conversation goes some different directions in the wake of a tragedy like this. steve, this will be the first chance to share some of your thoughts which i look forward to hearing this morning. people are going to turn to gun control. i will say there is a tendency of those that know the least preach the most about guns and i don't know what the president is talking about there. that clip is utterly mystifying about 9 millimeters being a high caliber weapon and blowing a lung out of a body. i don't know what he is talking about. this is why this is important. if you are ignorant on the subject, you are not serious about a solution. in the wake of uvalde, i think we should be serious about solution. >> ainsley: what is the compromise republicans don't want to touch the second amendment. right to bear arms. >> democrats like joe biden saying the second amendment was never absolute? what is the compromise. republicans and democrats are going to be meeting to try to come up with a compromise. >> steve: today meeting via zoom. and it sounds as if mitch mcconnell asked john cornyn from the great state of texas,

your home state to negotiate with the democrats. and what they're focused on is a proposal just read about it to incentivize states to establish red flag laws to prohibit individuals who are deemed dangerous to themselves or others from getting their hands on guns. also looking at legislation to expand background checks for firearms sales and transfers. ultimately what it all comes down to will any of these suggestions or changes or tweaks to the legislation that currently are on the books, would it make any difference? i mean, would it have stopped that cimed from getting those guns and do it because he bought them legally when he turned 18. don't know where he got the money. that's the going to be coming out. now, across the country, parents are thinking you know what? maybe i should pay more attention to my kids. where did that kid get the money for the tactical gear? where did he get the 1800 bucks

for the gun? >> ainsley: uvalde kid disturbing footage of him sitting up in the front seat of his friend's car holding up a clear plastic bag with dead cats. if that's not sign. we have heard that for ages if you are going to hurt an animal at a young age what will you do next? >> will: that's absolutely true. i think this is shocking and somehow become expected as well. there is clearly an issue with a copycat trend in the wake of these tragedies. so, this is the most recent example. >> steve: we have a couple of them. >> will: that's the thing struggling with where to start. a florida teenage took a picture with what appeared to be the various weapons. the caption said hey, sire, directions to a nearest school. >> ainsley: there is the picture, he is 18 years old corey anderson happened in florida, he was arrested on felony charges after he allegedly posted these pictures. the detectives did go.

they investigated and they said the weapons were not true firearms but, instead, air soft guns. >> steve: right, they were pellet guns. nonetheless, whatever would possess that 18-year-old to do it. clearly, that is. >> ainsley: the attention? >> steve: i don't know. but i mean, he is in trouble right now. he is threatening to conduct mass shooting or act of terrorism. his bond was only set at 7500 bucks. as of yesterday. he was no longer listed as he was in custody. it's unclear whether or not he has hired a lawyer. but he is in trouble. the and the sheriff in hillsborough county down in florida, chad said this. this type of threat is unacceptable. this man intentionally instilled fear into our community as a sick joke. but will be warned this is no laughing matter. we will do everything in our power to apprehend and pursue charges on those who make school based threats. this is somebody who is almost

20 years old. 18 years old. somebody who is essentially half his age. a fifth grader in lee county, down in florida. as well. >> ainsley: 10 years old. and yesterday, the police posted to their facebook page the perp walk of 10-year-old fifth grader from patriot elementary school down in cape coral. and also posted his mugshot. we are not going to show his identity. we are not going to give his name because he is a minor. but, what he did was he showed four assault rifles and he said he bought them. he told his friend to get ready for water day. which in when you have got kids water day activities at water park or something like that. what was he thinking? what was he thinking? and the lee sheriff, lee county sheriff is going to be joining us at 7:20 because he is going to explain taps zero tolerance area when it comes to our schools. he was very emphatic.

you come into one our schools with the intent to kill some student or a teacher or a staff, we will kill you first. >> ainsley: every threat is real until you prove it not. also in that same area, a woman on thursday set she was going to go to the high school graduation in that area with a bomb strapped to her chest. >> will: ainsley, you asked me when we started this conversation is there a compromise to be found. we also to steve's point what is a solution. once we get to that answer, then we get to the compromise. our problem is clearly deeper than the gun lock at these threats? what's going on with young people? i just ask this morning. anecdotally starting to add up to me, accumulate. in the past, what's it been now a week? >> ainsley: a week last tuesday. >> will: 10 credible threats across the united states of kids threatening to do something to shoot up a school. they go from massachusetts to california. they are all across the country. they are always young men.

the federal reserve are ratchet up interest rates so high it will completely destroy the economy. it will bring things to a grinding halt. one of the fed governors a fellow by the name of christopher waller says he is prepared to take interest rates past neutral. last month neutral was 2.5%. so, what that means is we're looking at interest rates going up at least 22 more pert. one of my kids bought a house in dallas two months ago. got it 15 seconds before the rates started going up. if they were to try buy the house now. they wouldn't couldn't with them going up people won't be able to. >> ainsley: one lady a dream to buy her condo in florida so they could retire. they kept did. they kept saying lock it in 2.5 then the interest rates went up. they hadn't locked it in.

