fury for his soft on crime policy. this time it is over the handling of a hit-and-run case last summer and it is getting a lot of attention again. it ended with a teenager being sentenced to only five months in juvenile probation. a camp after he ran over a mom and her baby. now we've learned that it was not that teenager's first. the incident all caught on video and a little warning here, if you have not seen it, it can be pretty brutal and i believe we have it from two or three different angles. you will see the 16-year-old driver in a stolen car mowing down the mom walking with her baby in a stroller. the car barreled into the mom come up docs are completely off of her feet, and she appears to try to get the child out of the way. the baby escapes our hermit and the mom has minor injuries. the mom is talking and she has hear what she is saying. someone tried to kill me and my

son and george gus cohen thinks that five months of camp is sufficient punishment. gascon and his staff are highlighting their incompetence and complete disregard for their victims. she speaks for a lot of victims. >> emily: she also speaks to the 10-year-old victim of sexual assault by another minor that gascon tried as an adult and sentenced to a mere two years and child facility. he said if we knew about her disregard for the harm she caused, talking with the perpetrator come up we would've handled the case differently. the complex issues or unusual initiative treated them that way. really? similar to having of prior family prosecution for poisoning another teenagers drink. he came in trying to emulate a

blanket policy that he would not try juveniles as adults. but if -- you can prosecute as an adult and defense can move to have a petition in juvenile court. at the time -- there was such an uproar out of it that they said fine, i will remove the blanket policy. he has not learned his lesson even though he assured the public by that statement in february that he would learn from his mistakes and change in the future. how many more people have to watch as their lives do not matter in this criminal justice system in california before he hopefully is recalled in fall? i'm worried that the next time this happens, for a baby in a mom, maybe it will have a different outcome. >> harris: this particular liberal d.a. said that why the teenager can go to what is essentially summer camp is because the mom and the baby did survive. legally, i don't think that stance.

if you look at it that way, and thank the good lord that they did, by the grace of god they are okay, that mom and baby. does that mean that just because a killer is inefficient and what they do, they get to go to summer camp? speech at the outcome should not justify the action in the intent which, a key part of what emily just said is that this driver swerved toward them. the mom talks about moving out of the way and backing out of the boy. he aimed the car toward him to try and kill them. there were drugs in the system. not to the point of intoxication, but drugs in the system. summer camp is not the answer. we are in the precipice of the biggest political earthquake since what we saw and virginia. possibly tomorrow. tomorrow is the recall for san francisco's d.a. and as a "washington post" said, this is an uphill battle. "the san francisco chronicle" says that it has national implications. if this d.a. is voted out just like gascon who has 500,000

signatures for his recall petition, if tomorrow that happened, this is an enormous deal and it looks like an uphill battle. three poles and one said that 68%, 57%, and the only one that shows 48%, just under majority, is the one commissioned by the recall team. that is internal polling. we will see that a political earthquake could happen tomorrow. >> harris: internal polling north of 45%. >> kennedy: 14% were uncommitted and it still looks even like with the internal polling, it's the best-case scenario. it still looks like he's in very deep trouble. >> harris: it is very deep. i want to get to this. gascon's office, this original statement on friday. this is what they said. "the decisions in this case were based on facts and the law, the sheriff's department agree with the felony charges that were filed. we stand by the purpose of

juvenile justice systems to rehabilitate young people." his spokesperson issued a correction. it's like the white house now. we need to correct her statement from yesterday. l asd was not involved in the decision on the felony charge and they were not the investigating agency. in other words, the cops say we had nothing to do with that. i'm just pointing out the facts. >> brian: no knows more about los angeles than you and southern california. i do not understand why gannon prefers the bottom and other technology has shown the ability. >> harris: are we back on yogurt? >> brian: just to show that i was being attention because kennedy has accused me of not paying attention in the past. things have to get really bad before they get better. almost hit rock bottom. we are seeing them hit rock bottom and the sheriff who his men ignored, they said that heat supports the decisions and he said no i didn't. the walk that back and that is

significant. if they caught this guy and this sky, it will be a signal that we can no longer have this permissive culture. that could ripple for a cops again. successful politicians will be tough on criminals and focus on the juvenile. what did we witness in buffalo? a 17-year-old who showed that he was violent and could shoot up a school. he is a clean record at 18. what we see in uvalde? a 17-year-old who is trying to buy a gun. when he comes 18, he has a clean record and he can get a gun. this is a future school shooter. this is what we are raising. look at his back on. he does not deserve a clean record, but he's about to get one at 18. our society needs to be protected by mutants like -- from mutants like this. >> harris: why do we have to hit rock bottom to know what the right thing to do is? >> kennedy: great question. that's what this whole thing has

