aid. i am told lawmakers really wanted to get a sense of the means of both poland and ukraine firsthand. leader mccarthy told me he believes russia is committing genocide and ukraine and the damage russia has done in places like this is not something anyone can ever forget. house foreign affairs ranking member spoke exclusively about his discussion with polish leaders and i asked him if anyone truly thinks negotiations with russia are even tenable anymore after the atrocities we have witnessed. >> what putin has done is made it very, very difficult. just these monsters killing children, raping their children, you know, the bobbing of the hospital, the bombing of the building had children on top. mobile crematorium's really eerily sick and reminds a lot of

>> good afternoon. thousands of ukrainian kids left without their parents. killing innocent buildings. turning families into targets. you saw what happened at that rail station as people try to evacuate. horrendous images. that left kids without parents. without any family to turn to in the middle of a war zone. that is just another very difficult image. this is video from the humanitarian aid. they are waiting to board those trains to evacuate from their war-torn country that used to be their safe home. many lost their moms and dads during this russian invasion. some were killed by russian troops. others died while they were left without food, water, medical care for weeks. these kids were left on their own in a war zone not sure where to turn. with the help of military veterans are organizing safe passages for those young children. the recovery unit going into the

war zones to help those kids. back out there and poland, huge trafficking has been a major concern. trying to get these kids out. when they arrived here poland, the humanitarian aid groups, these people were trying to pick up these children, acting like they would help them and that is not the case. they have added an issue with that in there trying to keep the kids in western ukraine and some of the safe havens there. listed. >> the atrocity that happens a lot in disaster zones and man-made war natural. it is really important to make sure the process of moving them does not make these kids end up in a double disaster. they just lost everything. they have experienced trauma and now they are trafficked. we cannot have that happening. >> that is why those groups are stepping in and going into those very dangerous war zones to get these kids out. the attacks have continued. a number of refugees fleeing

from that area has just continued to go up. a ukrainian refugee every single second since the start of this war. back out here live in poland, the refugee crisis in terms of speed and scale is unprecedented the second world war. so many people still leave ukraine by the day. here in poland, they really are running out of room on where to put those refugees. >> looking at those sweet angelic faces. a lot of american families right now having a conversation about how do we adopt one of those children. i don't want to jump the gun too fast, but your heart aches for those kids. >> definitely. these kids have nowhere to go. as if the situation was not already difficult for them. losing their parents, their families in their homes. now they are like where we going they are hoping that people watching at home will step in and help. mike spee1 thank you so much.

joining me now was john. his friends call him jv. a 25 year veteran. for defense policy at the heritage foundation. right to have you. >> great to be back with you. >> what is the latest you are seeing. >> what a difference a week makes. we had russian forces concentrating in three different areas. north of kyiv and then down here around the crimean peninsula. they were trying to link up the east side. really horrible defenses for the russians and incredibly strong defenses for the ukrainians. causing them to pull out. now basically we have two regions that are of the focus for russians. one of the big things that is associated with this is you had children to feed with supplies and food that actually nourished those three. now we are down to two.

with three different regional commanders last week, now russia has put a commander in with great experience from syria. and alexander is now basically in charge of all of this. he can show how it should go and force commanders to comply with that. >> sounds like he has a pretty vicious reputation. >> it is ruffling. you see that in syria. how that city was leveled. you will not see any change in the way the russian tactics go. you will see the change of forces and activities in this region. one difference we saw last week with regards to the ukrainian way of doing business, generally tactical. generally you are fighting for short range and actually in the unit level. there is a small oil refinery

just north. this will saddle here on the north side. they were sent to basically level the place. more than half the storage facility there was ruins. the dissemination of oil in this region was basically shut down. this is one where we call that air interdiction unit trying to shut down their logistical supply chains. if ukraine can get more of this activity, now that it has this freedom of maneuver in this area, it will be much better. go down that path for just a second. when you have these forces up to the north they came with the system called ds 400. a deadly air missile system. they are also located here in tier. they are proceeding to the north. now you can have air activity.

much more robust with su 27 from the ukrainian forces. that will allow them greater freedom of movement and also the ukrainians can reposition these forces in these areas to bolster their own activities. big change over the last week. >> looking at all the disturbances over this part of the country. trying to run a path from russia to these black seaports. if you look at what is left in regards to the black seaports, this used to be new russia during that catherine the great error. if you go into the mind of putin, i would not put it out of his game of play to try to link it up with forces left in the middle that area. cutting off ukraine from the black sea, causing him to be a land locked country and the resupply they will get from this point forward will only be from the land. >> we heard people talk that the ukrainians may actually be

winning. do you believe that? >> what does winning look like? where will putin stop and how does ukraine actually win this war? they continue to push back on the russians. this area above kyiv that has been a huge victory for the ukrainian forces, you are not seeing them say that because of all of the atrocities they are finding in that region. but being able to continue to focus their forces and pushback on this russian armada coming across as one of the greatest things that they can deal. blooding the nose. continuing to force casualties onto the russians is the best thing they can deal. what we can do in support, there are a couple of tactical sites. we brought in s 300. that is the really incredibly deadly system. not quite as good, but it has great legs. long range and i can shut down the russian ability to fly

fighters into this region. you are watching russians. this is one of the horrific things that happened last week. firing long range missiles and to train stations and the likes. this is one of the reasons why a no-fly zone would have never worked. we go to strike where the launchers are, not the missiles that are coming back. when we think about this, what we continue to do is resupply them with s 300. as many of the missiles as we can from the stinger. one other tactical think that we can give them his night vision goggles. they are easy for pilots to go in, dawn and learn how to fly. they can do that on the west side of this country. once they start getting comfortable, they can come up into pop the russian assets as they come down. this is something we can do right now that our generals and

having a ton of targets set up. the first two stations, they have just one shot each. firing at those targets out there. a ton of different targets for them. once they are done with this we see the ranger teams rushed down the stretch of road pretty quickly to the armored vehicle down there where they have been m to 50 caliber machine gun that they have to fire. the difference between these first two stations and this last one is they get four shots at this last station. so, these guys, they are bringing their a game. they will find out who the winner of the best ranger competition 2022 is in a matter of hours. they have just one last challenge after this which does not involve as much skills.
