solution is more censorship. >> i'm pretty close to a first amendment absolutist. it is a check in the power of the state. it does not apply to private companies, like facebook or twitter. social media companies already make choices about what is or is not allowed on their platforms. the problem is we often don't know what principles govern those decisions. regulation has to be part of the answer. beyond that tech companies need to be more transparent about how they operate. so much of the conversation around disinformation is focused on what people post, the bigger issue is what content these platforms promote. >> kayleigh: or what they don't promote but instead sums are or do you remember this? i certainly do a bit of "the new york post" reporting about hunter biden's laptop. i was briefly banned for that, which multiple outlets later confirmed, including the liberal

disinformation on social media. people are getting sick, let some to that. here is a better idea, how about more speed. if you think there is a bad idea out there, present a better idea and a beaded that way. but truly when you think about the democratic party and the media, two groups that were previously champion of freedom of speech, they don't care about misinformation. what they are trying to do us silence conservatives because they feel it conservatives truly have a voice as prominent as they are scum elections could get flung it not their favor. towards the republican party. i remember in 2016 john radcliffe and senator lindsay glatt graham list p listen to what it said come up brian brenberg come it's hard to watch president obama with this great fade's when you think about this passage.

>> cheryl: but they are. social media companies like twitter and other art's are going through the information. i was looking at this pew research study, three quarters of social media users say they have seen information flagged or labeled as false. they know this is happening, we are not stupid. seven in ten americans say political viewpoints are being censored due to social media companies widespread use of algorithms. now those algorithms have been criticized rightly so for being -- for being overzealous. of course we know the social media companies have gone after conservatives, to your earlier point. let's back this up here for a second. what he is out there saying that she is speaking at stanford by the way, one of the most progressive audiences you could have across the country, and is trying to make it sound -- like this is his new platform by the way. obama is trying to make it sound like we are dumb, and that more needs to be done. on the other side here comes elon musk.

resurfaced as credible. >> nicole: believe me it was one of the doctors called out for the for being conspiracy theorist because i question the close proximity. but when it comes to free speech and social media it is the double edged that cuts both ways. it is an excellent/vision on fox news special talking about eating disorders, access to drugs, come other things bid that but that's not what we're talking about. what president obama saying is that this could damage democracy. that's already happened. the problem we have is who is determining what is fact of what is fiction. who is determining information and misinformation. those algorithms are in line with left-wing talking points. that is actually inserted itself into free speech. the only reason president obama speaking out about it is because elon musk is now threatening to take over and they're going to

as well. i was thinking back to prior administrations on whether you like the president or not, there are a lot of moments that you have to recognize our historic period for obama it was the signing of obamacare. him making a speech thank usama bin laden is dead. for trump it was a meeting the north koreans, the north korean hostages, giving rush limbaugh the middle at the state of the union address. biden does still have a few more years to go but he has not had that historic moment yet. i think that people are waiting. whether you are a supporter or not, for a week when you can say that was a really good week for biden. so i think a lot of it has to do not just with policy, but it's the messaging and the messenger that is very weak as well. >> i think afghanistan was the tipping point for this president this president. >> that's a fantastic point we are like where are the moms? we all watch the state of the

live in eagle pass, texas. bell? >> good afternoon. heart-wrenching news to report. fox news can confirm within the last hour or so a texas national guard soldier drowned in the rio grande here in the eagle pass area. i'm told he had jumped into the water while trying to save a group of migrants who were in the water. we don't know if it was children, families, we don't not have details like that. they had been searching for the body. i just got off the phone they tell me that the body has in fact been recovered. it has been found and it has been pulled out of the water. i can tell you it is been very dangerous this week. we've seen three migrants drowned this week alone. sometimes the currents are a lot stronger than they look. migrants will go for it. i tell you what, these texas national guard soldiers he might be able to see a humvee behind us, they work their butts off down here. they don't just process people. they will jump in and try to save people if the migrant's in distress. unfortunately we do not have a lot of details right now dealing with texans trying to get some more information.

we have a team on location. our drone team is on scene trying to get a bit if you see our drown go up take that life. we can tragically confirm that a texas national guard soldier is dead after jumping into the water and trying to rescue a group of migrants earlier today. i'm told a statement will be coming out shortly as soon as we get more details on what happened and who's involved. sending it back to you. >> kayleigh: absolutely heartbreaking. if i can ask you -- what a hero pit is no other way to describe somebody trying to save a migrant who loses their life. one is the last time in your memory somebody tell mike something happened here at the border? >> when it comes to a national guard soldier i've not heard of it happening. i've been covering the border for a year and this the first instance i'm aware of a national guard soldier drowning in oh river. there was a texas trooper who died back in january or february in a vehicle accident will help in border patrol apprehended a group of migrants peered out the

top of my head not 100% confirmed this would be the second line of duty death associated with texas as operation lone star, which governor abbott launched in march of last year. starting 10,000 texas national guard soldiers as well as thousands of texas dps troopers down here to the border to supplement federal resources, help apprehend migrants. like right now we don't have border patrol agents around us. just these texas national guard soldiers. so in migrants in the what are they bring them over to a holding area and they called border patrol. a border patrol is completely overwhelmed right now but they cannot be everywhere at once. these texas resources have been used to supplement and unfortunately today we are hearing of the very tragic outcome. >> in our prayers are with his family this week in bed thank you much, bella. >> you know, kayleigh, this is a really big deal. this is a policy failure that has very publicly led to the death of an american hero.

it reminds me of the withdrawal from afghanistan. and the 13 service members who lost their lives because of a policy failure. and this is coming at a time when people are already very worried about title 42 ending and what that would mean at the border. there are a lot of border towns biden administration has completely forgotten about. when he entered office and made his speech he said that he was going to be a president for all people. he completely forgot the people that lived along the southern border that say they are hurting because of these policies. you just have to wonder if this is going to be the tipping point. and if he's going to have to start to strengthen his border policies because of his tragic death. >> kayleigh: i hope it is. it is my prediction we hear from governor abbott come i think we will come i really hope we hear from the white house, carley, this is a texas national guardsmen but what we've heard about border patrol in this administration's demonization. as just a total distortion of what they are doing.

they were exonerated -- these guys are heroes. whether you're border patrol, texas national guard, if you're at the border you are literally receiving children who are sometimes dropped over the border and left alone straddled. these guys deserve respect, and they really help our president and vice president come out today on her this year lost his life. we just learned about the tragic death of somebody trying to save another life. you have to wonder where kamala harris is on this issue. >> kovner brady told me today -- about the border. the other thing is like what's happening. we have emboldened as a nation this president is in bold in.