>> will: todd piro joins us live with all the details. todd? >> todd: a heart-warming story out of lawrence, kansas, police are praising father-son duo hometown heroes, 4-year-old xavier fell into this poll pool. xavier has autism and is nonverbal. managed to lose sight of his mother who says that her son is drawn to the water. luckily, his neighbor maddox wester house spotted him and quickly ran to alert his father. my friends were yelling at me to go get help and i just went like oh no and ran. >> maddox quickly got his dad who quickly jumped theliked fence to rescue xavier to perform cpr. he had been under water for nearry three and a half minutes. the three were reunited at press conference praising maddox and his dad for efforts. xavier's mother also thanking them for saving her done's lifive life. >> on that day that was one of

lgbtq themed cards to state representative erin para who immediately 'contacted the school. steve, i would love to start with you as a parent in this district, what is your reaction when you see i guess, a pregnant man flash card designed to teach a child the difference between red, white, and blue? >> >> well, unfortunately, it's an issue that's been going on for quite a while in wake county. parents, i'm very tuned in with some of the parents around wake county that have been fighting these issues. we are grateful for representative per ray for bringing this issue up and handling it swiftly and quickly it shouldn't take a state house representative to be able to issue handled so quickly. glad aaron and the principle at valentine handled the issue correctly and swiftly. it shouldn't take that this has been going on for quite a while.

it is shocking to see always, but it's not shocking to parents that are here in wake county. >> will: representative, what was the response when you brought this up with the school district? >> >> well, it was actually an impressive response from the principal at the school. i really need to commend her for her response to this. so, i learned of this situation. and i called her immediately, and i asked her some questions. i said first, are you aware of this? number two, do you approve of this? and number three, if do you not approve of this, then what can be done about it and she was a little shocked and surprised and kind of said my school? this is happening in my school? and she immediately contacted the area superintendent. she went down and looked in these classrooms spoke to the teachers. i will get back to you with what i found out. about 90 minutes later she got back to me and said yes, i found these cards. i took possession of the cards. and engaged again her area superintendent and human resources. and i think it's just really

drives home the point. look, a lot of loving families come in all different shapes and sizes and thank goodness for that kids need loving families right now more than anything else. but i think when you are looking at a card and from a preschooler that has a mommy hugging a daddy with baby in his belly. that's just not age-appropriate material to be showing preschoolers and i'm glad that this principal and the district acted immediately. >> will: you asked three questions. you said number three, what can be done about it? i want to address that issue. because, i think what you have encountered here is not a school policy. this wasn't a curriculum approved are pa by the school or the school district. correct me if i am wrong about this. individual teacher imposing their thoughts, their ideology, really forcing it, shoe horning it into a totally separate legislative. that is something that is going to be hard to control there are teachers across this country who are doing that on that own volition. what can we do about it?

>> well, i think that's right. in this case, this was not approved curriculum. this was not a tool that that one individual teacher brought into the classroom and principal didn't know about it. and it was not approved by the district. i think this underscores a greater point that it is so important for parents to be engaged in what goes on in their child's classroom. what is being taught and how things are being taught. i think that parents are asking for more of that ability to follow this so always comes back to the home. the entire country of direction diversify both. future of both. steven, i want to give last word to you. what is it you hope to see in wake county and across this country? >> well, there has been some great parental rights bills that have been passed in other states. i know that north carolina is doing the same here. what parents really isn't transparency and they want parental rights. so parental alienation has got to stop at school board level.

the school board is the one that sets the tone. and so, if we can get some parental rights brought back into schools, i'm running for school board here in wake county because of this issue and i'm grateful for erin pare and others pushing for parental rights in north carolina, that's something that voters are going to go to the polls about this year. >> will: empower parents are and empower the family they're our kids. thank you to both of you for bringing this issue up and talking about it on "fox & friends." >> thank you for having us. >> will: president biden dismissing calls send long missiles to russia. one man says he isn't doing enough he joins us next

tragedies. recently a 10-year-old boy in florida who made what law enforcement teams of credit in a critical threat he has been perp walked out of the police station for everyone to see. is a moment of accountability. back to your job, as current governor of arkansas, you bring up what can social media platforms due to flag people? that is a difficult thing on when to know someone is a credible threat. this is not easy, it's a complicated issue to address. within the hands of the state in all of these situations, for example and hardening schools are putting money into school resource officers. this is directly in the hands of arkansas. >> absolutely. it's why i want to have a bipartisan group of governors working on this issue as well. we have done a lot in arkansas, our school safety commission that i put together we put in more resources and improved our counseling in our schools.

