tv   The Ingraham Angle  FOX News  June 30, 2022 7:00pm-8:00pm PDT

7:00 pm
>> sean: that's all the time we have this evening. thanks for being with us. thanks for making the show possible. set your dvr so you never miss "hannity." have a great fourth of july weekend. enjoy this beautiful country, all the blessings and liberty, freedom from god. the rights come from god, not government. let not your heart be troubled. happy fourth, laura. >> laura: happy independence day. you made me sad on the crime story, because i can't stop thinking about that poor woman and what has happened to the city of new york. we're back in the 1970s. the no man's land, early 80s. people have to vote for change. >> sean: think of our friend gianno caldwell, losing his brother. a 5-month-old baby girl shot and killed. this happens every weekend. they never solve the problem.
7:01 pm
>> laura: democratic leadership has to change. sean, have a wonderful fourth. we'll see you next week. i'm laura ingraham and this is "the ingraham angle." the most unpatriotic president ever. that is the focus of tonight's angle. now, going into the fourth of july weekend, the most patriotic time of the year but of course, it's really a miserable time for the left. they're embarrassed by our people and our history. let's face it, they hate most of our past presidents including washington and lincoln. they want mount rushmore ripped down. the last thing that they want to do is celebrate america's independence. they don't want america to be independent. so you think i'm exaggerating? this is just tv stuff. i'm not. think about who these people have become. think about what they truly believe. how they feel about american history.
7:02 pm
>> racism is real in america. it has always been. xenophobia is real in america. it always has been. sexism, too. >> should not be part of history filled with racism and sexism to determine or rights today. >> laura: what a horrible person. how do these people feel about the people that live here. >> the top domestic threat comes from racially motivated violent extremists. >> while supremacy is a poison. it's a poison running -- it really is. running through our body politics. it's been allowed to fester and grow in front of our eyes. >> laura: he's talking about half the country there.
7:03 pm
how do they feel about our being and independent country? >> the foundation of a rules-based international order, built out of the wreckage of two wars, word wars. >> violations of a core tenant of the rules based international order. >> one of our defining missions is to strengthen the international rule-based order. >> laura: oh, my god. let me define rules based international order for you. they're vague rules that exist only to restrain and weaken the united states and empower countries that enjoy free riding off of us, or schin. the rules never, never apply to china, which would never dream of doing anything against its own self-interests. forget about it. the biden administration doesn't go overseas to defend american interests. no. they engage in multilateral talks to advance global interests. american interests don't come second or third in biden world.
7:04 pm
why should we be trusted to make our own policies or even frankly choose our own leaders? we should have to live under international norms drafted by bureaucrats in europe. the e.u., they should run our domestic policy agenda, climate policy and decide all hot button cultural issues. we know what they think. >> clearly has massive impacts on people's thinking around the world. it's an important decision. i have to tell you, it's a big step backwards. >> laura: of course, biden rather than stand up for our constitution and defend our system, even when he disagrees with court rulings, he piled on. >> america is better positioned to lead the world than we ever have been. the one thing that has been destabilizing is the outrageous behavior of the supreme court of the united states. overruling not only roe v. wade but essentially challenging the
7:05 pm
right to privacy. >> laura: what? i'm confused. i thought that the one thing destabilizing the world was president putin in ukraine? of course, biden never talks about president xi's forced ensleighment of millions of chinese or the extermination of god knows how many dissidents in china. biden never speak about how destabilizing it is when china threatening taiwan. small potatoes. instead, we saw joe biden standing in madrid telling the word that what is truly destabilizing is that some women in states like mississippi can't get more abortions. talk about outrageous behavior, it's beyond unpatriotic and disgusting. for him, placating the far left by trashing america abroad is far more important than standing up for the american people in front of the sneering euro elites that are being guarded by soldiers from the same country
7:06 pm
they despite. they're scrambling to do everything that they can to reverse our independence. they think our health policies should be made by the who. they think our trade policies should be made by the wto. that our foreign policy should be shaped by the europeans and xi over there in hong kong doing a victory lap in these european fools are complaining about the fact that americans in all 50 states get to vote on abortion? okay. send me a memo the next time that boris and emanuel lecture president xi about the lack of fundamental rights over there. don't held your breath. in fact, this is boris johnson today. i was up early and decided to watch him live at his press conference after the g-7. he was asked if the u.k. needs to reexamine its relationship with china. notice the equivocation. >> very important that we
7:07 pm
remember that we have to -- we have a huge economic relationship with china. it's very important that we understand that china is a great country, going to be a gigantic part of the world's economy for time to come. so you need to -- there has to be a balanced approach. >> a balanced approach. but no step backwards in china. only in the united states. real courage, bo-jo. what biden should have been doing in europe is standing up for america. not some vague notion of a vague order. it's staggering to think that when we face the most dangerous situation in modern times right now, the u.s. is basically using virtually all of its military efforts to prop up europe. while conceding the rest of the world to china. biden re-assured the world, not americans, there's no end to the amount of money and weapons that we'll be sending to ukraine.
