disagrees with him. speaking to the lawyer representing the anti-war protest on live tv, concern about that client's safety. >> carley: we begin with jonathan hunt on the ground in lviv, ukraine. jonathan. >> jonathan: carley and todd, good morning, three hours ago, what was a 35-hour curfew ended in the capital kyiv allowing residents time to emerge from basementings, bomb shelters, subway system, they had to shelter in to take a look at the damage, the rub nel their hard-hit city and get provisions for what may be to come. russian forces continued their onset, continued their targeting of civilians according to ukrainian officials. this was a theater in the southern city of mariupol. they had written on the ground
1:02 am
apparently kids shelter nothing here, kids, hundreds of them. that theater was bombed by the russians anyway. and in the city to the north of kyiv, according to the u.s. embassy, russian troops simply opened fire on a group of people waiting in a line to get bread. we understand that at least 10 people were killed in that attack. meantime, kyiv continued to burn under the onslot of russian missiles, the ukrainian president volodymyr zelenskyy said this is not just a fight for the ukrainian people, this is not just a fight for the country of ukraine, this is a fight for the world. listen here to the president of ukraine. >> the future.
1:03 am
>> i want to bring your attention to odesa, the city on the black sea, we haven't talked about it for a while now. we are seeing hundredss, perhaps thousands starting to run from odesa, fearing an imminent russian assault on that city. there was word yesterday of some shelling of the coastline there. we know that russian war ships are in the black sea off odesa, they may be preparing for all out assault. todd and carley, you guys mentioned the terrifying comments from president vladamir putin of russia yesterday talking about those who leave russia and will not go back to russia as "scum," and "traitors" and calling for what he called the puification of russia, hard
1:04 am
to remember language like that since nazi germany. >> carley: his rule could get tighter as the war plays out. i want to ask more about odesa on the black sea, if russia captures that city, it would give russia a significant strategic advantage, right? >> jonathan: absolutely. we've seen them attack other cities in the south along the coastline and odesa is the jewel, if you like, of the black sea. obviously it would be a major victory for the russia in staggering setback for ukraine, if the russias were able to take that. i can tell you this, carley, we have seen throughout the last couple weeks issue the people of odesa fortifying that town, certainly troops are there and ordinary civilians are prepared to fight. a lot of people leaving odesa in the last 24 hours, but there are plenty who will fight for every
1:05 am
inch of that city as ukrainians are fighting for every inch of this entire country. todd and carley. >> todd: there are talks about this off the ryan model, a neutral country with its own army and this is reportedly being pushed by the russian. is this something the ukrainians would ever go for? >> jonathan: you know issue the russians have put out what they said is a peace plan issue but it is a peace plan essentially on their terms that would give them territories that have been illegally seized in the eyes of the world. it would give them on their flank allegedly neutral country. they want control. i don't think there is any chance whatsoever that the ukrainian government or president zelenskyy would agree to terms as laid out there may be nuggets within there that can help move the process forward, but the ukrainians aren't going to say we're going to give up
1:06 am
control, declare ourselves to be, if you like issue the switzerland of this part of europe. they want a standing army, they want strong military capabilities and they want security guarantees all around, if we're going to get to anything that looks like lasting peace. >> todd: the war rages on. jonathan hunt, thank you. president zelenskyy warning start of world war iii may have begun just hours after his plea to congress. >> carley: president biden sends additional military support to ukraine, that does not include mig jets or a no fly zone. griff jenkins has the latest from washington. >> griff: president zelenskyy had a chilling answer when asked about the prospect of world war iii. listen. >> nobody knows whether it may have already started. nobody would be able to predict when the full-scale war would
1:07 am
start and how it will end and who will end that. >> griff: asking to stop the carnage in ukraine. requests were along with increased sanctions to keep punishing russia. it comes as president biden ratchets up rhetoric toward putin. watch. >> after everything we've seen, are you ready to call for a no -- >> president biden: no, you asked me whether i would call -- oh, i think he is a war criminal. >> a war criminal and the president provides ukraine with additional $800 million m military aid, including anti-tank systems and killer drones, for the first time.
