ukrainians? >> ukraine you still have to fight they sought to have their forces in the donbas are not going to get encircled by the russian army. but essentially they are repositioning their troops and falling back. i will call that good news, at least temporarily. it is a sign of ukrainian success. on this thing about if the u.s. going to provide air cover, if you are ukraine of course you are asking for that pretty getting kicked in the teeth every day. your people are dying. you are going to ask for everything. but that does not mean it's a good idea for the u.s. or nato to do everything that ukraine asks. but you cannot blame ukrainians for asking. and in this case essentially the output the u.s. or nato air force as part of the war. with the u.s. air force and the nato air force engaged on the skies over the ukraine? russian pilots it would have russian pilots fighting american pilots and over a country that is not in nato, that is the big

and the world continues to show its support for ukraine. we have seen pro ukrainian protests in london and warsaw as well as new york city and atlanta today all showing their support for ukraine, arthel. arthel: everyone is against this heinous horrible war. charles watson, thank you. eric. eric: the war in ukraine is starting to also the global impact on food supplies efforts to feed people and some of the poorest countries. ukraine and russia have both the world's largest producers and exporters of grain and wheat. the fighting is already disrupting supply chain to places like that middle east and africa. in fact the executive director of the un world food program former south carolina governor david beasley warns about the risk of famine in those regions. >> already the world food program before the ukrainian crisis we were buying 50% of our

eric: explosions rocked the western city of lviv today they seek to separate rocket attacks hit the city, one military outpost another eight fuel depot. that site just 50 miles from the polish border were president biden was visiting that city of warsaw, speaking there today before he left to return home on his trip. fox news crew in lviv have heard more air raid sirens in the last 40 minutes or so for me too my breaking news from another city kharkiv. the russian forces are firing on a nuclear research facility

there. they say right now it is unclear if there's any damage let's go back to alex hogan who is live in lviv for the very latest on their about 40 minutes ago you hear some air raid sirens? >> that is right, eric we have not heard the all clear yet. it's a very quiet moment here in lviv. we do see some cars passing every once in a while there is a curfew right now. you can see it's pretty much a black out behind me bro there are some streetlights. most of the city around me, lights are turned off, people have covered their windows just like they have done many of the city buildings covered now with the boards and the statues are barricaded up to protect some of the important monuments here in the city. you mentioned we did see several strikes here in lviv earlier this evening with a black billowing smoke up into the sky. people were told to stay and bomb shelters be the mayor urged people to take shelter as quickly as possible sank more strikes were imminent. something we did see several

hours later. now, that being said despite everything we are seeing here as you mentioned seeing continued attacks in other parts of the country like mariupol or people continue to hunker down and bomb shelters. but the real threat of course is the lack of supply the lack of supplies that will come in the coming days on people running out of food, running out of water and running out of medicine and pharmacy's belief not seen anything near that here in lviv. earlier today people out and about sitting at restaurants they were listening to musicians. hard to believe what was happening just miles away from where they were. they see a very different reality here tonight with the latest strikes that we have seen. so for alex, those strikes apparently came while the president was in warsaw about 244 miles or so from lviv where you are now presentable thinking that may have been a vladimir putin's message to nato into the

west to coincide with the president's visit. is there any sense of that they are or why they are being targeted today? >> yes there is that is a very common conversation. this is a clear message while this city is not nearly as close to warsaw it's only about 60 miles from the polish border. of course president biden is there in poland after giving that speech urging russia to not make any attacks on nato territory. while russia technically did not again this is just 60 miles from poland's border. we have seen a more recent attacks near and closer to poland's border in recent weeks when us visiting some of those border towns on the other side of the border, polish residents tell me they have become increasingly weary and afraid this could eventually bleed over onto their border. so while the presidents of words of caution were not met by russian action, there is the renewed fear and the threat of

concerned ukraine has about 260,000 people with hiv infection the second highest in eastern europe. people don't realize that. i am very concerned i'm in close touch with hiv clinics and lviv they are really running out of supplies. chronic medications pretty also syncopal substance abuse problems they are missing out on their medications it's a big big problem. it's very common for people think about conflict associated trauma, those kind of injuries but really we have to be thinking about this. for example only 50% of people with hiv in ukraine are on therapies we really need to get that going. i am in india right now getting together massive supplies of the most common drugs used for hiv bring it back to ukraine. >> that is good because as you said you got 260,000 people in ukraine with hiv. you also said there people who have substance abuse issues, how

do you help them? >> yes it is a big concern. when crimea was at the time russia made sure they stopped all those programs. this is something people have not been talking about. i've helped out with substance abuse patients in the past. once they start missing their doses of methadone, they go into very severe withdrawal that something i am overly concerned about. there is no accurate reporting on the ground so we don't know the exact situation. i fear for these patients. we need to get treatment back like a said conflict associated trauma, everyone focuses on but these chronic problems we have to make sure people are safe over there. >> when those patients going to withdrawal, how do they react? do they become violent and perhaps a danger to the people around them or do they go inside themselves? >> no, they pose no threat

whatsoever. of course as we know in the substance abuse world, once you are using heroin acutely is one thing. when you go through the withdrawal phase and people just really need that to stay alive you're not trying get high anymore you just need to keep going. that is what i am concerned about i'm not hearing any reports of this. arthel: i understand that absalom glad to bring that news to us pretty want to talk about some of the other diseases and infections you are seeing there, who is most vulnerable you later hiv and substance abuse what about other diseases there that are problematic for the people who have it and the people around them? >> this is a very troubling situation. of course and we see refugees congregate together were going to see a lot more covid-19 infections. for example only 35% are vaccinated. let's also think a little bit deeper. these people crossing over the borders into the uk, and other parts of europe, covid-19 is

surging in about 19 countries in europe. so imagine these people these vulnerable people going into europe in covid-19 search is going to be a big problem. other than that because of the situation the poor hygiene, water conditions were going to be seeing a lot more diarrhea infections. vectorborne diseases a lot of things it's a very troubling time, infectious diseases are out there right now per the blessing out to mention his drug resistance to tuberculosis. they're called the twin pillars when one person has a tb it works against hiv and vice versa. there are a lot of these people with drug resistant tuberculosis arm requiring intravenous drugs every day to stay alive. arthel: what a complication of issues you have. even if you are not directly infected or affected by it because it's easily spread you
