we want to stop the war russia launched in ukraine. and without escalation. speak with the white house tried to clarify president biden's words by saying he meant to convey president putin cannot be allowed to exercise such powers in the region and the president was not making any call to action. but the line has money three days that spent in europe to strengthen the bond with partner nations. >> i wish i could say that the president has been projecting strength and unfortunately he's been falling behind. speak with american public seems to agree an nbc poll shows 40% of those who were asked for this contribution in the hole approved of his overall job performance and on ukraine just 28% have quite a bit or a great deal of confidence and how the president is handling russians invasion. 71% reported some poor little of this poll puts the president's overall approval rating the

once again today in turkey with president zelenskyy sagging again very pointedly, "it is time to do a real deal. listen here to president zelenskyy. >> a new round of negotiations is ahead because we are looking for peace. our priorities and negotiations. territorial integrity are beyond that. >> and while in the u.s. and around the world, president biden is calling on putin not being able to remain in power has sparked some confusion. here in ukraine, they have been greeted with nothing other than glee. they believe that absolutely president putin having launched and on provoked war should not remain in power. putin and his generals are now saying they are concentrating on the east of the country. the area known as donetsk has

been a rush movement and been going on for eight years. that would signify a real change in russia gold if they follow through on that and move forces away from kyiv and move them to focus on the eastern parts of the country. but again, guys, it is really interesting. the reaction in the u.s. and the french for instance, emmanuel macron you talked about, president biden to say president putin cannot remain in power, carley and todd. >> carley: for some people conservatives say the white house trying to walk back the president's statement with mike was more damaging than itself so it depends on how you feel about how strong the president's reaction should be to the situation. just quickly, jonathan on the peace negotiations zielinski

is opening to guaranteeing that ukraine remain neutral free but last i checked russia's terms to demilitarized ukraine and they are going to have to give up crimea region. so there's a lot of space between these two countries. >> absolutely, absolutely, you are spot on. on demilitarization saul alinsky sai "no, that is not on the table and something ukraine would ever consider. and yes, absolutely on territory he said we will talk about being neutral and no nuclear status but not until all of those russian troops have left ukrainian territory. ukrainian territory includes that area known as the donbas in the east. so you are absolutely right, spot on, carley. they are not up and close yet. but at least they are planning on these talks in turkey and we might see some movement here that obviously is what everybody

else wants. but yes, we are a long way from such a deal at this point todd and carley. >> todd: as people try to simplify this explained it to the masses, what could be created in ukraine is north and south korea. do you think that is an accurate assessment? >> i think it might be an accurate assessment that the russians would like to walk away with. if they can control part or even half of ukraine and leave the rest to ukrainians. but that is absolute nonstarter for the ukrainian people. president zelenskyy having fought so hard and see his people fight so hard cannot now be seen to be handing territory to the russians to be sagging "hey, you came in to the aggressor and killed hundreds of children and destroyed town after town after town. you caused 4 million people to

the extractions, people hard to get places, so that is what we are doing here. we have a really great team with us. about 25 guys and we are working three different sections of ukraine. >> todd: without disclosing anything to get you guys in trouble, how logistically are you pulling this off? >> we've got a pretty strong intelligence team who is running our mapping systems and things like that out of budapest right now. so they basically push us for the extractions. the organizations as well push us to routes that people need extractions. i guess the green light to get to these different places. >> carley: you are pointing out underreported element of the work that has to do with the trafficking children. what are you doing as it relates to the ground? >> there is definitely a problem in that area.

i want to say in excess of probably at least 1,000 displaced orphans and children at the time. we are doing our best to get a little bit more and tell that and work with different departments of ukrainian government to get those kids out and get them -- but it is definitely a problem. >> todd: that is horrific. have you had in the close calls so far? >> we've had a couple of close calls. we took heavy artillery delivery and medical supplies into the region yesterday. we took coverage for a couple of hours, the barrage of gunfire and artillery landed pretty close. >> carley: you got to make it clear to all viewers out there what you were doing is extremely risky. your group is highly skilled and operating in the more dangerous conditions in the world. you are doing such great work.

conducted within a span of one year before they invaded ukraine. they conducted massive survey with ukraine within many, many ukrainian cities asking one, are you happy with your government? and a lot of times the answer is "no, we are not happy with their elected government in what they are doing right now." russia interpreted this, yes, we will be fine if we come and invade us and overthrow our government. that is the russian interpretation from the standpoint of anyone you know, russians are living and you can understand. >> carley: that is very interesting and why you see vladimir putin and russia so completely caught off guard by the patriotism and the rallying together, ukraine, ukrainian troops and civilians who have joined this fight as well. vladimir of zelenskyy has laid out piece terms that he said hes willing to guarantee that

ukraine would remain neutral and nuclear free. is that enough for vladimir putin and russia to leave ukraine and say -- >> you know, vladimir putin right now coming he is in a trap that carefully building to stand power since early 2,000. when he first went after media. then he went after of business people, the business world of russia and then the last part was his opposition was in the country, right? so he's been building this trap where he found himself now early march and i don't think that now there is any real strategy. and destroying just as much as they can and creating some talks talks, mock-up of talks and it's hard to predict what will happen knowing how he operates as human beings.