1:08 am
biden stopped short of mig fighter jets and flow fly zone is still a hard no. >> press sect. psaki: it would require shooting down russian planes and we are not interested in get intoing world war iii. >> griff: zelenskyy moved the needle on capitol hill, where there are calls to do more. >> we need to do more, no american boots on the ground, no nato, no fly zone, give ukrainians the ability to control their skies. >> griff: americans back sanctions by 91%. they are split over how biden is handling things, only 46% approve. todd and carley. >> carley: griff jenkins, live in washington, thank you. brave russian employee who wasn't viral for anti-war protest could face adiggal--

additional consequences. she says she was interrogated for 14 hours and not allow to contact her family when arrested. >> todd: thank you for being here, what is next in the legal process for your client? >> so, as you know, she was arrested immediately after this act on live tv show and she spent more than 14 hours in police custody. she was interrogated by different people. we don't know who the people and don't know their names or their position in structures and special services. so after that -- after 14 hours without sleeping and whatever,
1:10 am
without any nap, so they go to court and then most strange thing that administrative article wasn't about -- it wasn't about bub licasion in social network, she publish a video where she explain her position and explain that -- marina ovsyannikova. maximum punishment for this administrative article is 15 days in jail, but -- lawyers, she has just penalty and so now she is safety, she is at home and hope that it will be nothing
1:11 am
anastasia burakova. nothing in criminal case, but we know now -- we don't know the article and we don't know how it goes on, but so we have at least two more punishment, but i hope just military inquiry, we can say that it is a criminal case or something like that. >> carley: the most serious is 15-year jail sentence and you are saying you hope it doesn't come to that. what was response like among the russian peep toll her protest? did it have the intended effect? >> so i saw a lot of support on social networks, but for sure now russia is afraid to speak public because of new
1:12 am
legislation about the war campaign, that is why i know that two people from the same tv channel -- but not published it. so that is why i think that most of the people support her, but can't say it. >> todd: got it. >> carley: understandably so. especially now. >> todd: russian will be able to distinguish true patriots from scum and traitors and will spit them out like a gnat that flew into their mouths. i am convinced a natural self-purification of society will only strengthen our country . this is not just your client,
1:13 am
this is anybody who goes from the kremlin line s. she scared of what could happen to her beyond just a jail sentence? >> so in fact, marina is not scared, she wanted to stay in russia. she say she love russia and won't leave there. she is really -- and i hope that she will be safe and she has to keep hope that everything will be okay and she will be free and not under criminal case. >> todd: fingers crossed. we appreciate your time and insight please check back in as the case progresss smchlt say putin's verbal attack will divide the country, our next guest says the kremlin's propaganda against western sanctions is working and putin is rallying support for invasion. >> carley: joining us live now.
1:14 am
thank you for joining us, you were born in russia, moved to america when you were 18 years old, you have interesting perspective on this. what are your thoughts on the sanctions the u.s. imposed on vladamir putin and the russia people and what the effect of them will actually be? >> uh-huh. good morning, todd and carley. thank you for having me. if we take a look at the sanctions, they certainly succeeded in hurting russian economy and citizens of russia. however, i don't think they ultimately achieved the ultimate goal of causing people to go and protest this war to stop innocent peep frel dieing and ultimately putting end to all this madness that we are witnessing. what it caused is an opposite effect we are seeing even from the recent vladamir putin
1:15 am
speech, where he's essentially saying that sanctions were inevitable and this war is simply an excuse for ways to accelerate all the sanctions because they want to destroy russia and russian way of life. unfortunately for a lot of people exposed to that state media and russian-owned social networks, this is what they take at face value, a story they will run with and it is a very dangerous narrative. vadim ismakaev. >> todd: you say age determines what you been this war, sman. >> if we look at independent studies conducted, it is mostly the young generation is mostly against this war for obvious reasons. they grew up with western culture, this is something they did not want to lose a connection to. same time, it is the older
1:16 am
