public. i don't know whether this is just people blowing off steam after along the pandemic. young people are finally allowed to have some freedom. maybe that's part of it. maybe it's also the fact that miami, democrats in charge regardless of governor desantis, there is a big thief on the police movement down there. maybe that has demoralized police and they've moved to other parts of florida. who knows? it's ugly, it's unpleasant, but what can you do about it other than proper policing and better parenting? >> when you hear, emily, about the violence against police and business owners it's a situation where you do worry and they did have to: -- you don't want people -- those business owners were serving alcohol. this is a big time for their economy right now. this hurts on many different levels. >> that's exactly right. i talked to my buddy who is a

longtime miami beach police officer and he had an interesting perspective. first of all, a lot of those violent incidences happened within steps of police officers. they are all addressed care. they said miami beach has an incredible amount of special event experience. they host up to 300, or over 300 per year. he said we could've had a thousand cops on the street but i would not have prevented the two shootings that caused five people to be shot. he said we will be continuing to police the acts of behavior, not the people to come to the city. he said we have to have a policy change that no longer caters to that spring break experience. it has to come from the mayor and the city commission or else we will be talking about these kinds of stories for years to come. >> i'm glad you addressed the numbers because our number was just over the weekend. about spring break has been going on for over two weeks. >> authorities made the point these are nontraditional spring breakers, these are true criminals. immediately when i saw this i thought i went to spring break, like nobody goes to spring break thinking i'm going to bring my

weapon and go hurt people. people go to spring break because you want to enjoy the beach. so these are apparently true criminals that are very dangerous and i don't know why they are deciding to show up at a spring break community. better wish for young people to enjoy their time away from school. >> vivek? >> i'm with miranda. i think part of the equation is better parenting get a maquette of immigrants get i met up at a different experience. we used to spend spring break covering up on reading and playing musical instruments and playing sports. and at exchange pgr abroad. i think parenting is an important part of the equation here. people going on family vacations as one think of my people sending their kids off to florida to have the classic spring break experience, there are more criminals turning up. that the conversation we don't have enough of these days and it ought to be part of the conversation. >> wow, that is really interesting. about personal accountability and being present with her family.
