russia had offered a safe exit from the port i for anyone who laid down arms. russian forces have pounded mariupol for weeks. this week bombing an art school where people were sheltering. president zelenskyy calls it atrocities that will be remembered for centuries. >> we'll shoot down the pilot who dropped that bomb the way we have shot down other mass murderers. reporter: firefighters running into a burning building to rescue people stuck in the rubble. a residential building in kyiv was heavily damaged. it's not clear what kind of projectile hit the building but a crater can be seen in front of

rescue mission is under way after russian forces dropped a bomb on the barracks of a military facility. and belarus with its own military, to support russia, russia fired hyper sonic missiles never before used in combat. they travel 10 times speed of sound, range in excess of a thousand dollars miles, some expert believe that putin is sending a message that this war and the conflict in europe are far from over. joining us now fox news senior strategic analyst, general jack keane, thank you for joining us. is this hyper sonic missile a significant development. >> certainly the first time used in a war.

but as a web system in terms of warhead, it is not that much different from some of the cruise missiles and other missiles that the russians are uses, what is different about this system, it's orbital. and it is travel the earth's atmosphere at supersonic speeds, 5 times the speed of sound. it is very difficult to intercept it and very difficult to defeat it. it is so maneuverable. it does not add anything to the war to be frank, the warhead is not that much different from the others used. trey: i think one question on the minds of viewers, what is the u.s. sending to ukraine? can you tell us about the weaponry? the things we're sending to help? >> what is happening, in ukraine, certainly is that arms they are receiving are helping, the ground war is

stalemated in northern campaign in kyiv and kharkiv. russians have not been able to generate and momentum going forward. and they reached what we refer to, a culminating point, and they are digging defensive positions because they reached that point, the ground campaign with the anti-tank weapons, artillery, ammunition and nato and united states have been providing is helping, they are supporting motorized brigade units that are defending against the russians. the irwar still favors the -- air war still favors the russians, the stingers are low-level air defense systems, the surface-to-air missiles, s.a.m.s are long are range, they are needed, when employed they are helpful. at battle of kyiv in last
10:06 pm
two days, the air defense system of the ukrainians have helped keep a lot of the bombardment off of that city, some has gotten through, a lot has not, it can defeat missiles coming from russia with it fired. and they can defeat aircraft that are flying. the air defense systems, that ukrainians are requesting, nato and united states have to keep those weapons coming. i do believe that they should still give them the polish migs that poland was intending to give them, we had a snafu, let's resolve this that this week at nato meeting when president biden gets there. it seems arrogant to me that we're telling the ukrainians, when they need, they are asking for that weapon system. and we should not split the different on whether it is an offense or defensive
10:07 pm
weapon system, that is nonsense, the russians have invaded ukraine, every weapon that ukrainians are using is a defensive weapon system, that is just the facts, we should get that additional fighter aircraft in there it will material help, the air war favors the russia ans, we have to bring that into balance, certainly there are other types of ammunitions that are being used at much lower levels in terms of small arms ammunition. but the thing, this will be a long war. the russians have put out now, just within the last 24 hours, they tell their people, and their leaders, prepare for a long war in ukraine. and that means, the sustainment of the arms and munitions the be critical to ukraine's success, our mission should be to help ukrainians win this war. and drive the russians out.
10:08 pm
that should be our focus. our focus isn't preventing world war iii. that is a secondary issue, the primary issue is helping ukrainians achieve a victory against the russians we have to be all in to do that, it will go on for weeks perhaps months. >> like a good general, you anticipated my last week, with how long will it last. you said it could go on for a while. general jack keane thank you for your service to the country, and thank you for joining us. >> great, talking to you trey, thank you. trey: now with go to greg in lviv. reporter: a lot to update you on, to mariupol, the keyport city that is being fought over, russian defense

ministry given an ultimatum, in 3 hours give up or they will slam the place, but 80% of infrastructure has been destroyed. there is street to street house-to-house fighting. and they are reports that thousands of civilians are forcibly removed from the city by the russians. this as more experts say, as general jack keane said this could go for a long time, troops in kyiv, russians are digging in, we have new reports saying a big shopping mall was hit. the city tonight, hit by big, big blasts. this as russia claims to once again. fire one of the hyper sonic missiles, fox news confirms that, that is cruise missiles to hit a depot in the south. and also a training center in the north.
10:10 pm
it is the shift that we're seeing in russian offense that is long range, sometimes precise, sometimes i'm precision. but targeting the civilians. and the embattled ukrainian president zelenskyy he was out, warning of a final solution that russia president putin is trying to impose, saying, he is open to talks with russia. but right now, although we're getting conflicting reports, there doesn't seem to be too much important progress on that front, trey. trey: greg, first, thank you for risks your safety to bring us information and images we need to be better informed. it sure seems that the conflict will gon for a

