day and being with you for the last year and a half has been wonderful, too. i'll see everybody on "the five" as well. >> bill: you are very lucky. a great partner and colleague and great friend. i see how many things you do for other people down the line. >> dana: same. thank you, thank you. harris faulkner is up next. >> keep abortion safe and legal. >> they want roe v. wade to stay. pro-choice protestors popping up making it personal. they went to the personal homes of conservative u.s. supreme court justices over the weekend sparking new safety concerns for those justices and their families. i'm harris faulkner and you are in "the faulkner focus". in one state, reaction to leaked roe v. wade opinion took
8:01 am
a frightening turn when people hurled at least one homemade explosive, a molotov cocktail and they did so into the offices of a wisconsin anti-abortion group. pro-life activists also protested outside churches after the pro-choice group ruth sent us tweeted out a call to action on mother's day. the white house again defending people's right to protest but added this. protests must be peaceful and free of violence, vandalism or attempts to intimidate. all of which the president condemns in any case. republican senator bill cassidy says it's already going too far. >> i'm pro-life and against mob rule. the left has been attempting to intimidate the court with mob rule. the left has been attempting to intimidate the court by threatening to pack it, by threatening violence. now we're seeing the violence. >> the "wall street journal"
8:02 am
editorial board says everyone has the right to protest but assailing the families of judges at home is a blatant attempt at intimidation. if the leaker wanted to mobilize pob -- public -- it is the left's onslaught on the legitimacy of the supreme court. in "focus" now will cain, co-host of "fox & friends" weekend. great to see you this morning. first of all, let's start with that intimidation and that threat of violence. >> yeah. unfortunately, harris, it has become par for the course when it comes to the left in achieving their outcomes. i find that "wall street journal" editorial you pointed to incredibly revealing. democracy has been the verbal tick that the left rallies around but it is all a trojan
8:03 am
horse and fake into actually just achieving whatever is their desired outcome. i want you to think about that for a moment. the process. democracy is a process. there isn't a single process that the majority of the left hasn't been willing to undercut in order to achieve their outcome. pack the supreme court. there is a pillar of our republican, small r republic in the united states of america. pack the supreme court. destroy it. leak from the security. there is no care or concern about due process for police officers. lead to conclusion and outcomes. protests, mobs in the street. mostly peaceful as long as they achieve the outcome. we arrive at the draft opinion that would overturn roe v. wade and return it to democracy. what is the left's response to this issue going back to the process of the voters to democracy, take to the streets,
8:04 am
intimidate and threaten. they care nothing about the process including democracy. only in achieving their desired outcome. >> when president obama first came into office he had the majority, right? just like biden does now. it may be slim when you get it but you've got both chambers of congress and you have the white house. if this were such an important topic, if this were something that democrats thought would unify their party, why didn't they try to codify it then? why wait and leak and do all of that? we don't know who leaked. but why wait until there is a leak and then to say you'll do this, that and such. where were the protestors? if it wasn't enough then, when they were fully in power. >> i think two answers to that. the democratic party of simply 10 years ago, the democratic party under barack obama is quaint and meek compared to the
8:05 am
democratic activity is that control the democratic party today. today it's week-to-week that it changes. barack obama in 2012 was vastly out of step with the democratic party of 2022. he stood for traditional marriage, harris. and today that position is worthy of mockery and presumed bigotry. the democratic party today would destroy every process of the positions of the democratic party 10 years ago and why you haven't seen that when democrats have control. it is unpopular. roe v. wade was a shield to a very unpopular opinion accepted within the democratic party. i don't care how many polls people show me about what people think about roe v. wade. if the democrats in the senate push forward a bill to codify abortion, they will be forced to lay out the specifics of actually what they believe. and actually what they believe,
8:06 am
harris, is incredibly unpopular. bret baier had tim ryan, democrat from ohio on. he pushed him what would be the line? and his answer was always it's a woman's choice. and bret said 9 months, partial birth? his response was it's a woman's choice. try that with the american people. put that line and position to them and the democrats know deep down that's incredibly unpopular. >> we're looking at some of what happened as that molotov cocktail, that homemade explosive device hit that headquarters in wisconsin, that meeting place for people who do not believe in abortion. their place was attacked and so i just wanted to make it clear that's some of the video playing while you were talking. giving us really a good forensic look at what is happening inside the democrat party and why is that important? because again, they for right now are in power. so what is will they do?
