texas with the latest. hello jeff. >> mike, present joe biden first lady joe biden are doing something many people this community and probably throughout this country are doing today. especially given what just happened a few days ago. they are going to church, they're going to mass as they pray. and trying to make sense of an unthinkable thing that happened. they are greeted by governor greg abbott is a bipartisan group of politicians. went over too robb elementary school where they paid their respects at the memorial site there for the people who died just a few days ago. he, along with first lady joe biden paid their respects and laid a wreath there. there joined by governor greg abbott as well as the mayor of uvalde, texas but we were told their protesters calling for governor abbott to take action on some sort of legislation that might help prevent future tragedies like this from

occurring. once a church is over that is when president biden first lady are scheduled to spend a significant amount of time, hours with the family of victims and those who survived this horrific shooting. later in the day it will then meet with fourth responders before heading back to delaware. >> this community has been hit hard. it's noble the president is going to be or to recognize the pain and suffering this community is going through. i think that is what leadership is. >> while the present takes time to visit the school, most people within this city are coming to pay their respects. just the last funeral for the victim and buffalo finished up this weekend. now were told by federal authorities one of the first memorial services still here in uvalde, texas still here today macon's visit from the president and first lady all that and much more important as they try to comfort this free broken community, mike.

mike: jennifer going to be from the justice department on the events that took place in uvalde, texas. matt, what are your concerns or hearing about the local police response? >> what might, as a father of a fifth-grader at my heart goes out to the people of uvalde. this unfortunately was a very poor response on the part of law enforcement. an active shooter's main goal is to inflict as much damage in a short a period as possible. the factors in our laps before the suspect was engaged as contrary to all the tactical teachings of these officers receive. that was time and how much control could have been applied to the victims. it is the job of the first person that shows up to be through that door to engage the subject. to eliminate the threat. and it appears in that case clearly did not happen. mike: david, what about your major takeaways? also think matthew said it well product a 3-year-old and the

>> hi mike. yes the summer travel season is off to a very rough start but just take a look at the gas prices here at the station in west l.a. 6075 cents a gallon. take a look at these numbers. california leads the nation with the highest price of gas at 6013 cents a gallon but that's the national average of $4.61 which is the highest ever reported nationally. and as you can see the price has gone up from a year ago but the national average was $3.4. and, there is no sign of the slowing down. >> i don't foresee oil prices really dropping all that dramatically. the global price of oil accounts for about 60% of what you pay at the pump. and if more people are hitting the road and you have this increased demand at gas stations you could see these prices stay high throughout all of summer and into the fall. >> despite the historic gas prices aaa expects this memorial

joins me now, country music singer army veteran craig morgan. craig welcome. >> mike thank you. >> as an army veteran does this show mean more to you as you think of the men and women in uniform who served and did not get to come home? >> i would have to say for sure it means more to me personally. especially having been a servicemember up at any time we do a show, again having been a servicemember myself for the men and women who serve it is extremely emotional. i have a personal attachment, relationship. but especially even more so when we are paying tribute told us men and women who as you have said made the ultimate sacrifice. mike: how about the song you're going to sing tonight why did you pick it? >> it is a song i actually wrote about the loss of my son called the father of my son and the holy ghost for its extremely emotional song, difficult song for me too sing. but i know there's a lot of people out there who suffer with loss. and i also know that by doing
