eastern, independence say special. we are going to have fireworks from the nation's capital and emily greenwood among the musical guests. excited for the fourth? >> i'm so excited for the fourth. everyone will be watching it. it's going to be incredible. >> thanks, everyone. here is "america reports." happy 4th of july. >> americans are set to kick off july 4th celebrations very soon but flags, fireworks, food, fuel, all of it costing a whole lot more. could sky high inflation be at least part of the reason americans are largely feeling down on america this weekend? >> we'll break down brand-new fox new polls on the state of the country and get reaction from former u.s. ambassador to the united nations nikki haley, just moments away. >> gillian: chaos at america's airports. flight cancellations, delays,
10:01 am
out of control ahead of the july 4th weekend. rich, great to be with you. >> wonderful to be with you, i'm in for john roberts, rich edson. millions are expected to travel for the holiday. aaa predicts 3.5 million will fly, but staffing shortage, pricey fares, and some pilots threatening to strike causing turbulence for the friendly skies. >> gillian: thousands are being canceled, delayed, experts are fearing an influx of new holiday travelers starting today is set to make matters even worse. listen. >> all of it is coming to a head, we are seeing the cancellations. we just need more people to work in the industry both as air traffic controllers, pilots, you know, flight attendants, all of that. all in short supply and they can only staff so many planes. >> gillian: casey stegall is tracking the travel nightmare from dallas-fort worth international. >> hi, good to see you.
10:02 am
a little turned around, i should be wearing my winter coat, usually when we are standing at the airport doing the holiday travel stories it's around thanksgiving, not really the 4th of july but aaa as you were saying predicts this 4th of july is expected to be the second busiest for travel since the year 2000, if you can believe that, with some 48 million americans expected to get out and about over the next several days. for air, it is three and a half million. the projection, a little higher versus last year. only time will tell whether those holiday passengers will further bog down the airports and airlines, already i can tell you that more than 900 flight delays and more than 240 cancellations are being reported in the u.s. from flight aware, so cue the long lines, waits and frustration. >> i do get stressed sometimes,
10:03 am
especially when the airport looks like this. it's actually pretty packed right now. >> if we could just get there, the flight on american was delayed because of crew, so we are going to miss our connection. >> now major unions representing airline workers say at least 15% of the flight carriers originally planned for june through august had to be dropped because there isn't enough staff to operate those planes. so, to recap, more passengers, fewer flights, fewer workers, there are bound to be some fireworks of a different kind at some of the airports this weekend. back to you. >> gillian: thanks so much. rich. >> president biden is meeting with seven democratic governors to discuss their response to the last week supreme court ruling overturning roe versus wade,
10:04 am
series of setbacks dealt to the democrat agenda. mark meredith is live at the white house. the president is likely to talk about scotus between now and november. >> seeing the issues decided by the court, whether about abortion, immigration or the environment, likely key to democrats as they try to rally the base, as you mentioned at this hour, we believe happening right now, the president meeting with a number of democratic governors, meeting happening virtually meeting with the governors in new york, north carolina, new mexico, colorado, expected to discuss ways the states can ensure women's access to abortion. also looking to see if the president has any new words to say when it comes to the supreme court after he said this on thursday. >> the one thing that has been destabilizing is the outrageous behavior of the supreme court of the united states on over ruling not only roe v. wade, but a right to privacy.
10:05 am
we have been a leader and it is a mistake in my view for the supreme court to do what it did. >> the president's new war of words with the supreme court has not gone unnoticed by republicans who are now criticizing president biden for this rhetoric against another branch of government. >> the fact that he would go while on foreign soil and attack the supreme court of the united states to undermine it and to delegitimize it. i've never seen anything like that. >> and change senate rules for congress to pass a national abortion rights bill, the democrats don't have the votes to basically rein in the filibuster, rich, we know the president will be heading to camp david for the holiday and hitting the road next week, not to talk about abortion but ohio to talk about the economy. rich. >> mark, thanks very much.