7:08 pm
>> how long is it fair to expect american drivers and drivers around the world to pay that premium for this war? >> as long as it takes. russia cannot in fact defeat ukraine and move beyond ukraine. >> laura: wait a second. doesn't that sound familiar? well, the media of course missed the boat here. >> we're more united than ever. with the addition of finland and sweden, we'll be stronger than ever. we're going to increase the nato border by 800 miles along the finish russian border. >> laura: no, nato is not getting stronger. america is getting weaker. congrats, joe. by agreeing to nato expansion, you just made things more dangerous in europe. putin is now threatening to move nuclear weapons to the border with finland. so all of this drama focussed in one place, all of this money, billions and billions diverted, it just gives china more running
7:09 pm
room everywhere else in the world. tucker has been talking about south america, happening in africa and on our door step. it's time for europe to step up and defend itself. we must encyst on it. president trump tried. we have to reorient our own priorities in a changing world. instead biden chooses to drain our wealth in europe while the leaders there hate us for everything we stand for. so this effectively means that we're abandoning the entire rest of the world to china, which is funding the war against ukraine by buying russian oil and wheat. remember, that biden is on the verge of dropping trump's tariffs against china even though we have a near record trade deficit with them. stay with me. we're indirectly funding the war in ukraine that we're trying to help ukraine win. it's twisted, right? there's nothing patriotic about what biden is doing in our
7:10 pm
foreign policy or with our energy policy, trade policy or at the border. all of it is designed to make america less independent, less prosperous and less happy. so happy independence day! we're going to celebrate this one and the one coming in the mid-terms and in 2024. that's the angle. joining me now, senator mike lee, author of "saving nine, the fight against the left audacious plan to pack the supreme court and destroy american liberty." senator, speaking of the complete disregard for our institutions, you saw what biden did today in madrid. i want to bring it back to something else that the president said overseas. >> most important thing to be clear about is, i believe we have to codify roe v. wade in the law and the way to do that is to make sure that the congress votes to do that. if the filibuster gets in the way, it's like voting rights, we
7:11 pm
should be provide an exception for this. >> laura: the convulsion over the court continues and now being aided by our president abroad. your reaction. >> this is appalling, laura. the fact that he would go while on foreign soil and attack the supreme court of the united states to undermine it and to delegitimize it is unpatriotic. i have never seen anything like it. secondly, in so far as he's suggesting that they need to codify roe, he's lying there. they tonight want to codify roe. they want to pass a bill in addition to codifying roe, it would take the protections of row all the way up until the moment a child takes its first breath. so no state anywhere could impose any kind of legal restriction, any kind of protections for unborn human beings. he's managed to be at ones entirely heartless towards the unborn and entirely inconflict with his own prior decisions,
7:12 pm
his own prior statements about abortion while as a u.s. senator and otherwise and managed to disrespect one of the great institutions of our system. worse than all, the supreme court is not a bad court. it's a good court. the fact that it's run by mortal human beings, they make mistakes. this is unacceptable behavior. this won't fly with the american people. >> laura: senator, ed markey talked about why it's so important for the democrats to finally get rid of the filibuster. >> the filibuster has to be amended or eliminated. we'll see so many areas, just an
7:13 pm
eviceration of rights. >> laura: the left hates the supreme court because they still uphold the constitution, with the justices on board. >> make no mistake. this idea of nuking the filibuster is in conflict with what joe biden has said, that it would be a bad idea. this is not limited to their so-called attempts to codify roe. it's the first step. the real objective will is to expand the court. to pack the supreme court, which is as i explain in my book, one of the most disastrous things that they can do to the constitution. it's anti-constitutional. it would erode everything about it. ed markey, one of the original argument texts of the modern plan to do it. every time this has been attempted in modern history, laura, it's ended bad by for the
7:14 pm