been with the ultra progressive d.a.'s the country. it has been an experiment. we see that it has been a failed experiment because crime is going up and we have not achieved that precious and necessary criminal justice reform that the das say they are champing. they are not because they don't have solutions for young offenders. there is no proof that this juvenile camp is going to rehabilitate that person and he's going to come out the other side a new revitalized -- no. he's just biding his time until he can go out and commit more crimes. it's an interesting dynamic because there are a lot more people in l.a. and l.a. county who side with the sheriff, alex villa nueva and that is an elected position. he's a politician but he is the only one trying to clean up the homeless encampments. >> harris: because you have with their most recently, i live there but it's been many years and i was as young as yogurt. why is it that with this sort of

thing, sending a juvenile, there is not also a lot of description coming about why that would work. we have his original words. i'm going to ask the team if we could first hear what gascon said about not getting that kid prison. could we watch it? they are saying we don't. what i'm going to say is that i don't remember him ever saying these three things are going to completely change this kid and this division in this department and this individual. you bring up a builder for point but how do we know the camp is going to work? >> kennedy: and more people would be open to listening about it but they know how it works. a violent kid who has no regard for human life, he's going to partially go through the system and come out the other side worse because of the people he's cohurting with at the juvenile camp. it's not a deterrent and it's not punishment. these are the people for whom this system is set up.

it's not people who commit consensual crimes. those people should not be incarcerated, but gascon has a completely backwards. to your point, he does as well. he will probably be recalled tomorrow. gascon is a few signatures away from being on the ballot in the fall. >> brian: what happened to scared straight? in the 80s, they had criminals were trying to scare the hell os before they become adults. we should go back to methods that work. >> harris: like the mom with the stroller. >> brian: they took aim. >> harris: we know that the criminals are being put in front of them. >> brian: no question. >> harris: 117 days since the president's last interview with a reporter, sit down that is. instead of taking questions from the media, he is headed to hollywood to sit down with jimmy kimmel. the crises keep piling up and he wants to drop some lines and make some funnies.

it's he doing himself a favor by going to something this popular? president biden is not a big draw. he's not a draw when he goes on campaign trail or when it comes to an audience. you do this and, you're the expert, but you do this as a mix. you sit down with george stephanopoulos and then in between you do a late night show. but when you don't meet with the press for over 100 days and you don't do any sit downs of any length of any substance, for all this time, and then you say i'm going to west coast for a disastrous americas meeting that mexico is not showing up for and then i'll have time to go do jimmy kimmel right in the middle of it. it's terrible. no wonder he has been in the queue medications office. who signed off on this question what the new guys are the old guys? >> kayleigh: it's a great point. especially when 83% of the economy is most important or very important. it's like trump going out on a comedy tour and the height of covid. you don't sit down and laugh about this.

work to get there because the value of the dollar has plummeted. but you know what could happen on the late-night show. we are going to want to biden be as likable and affable as average as he wants to portray the message for. to him, it's more important to him to convey those roles think of the him as a leader. and to be commander in chief. my question them is how is the media's going to portray this. are they going to cover it accurately? adequately? are they going to say we don't need a president on a late-night show. we need a president in the the oval office making decisions and making decisions based on leadership that will impact us positively at the kitchen table and at home every day. that's what i care about. the aftermath. in the hour or 30 minutes or whatever it is, we know the joe biden we are going to get. let biden be biden. >> brian: he gave hunter an easy time, jimmy kimmel. jon stewart asked real questions. one thing about jon stewart as he asked real questions. jimmy kimmel is going to let them skate.

across the u.s.-mexico border, it appears that vice president kamala harris has abandoned her role as borders are and what was supposed to be her biggest assignment. kayleigh, recently the chief of the united states border protection came out with a three-day recap of all they had seized and accomplished at the southern border illustrating how amazing and vital their job is and what they do on a daily basis that is so incredible. on the other, illustrating the disaster that is the southern border. >> kayleigh: raul her teeth came out and in three days, this is what was attempting to cross her border. they seized, not accounting for what got through, three days or 131 bounce of sentinel, 13 pounds of math, 22 water rescues, 18 large groups to link a lot of migrants. one assassination sucked at it, one wanted for murder.

this was in just three days. folks in this caravan, he was saying that the first police check that they went through, every national guard was let go freely. you did not have 10,000 person caravans roaming freely. you did not have 15,000 people under a bridge in del rio. you had 15,000 mexican troops stopping this from happening because he made a deal with mexico. joe biden simply does not care. >> emily: and against that landscape, vice president kamala harris has not hosted an event in nine months. it's disappeared from her schedule and from her list of priorities including the root causes she cited it including acknowledging statistics coming across the border and her impact or her emphasis that she sat on diplomacy yet resulted in

central america as a vice president and she only spent six days there. >> emily: action now. >> harris: i went to look this up. in october of 2021, harris' vice presidential candidate, she visited the u.s. border town -- the u.s. mexico border town. june 18th she went with migrant moms who were separated from their children at facilities near san diego. 2014, while attorney general, she toured the border at the port of entry. two of the three times she went there before she took the job. what did you call or? >> kennedy: at the cackling pantsuit. >> harris: before she had this particular opportunity and leadership of the nation, she went to two ways as i have a wall. when she goes to the border in california, she's having a different experience.

