from what it looked like this afternoon, people were out walking around and shopping and sitting outside, walking their dogs and going for runs, listening to music and we heard strikes which around 4:00 p.m. the first sirens went off, look at this video, billowing smoke in the sky after the first strikes. the mayor of lviv warned residents to go inside and shelter in place and stay there because more attacks were likely and that something we did see become true, another strike in the city and anybody close to the center of lviv since russia first invaded ukraine, the change across the city. >> we heard the sirens so everyone left and we were sitting in our car a couple of minutes and then we heard a very

loud rocket. >> the fire, we heard an explosion -- >> on the other side of the country, mariupol, it continues to worsen, there are bombs and food shortages, lack of water and only half of roughly 280,000 residents remain in mariupol according to the mayor. in lviv, the city is about 45 miles from the closest border and president biden is in poland speaking today, about 240 miles warning russia not to touch nato territory. russia has not done that.

however, there reports about this being a clear warning sign message to the comments we heard earlier today. >> are in lviv you mentioned in your reporting on the city since the invasion began, where were you when they started? you mentioned they started a couple of hours apart giving your proximity, what did you see? >> only a couple of miles from where we are located, like everyone else in the city, we heard sirens go off around 4:00 p.m. and we heard sirens time and time again in recent weeks throughout ukraine, many people here not necessarily the same extent we see now, face-off the attack that took place in a sheltered in place especially for the second attack we saw

hours later but the initial siren, not striking, the fear is had in other cities. >> we up around here, can you comment on whether or not the recent strikes with ukraine, humanitarian and medical supplies are getting in, is that supply line still despite the recent attacks in lviv? >> the reason attack, we do not have any confirmation of casualties or it impeding any supplies being brought into the country. on the other side of the border, poland, romania, hungary, slovakia, long lines going back into the country, these are not just resident from ukraine who have gone for supplies, these are people from all surrounding european countries, sometimes

days on end to bring supplies there, people who need them. lviv still has enough supplies in grocery stores, pharmacies are stopped, a completely different story when we talk about mariupol, pharmacies are running low on medicine and much-needed supplies. people still don't have enough food or drinking water and those are the cities that desperately need supplies. >> i'm wondering what people on the ground are saying, president biden, poland is roughly 50 miles away, i would think people might suspect the messaging here would not be a coincidence to send the u.s. and nato's message. >> it's a very clear conversation, a common one people think this is not a coincidence, this would have

happened today at the same time we did hear the speech from president joe biden on the other side of the border about 240 miles from this but the message not only to the u.s. and other nato countries. one thing i want to note is lviv has been a bit of a refuge for people in ukraine, people displaced coming here, a scary moment for people who left everything behind hoping they would find safety here with these latest attacks taking place. >> all right, thank you so much. >> sorry, go ahead. >> i think we got a quick second for me to ask, reported earlier today lviv was being used or looked at to be used as a fallback perhaps the government would come back there and there

went to high presence of government or military officials? >> we don't have any confirmation, they are trying not to get too much information about military and where some of the people are moving for we are seeing steady influx of residents and businesses coming because it's not peaceable to stay in these cities so as much as we are seeing the refugee influx we are seeing a business influx so you mentioned this is a new shift but we are likely to see that continue. >> all right, thank you so much for being there. stay safe and we appreciate your reporting. next, joe biden makes a shocking comparison between the refugee crisis in our southern border. >> the fact that you have so many ukrainians in the country of poland, we understand that.

instead we have a couple days were almost everything he said, the white house has had to fix, correct, or pull back on. an outward look at the one domestic policy americans care a lot about he can get that right either. he can't talk about in any way people could understand. what we have at our southern border a lot of people try to take advantage of the prosperity of our country and the weakness of our border. but they have the polish border people literally running for their lives. not writing for a better life, running to be alive in that is a problem. >> and katy, title 42 will expire march 30. that trump policy that cap people outside the country they are counting down the days between now and march 30 in order to come across the border. what impact do you see on this happening? >> we are going to need words worse than catastrophic to describe what's going to happen were thinking 8000 illegal immigrants every day will start

crossing after title 42 is taken off. the comments in the comparison made by president biden are absolutely asinine. it's happening at the southern border is a result of open border policies and multibillion-dollar criminal enterprises making billions of dollars of human trafficking as a result of bad policy decisions that could be changed pretty simply predictable by demonstration is among a border patrol they have not changed their perspective despite the fact portable agents are seeing violent criminals with convictions of the offender, murder coming back and forth into the country than going into the communities that we see all around america. and yet they have not change this parade there is no they could stop this tomorrow. instead they're choosing to enable it. >> concur one 100%. jackie, look into your crystal ball.

as november of 2022 midterms joe biden tries to conflate the plight of the ukraine with at the southern border as katy said have gang members coming across the border for the american public might be sympathetic to the creating people, do you think the american people are going to be sympathetic to those crossing the southern border illegally when it comes to the midterms? >> absolutely not. i think it's preposterous that what he's doing and making the comparison. it's not saying there aren't some people come across the border facing certain hardships but to compare them to the refugees in poland that literally are having their cities bombed and shelled that been forced to flee as a completely different story. again we talk about words matter. analogies matter. this is our commander-in-chief. the one thing i will see if he doesn't something about the border at least he acknowledged here he understands thousands of people are coming across the border every day.