american people. >> laura: senator, this idea of codifying roe because a lot of people have been inquiring about this, i don't know what the legislation would look like or specifically say. i guess there's a draft of it written. i haven't read it. what would the two or three challenges that the states would lodge against such an effort other than obvious states rights and the tenth amendment? >> yeah, first of all, they would perhaps argue that this is outside of congress' authority to enact sweeping nationwide legislation like this. you have to have a hook in there somewhere. let's say they use the commerce clause. that's what cause uses for almost any type of legislation it passes. abortion is not an economic activity. it's not an economic activity that takes place across state lines typically. so those might be some of the
7:15 pm
challenges that they would lodge against it. the legislation itself may or may not be upheld at the end of the day. you know as well as anyone, the supreme court has been permissive and differential to congress. that's what i talk about in "saving nine", the ugly gift that keeps giving that came about as fdr's court packing plan 85 years ago. at the end of the day, what they want to do is make sure that infantacide is legal. >> laura: they don't want people to have the ability to determine their own destinys and futures in every state. they hate that. a lot of them don't like america or our founding documents. if they could, they would get rid of it all and replace it to something more akin to what governs the e.u. senator, great to see you tonight. thank you. >> how are you celebrating independence day? are you celebrate something. >> no.
7:16 pm
i'm black. i celebrate juneteenth. i have never -- it's never been a big holiday for me and my family. at the most, we have the day off or barbecued. independence day is for a certain segment of the population, not everyone. >> laura: we'll have more about the meaning of fourth of july to people when he joins us later in the show. we want reaction to that part from bob woodson, president and founder of the woodson center. we just discussed with senator lee the attacks on our institution. democrats say they care about democracy and process but in the end, they want to stair it down. how worrying is it that more americans seem to believe less in our founding -- the promise of liberty and independence day itself? >> well, this devastating is for
7:17 pm
more populations like the black community, progressives are pushing this anti-american agenda and using slavery as a bludgeon against the country. one person saying that as you shown she celebrating june teen's but not 1776. she does not understand that if it was not for 1776, there would be no juneteenth. black americans have sacrificed and demonstrated their commitment to these values and ideals of ours by the shedding of their blood. blacks fought in every war that this country has had. not a single black was ever convicted of treason. we have a harlem hell fighters. the tuskegee airmen. all of these. so america, people of color are risking their lives to come here and enjoy the freedoms that we
7:18 pm
enjoy. so we should celebrate and we will celebrate. >> laura: a princeton professor had an interesting take on independence day, bob. watch. >> what are your thoughts going into this fourth of july weekend on pride and being an american? >> fourth of july is always been an incredibly vexed holiday for me. given the tradition out of which i come. it's strained by juneteenth, the way in which we struggle with the legacies of slavery. >> laura: he definitely just doesn't want to teach his students about the wonders of liberty as understood by generations and generations. >> no. they make this false claim that some of the challenges of disadvantage in these cities around the country, these
7:19 pm
disparities are the cause by racism and history of slavery and discrimination. in fact, laura, the first 50 years after slavery, blacks actually in these cities fared better under segregation than they have over the past 50 years of progressive policies. children, we have five high schools in urban centers at the turn of the century with 50% of the budgets of white schools, used textbooks, crumbling buildings. every one of those high schools scored outtested all white schools. today in those same schools, blacks are achieving only 10% or efficient in schools today when at the turn of the century under segregation. >> laura: bob, happy
7:20 pm
independence day. happen if i fourth of july. so great to see you as always. now, up next, why is the administration and the fed lying to you about the real estate of the economy? we'll examine it and lust what does a reagan biography think about his library, the reagan library hosting liz cheney last night? craig does not hold back next.