there is always vulnerabilities that you worry about and also the execution of the plans that you have. but, in terms of the private sector platforms, it is hard. you have to use technology, you have to get the information to law enforcement to evaluate it for the school threat assessment group. down in florida with a 10-year-old, that was information a student saw that got text and they alerted the school officials. that is exactly the kind of culture in the school where they take these kinds of threats seriously. mental illness seriously and they report that. to make good judgments on it and act on it. >> steve: they did act on it because as soon as the police saw it, they went and arrested the 10-year-old. they perp walked him come the put his mug shot out, his name is out. we are not naming him because he is a minor, but we had the sheriff on just about an hour ago, governor. he was talking about how it

disrupted it on energy. that is a reason there is more that we are paying at the pump. we need to reassure more in the supply chain at the best thing we can do. in arkansas from a u.s. steel just announced $3 billion investment building a new steel mill. we're going to be producing steel in arkansas. we have been doing it, we will be soon the number one still producing state in the nation. but that's the kind of reassuring we need to do in our manufacturing that helps us on the supply chain. but we lost 600 jobs because the president canceled the keystone pipeline. 600 jobs, and that hurts us in terms of energy production. we have to be able to supply not just our energy needs but we also need to supply enough for our allies that depend upon us and want to depend upon us against russia. >> it sounds like a lot of job creation going on in arkansas. you are uniquely suited to talk

about the next subject because you used to work in the department of homeland security. the border patrol chief tweeted this out over the weekend. he essentially said we have a three-day recap. we seized 10031 pounds of fat no, meth, 18 large groups that caught ten sex offenders, three gang members, one assassination suspect, one fugitive wanted for murder, three agents assaulted. extremely proud. of the border patrol response. you know what's going on on our southern border is extraordinary. right now. the number of people coming across. the line between us trying to keep them out, back in the day, now it seems like they are just facilitating coming into united states. >> it is. the border patrol is doing a

fantastic job under the most difficult of circumstances. i'm glad the chief talked about the pride that he has in the border patrol officers making a difference in drugs that are coming in, the smuggling, but there are couple things that are very, very important here. first of all, the cartels are controlling the border versus law enforcement. we need to go after them build cooperation reducing the influence of the cartels. we have done that before coming to mexico, i think, can step up to the plate to a greater extent than they are but we cannot yield control of our border to the cartels right now the way they are. that is important, secondly we've had mixed messages. do they come? do they not? we have to have a consistent, tough border security message, and that's not what's happening. >> will: i'm curious, governor, as the governor and some dudes worked as well in border security there is a push

to have governors like the governor of texas greg abbott, declare that the border has been invaded. and then make the constitutional argument that you are then afforded in believing article one section ten cost three. and not 100% sure on that. you have the ability as a governor of the state to enforce the law with the federal government failed to do so. that would be a response that pushed? >> i think governor abbott has a large extent jumped in and i have sent some of our national guard there to be supportive of the border security efforts of governor abbott. what is needed it can't just be the states. it's a national responsibility, but there has to be a higher level of coordination with our state counterparts. the president should call in our border state governors and say let's work together on this. whenever i was in homeland security we actually had a

>> great questions. how many do i have right now? five employees. i should have at least 10-12 by now. into the summer it's closer to 20 after school lets out we usually have 20 employees. it's just been very hard to find. >> steve: yes. no place like yours, and i've been up to mass, it's great. for the most part, it is historically has been high school kids. college kids during their summers. but they don't want jobs this year, do they? >> no, not so much. a lot of them of taken jobs with instacart and some of the online delivery services because you can make a couple hundred dollars doing that and as opposed coming to work hard in ice cream shop or in any other place so you can work at your whim. you to look on your phone ago yeah, i'll take that one. i don't want to do that one.

>> steve: exactly, pick and choose. one of the problems is, as well, from your point of view, mark, is that child labor laws. it is are certain restrictions on who you can hire. if they could change a law to be used so that it's fair for you and fear for the family is, how would that look? >> it's quite simple. a high school student can play sports. they can go to an away game for sports and by the time they get back from their away game, it can be 11:00 at night or later. on a school night. however, federal labor laws state that during the school year a high schooler can only work until 7:00 at night. well, especially in my business in the ice cream industry, 7:00 at night is when you just start to get rolling. >> steve: exactly. >> that would be one of the biggest things. >> steve: that's a great idea. you know, you're coming into season right now.

it should be all hands on debt. i've been reading in the street journal article that we were quoting some places are open seven days a week are now having to open only five days. it they used to be open for lunch but now they can only open for supper. >> correct. i used to be able to open seven days a week. this year i have only been able to open four days a week. i have hired two people of the weekend, so i might be able to go to five days a week. but i still don't have anywhere near full coverage. >> sure. i am sure you're playing dumb and paying more this year than you have in the past and you can't get people. >> absolutely. minimum wage in massachusetts went up $0.75. minimum wage in massachusetts is 14. 25. to have somebody work for $14.25 is very difficult if at all.