population that are pro-war and are hardest to get the right information to, to get the truth to. the older population, they are not going to install the vpm to get to western social media there. they are set in their ways and how they consume information and this divide that currently exists is very hard to break. >> carley: vadim, vladamir putin went on tv and criticize those who speak out against him as scum and anti-patriotic and there is concern he will tighten his authoritarian rule as this plays out. what do you think about that? >> i think what we are see suggest natural unfolding of events, it is us versus the world mentality. a lot of what i saw in the speech he just gave was world
1:17 am
war iii type of parallel where russia persevering in the face of this severe adversity and succeeding, russia not being humiliated. russia going to attack first, otherwise we would have been attacked instead. and it's very sad. i can't find the right word to say other than just it is very, very, very sad. >> carley: thank you for joining us and sharing your interesting perspective, we appreciate it. major news here, the biden administration is considering removing iran's islamic revolutionary guard corps from the terror black list, removal is major negotiation point for iran as u.s. tries to restore the nuclear deal. white house is blaming former president trump for the progress iran has made toward nukes. >> press sect. psaki: we're
1:18 am
negotiating this deal because iran is threatening u.s. interest, all the result of president trump pulling out of the deal and iran moving closer to having capacity and acquiring a nuclear weapon. we are here thanks to the akszs of the last president and the last administration. >> carley: irgs was added to the list. >> carley: here are details from brooke singman. gruks good morning. jussie smollett jussie smollett was released on bond, which he will not pay as long as he appears in court when summoned. the release is after his lawyers repealed his condition arguing he served his entire sentence before the completion of the
1:19 am
process. >> we are elated the appellate court is able to decipher the issue and apply the standard and look forward to this process playing out. >> brooke: the actor was sentenced to 150 day necessary jail and $25,000 bond along with restitution to city of chicago for $120,000. his lawyers claiming his sentence was a threat to his life saying, "mr. jussie smollett has become the threat of vicious threats which reflect hatred and wish of physical harm toward him, which he may experience during incarceration," any custodial setting is -- psyche ward being at risk to self-harm according to his brother. the former actor was convicted on five counts of lying to police when he staged a hate crime against himself in 2019.

>> todd: thank you. president biden targeting energy companies, price gouging amid surging gas prices. oil prices are decreasing and gas prices should too. shouldn't pad profits at expense of hard hudson valley working americans. the white house reiterating. >> press sect. psaki: gas retailer costs are going down, they need to pass savings to consumers. volatility of the oil mark is no excuse for excessive price increases, no one should capitalize on putin's aggression by taking advantage of american families. >> todd: 4.28 a gallon this morning. professional burglary gang emptys homes in california. >> carley: in ukraine, hundreds of workers at chernobyl have been trapd and held at russian gun point for weeks, one of the people who led the response to the 1996 chapter join us to

>> carley: we are back with a fox news alert. four people dead after 7.3 magnitude earthquake rocks japan. footage shows homes and cities being rattled fukushima. one of the biggest concerns was the tsunami warning it triggered issue but that has been lifted. comes days after the earthquake and tsunami that hit in 2011, killing 22,000 peep and he will causing a major nuclear disaster at the nuclear plant. todd. >> todd: concerns in ukraine as workers at chernobyl are malnourished, and working nonstop to keep the plant save. a radiological officer during
1:27 am
the chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1996 joins me now. knowing chernobyl like you do and what needs to be done on a day-by-day basis to keep everybody safe, what is your major concern right now? >> well, i would describe the situation as basically terrible because the shift at the nuclear power plant for -- excuse me. >> todd: are you this with us? we can hear you fine, can you hear us? >> i can hear you, sorry. okay, because the shift of nuclear power plant is to -- they are forced to work well
1:28 am
like, yeah, basically 22 days and nights. it is absolutely abnormal, the people are exhausted and despite the professional outstanding responsible people, they are near going on strike. the problem is that -- don't let the shift be changed. sergii mirnyi. this is terrible because top management of the chernobyl nuclear power plant is ready to
1:29 am
replace them, but -- don't let them be replaced. >> it is frightening, my question to you, what is the threat to the region and how far does that threat extend? >> well, it is exactly what i wanted to tell you because the issue is that when we speak about the chernobyl nuclear power plant, we in fact or rather those who speak in fact quite a bunch of nuclear facilities. it is not only the nuclear power plant, which held three nuclear reactors and also the ruin of the exploded unit for the one
1:30 am