>> i'm a conservative republican. i know at this moment, we're confronting a domestic threat we never faced before. a former president who is attempting to unravel the foundations of our constitutional republic. the reality that we face today as republicans as we think about the choice in front of us, we have to choose because republicans cannot both be loyal to donald trump and loyal to the constitution. >> laura: that was democrat -- republican almost to be soon former congresswoman liz cheney speaking at the reagan library last night. can you believe that? why they chose to host her is kind of the opposite of what i think of conservative to speak
7:26 pm
there is beyond me. it was between eye opening. because waxing poetic about the january 6th committee, she struck a tone resembling -- she sounded like a dime store nancy pelosi. >> since january 6, i have been incredibly moved by the young people that i have met, especially the young women. young women who seen instinctively to understand the peril of this moment. let me also say this to the little girls and to the young women who are watching tonight. these days for the most part men are running the world. it's not going that well. >> laura: joining me now, craig shirley, ronald reagan biographer. most recent book, 1945. why would the reagan bribe ask liz cheney to speak? why? >> i have no idea, laura. it's a mystery to me. when i saw that she was going to
7:27 pm
speak at the reagan library, the first thing that came to my mind is reagan's famous 11th commandment. that will shall not speak ill of a fellow republican. she's made a career speaking ill of fellow republicans, not just donald trump. so why they would have her there, i have no idea. this one is going to leave a mark. i think the reagan library is going to see donations trickle down because of this and attendance trickle down because of this. don't forget, the presidential debates are in a couple years. donald trump is not going to go to the library for a debate. show of unity, other republican presidential candidates will no got to the reagan library to debate either. the debates are over for the reagan library. >> fred ryan that runs "the washington post" is also on the reagan library board. so maybe the foundation board. maybe that's part of the deal.
7:28 pm
here was the real audience. the real audience for that speech. watch. >> after testimony for the history books, that was a speech for the history books. >> it's remarkable to see her sort of talk in such blunt ways about the way she sees the world and the courage that she sees in cassidy hutchison. she said if i don't get re-elected, oh well. >> did you see the line that got the applause? >> holy cow, craig. that's the commentary we've been accustomed to. >> yeah. can she pander any more? one sound bide, she used a first person pronounce five times in one sentence. this is all about her. this is all about her self-awareness. there's nothing about real ideology or anything else. if she's so worried about the commission and what they're investigating, why not investigate the summer of hate when the left burned 200 cities and caused $2 billion of damage
7:29 pm
and injured dozens of people, killed dozens of people? why isn't that being investigated? >> laura: as a historical matter, she said the country never face add domestic threat like this. never. historically. >> insanity. she doesn't know her history. we faced wars, depressions. we faced many, many major issues over 230 years. this is nothing compared to -- we faced a civil water, the american revolution. all of these things make this a tiny matter in the context of history, this is nothing. she doesn't know history. she doesn't her history. >> laura: craig, great to see you tonight. thanks so much. >> america's better position to lead the world than we ever have been. we have the strongest economy in the world. our inflation rateses are lower
7:30 pm
than other nations in the world. >> laura: quick fact check. the u.s. inflation rate is 8.3% which is higher than the other g-7 nations that you said that in front of. why does he keep lying to us about the strong economy? same thing with jay powell. the atlanta fed just lowered the q-2 gdp forecast to negative 1%. if that is right, it means that biden and the fed chair have been declaring how great our economy is and well-positioned. we're in the midst of a recession. joining us now is peter schiff, global strategist. peter, you waxed poetic about what kind of condition our economy is in. it's worse than i just stated. >> it's been in recession all year. powell said the economy is so
7:31 pm
strong, it can easily withstand higher interest rates. we're already in a recession. we had negative 1.6. if the atlanta fed is right, it's negative 1. may be worse than that. we still have near record low unemployment the way the government scores it, which is not very honest. if we're already in a recession with low unemployment, imagine how much worse this recession is going to get when employers start reacting to the recession by laying off workers in mass and as the fed continues to raise interest rates and as inflation continues to drive consumer prices higher. >> laura: janet yellen testifying, the treasury secretary on the hill, and she was questioned but i think senator wrapped and asked if there's too much debt in the country.
