do we do for energy? >> remember, he mentioned energ independence. that's what the biden administration inherited from a republican congress and the trump administration. the president has talked about this is putin's price hikes. we know that is ridiculous. this is what they have done fro day one. the other thing that is hurting us is that they are going aroun the world saying we probably do need more energy, so we will be dictators in venezuela, iran fo energy. it's a simple solution, which i get the boot of the federal government off the neck of american energy producers and workers. we had energy independence 15 months ago. with these administration
7:30 pm
policies which purposely tried to undermine the production of american energy, you are seeing these high energy prices. to me, it's a very simple solution. but you are right. they want the pain because they think that is the way to move into the renewable sector and it's just not working. >> that is their new normal. permanent pain. senator, you nailed it. thank you. remember the seven hour meeting between bidens national security advisor and the chines counterparts we told you about last night? we told you at the time that china was just using us as just another opportunity to humiliat us. right on cue, the ccp propagand outfit did just that. although the ukraine issue was priority for the u.s. during tuesday's meeting to pressurize china to take a stand, it seems that the attempt has been unsuccessful. it means that the goal of the u.s. for this meeting has failed
7:31 pm
. here now is peter, hudson institute senior fellow. this was an embarrassment. jake sullivan might have had good intentions going here, but he will deal with one person an will deal with the president of the united states. he will not deal with jake sullivan. this is all just smoke and mirrors meaning nothing. why do you think china made it clear point to brush off the ukraine issue in their state media report on this meeting? >> war at the time is a clarifying moment. the chinese have faced a choice that could work with the west against russia or work with russia against the west. economics would suggest that they would work with the united states and europe. they need our advanced technology to power their economy and their economy is lagging at present. beijing's figures have their
7:32 pm
growth at around 5.5%. which by chinese standards is not that great. in the last 48 hours we have heard about the shutdown and lockdown of the major metropolitan center outside of hong kong. and of course the real estate sector is a total mess. leading into the presidents coordination for the communist party. you think they would prioritize that. they represent only 2% for a simple reason. the russians share the chinese vision of the world. they want to dismantle the american led international order . the russians may nearly be goin for global resins. the chinese for global dominance . at every point along the way since the war began on february 24th when they have had to choose. in the end they are prepared to perhaps make an effort with the russians to modify their behavior. they will not take any steps that will fundamentally damage their interest. >> china enjoys humiliating the
7:33 pm
biden administration. they felt like they were kicked around by trump with the terrorists. trump did the whole missile launch when he was at mar-a-lago . i'm sure he never forgot that. they enjoy that. they are taking great delight i this. it's always good to see you. thank you. pneumatically exposed one of th most odious figures behind the critical race theory virus that has been infecting schools across the country. you will be surprised, maybe. er. the time you spent on the docks, the banks, the boats. the lines you cast and hooks you set. these moments you share with the people you love. the fish you never forget, and the tales that get taller with every retelling. make memories that'll last a lifetime with bass pro shops and cabela's. your adventure starts here. [ marcia ] my dental health was not good.
7:34 pm
i had periodontal disease, and i just didn't feel well. but then i found clearchoice. [ forde ] replacing marcia's teeth with dental implants at clearchoice was going to afford her that permanent solution. [ marcia ] clearchoice dental implants gave me the ability to take on the world. i feel so much better, and i think that that is the key.
7:35 pm
7:36 pm
7:37 pm
7:38 pm
this woman married a convicted child molester and until recently was a director o ethnic studies for seattle public schools. here she is explaining her overall teaching philosophy.
7:39 pm
>> we have to build things up because their humanity has been so degraded because of colonization and anti- blackness . we have to build students of with their identity so they are safe enough in their identity t have these conversations about oppression. >> how did she put this twisted outlook into practice? under her leadership, the seattle school system decided t partially replace the curriculu of math and every grade with math ethnic studies. the goal was to close the achievement gap. that means lower the bar. the opposite happened. the performance of black students at those schools plummeted with the black passin rate dropping from 28% in math to under 18% the next school year. of course none of this failure did not deter castro gill who actually admitted helping minority students was never her goal. closing achievement opportunity
7:40 pm
gaps is a western way of thinking about education. we should never close that gap because it provides space for reflection and growth. we did not make that a. joining me now is the author of 25 lives. and the senior fellow at the manhattan institute who has bee instrumental in exposing crt in schools. you live in the seattle area. we reported about the amazon decision to move 1800 employees out of the city because of crime . and now this with the schools. this has got to be one of the most destructive things i have ever heard. >> that's right. a few years ago seattle was one of the most beautiful thriving and prosperous cities in the country. they elected a far left city council that wrecked it. it shows that public policy matters. these decisions have an impact. unfortunately i pulled my kids out of seattle public schools. it was a disaster. they were tying up disabled kids . they were fighting all the time.