later, president biden announced u.s. would send additional 800 million dollars in defense aid including stinger missiles and drones and firearms. but doubt it will be helpful, is it enough? should the world's greatest super power be doing even more? joining us now is house republican leader from california, congressman kevin mccarthy. thank you for joining us. you were in the room for that speech, tell us your reaction and react of the other members of congress. >> thank you, trey. i do want to take one moment to honor memory and life of don young, the dean of the house, i know you worked closely with him, he represented alaska for three quarters of amount of the time. yes zelenskyy spoke to uses to the house. he did say and what he did
10:16 pm
not say, he did say, to help us, he weaved in themes of america, from 9/11 to pearl harbor to martin luther king it was a moving talk. he never asked to send american men and women to war, he asked, allow to us have weapons to defend ourselves, this is where president biden continues to make a mistake. not just how he pulled out of afghanistan, not that he said in a press conference, president biden if putin took a little of ukraine it would be okay. he was too slow in providing weapons for ukraine to defend itself. and also holding up the migs from poland. why deny them that? it is no different from sending a stinger or any other weaponly, allow them to defend themselves, i
10:17 pm
roof in the house and senate there is bipartisan support to allow the polish mig planes to go to ukraine so ukraine can create a no-fly zone themselves. trey: you know, kevin, we just saw the images, they are powerful, you are serving in a tough time where bipartisan is hard to come by, it looked to be a bipartisan reaction. is there enough on both sides of aisle to do more, are the democrats communicating that to president biden? >> i know some democrats are. inside that room, one place that was powerful, zelenskyy askeds to watch a video, almost like a chamber of commerce, beautiful cities of ukraine, then they put modern day video of weaponry coming from russia, killing maternity wards, the
10:18 pm
children, horrific signs of bombing a theater. that was clearly marked this was for children. and there was want a dry eye in the room after that, i think there is a bipartisan support to supply the weapons to ukraine to defend themselves. difficulty is biden has waited so long. supply chain is not just there yet, routes to get it to locations, throughout ukraine, you had millions of people who had to leave ukraine, thousands of people who have been killed. horrifically. his plan is to go further, if he had taken act sooner, maybe putin would not have entered ukraine, we need to supply them the weapons to defend themselves. >> you are there, i am not. almost appears as if the biden administration was a little you know invested in diplomacy for a little bit too long. when you have troops massing at your border, not sure
10:19 pm
that diplomacy is what you need as much as military aid. we have 30 seconds, you may be the speaker of the house when this is still going on, what would you say to biden in terms of helping ukraine? >> you know at this moment in time, it is the actions you have taken before, i would continue to help ukraine but a different action, look to taiwan, don't make the same mistake twice, did not let china become stronger, sell taiwan the weapons to defend themselves so america is not asked the question to go to war. work, peace through strength we've seen, time and again works in this world, you have ukraine they want to defend themselves don't have them fight with sticks, give them weapons so they may be able to win to deter putin from moving forward and

10:31 pm
how do you balance, i have to get the information, but i can't be reckless about my own personal security, or does that even go through your mind in a war zone? >> i think that goes through everyone's mind, everyone has a degree of fear and a degree of risk willing to take, that degree could change depending on your position in life, i have seen all networks, people taking tremendous risk and here he heroism. the agony when get people are targeted by the instruments of war. trey: stu thank you, steve. we will continue to to remember all of the reporters, who have lost their lives or been injured

russian oil, that is a good thing. but gases are at all-time high. they were going up before the war in ukraine, while blaming vladimir putin is politically smart, it does not tell the whole story. president biden canceled the key response pipeline, and canceled drilling in alaska, house democrats declared war on american oil and gas companies long before the war in ukraine began. biden canceled an american pipeline and approved a pipeline so russia could provide fuel to the rest of europe. why? we need a strategy to become less dependent on foreign energy. what can be enacted to strengthen our position in the global energy economy? senator bill cassidy sits on

10:41 pm
and science, you were a medical doctor, if there are young people watching, you do care about health, is there a way for us to have cleaner energy, is that part of your warp speed plan for american energy? >> absolutely. under the trump administration a republican congress put forward proposal, authorized. that listen, go out there and build this we'll give you money later it was captures carbon and sequestering it, for advance nuclear for other things direct air capture, under this biden administration, bipartisan infrastructure bill we funded that which was authorized. we can produce oil and gas in an environmentally friendly way, that natural -- gas that u.s. produces has 40% less emission when it hits shore of europe than natural gas that russia produces, from

like is recent ones we're better off watch -- watching professional wrestling. it is time to return to the old days of focusing on judicial philosophy and qualifications and experience rather than degrade senate with hearing that resemble bad, reality tv shows, me too. with brett kavanaugh, there was a mini-criminal trial, they brought in a prosecutor, a complaining witness, no topic was off limit, allegations of rape and drunkenness abound. with kavanaugh hear something senators said they believed certain witnesses
