ty really want you to weigh in on the battle of kyiv. the people are saying this is like the battle of the alamo they said, is very simple what putin strait strategy is john suite wrote this they plan on the season all of the food and waters and ammunition resupply. then they're going try to cut out the power also they're going try to take over the waterway, airfield, railroad, and as well as the railways. how do you see this, sir? >> lawrence it's a city semitic campaign not the way we would have done it or in the past. the russian strategy if you want to call it that is more blood force trauma they're not doing well militarily for many reasoning. we can talk about if you want to and they're concentrating on causing as much misery as they can to the civilian population because they think that that is going to sway many their favor.

they're misunderstanding the ukrainian peel and leferl of defiance i think their capable of and i don't think it is going to end well for them. >> do you think ukrainian people win at the end of the day? >> i sure hope so lawrence. i wish between 2014 and now ukraine had become a part of nato an european happening and a lot of things -- the people in the white house certainly could have handled this better back in the fall. right now, we're sort of limited in our choice of options. lawrence: all right lieutenant colonel we found out that the america is going to be sending them switchblade drones. and the significant thing about them is they're hard to detect and cheaper is this going to help the ukrainian people, though? >> i think anything that we can sending them now will help them and too late to establish a

no-fly zone over the ukraine, time to do that was before hostility commenced. but what we can do is help them establish a if it flies it dies zone. over the ukraine by giving as much nr aircraft, drone anything at all that ukrainians can use to deny control of the air space to the russians. lawrence: yeah. the former russian foreign minister andrej says that putin is not going to stop with ukraine. do you see that way as well? >> no, i don't. and like i said earlier i would take anything, any russian official sweys a grain of salt. they are born liars. they make a habit of duplicity i think they're getting reality check the west is not as dis-- not as weak as they thought.

they are caught unprepared by ukraine defiance i don't see that way. i think they make a move towards nato, putin will have definitely bit off more than he can chew and you know we're already reenforcing nato countries bordering the ukraine. nobody moves people or equipment like the united states and we -- we can get here's a good example we can get an armor brigade to poland faster to move 60 miles into the ush. ukraine. i think there are enough people around him that would resist this even up to the point of maybe, you know, taking drastic action against him if he tried to force this against nato. big difference between declaring a war on -- on undeclared unalign and declaring more on nato. >> rooting for ukrainian people, shared a lot of heart lieutenant colonel, and i'm sure, though, that type of people that you would have loved to be on

perspective, sir? >> thanks lawrence. thanks for having me. the people that were there had to be there. this is a forced participation event. an what i do like is that russian tv cut away from it. so there's enough decent inside of russia to where putin is now thinking about a cue strategy, a cue proofing strategy to deal with centers, to deal with those in the media that are brave enough to pull up science and protest this war. to deal with people even as generals we saw general arrested today. he's worried about what's going on at 40e78 because this war is so unpopular and like he said people in that stadium had to be there. they were forced to be there. didn't e shough up probably would have been arrested. lawrence: circle back to that general brief willly but russian television is saying there was a glitch there. you're not buying that? les >> no. no not at all that was intentional.

why do you think putin targeted that general in now a lot of generals have already died on battlefield in ukraine now he's going after someone that is there in the homeland. >> yeah. so fort general died in ukraine right and they've died because communications breakdown. they went out and they had to strengthen up the russian soldier because morale is so bad and what's happening now is generals are trying to get putin advice on logistical support telling putin kick not sustain this or have the logistical supply line to sustain this fight and javelin and ukraine resistance are basically holding putin back. and so putin is firing general it is he doesn't want to hear any bad news so only people around putin are yes men. they're ones that do whatever he wants because anybody who questions it even if putin suspects that he's being questioned that general is

offensive positions. to what putin is doing now is launching a huge air on slot and whether it is cruise missiles or aircraft strikes whether it's the shells, rain down on these tanks from russian tanks that is his approach causing absolute terror for millions of civilians. you're looking at city like mariupol for instance, down in the south of the country, there were 400,000 people living there. most of those vast majority were stuck when bombardment started they're getting some of them out there's been about 30,000 or so over the last if few days. but 30,000 is less than 1 in 10 of those who are trapped there. so they're desperate to get out got no food in there essentially no water. we've heard stories of kids drinking from puddles in the street. they've got no power. it's a desperate situation. and this is very clearly lawrence putin's policy. he is going to destroy village after village town after town.

store you're saying now that inflation is 8 to 10% now you're paying essentially like an 8.additional sales tax that's way to think of inflation inflation is unkindest tax of all hurting lowest income families the most and this has been you're right. lawrence, where is the anti-inflation policy from joe biden? he keeps saying almost laughably that if we were to spend another 3 or 5 trillion on build back better bill that somehow that would reduce inflation when inflation was created by massive government spending and borrowing in the first place. >> yeah, just wongders who are economic advisories that are in the white house it is basic economics. david axelrod seems to be this narrative from white house now everything that is on putin. i mean, putin is an evil guy he's responsible for a lot. and so he's ultimate visitten so white house is using him when it comes to policy that -- you know, hurting us

domestically. david axelrod as thoughtings on this and had a warning for biden administration as well. let's play it. >> he was saying -- you know, everything is putin's price hikes inflation is putin and fault people don't believe that they know that we have inflation before this. they know that gas prices were high before this so they haven't dialed this in quite right yet. you can't blame everything in the economy on putin. >> so when you have david axelrod by the way if you don't know this is obama guy -- he's responsible for the architecture of the ground game for the obamas 2008 campaign. this guy knows what he's talking about when it comes from a democratic world view. and he's warning the white house not to take this talking point. >> well, look there's no question that when russia -- invaded ukraine. that caused the price of oil to

go up. there's no doubting about that. but i've done these numbers and what i found was that about 80 to 85% of the increase in the price of gasoline at the pump happened before -- before -- putin went into russia. so americans thans the inflation was already out of control. the problem is it is going to get worse unfortunately before it gets better. the other point that's really so important to understand is that now that oil is at a 100 to 110 a barrel, why in the world are we not producing more oil and gas here instead of sending money to saudi and iranian and russians. americans are scratching their heads saying how does this energy policy make any sense and why are we getting oil from texas and north dakota and alaska? and biden came in remember he said he wanted to bankrupt all of the oil and gas country and put them out of business.

support that has been provided to ukraine. but also important for more for ukraine. ambassador my question is not just from a nato perspective but how can we rally entire world for peace and freedom? >> well, thank you so much for having me on lawrence, and i think what you just heard there is an important distinction that we need to work on. one of them is yes, nato will defend nato countries you're alliance member, we will come to your defense all of us together collected defense from everybody. that means that russia would never dare attack nato country but we have a situation in ukraine. which is not a nato country which is under direct attack from russia how does nato contradict in some way to helping protect ukraine help them survive, and warn off