7:41 pm
people were exposing themselves on the playground. total nightmare. it's all by design by these policymakers. >> a friend of mine said to me in 10 years there will be very few people of faith left in the public school system because they are so incredibly oppositional to any type of american tradition, respect for our constitution. they become left wing indoctrination camps. your thought on the future of public schools with this direction they are going in. >> i have a chapter in my book about public education and how the democratic party is against choice. let's make one thing perfectly clear. the democratic party and the teachers union are synonymous. they work together to do two things. to indoctrinate or demoralize the students. the democratic party is america's hell. it always has been and always will be.
7:42 pm
cs lewis told us that hell is a choice. i want to talk about it and the i see it. people that choose a party that would disarm you, indoctrinate your children into gender reassignment and will keep you in the ghetto with the songs an lyrics and movies tell you that the people are living in hell are choosing to live in hell. we have an option. we can decide to vote for candidates that support school choice, vouchers, charters, tax credits and get our children ou of the government school system. all school teachers are not bad. some are very good. some are terrible. the teachers union is a feeble institution. they are connected to the democratic party leadership in america. >> i want to remind everybody tonight that parents are waking up. moms are waking up of all political persuasions about wha is happening in schools. i want everyone to hear what an illinois mom had to say at a
7:43 pm
school board meeting recently about grooming children in school. watch. >> there have been some teacher counseling students, pushing a transgender agenda, telling those students, to keep it from their parents. i know in the high school there have been names changed and genders changed without parenta notice. >> this is tantamount to a war against parents. >> that's absolutely right. you are hearing it all over the country. teachers say children belong to them and not their parents. teachers unions feel the same way. parents are concerned and the facts are simple. according to the department of education the rate of sexual abuse in public schools is more than 100 times greater than sexual abuse in catholic churches which is a nationwide scandal. there's a lot of things going wrong. parent should be afraid of the
7:44 pm
grooming, the sexualization of their kids. we have seen with the legislation the stop of sexualization of kids from kindergarten through third grade . a huge effort against it. why do adults want to be talkin to kids about sex and sexuality when they are only four, five and six years old? it's got to be exposed. we need better policies and leadership to make it stop. >> i don't know about you guys but i am hoping the democrats run on this. if they really believe in this, they should run on it in november. that's what i'm urging them to do. great to see you both tonight. one day accusing a woman after serving in the military o treason, senator mitt romney told a bunch of rich elites outside of washington that we are facing in extraordinary challenge to democracy. who is he trying to appeal? we have some thoughts in a moment. stay there.
7:45 pm
7:46 pm
7:47 pm
7:48 pm
- coming home didn't feel right. the military for me had become my life and so, it just wasn't easy. there was nobody to relate to back home. so you alone. and that's the worst feeling in the world.
7:49 pm
and that's when i found wounded warrior project, and they were so welcoming. i like to say that they saved my life. wounded warrior project is my family because there's a host of others that are out there like me, whether it's mentally or physically, that are going through the same thing. - together, we play together. just like, exactly, exactly, exactly. (laughing) - but it took some time for me to actually realize that i'm worth it. and that's the biggest thing. you have to realize you're worth mitt romney lives in a worl where he and other trumpet neocons like liz cheney actuall believe that they are fighting valiantly for freedom. and of course they believe that america first conservatives are
7:50 pm
dangerous to our democratic system. this is the gist of what he tol a group of big donors at a liz cheney fundraiser in northern virginia last night. according to cbs news romney delivered remarks as a warning for the group which included many long-time members of the republican establishment of an extraordinary challenge in preserving democracy. joining me now is a conservativ commentator and host of the podcast. let me try to figure this out. if republicans wipe out the democrats in november, which we certainly hope they do, will that be preserving democracy or does it depend on the type of republicans who win? >> we suddenly ended this twilight zone in which the normal competition between the two parties and the fact that you even have an opposition party, the republicans, and the fact that they oppose the democrats on most issues is treated as a threat to democracy
7:51 pm
. what makes all of this particularly strange is to have romney in the senate and of course chainey in the house. joining in this kind of rhetoric . to listen to romney talk about the free world on one side and the authoritarians on the other to me it has the anti- green of 1987 in which there was a clear-cut distinction between the free world under reagan and we were living in the soviet er and the cold war. the world is very different now. russia is not motivated by the same kind of ideological fanaticism. china is to a greater degree. russia is basically a regime that has authoritarian elements. we see increasing authoritarian haze him in this country and th sharp distinction between us an them has become blurry. somehow romney and liz cheney have no grasp whatsoever of any of this. that rhetoric has the feeling o