loses. she leads a 9% democratic field. leading hillary and sanders 19 to 12 which makes you think what are the standards that you judge somebody question rick she's accomplished nothing. fix the border situation and she says i would rather not. a couple of zoom calls, one visit, got embarrassed in an interview, and doesn't talk about it. maybe the biggest mistake that the biden administration did is they do not address the southern border. it's not that they have a bad policy, they've no policy except to allow our fence to rust in the desert and multimillion dollars a day that we paid for. >> harris: the materials. that's what we were doing to make sure people don't steal it. >> emily: it to quote the dave matthews band if she's the best around, let's see how those poll's shape up, but i think it will be a bleak future for them

ashamed" but instead to be empowered for using safely. we've seen similar billboards and posters before in san francisco. two years ago, the city put up this billboard that read this, "note overdose, do it with friends, use with people, take turns." hard to believe. belmar blames, "toxic positivity for the new approach to drug use." >> this is the problem of losing civilization. shame is a part of life. we do this. toxic positivity. everything is positive. everything is not positive. you should be ashamed that you are using. just stop. >> kayleigh: i find myself saying about belmar, he has a point. >> brian: every two or three clips unable to use them on the radio. he has a liberal to the core, but he is saying logic. he brings up this logic that

cuts through rhetoric because for the last 25 years, he has been somebody to leave the tip of the spear democratic pauses. say things blunt and use obscenities to say it. now he's sitting back saying this is stupid. this is the stupidest thing i've ever seen. we've been saying it all week, but there's something about him coming from the left saying that has him alienated from the left. >> kayleigh: it does. this ad campaign in new york, it's a second time they've done it. there is one portion of the ad that bothers me. we'll pull it up. from the top it says don't be ashamed you are using, be empowered that you're using safely. the bottom portion. what are you using? they talk about fenton all specifically. what is fentanyl, why is it dangerous. tips to avoid. take turns, small dose, go slowly. this is a fentanyl. the deadliest cause of death of

ages 18-45 and their recommendation is to take it slowly? >> emily: it's also jumped out to me too. start small and go slowly. how does that help? when there is a deadly amount of fentanyl to kill the amount of people in the head of a pen. how does that help in the majority of teen overdoses is because they did not know what they were ingesting and they had no control over the amount of toxic substances in which they were given. when you say go slowly, you don't know what you are getting and you don't know what you're taking. not only does it defy logic, but it is dangerous to the point of fatality. there is nothing safe about this type of drug because it is so unpredictable. it is so toxic and so fatal. law enforcement have died simply securing it. canines. it is so deadly and dangerous and the fact that they are treating it as if it is a cigarette or something that you have control or knowledge over the ingredients is antithetical

to everything we all stand for what you securing the lives of every single human. the fact that we've poured $160 million into those homeless hotels, for example there in san francisco to procure the safe use and 100 people overdosed and died in the last year, i think it shows it's a failed experiment. >> kayleigh: $750,000 into the second portion of the campaign. >> harris: is like china's reading the talking point. the world's greatest manufacturer of fentanyl. happy to keep them hooked. translate that and put it in the book so everyone reads it. by the way, what does it mean to take turns? notes being talked out of using the drug? just pass it the room? i read this one part and maybe we shouldn't be doing this right now. i'm confused. what does it mean to take turns? how does that help anybody? before i'll tell you. unfortunately i know people who have overdosed from fentanyl and it's tragic. the point of these is to prevent more loss of life. you don't want people to die. of course, we don't want people

using drugs that are going to kill them. people are still using drugs. you can have all of the just say no and deer programs that you want, it's not going to keep people from using drugs. that's because people sit around and they all shoot up at the same time with the same amount and then they all died because they have it fentanyl. the point of taking terms is because you see and make sure what you were putting in your body is safe. do you want people to not use drugs? yes, that's the ultimate ideal. but nothing that the government has done so far has kept people from using drugs. they talk about -- teach them how to not die. those sticks tell you if there is stuff in it. they're lacing it with everything. heroin, meth. >> harris: your neighbor watches out when you pass out a few use? >> emily: i prefer the just say no. >> kennedy: that works for you but for people who are already addicted, it doesn't work.
