here through a recall. organizers say they have enough signatures to get the recall on the november ballot but they will continue collecting more, dana. >> dana: matt finn in l.a. thank you. bill. >> bill: another night is in the books, another june primary behind me on the map. you can see virginia, alabama, georgia were up last night. let's start at the senate. runoff race in the state of alabama and we have a winner, mo brooks was trying to win the seat. he failed 2-1 to katie britt. britt picked up the endorsement of donald trump in the final weeks of that campaign. mo brooks had it and lost it several months ago. britt in all likelihood will be a u.s. senator coming from the deep red state of alabama come november. couple of really good house races, too i want to show you a few in georgia first. and this is a bit of a stunner. mike collins, who wanted trump's endorsement campaigned
6:07 am
like he was all in for trump and beat vernon jones badly almost 75% of the vote. trump got behind jones and tried to pick up the seat to no avail. east of atlanta now as it runs to the south carolina border with augusta, georgia. district 10 in all likelihood mike collins will be your representative in the u.s. house come november. a few other ones on the map. two in virginia. this is virginia congressional district 2 lies in the southeast and virginia beach, a real good candidate, very impressive resume kiggans is an easy winner, a navy helicopter pilot. nurse, mother of four and set up a good race for republicans think they can flip the race come november. also congressional district 7 also an area where republicans think they have a chance of doing this here.
6:08 am
vega, latino. well-known statewide. how does it look now? come back here and i will advance you one time past georgia. this is your match-up in virginia, too. laura on the january 6 committee will face off against higgins and vega will take on spanberger in the newly drawn 7th district north of richmond here and south of washington, d.c. they are in the books ready to go head-to-head in november. >> dana: great update. we want to update you on another race in south texas. democratic congressman cuellar won the recall. a setback for progressives. here is former house speaker newt gingrich. here is what cisnero said last night. i'm grateful for the leap of
6:09 am
faith you took on the race. i fight for a more progressive democratic party and work to turn texas blue next november. she was a challenger but they came close, mr. speaker. they came pretty close. >> i think it tells you a lot about the modern very left wing democratic party that cuellar is the last democrat who is pro-life in the u.s. house. a party which had been historically about 50/50 has over the last 20 years become totally committed to abortion and that's part of why he had so much support against him from around the country. he has very strong local roots and continues to survive but it does tell you a lot about the politics of the democratic party that he is literally the last pro-life democrat in the u.s. house of representatives. >> bill: a lot of republicans thought if cisneros was a candidate they could defeat her in department. we'll see what happens with
6:10 am
cuellar now. in nevada there is a suggestion that democrats in the state by the thousands are dropping their registration with the democratic party and joining republicans. what do you know about that? >> well, i know that people in nevada have a very strong anger about how the governor handled covid, the economy has never fully recovered. we have a very, very strong candidate in laxalt, the former attorney general running for senate. strong candidates at every level including the sheriff running for governor. i think nevada will be one of the states that has a biggest shift towards republicans. and remember, whatever the polling data is like, what matters in the end is who is willing to show up and vote. what we saw in that south texas special elect should be recently is the democrats just collapsed. they wouldn't go out and vote. we had one county that swung 38
6:11 am
percentage points from democrat to republican in the special two weeks ago. so i think that you are seeing this happen. i think nevada will be similar and latinos in particular have really dramatically rejected the kind of woke approach to racist, trans sexual, 37 or 55 different pronouns. all that stuff goes over very bad in the latino community and they're practical. you buy gas and say it ain't working. buy baby food and say it ain't working. go down the list and the number of people now will figure out big government socialism doesn't work grows every single week because they feel the pain personally. >> dana: up on the board call for 3, the balance of power in the house now. democrats at 220, republicans 2010. now that we have a lot of primaries in the books i know we have redrawn districts so we don't precisely know if all of
6:12 am
these will turn out in the republicans' favor obviously but as you read the tea leaves looking to november based on what we've seen in the last few weeks what will happen in november in the mid-terms? >> assuming for a moment that biden sticks with his left wing anti-oil, anti-gas policy and assuming they remain as incompetent as they have been and part of the left. the border is not uncontrolled because they are incompetent. it is uncontrolled because they want it to be. criminals you saw in your report from los angeles, criminals aren't on the street by accident. criminals are on the street because soros has been spending money to elect very left-wing district attorneys who refuse to lock up dangerous people. if all of that continues, then kevin mccarthy will be speaker, mitch mcconnell will be majority leader in the house. the margin will be somewhere between 25 and 70 seat gain depending on exactly what
6:13 am
happens. remember, if you have a county that swings 38 points, you have no idea what is going to happen around the country because you don't know how people are going to feel. i think they'll get madder, not happier. particularly if a recession builds as people keep predicting and if federal reserve keeps raising interest rates. the biggest borrower. interest crowds out everything else and it becomes an enormous problem probably by october. >> bill: drama in november. thank you for your time. we'll speak soon. democrats focusing on crime as the top issue in the election. stacey abrams is making the second amendment making it a focus in her race for governor. >> dana: a plane burst into flames at the miami airport.