7:32 pm
watch. >> in thinking about what is a reasonable level of debt, there's a number of different metrics that one might look at. commonly debt to gdp ratios are a measure that is widely used. ours is a little over 100%, which traditionally has been reported as high. we are in a very low interest rate environment. >> laura: that was from september. now her interest rates have surged, i wonder how she feels. >> of course, the reason we have so much debt is because we were in such a low interest rate environment for so long thanks to the fed. now that the fed has to raise interest rates, it's pulling the rug out from under the economy because now the debt is completely unsustainable, especially if the fed actually raises interest rates high enough to successful fight inflation. so far they haven't come close. >> laura: so peter, how much do interest rates have to go up in order for us to put the brakes
7:33 pm
on? >> you have to get interest rates higher than the inflation rate. so if you're talking about 1/2, you're talking about 9, 9 1/2 at a minimum. nobody including federal government can afford the service the debt. but we're not going to get ahold of inflation until we cut government responding. we have to get rid of the deficits that the fed is monetizing. nobody in the biden administration is talking about reducing government spending. their plans are to spend more money when they complain about inflation. inflation is the tax that we're paying to financial their spending. >> laura: peter, happy fourth of july. we love having you on. july fourth is already here. get your u.s.a. made freedom matters gear at lauraingraham.com. you'll love it. up next, we sent raymond on the

7:39 pm
>> laura: its time for a special eddy of seen and unseen. we turn to raymond arroyo. you took to the streets to ask feel whether they took pride in our great country. >> yeah, we asked it in a sneaky way. i asked new yorkers how they're celebrating independence day and what it means to them. the answers were startling and give us insight to how people feel about the country. >> how are you celebrating? >> i'm going to celebrate the ideal of america and not the actual country. >> what don't you like about the actual country? >> there's a whole -- racism and sexism. >> i believe the idea is a lot better than the country. the american dream can be achieved in my personal opinion but we're not there yesterday. >> i'm celebrating my independence to get a paycheck on july 4. >> you're not proud of the country?
7:40 pm
>> are you proud of the country? >> i am. i tonight have too much pride for the country. i have pride in my heart for my fell le countryman, i would be ashamed based on the conditions i see in the streets and what i see on a daily basis. >> are you celebrating? >> no. i'm black. i celebrated juneteenth. it's never been a big holiday. >> i don't think there's much to celebrate this year if we want to stay current. >> you don't feel independent and free? >> absolutely not. at a woman, no. >> happy birthday, america. >> going to see the family. get up with the homeys. take a walk with your favorite uncle. having a good time. celebrating life. >> i know i want some hot dogs and cheeseburgers. >> i want a holt dog real bad. >> as long as we hot dogs, cheeseburgers, it will be a
7:41 pm
family affair. >> you know what is disturbing? how many people dislike the country. >> laura: really. >> these are citizens that actually hate their own country. is celebrations are get together. you look at this new fox news poll. whether you're proud of your country or not, the poll revealed republicans, 36% are proud of their country. 60% are not. that's allower number than democrats. >> laura: who are these republicans that are not proud of the country? >> i don't care what your political fortunes are. that should not judge or prejudice your love or pride of country. that is your future and your heritage. you should defend it. it's no wonder some people are down on the country. they've been taught this by republicans and democrats. >> my family never celebrated july fourth. it was met with like so much shock. it's because my father was a student hoff history. >> they knew what they were
7:42 pm
doing. these republican members of congress knew what they were doing and they need to be shamed for it. >> they have co opted this term "patriot" to mean something that is really just bastardized. patriot. that's not when a patriot is. patriots don't do this. >> laura, division is not a virtue. trying to separate people rather than unite them, that's what people should be doing in the media. every day it's running down not only a portion of the citizenry, but the country itself. this is really dangerous. people don't stop to think about it enough. when i was out interviewing people, we constructed a historical quiz. see if you can get these. >> who established the celebration of july fourth? and said we should celebrate with fireworks and celebrations coast to coast. do you remember. >> i don't. everybody has a different opinion of it. >> probably the woman. >> martha washington. >> i'm going to say martha. >> i stopped history when i left
7:43 pm
school. so yeah. school is out for the year. no more questions. >> can iphone a friend? >> you can phone a friend. >> okay. can iphone you? >> i'm going to go with a wild card martha washington. >> i'm not giving anything away. who was it? >> john adams. she got it right. leave to it the bostonian. you're the only one, this celebrity is a district descendant of someone that signed the declaration of independence. is it denzell washington, amy adams or reese witherspoon? >> amy adams. >> i'm do amy adams. >> when you have power, people will always try to take it from you. >> let's go with reese witherspoon. >> hello, patriots. >> i'm going to have to go with him. i don't know either, bro. >> you got it. reese witherspoon.
