a special look hosting the wiseguys. if you need more of me watch my show monday through friday. i'm exhausted just thinking about it. >> we begin with a fox news alert all four people on boarding us military aircraft that crashed during nato drills in norway. this morning are confirmed dead. >> it comes after russia claims to be escalating the attack on ukraine thing the military has used a hypersonic missile for the very first time. >> jonathan hunt joins us live what do you know? >> . >> on the claim of the hypersonic missile but that only comes at the moment from

the russian defense ministry. it may be true they are using new technology and it may well be true they are trying to fight the ukrainian civilians. but we have no independent confirmation at this point of the use of a hypersonic missile but the use of conventional missiles and artillery selling again doing damage yesterday to the capital city. most of the shelling there is coming from artillery that is at least 9 miles outside of t11. the statement —- that things are stalled but well within range to rain down on the people. also constant bombardment in the eastern city where we are seeing extraordinary pictures of the damage done there.
2:02 am
but the ukrainians keep to fight back for every inch of territory. we are seeing more video of russian tanks that they say they have destroyed in fighting in and around t11 and also the eastern part of the country. we also getting new satellite images that show the sheer number of refugees simply trying to get away from the cities. trying to get closer to some sort of safety weather here or even further west than lviv into countries like poland. president zelenskyy men —- in the meantime says it's time for the russians to take place talk seriously and to sit down directly with him. >> thanks to the courage and professional training of the ukrainian armed forces, the occupation forces were stopped

leadership on the part of the united states. some people suggested maybe the biden administration liked the idea as it was deposing putin in the long run. i that diplomacy that our diplomats. >> pete i will lean on you when it comes to this but the fact he starts to target civilians and innocent people now and i just wonder when you are out there do you know they are civilians? is the same military strategy? who was exporting the civilians? it just seems like such an escalation from where it was in the first week of this war. does he know?
2:06 am
peter: that's a great point in you mentioned escalation but it is desperation from vladimir putin he did not perform the way they were supposed to you asked about troops on the ground there is interesting reporting the last couple of days about troops saying we are not told that the targets are we are told it is a column of tanks and then our job is to drop the bombs. they are not smart bombs we don't know where they are landing so we blame it on the commanders. russian reconnaissance and pilots have been shot down who say we are sorry. we did not know and most russians don't know because they believe their own propaganda but there is that increasing desperation. as wake up on this saturday morning with the third week in the war if you look at this map you with it doesn't that much different but it does to the people of ukraine who are under siege with bombardment. we have been talking the

second largest city in ukraine sensed a number one still not taken by the russians as anything they've attempted to bypass it which is still effectively blocked off as ukrainians and the defense forces that were 50 percent here to begin the fight have put in one heckuva fight. mariupol is a humanitarian disaster right now it is a magic of bombardment and civilians in city centers attempting to take it it has not been completely taken that there is enough terrain there that crime area on —- crimea has

ukrainians, you remember when mykolaiv was initially taken there was a counter attack by the ukrainians the city was loosely held by russians. not that life is back to normal, it's not that the heavy bombardment has stopped and coffee shops are opening is ukrainian forces have taken aback. i did the russians wanted they went to connect to odessa the largest for them block off the black see. it is amazing they went t11 they opened up the new avenue to the east but making very little progress look for t11 to start to look like mariupol that they stay committed to this absolute bombardment it is about breaking down the will of the population forcing people to flee that is the way vladimir putin has attended so far. rachel: events in the history of the history. >> yes the religious site.
2:09 am
>> we have not seen a targeting of those locations but the bombardment of city centers and apartments and other places so they are ready to hit it but i don't know the person knows that is vladimir putin he has also mentioned to introduce a new weapon according to the russian defense industry that the hypersonic weapon is air to surface missile that can fly at mach ten to evade all maneuvers so i think that's another signal to nato in the west here hypersonic missiles and nuclear and they are sent to the west stay out of this. this is our fight, not yours you may send weapons the

donors clean any further. this is a close-up on the southern region which is where the bombardment is happening. they are still trying to kick out past the city center toward the capital city. norway picked up training exercises on the periphery to send the signal they are prepared to defend countries like norway. in our spray the marine helicopter that can take off and fly there was a lot of training accidents for that it is such a special aircraft apparently heavy rain and wind gust was in the area and unfortunately for americans were killed training is dangerous also in for this war is nato prepared and all of these countries and that's what this exercise is for. >> before we move on, how are
2:11 am
we getting an aide back to the folks? there were the national leaders that came to kyiv to be with president zelenskyy but the weapons we are giving to them if we cannot even get civilians out how do we get them in without bombing? peter: i should have shown on the map but that's why you see the decreasing bombardment strikes and part of the country including the military base from last weekend because they realize that when just ask is truck and rail they will not fly in aircraft that you can fly and land supplies on the western side so putin is worried about the arms coming in them for him to keep
2:12 am
targeting those sites in the west which has implications on the humanitarian quarters. rachel: is a black see more strategic russia then taking kyiv. peter: the symbolism of decapitating the government and he once president zelenskyy out and the regime change but to your point that southern portion, if he pushes hard enough and brings ukrainians to the table, his goal is to keep that land and keep control of the vaccine which feels like something that would be untenable. that's why it's good to hear talk of negotiations but it doesn't appear from putin side he is willing are ready for 200,000 people with the painted flying are trying to stay and keep your people motivated behind it which is unfortunate.