>> well, i don't like it because it is a couple of months. i'm all for tax cuts. in fact, to mitigate the fed's tightening and to mitigate the fight against inflation i think they should make the trump tax cuts across the board permanent is my view. they should deregulate the whole economy especially energy as the chevron ceo suggested. the bidens are running a war against fossil fuels and a war against energy and a war against business, okay? and therefore they are running a war against consumers and motorists so the inflation rate is around 10% and they could really help with a permanent tax cut, okay? lower marginal tax rates on the supply side. the gasoline tax you will get 18 cents if it's all passed along. i don't know that it will be. you know, it's about a 3% or 4% cut.

want to read to you from chief justice roberts and sotomayor. roberts said the state pays tuition for certain students at private schools so long as the schools are not religious. that is discrimination against religion. sotomayor says if a state cannot offer subsidies to its citizens without being required to fund religious exercise any state that values its anti-establishment will have to curtail the support it offers to its citizens. when you heard this news, i know you have said a lot about school choose. what was your reaction? >> i thought it was great news. it is a two-fer. a win for kids and a win for religious liberty in this country. i don't think it was a hard case, dana. you cited chief justice roberts there and he had written in an earlier case two years ago involving a similar program similar type of situation in montana. all he is saying is states

don't have to have these tuition programs but if they do have them, they can't discriminate against religious institutions, which is what was going on here. i think that is a very reasonable decision and i think it is a boon for school choice and it is very timely decision because more parents, of course, these days in the wake of covid, are exercising school choice. and i think this decision will bolster those efforts. >> dana: someone over at cnn had a different take and reaction. let's listen to him. >> historically, the court has said if there is government money going to religious institutions, including schools, that is a violation of the establishment clause. that idea is breaking down under the conservative majority. >> dana: pretty understated but you can imagine this sent shock waves through the nation. we had state representative

races in iowa, for example, that turned on the very issue of school choice and the ability of the governor there who wants to be able to provide more vouchers. on a practical level for a mom and dad who want to get their kids out of their situation, what does this case mean for them going forward? >> it is huge. it's a huge case and it means that more of these programs can be set up without worry of any violation of the establishment clause that they were referring to. there was no violation here. it wasn't state officials directing the money. it's the parents directing the money. there is no violation. by the way, government funding in the form of pell grants is used to higher education to go to religious institutions. so for instance the notre dame, university of notre dame which is a religious institution can except pell grants but not notre dame academy which is a high school can't except them. there is no consistency there and we need more consistency and i think this ruling will

7:21 am
boon for school choice and so does betsy devos to the extent parents are now realizing how little control they have over our school systems, over what is being taught. now they are learning about the racial propaganda that's going on, the sexualization of early childhood learning that is going on. and that's one reason people are leaving more traditional public schools in numbers we haven't seen in a while. they are going to religious institutions, charter schools, non-sectarian private schools. more homeschooling is going on. so i think the unions really have overplayed their hand here and november is a time when we can find out if republicans can take advantage of this. >> dana: all right, jason riley, thank you for explaining the practical impact of the ruling yesterday from the supreme court. thank you. >> bill: wild scene in florida. check it out. teenagers break into a multi-million dollar mansion and throw a party inside and
