nearly 1200 points yesterday. the biggest plunge since the pandemic hit in 2020. but the white house is shrugging off the bad news as it brings down the economy even further. >> nothing has changed on how we see the stock market. we do not -- that's not something we keep an eye on every day. >> harris: what are they watching? we're in it together now, though. gas prices in all 50 states hitting an average of more than $4 a gallon for the very first time ever. the "new york post" with a scathing cover today joe train wreck and op-ed highlighting the long and growing list of crises affecting american families. aishah hosni is live for us outside the white house. look, somebody's job will be to sell this. good luck with that. >> good morning to you, harris. the white house has continuously said that they will do everything it takes, everything they can to bring down these gas prices but as of
8:19 am
this morning, harris, no new announcements or solutions outside of what the white house has already tried so far. take a look at the gas prices right now. we're looking at another two cents up overnight at $4.58. it goes worse every day. you can't go anywhere in the country where you will pay at least $4 a gallon. households are spendsing $5,000 a year on gas and prices will surpass $6 nationwide by august. hard not to get nervous when gas station chain 76 is reprogramming its pumps in washington state now to sell double digit gas, $10 gas. it's crazy. what does the white house have to say about this? the same old thing. they've released oil from the reserves and that it is president putin's fault. >> as the president has said,
8:20 am
president putin's actions are what is driving the price increase at the pump. the president is focused on doing everything in his power to address the putin price hike. >> what they won't do is the republicans want, focusing on domestic energy production. it is not just gas, look at this. the economy as a whole is what's worrying most americans according to a new poll including the stock market which tanked more than 1,000 points yesterday. the largest drop-off since 2020. the president leaving behind a lot of domestic issues and problems as he departs for his second international trip in the next couple of minutes here. >> harris: you are talking about that epic oil release, right? and if you will recall, the president said it would only make a difference by 10 to 35 cents a gallon anyway. oh my goodness, we hit that oil reserve without putting more in and look at where the prices

8:22 am
because can you imagine what a mess we would be in if they were doing anything less? the reason i think it will get only worse is because the only improvement we've seen recently is the fact that they are at least acknowledging there are problem. these people live in an ideological fantasy world where they put everything is about pushing some crazy partisan agenda and have no concept that the decisions that they are making have consequences. and when you are completely blind to the real world consequences what do you end up with? $4 a gallon gasoline and babies without baby formula. this business of blaming vladimir putin, i'm ready to blame putin for everything, all the scorn we can heap on vladimir putin but that biden will blame vladimir putin for the price of gasoline is absurd. the reason that gas prices are where they are is because the decisions joe biden made when he came into office.
8:23 am
the reason that vladimir putin had the money to invade ukraine in the first place is because joe biden jacked up the gas prices and for him to sit here and spend all this time blaming vladimir putin for his mistakes is appalling and i think voters see through it now. >> harris: interestingly, too, crystal, from the beginning of this war with ukraine with russia invading we're 85 days in that, it took us a while to decide we weren't going to continue the pay the third largest supplier of oil, russia. so we were already behind the 8 ball. your quick thoughts and i want to move on. >> it is interesting that charlie talks about this inflation being a partisan debate. what is partisan about getting more baby formula on the shelves? >> harris: it took them months to do it. >> why didn't every republican. >> harris: i have the letters they've been writing for months. >> why didn't every republican vote for the emergency release of funds to get more baby

funds. >> harris: fema has at least two warehouses full of itself. the president could have done the production defense act for two months now but he didn't. he waited. we'll move to this. >> they pretended the problem didn't exist. you have to be a mind reader. >> harris: now it's the main course. tesla ceo elon musk blowing up the internet with the tweet. in the past i voted democrat because they have mostly the kindness party. they've become the party of division and hate so i can no longer support them and will vote republican. critics suggesting elon musk may not be the only one who has grown tired of the radical left. i will come to you first. >> i can't but wonder how many fellow americans are in the same boat. there are so many people hispanic americans, african-americans who say traditionally i've been a democrat but i can't put up with this any longer. that's why elon musk has his
8:26 am
finger on it. >> i think it's interesting that elon musk thinks that the democratic party is the party of hate when the republican party produced a failed insurrection on january 6th. also the party that has supported the big lie. we also see that there is preaching anti-democrat in the name of religion and the great replacement theory that's spewed on this network alone and the buffalo shooter reference. these are all remnants of the republican party. that's the party of hate. >> harris: we will let them adjudicate that case without us commenting on it and you can have your opinion about whatever it is. i will go to charlie for rebuttal. >> i just think the idea of taking a horrible, horrible unthinkable tragedy like what we saw in buffalo, new york and trying to advance a political partisan political agenda off of it is just beyond