which caused the global chernobyl disaster. there are two nuclear -- storage facilities, one at the site of the nuclear power plant and the other at some distance. and then there is so-called central ukrainian national -- storage facility. and plus, in the zone, there is -- >> todd: i got to cut you off, we are about to run out of time and lose your shot. that is frightening. this is terrifying and a situation the world needs to pay attention to. we appreciate your insight this morning. thank you. >> carley: any success putin has in ukraine could be the beginning of chaos around the
1:31 am
world. >> nuclear weapon and iran, you have nuclear arms race in the middle east. every problem is made worse by putin. >> carley: warning after another chilling warning from president zelenskyy says says world war iii may have already started. dod advisor cory mills reacts next. coronavirus /* todd: back with
1:36 am
alert. one person killed in an apartment fire overnight. >> carley: a bomb levelled a theater sheltering hundreds of civilians, including children. live from western ukraine, jonathan. >> jonathan: carley and todd, we may be getting the initial good news or better news from the site of that theater bombing. there are some initial reports coming in unconfirmed yet, but
1:37 am
shelter itself under that theater may have survived largely in tact. we understand a rescue operation is underway right now. that theater, according to ukrainian officials was sheltering civilians issue including children, was hit overnight here and even though the ukrainians had written on the ground in very large letters outside of that theater the word kids, warning the russians there were children there hoping that would prevent any sort of attack. clearly it did not. in a city north of kyiv, the u.s. embassy says russian troops simply opened fire on people standing in a line waiting to get bread and according to the reports we've got from chernhiv,
1:38 am
10 ukrainians were killed in that clearly unprovoked attack. the attacks on the capital kyiv itself have continued, missiles hitting the city center or close to the city center once again yesterday and then in the southern port city, black seaport city of odesa, we are seeing more people trying to get out of that city. that could mean that they believe a russian assault from the land to the east of odesa all from the waters to the south where we know there are russian war trips stationed in the black sea could be coming soon. president biden responded to president zelenskyy message to congress that he, his country, need more help by saying he will commit a lot more military weaponry to ukraine, but he is not going this point to give the fighter jet support that ukraine
1:39 am
wants, not going to agree to express from the ukrainians for no fly zone. in response to jackie ibanez, the president said yes, he considers the russian president vladamir putin to be a war criminal. todd and carley. >> carley: first time he said that. president zelenskyy warning the world that world war iii might be underway and some say this situation could escalate quickly. >> if putin wins, the war criminal he is, still standing. ayatollah will -- nuclear arms race in the mideast. every problem we have today is made worse by putin winning. >> carley: cory mills, former dod aide visor joins us now there is fear this war could be
1:40 am
the start of something bigger, what do you think about that? >> cory: yeah, we have to identify that russia, china and iran have alignment. this expansion is ukraine and could go to other non-nato countrys to advance and expand the border, part of president xi's plan to take africa, investing billions upon billions of dollars in ports to control the resource, economic war fare against america. you see where the irgc launched attack necessary iraq, that is so americans know that biden and iran are trying to get into the nuclear deal again, the fact is, they have had russia and foreign affairs minister lavrov to negotiate this.
1:41 am
pull irgc off the terrorist organization list, which president trump had put them on. what will happen, he will sanction russian energy and buy from iran and venezuela, which is defactor russian oil and gas. he's not doing anything other than political optics, he needs to provide migs and alignment and put in a swift ban and realize this is more than russian and ukrainian invasion, this is now looking at global super power resurgence and america is not part of that resurgence. >> carley: talking about russia, but also china has ambition to take over taiwan. you have to wonder what president xi is thinking as he looks at this playing out. there are significant sanctions on russia and vladamir putin
1:42 am
right now, do you think that will change what he does going forward? >> cory: no, i don't. china is saying, we will financially back you, america, these don't want to be part of it, we will back you. you have china talking to saudi arabia to not have petro-dollar and look at petro. they are trying to eliminate the dollar being the global currency, control war fare against america and continue to endprashiate themselves into central america as with venezuela and others and flood the borders with fentanyl. this is absolute war by the greatest existential threat. >> carley: feels like our adversaries are on the move right now, time to act and act in a manner of strength. thank you for joining us, we appreciate it. >> cory: thank you, carley.