10:06 am
gillian, this is an issue democrats right now, it's a tough re-election, a tough midterm season for them. they are thinking maybe they can use roe versus wade, depends how they play it in congress. >> and if the administration aligns behind messaging, so far we are seeing different people on different pages. vice president harris and the press secretary, the most recent two cabinet officials to clash, or offer different guidance what the plan is for abortion on federal lands, they have to get their ducks in a row. we'll have byron york in a few minutes. millions of americans are set to celebrate america this independence day, but a new study finds this year in particular a lot of americans just are not feeling the holiday spirit. we have brand-new fox polling that shows just 39% of all americans are proud of where the country is today. that's down 12 points from 2017
10:07 am
and a whopping 30 points since 2011. the last series of polls. let's bring in nikki haley, former u.s. ambassador to the united nations for president trump. ambassador, it's the holiday weekend, normally a time for celebration, a lot of patriotism, a lot of pride, this breaks down some numbers by political affiliation. majority of republicans and independents, and nearly half the democrats are feeling dissatisfied with the country. what gives? >> well, i mean, you know, look at the fact when they go to the gas station they pay more and the grocery store, how they feed their families. the average american family is paying $6,000 more this year than last year and i can tell you when michael and i were raising our small kids, if we had to pay that, the place we got that from was a credit card. and interest rates are going up, so a lot of american families
10:08 am
are feeling that. but this national self-loathing happening across this country is extremely harmful and we've got to go back to remember who we are, what we are, and why this matters, and biden has stomped all over it, but that's the reason we are fighting to make sure we turn the tide, make sure we fix this. we want people to be proud of our country again. my husband is a combat veteran, he fought for this country, he sacrificed for this country with so many men and women because we have the best country in the world but we have to act like it and start winning again and we have to start immediately. >> are you surprised that less than half of the polled democrats said they were dissatisfied? given the eruption of sentiment on the left in the wake of supreme court rules that have not cut their way over the last couple months, i would guess that number would be even higher. >> i'll tell you, we are all
10:09 am
over the country supporting candidates and the number one issue we hear from families is definitely the inflation and the economy. the second is border, third is crime and the fourth is education and abortion and guns come after that. people don't have the luxury of politics right now. all they want is to see people fighting for them and see people getting to work for them. and when we talk about winning the majority of the house and the senate, 50% of our issue is making sure that we win the majority, so more important 50% is proving we deserve to be there when we win, getting the work right away, making sure we are showing solutions, results for american families. that's how you will improve the morale of america, strengthen the spine of america and start to win again. >> what's your message for those conservatives who are unhappy with the direction president
10:10 am
biden is steering the white house? why is there still a lot of reason for them to feel proud of and good about being american? >> well, look, when i was at the united nations i can tell you we had, you know, many countries that wanted to hate on america. but in the quiet rooms of those, of that building they would talk about how many they envied america, loved that we had freedom of speech, freedom of religion, do whatever we wanted to be without government getting in the way. my parents came here legally from india. they put in the time, they put in the price, they are just appalled by what's happening in our country and you find that most local immigrants are more patriotic these days than most americans and we've got to shift the tide on that. we have to understand when i was at the united nations, when we spoke the world listened. what we did, the world wanted. we have to get back to what that feeling is because we are the

office, and two, stop reckless spending to get inflation under control. >> republicans, even if they take control of the house or the senate, don't have the white house, how can republicans work with democrats to try to find a bipartisan way forward to deal with this? >> two key things we can do, as i said. i think we need to dramatically change course on american emergency policy. hold the biden administration accountable, killed the keystone pipeline, then recently the biden administration made a decision not to lease new oil and well for oil in the gulf of mexico, and in alaska, we have to hold this administration accountable and release american energy. and two, if we fire nancy pelosi once and for all, we'll have control of the purse strings and we have an opportunity to truly curtail this reckless spending that we have seen under one party democratic control.
10:23 am
>> do you think there's a way forward here where in a compromised sense, does not seem to happen very often on capitol hill, much less than it used to, that democrats could get more funding for green energy, republicans can get more drilling for leases, and everyone is happy and goes home? >> i don't know we will have the moment you reference there, but i think we need an all the above energy approach here in the united states of america. that includes -- that includes solar, it's going to include nuclear as well, but the one thing that we can do to turn the spigot on quickly is domestic production of oil and natural gas, and if they suffer and vote in november, democrats are no longer going to be able to keep their head in the sand and finally have to look up and realize we have to lower energy prices so american families, if you are driving to the beach or the lake this 4th of july

10:34 am
anything? >> well, certainly the action has been spun in a way that is politically popular at home for him, so i think he's pleased by that development. the fact of the matter is, he's really had to reduce his goals quite significantly. i think the main problem we face, though, is that he is continuing to sell gas and oil, both in europe and to china, so he can keep funding this thing. that is something we have to take a very hard look at and figure out how we can cut that off. >> the key question, at least for lawmakers here at home in america right now, is how are we going to keep finding this. take a listen to the president overseas yesterday. >> we are going to support ukraine as long as it takes. look at the impact that the war on ukraine has had on russia. they have had to reneg on the national debt, lost 15 years of
