"the faulkner focus" is next. >> harris: breaking developments this hour from ukraine. areas outside the capitol city are now the grounds for a cover-up as russian forces are trying to erase their war crimes. president zelenskyy accusing putin's army of terrorists of killing citizens for pleasure. and for the people who are surrounded in cities cut off from everything, putin is using food as a weapon. i'm harris faulkner and you are in "the faulkner focus". the images are hard to witness but as americans, we know the power of the truth. we will take just a moment with

i worry this could be us if russia is not stopped. most ukraine rns aren't used to war and can't understand why this is happen and how their lives have been up ended overnight. people can't grasp why bombs are dropping on their homes and schools and some have to step over bodies of their friends and why they are even being called refugees. why do you think the ukrainians are fighting so hard? their family members are being killed. >> harris: we've talked about this before and i know that you have served in war zones. i grew up a military brat so i understand the concept of people dying, being slaughtered all over the planet. and there are two things that make this different. first of all it is how much we see. with so many journalists doubling back to get into ukraine again those associated press journalists perhaps some who never left and risking their lives. we see what that can take and we see a lot of it and witnessing together as the world. the other thing has to do with the fact when dictators usually

roll, when we saw what we did in syria and those images were horrible in iraq, what was different was there really was less of a threat that they wanted to take over every country that is aligned to the united states. in this sense, putin has said it. he would love to be able to cross over. he hates nato. wants to totally go into wherever he can and he has gotten within 12 miles of poland during this war already. >> harris, this is not a war against just ukraine. this is war against nato. people need to understand that. putin has said he will win the war at any cost. we have to watch out for that. there is one other thing i would like to talk about that's important and i hope you and your viewers carry this message. i move around the country a lot in many places and run across a lot of americans, british, canadians and other foreign fighters coming to fight on the front lines along the ukrainians coming in to join international territorial defense group consisting of

foreign fighters. after what i've seen on the ground i would caution others whether what i'm witnessing. they mean well but laugh the americans i meet coming to fight i end up seeing leaving a couple days later. they don't understand what they are getting into and how bad it is on the front lines. they got in way over their head. this is real war and real consequences. this is not a game. do not come out here if you don't know what you are doing and don't understand the brutality of this combat environment. a lot of these guys think they cross the ukraine border and be handed a javelin missile. night vision goggles and a bottle of champagne and it is not the case. they don't have enough weapons. they don't have enough weapons for their own people. weapons from nato countries aren't getting here fast enough and you are taking body armor from ukrainians who need it the most. >> harris: i appreciate that more than you know and i push a little bit because we can't
8:08 am
keep you up forever. that's important information. if you are coming you have to realize they don't have enough to fight the war and then you are in the same boat with ukrainians. it sounds like a job for a lot of special ops guys like you. the crematorium, what we're learning is that we are now investigating to see if they are in fact burning evidence of war crimes now, burning bodies because the world is watching this happen. and that would put this in a different category, i would imagine, in terms of what's going on on the ground, brett. >> right. look, people don't realize that putin is hiding a lot of what's going on here and does not want to show especially his own citizens the staggering losses the ukrainians are crushing them and they're bringing in mobile crematoriums into the country to burn the bodies of their own soldiers so people don't understand the numbers. the other thing, in places like bucha you would be surprised.
8:09 am
not just dead russians. syrians, chechyans, mon goalance contracted and brought into the country by russia to fight ukrainians and it also doesn't count against the russian numbers. people will discover this as more journalists get into these areas. >> harris: their own russian soldiers they are burning to cover up evidence and mercenaries who come in to fight alongside them. >> exactly. >> harris: the u.s. department is looking at possible chemical weapons. i want the see if you're hearing about a plant hit that had nitric acid in it and what the word is on the ground. >> we're hearing about it. i don't know if it's been 100% confirmed. it goes back to my point that putin will try to win the war at any cost. we have to be prepared. i hope the u.s. administration is preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. >> harris: brett, thank you again for what you are doing

station, big oil and america's pain at the pump. assuming that big oil is responsible for the prices at the gas stations. in fact, only 5% of gas stations are owned by big oil and the mom and pops who own the 95% are only making a slim margin. i think we have a graphic there. they are making 2 to 4 cents per gallon of a profit margin for the gasoline that they sell. they make more money per cup of coffee than they do per gallon of gas. the point is, is that they are lying about the premise of the whole thing. that there is this collusion. remember collusion. it is often lied about in politics but there is collusion between oil companies and gas stations and the price that you pay at the pump. that just ain't the way it works. look at the previous four years. if oil companies had the ability to raise the price to $110 a barrel three years ago, don't you think they would have done it? they don't have that luxury. >> harris: when the economy was