7:44 pm
>> john witherspoon is -- he's the only clergyman to sign the declaration of independence. how are you celebrate something. >> i'm going to be with my children and we're going to be somewhere. >> your a star spangled girl right now. >> laura: oh, my gosh. >> you're or fourth of july. i wish we could put a historical panorama there. >> laura: that is disturbing. i don't know. raymond tells me i have to rap. all right. thank you. despite a win for gun owners at the court last week, leftist leaders are doing their best to strip them of their constitutional rights. we have more from new yorkle kathy hochul. stay there.
7:45 pm
7:46 pm
7:47 pm
7:48 pm
7:49 pm
>> laura: the 29 republicans in congress, the ones that helped the democrats pass the gun safety bills have assured people that nobody is coming for their guns or strip their rights. now two incidents have us doubting them. the personal information of
7:50 pm
every californian that applied for a conceal carry since 2011 was accidentally leaked by a liberal attorney and then just yesterday, new york governor kathy hochul engaged in this exchange. >> you have the number to show that conceal permit owners are committing crimes? >> i don't needs. i don't have to have a data point. all i know is i have a responsibility to the people of this state to have sensible gun safety laws. ? a responsibility of the people of the state not to have numbers. here's lauren boebert. congress woman, you can't even make up the stupidity of kathy hochul who is up for re-election. if new york votes for that, i don't have words. >> right. i think my constituents have a very healthy distrust of big government. that's why. we have california liberals
7:51 pm
legging personal information, leaking personal information of gun owners and then you have this new york governor who is saying we don't need data. it's the pesky permit holders that are new york's problems. this is why we do not trust big government. and this is why we need to put a stop to it happening. >> laura: fox news digital compiled fbi data from 2019 detailing murders and gun murders. those with higher gun ownership had similar rates with strict gun control. why is the left so fixated on this narrative? >> they hate firearms and gun owners and hate our rights. so they want to paint this other picture that this is dangerous and this is what we need to go after. we know the gun-free zones are the deadly zones. it's a soft target for all of our community members, for our children. the leaking of this data is an absolute target, very dangerous
7:52 pm
on firearm owners. this is why i'm on legislation with michael cloud to make sure that the atf doesn't have a registry. they have over a billion names. we're making sure it ends. >> laura: republicans have to be on that. your old pal -- does he cry a lot in adam kinzinger, he took shots at you over the separation of church and state. he said there's no different between your comments and the taliban. we have to oppose the christian taliban. i say this as a christian. are you now or have you ever been a member of the taliban? >> goodness. no, no, i have not. little adam, he's retiring. america does not like him. he cannot win re-election. he would not win re-election for dog catcher. adam won't be our prop anymore. i have bigger problems protecting the rights of my constituents. i honor the lord and praise god
7:53 pm
with all that i have. but i'm not going to -- >> laura: you don't have a christianity litmus test however for legislation, which is what he's referencing. >> adam is irrelevant. he's proving that he's a democrat with his january 6th unselect committee. on his way out the door, he wants to say he supports gun control. to put that nail in the coffin that says i am not for this. >> laura: great to see you. the ronald reagan library might have lost its way but the president they honor never did. the last bite is next.