8:07 am
they are not in power on the u.s. supreme court. i want to get to this. democrat senator chris murphy predicts the issue of abortion will drive big voter turnout for mid-term elections. however, senator lindsey graeme disagrees and says other issues like inflation and border crisis are too big to ignore. >> i think this will push a lot of people to the polls that might otherwise have stayed home. they see the fight is coming not in the state legislatures but washington as well. >> i don't believe it will change the outcome of the 2022 elections at all. when you go to the grocery store or a gas station, that is going to remind you of the incompetence of the biden administration. this is not going to take people's eyes off rocket inflation, broken border, insecure america. >> they are talking about two different things even though they were asked the same
8:08 am
question. murphy said it will drive people to the polls. what graham says bottom line, the outcome won't change. so murphy didn't say it will help democrats win. >> right, right. so again let's look at this two ways. a cnn poll say it could drive democratic enthusiasm up 7%. perhaps it does. the same cnn poll said it will drive republican enthusiasm by 9 points. so it's a net negative for democrats or no effect at all. i talked about this in the most recent episode of the will cain podcast that goes up today to senator graham's point. i hope you don't mind me saying this. when we check in sometimes i can hear you talking and we can hear each other. i heard you talking to soeft people that work on the show and what were you guys talking about? talking about the stock market. i'm telling you, senator graham is right. americans are worried about
8:09 am
this economy and it is not just the stock market. it is gas prices and pocket books. it feels like the economy is sitting on very fragile ground and i promise you, that will be driving voters come mid-terms in the fall. >> so to be specific, first of all, i'm surprised you listen to me that closely. >> i always listen. >> i'm grateful you do. but i would say this, what we were talking about was the fact that now might be a good time to get in and buy some low stocks. if you have the cash to do that, great. but some advisors are saying that things will get so expensive for people that they may want to hang on to some of that cash because they will need it for more basic stuff. then the next thing you heard me say was do we have enough baby formula? that's why i'm going now. will cain, always great to have you in "focus." i loved what you did breaking it down what's inside the democrat party and why it really matters. i'll see you soon.
8:10 am
all right. let's get to that. fox news alert because it is getting to be a crisis now. desperate parents searching for solutions as the baby formula shortage has hit crisis mode. resellers, the people who buy and then they take advantage of the desperation by then hiking up the price and reselling it. some are asking for as much as $120 for a single can of formula. retailers are capping in store and online purchases. you can go in and only get one or two. one mom says this. >> it is difficult trying to find formula for my child. having to check the online constantly. go to different stores. at some point something has to give. they have to put it on the shelves. it is the demand for the supply at this point. >> lydia hu is live in front of a cvs where they put a formula purchase limit in place.
8:11 am
our conversation, will cain heard off my mic during a commercial break. what is driving this to the point where there is no end in sight? things happen but what happened exactly to make it that desperate? >> right. well this is an ongoing problem during the pandemic with supply chain issues but it got worse back in february when abbott nutrition issued a voluntary recall for three of its formula products. that happened after four infants were hospitalized and another two died. it is possibly in connection to consuming some of their product. with that recall in place, we see a shortage now getting worse. in fact, the most recent data shows that the national out of stock average for baby formula has now jumped to 40%. just three weeks ago only seven states showed baby formula was
8:12 am
40 to 50% out of stock. now that has risen to 26 states and some are hit harder than others. iowa, south dakota, north dakota, missouri, texas, tennessee had the highest rates of out of stock availability for baby formula. in response, as you mentioned, retailers are limiting purchases, cvs and walgreens confirms to fox news they are limiting customers to three baby formula products her purchase. some experts say this type of rationing will encourage hoarding and bulk buying. >> unfortunately the ability to forecast who will come into your store, who is going to stockpile. it's very hard. >> now some retailers are taking advantage of the shortage. the resellers that you see perhaps on e-bay or other sites are selling baby formula that
8:13 am
used to cost $20 or $30 for prices we're seeing in the hundreds of dollars. the infant nutrition council of america said formula companies are committed to ensuring continued availability of infant formula for every baby. so far it doesn't seem those assurances are making any difference in the availability of these formula products to parents that are in desperate need. >> it is frightening. not every mom can pump for as long or as much as she needs to and not everybody can breast feed. this is a situation that demands an answer right now. it is a health crisis. i can't even believe we add crisis to the biden administration's list. we don't know how they played a part to make it better. can the federal government put that production policy in place where they have to make it immediately in an emergency like they did early on in the
8:14 am
pandemic, different president? >> that's a really good question. we haven't heard anything from the administration on this topic just yet. we do know that this is going to hit parents in the wallet. those that can afford to pay higher prices if they will go that route. they are already expected to pay $1500 a year if they need formula according to the surgeon generals. not advised that parents bye from unauthorized retailers or make it at home. not many options available for parents and particularly concerning. >> you talk about the supplemental nutrition program for women and children. most of the things missing off the shelves would fit into their food stamp type program. so they are really in trouble because likely they didn't have a lot of back stock. you can't horde buy with that.
8:15 am
>> abbott nutrition supplies half of wic retailers, the low income program for parents that need formula. and food. they are the supplier for half of those programs across the country. for them to issue this recall and not have a steady supply available is really going to impact low income families the most. >> great information. lydia, thank you for opening up your reporter's notebook with me today. i wanted to go deeper on this because i understand what it is like to be in that position for women across the board when this goes missing. thank you. this is such a layering, just to the audience for a minute, of why the inflation crisis under this administration is so dire. normally you might be able to absorb something like this. there might be something that could be done through that wic program.
8:16 am
something that could be done to put something on the shelves that are more affordable. but think about this. you can't get what you need. now you can only by one or two cans at a time and even if you could buy more you couldn't because you are cash strapped because of the inflation across the board for every other item that goes in your refrigerator. it is complicated. i hope the white house is doing more than just watching tv. i hope they are paying attention. massive fraud uncovered in the paycheck protection program. we knew this was possible ppe. they were raking in so many of our dollars during those big covid payments. it wound up in very wrong hands. details ahead and this. >> we want to escalate to a point where he is involved in a war that he can't possibly win. and that would be a war with the entire west. so he can't figure out at this stage how to get out of it.