1:43 am
>> todd: vice president kamala harris has not been the strongest messenger for the biden agenda. >> vice president harris: i'm here, standing here on the northern flank, eastern flank. >> do you plan to visit the border? >> not today. >> i just love the idea of exploring the unknown. >> todd: powerful clips there, she is being named biden's road warrior to tout white house accomplishments to americans. jimmy failla, we'll get his take next.

>> carley: the recall campaign for los angeles district attorney george gascon is well on track to meet july deadline of collecting 125,000 signatures. the recall must collect 556,000 signatures to move forward. the woke d.a. is giving tips on how to discourage thieves from stealing their cars. listen. >> one, always lock your car door. two, do not leave a spare key in your vehicle. three, park in a well lit area

and four, getting on-site theft device for your vehicle. working together, we can keep the community safe. >> carley: proposition 47 downgrades crimes from felonies to misdemeanor. >> todd: five, enforce the darn law, george gascon. western state -- border czar with unanimous vote of no confidence, after witnessing this disaster over the past year and listening to rhetoric and dishonesty as texas congressman chip roy calling for impeachment of mayorkis as border crisis persists. 63% increase in border crossing compared to the same time last year. despite failure, vice president harris becoming biden's road

warrior, even though her approval rating just -- >> carley: is it the right kind of attention? jimmy failla, fox news radio and fox nation, joins us now. the vice president will be sent on the road to promote the president's agenda and one strategist describe today this way, the cabinet has been doing good job hitting the road as much as possible, no way any secretary can bring star power and local media attention as vice president harris can. who will tell the biden administration this is not a good idea? >> jimmy: i think that strategist issue the person immediately took their car keys away and told them they are not allowed to drive in that condition. this is psychotic, okay. when you think about, i'm fairly confident they are going with
1:51 am
this strategy pause they don't want her around at this point, they want her away from the administration, this is embarrassing. watch what went on in europe with weird quotes, time to do what we've been doing is here and that time is everyday. she is speaking in riddles, number one. number two, the article says what, says she will tout the successes of the administration, something tells me she won't be speaking at gas stations. what i think has gone on, really quick, internal calculation within the administration they can't change anything between now and midterm so decided to tell everybody it is working, they are getting out and saying it is going great now and anything going wrong is putin's problem. if biden administration were in charge of the titanic, they would sell another cruise to people on the life boat, once they blame the icebergs for
1:52 am
climate change. >> todd: this is dr. fauci, saying republicans will target him if they take control of congress this november, here is the quote, it is benghazi hearings all over again, they will try to beat me up in public and it will distract me from doing my job the way it is doing right now. the job of forcing masks upon people when we don't need them anymore. we haven't heard from dr. fauci in a few weeks, why break his silence with this gem? >> jimmy: i think the irrelevance is killing him and the fact, it is driving him nuts. he was on the cover of every magazine, that is so disingenushous, fauci acts like republicans were out to get him and he had a really long rope, he just happened to change positions on every issue it discredited him. he was a magazine guy, a tv
1:53 am
star, threw out the first pitch at washington nationals game and didn't do particularly good job, i might add. he made sure nobody caught anything that day, holy heck. forgive me. this is why fauci has to go. in lumping this with benghazi, what does he really doing? associating himself with democratic side of that event, why he's discredited himself to so many people. he is right in saying it was like benghazi, lied to about the origin of what caused it. >> carley: he is playing the victim here, should we feel bad for him? >> jimmy: yes. carley, no! if the gps in your car changed direction as much as fauci changed directions, there would be 9000 car pile up. no mask, some mask, i can't believe it is not mask.
1:54 am
he's done a bad job and that is the problem, fauci has been in this position since 1984, since van halen recorded "jump," and van halen had three lead singers since then and we've had one fauci. i take sammy hagar over fauci. >> todd: cabo wabo, what if fauci came up with a tequila? >> jimmy: would be more helpful than anything he came up with, isn't alcohol supposed to stop the virus. >> carley: thank you for joining us, talk to you next week. >> todd: sammy hagar tequila. >> carley: i met him once, very niles man. organized burglary gang leaving homes ransacked, their crimes don't stop on the west coast.