>> todd: do you think anyone on the inside has the will to do anything about this? >> todd, i don't think so. i don't think so. have you seen his public, so you know, public come i don't know, humiliation of his own people? they are leaping forth. just a few weeks ago, right, the person, of course and you shouldn't invade ukraine. he didn't know what to say. these are the people. putin was raising for 22 years, surrounding himself, yes men who can't even say anything that would threaten the immediate existence. >> carley: you said in the past sanctions are the only way to break russia down. but they have faced severe

advantage. >> todd: that is the next time biden has a standard bidenisms and can't walk it back with avoiding potential disastrous consequences to the u.s. and the world. >> i'm extremely worried. this was not the first time. you remember before the invasion he came out and said minor incursion wouldn't cause a problem here the united states needs clarity right now. we need clarity of foreign policy. when the president makes these missteps, it does nothing but harm strategic interest. >> todd: what is the answer, eli? we have two and a half years left of the biden presidency. and you are worried about potential consequences that could befall the u.s. what is the answer? >> well, i don't really know. this is a president who has been gaffe years and years but it seems to be getting worse.

he needs to rely on congress. and it seems like he's heading to that with his rhetoric, but frankly he has to be a lot more careful because russia is a nuclear power. they threaten to use nuclear weapons here they put their nuclear power on standby in case they want to use it in the last thing we need right now is a president of the united states making these attempts with his word to give russia an excuse to take further action for nato or the united states. >> todd: eli speaking of nuclear power, north korea with nuclear test in five years and just testing monster ballistic missile to reach anywhere in the u.s. we know that any time the world's focus somewhere else, north korea likes to say, don't forget about us. look at us. we want the attention. is that what this is where is this a bigger situation that leads to a lot more concerns in your estimation? >> well, the united states has stepped back from its role

across the world. what you are seeing right now bad regime everywhere saying we have an opportunity. it is north korea, iran and very well china and other countries too. the united states is no longer exerting its role or showing it is the superpower that it has been for the last 75 years. until the united states steps up and says enough is enough we set the rules. you do not invade other countries you don't launch missiles. the world may become a more dangerous place. >> todd: how worried should the average american be about this? >> very worried right now because peace, prosperity and stability and the end of world war ii, definitely the end of the cold war. at this point the united states not exercising the kind of authority that it has. and we know from history in a world where there is not a government where the united states exerting that kind

of authority that that regime will act up. so we see the same curses going into world war ii today. and i think american should be very worried. >> todd: finally, eli the left screen policies lead to inflation and lack of security quite frankly for america, but you see the green policy themselves may actually lead to more pollution. why do you say that? >> will, i have traveled extensively through asia and i have seen what actually happens. when the united states decreases production, what we do is increase the production across the world appearance of global greenhouse gas emissions go up. additionally you see investment in wind mills but we haven't done a global study to find out how much carbon and greenhouse gases are actually producing the makings of the green technology. so for the most part, the left push for green energy and environmentalism is causing america to be less energy independent and causing it to be

less secure. but on environmental front, it is causing an increase of carbon emissions because china, india, bangladesh increase production, they are higher level pollutants and carbon emissions actually go up. >> todd: okay commit is the left that is so concerned about planet earth, so concerned about the environment, where is the intellectual curiosity on everything you just said on their part? >> well, there isn't and that is why i'm proposing a policy that before any technology is viewed as green we should do an independent study and actually look at the carbon emission of the entire project. when a windmill is created, actually carbon emissions because it takes a tremendous amount of pollution for the windmill, manufacture it, install it, maintain it and support the infrastructure around it and eventually deconstruction it. today, the government has not done studies but sort of hope it

your fair share but i'm also the first one to say let's not do something that might actually hurt us instead of helping the system right now. it might be good politics but it may not be great economics. >> todd: also the fact you talk about unrealized gains but what about unrealized losses? that is a nightmare with deductions and these guys getting paid more money and everybody else's suffering. but again, we will see what happens this week. in the meantime the lowest level since august 2011. what does that mean for the average american? we talk about consumer spending all the time throwing out a fancy number and you throw out a tort. you can tell obviously it goes lower but what does that mean for the average american? >> inflation, higher interest rates and i don't know why anybody would be worried, do you, todd? the average family and the sentiments where we are right now. the average family saying it cost more when i fill my tank.

i'm not expecting it to go down anytime soon. so those expectations factor in big time. throw in a war, next comes the locust plague come i don't know. it is easy to understand why consumers are in this funk. every time we shop at the grocery store, we are reminded there is inflation out there with record high inflation and our wages aren't keeping pace. that is the real issue, todd. if the wages were keeping pace you feel the sting a little bit less. >> carley: you mentioned the grocery store, here is a bummer. inflation will affect easter can bury aches up 37%, jelly beans 20% and hershey bars also up 20% as well. so it is affecting a fun moment and everything in terms of gas, and all the necessities as well but then you turn to the leadership and you think about what president biden's messaging has been and he has not offered

any solutions on this. is that because there are none? or missing an opportunity to fix this for americans. >> it has been a policy issue and inflation was temporary, but we are in 11th month, 5% or higher but the policymakers really have to understand this is not transitory. i think the federal reserve has indicated finally linked to the party, but finally they will try to tackle inflation with higher interest rates. so keep your eyes open. they should be a fun ride over the next few months if interest rates keep going north while trying to wrestle this beast to the ground. >> todd: it may feel like we are looking for a solution. a lot of us riding the brakes so we don't use as much gas. are there real solutions day in and day out to sort of come out of this a little bit less skates? >> absolutely. that is the good news. focus on what you can control. we can't control the
