first learned about this? >> arthel, this man is guilty of war crimes and various theaters. he has also been in charge of the russian effort in the south around mariupol. mariupol is a scene of war crimes it's very clear. so this man has already targeted as a war criminal. it is also an indication that president putin realizes that the war is not going well for him. he has been run out of kyiv. his troops have been pushed out of ukraine, back into belarus, back into russia. so putin must realize the military is not doing very well in the force he has is not well prepared. arthel: right but in the meantime they left death and destruction in their wake. it feels like western allies are watching putin getting away with killing, maiming and torturing

business leaders because we live in capitalist system and they are the ones who decide what they are doing with their money. i mean, we have a lot of work to do. but i think right now any of the politicians that have put themselves forward do not have the solutions. and they are not even talking about solutions for the talk about cultural wars and stuff that has nothing to do with actual people dying on the street in san francisco. eric: speak in public money medi-cal 40 city supported the defunded the police movement, now they have changed their minds. investing more money in their police department's and they are actually using covid relief funds to do that. report from the newspaper, the guardian, show cities across the golden say to be as tens of millions of dollars in pandemic relief funds to build up their police force. there are some of the figures there paid lots of money. richard greenberg joins us san francisco activists former candidate for mayor there. are they supposed to do that?

are these cities supposed to stimulus money in this sort of thing to beef up the police? and why did they do that? were they cut short? >> thank you eric for having me this morning. you know, here in san francisco there is a constant dance back and forth of what to do with money. how to obtain money, how to spend money, where to spend it. you know we have a problem here where a very large percentage of those activists that are in office the elected office the city council -- they are really anti- police anti- cop. they are doing whatever they can for years do not support the police. whatever funding that we can get to support the police whether it is obvious or if it is some circumvent we see here now, without the funding, the police department would most likely collapse entirely.

eric: what would that main question rick you know what that would mean with the city of san francisco, man is suits happening on the streets around union square in this sort of thing. what is the result of those policies that you just cited on public safety in your city? >> right. we are facing a public safety emergency here. and it many that are in city hall simply do not want to face the facts. whatever it is, what ever receive the open drug market, with drug dealers that are basically doing whatever they what with impunity with the district attorney is facing a recall in less than 60 days now, it was a pro crime apparently. he is pro- criminal. this would just spiral further down. we have a businesses leaving. we have businesses failing because tourists are not coming here. it is a worst-case scenario that is continuing to spiral downward. physic did you think will be

recalled as you say there is that recall on him favor looking at video by the weight next to hillsboro, california very wealthy ritzy suburb just south of where you are now part they are apparently targeting those multi millionaire mansions breaking into those because they've moved on from a tourist. >> that is right. now beau dean is a fighting and his supporters are fighting back with a vengeance trying to do everything that they can to make anyone that is pro- law and order look like a republican which is kind of weird. i don't think wanting to have a safe streets, clean streets, no drug dealers on the street is something that should ever be looked at as any republican or conservative leaning. that is just what every person here that lives in the city once. and you know mr. beau dean is just fighting for his political life at this point.

eric: can they turn it around can you get san francisco back to the beautiful city by the bay that it once was? so here's the problem. san francisco has not had a conservative republican mayor since the early 1960s. after that we have had the summer of love and liberal movements here and democrats who have been turning further and further left. but a nether key is here in san francisco specifically and we are seeing this on the country as well, is the influence from the socialist the dsa the democrat socialist of america party. they are infiltrating election by election to try to put their radical socialist left wing extremist -- that's a problem as well. they exist here in san francisco. several of the city council and board of supervisors are card-carrying socialist. they are the biggest problem
