an attack that would last hours. at least four other officers and a civilian were hurt before police took stores into custody. >> former d.c. homicide detective ted williams will join us and moments on the rise of violent crime across the nation. but first to charles watson with more on the kentucky tragedy hi charles. >> hi alicia. the subject in this case lance stores was arraigned on friday when he pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of murder of a police officer following the deadly shootout with officers in allen, kentucky on late thursday night. the franklin county sheriff categorized an ambush and said the four officers were initially responded to the scene had no chance as they approach stores home to serve a warrant and relate to domestic abuse for the 49-year-old suspect almost immediately get began firing hundreds of rounds at officers for multiple positions inside of

on friday kentucky governor andy bechard called the officers at death's quote tragic news. he went on to say he and the first lady are praying for the family of those lost. those injured in the entire allen community. these heroes sacrificed everything to protect our people. we are told the four officers who were wounded at last check were in stable condition. kentucky state police say they are taken the lead on this investigation. they consider it up and back active investigation is a tough time for police in this country, alicia. >> aptly charles watson thank you. >> a new york city police have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a young mother who was pushing her three month old baby in a stroller wednesday night. mace 82-year-old isaac fled the scene on manhattan's upper east side. police accused of shooting 20-year-old johnson in the back of the head at point-blank read.

execution of police officers. and just think this is a fourth of july weekend where we celebrate our independence. and in kentucky now and in this country we are grieving the loss of these officers. not only in kentucky but also the one that you mentioned there in chicago. alicia: let's put some numbers up here. fox news did an analysis of the six major cities that have violent crimes on the rise but we can show this right there. nashville, baltimore, los angeles, near city, philadelphia, washington. folks see these numbers. they feel it, they see it in their cities. there is just a sense of being out of control. things are out of control. so on one hand you have people who feel like there's nothing they can do. it is such an incredibly difficult time to be a police officer right now. it is an incredibly hard time to recruit future officers isn't it? the morale on police departments all over this country are unfortunately are low.

because unfortunately in america right now. police officers are looked upon in the lowest of self-esteem. that is the tragedy. these men and women are out there trying to serve and protect these communities. we are at a disadvantage here. but we are going to have to do, alicia, is un- handcuffed police officers and let them go into these communities and do the jobs that they want to do. and that is to serve and protect their community. alicia: to some the brazen natures of these crimes we are seeing, also seems to be on the rise. people doing things and committing crimes. violent crimes in broad day they without a concern other people will see them, nothing. it's getting pretty bad. >> it is. it's like they don't give a damn. all we have to do unfortunately if you want to look at bad police officers, alicia, just

look at uvalde, texas were 19 children their babies crying for help. and the use of police officers that were out there did nothing to help these 19 babies in those two teachers that were killed there in uvalde. alicia: we see the uvalde police chief announced he will in fact resign. your thoughts on the resignation? >> alicia, this is a police chief is an embarrassment. he should not only resign from the city council but i believe you should reside from the police department itself. he was a chief of police. he was on the scene. he could have gone in and possibly saved quite a few lives. he chose not too. he set up a barricade there. and they just sat around while

they want to see their friends. they do not want to miss the fun. and this with the fourth of july on a monday that is setting up a three day weekend for a lot of people. aaa predicts nearly 48 million people will travel at least 50 miles or more from home. with the vast majority 42 million, driving. that is a new record. part of the reason, folks see what's happening at those airports and they are saying no thanks. travel experts say many americans are weighing the pros and cons of flying and deciding even a long haul road trip is just less hassle. books are still dealing with a lot of shortages. a lot of that residual from the pandemic era. so that could play into people's decision-making whether to choose to fly or drive to their destination. i think a lot of people have really taken that into consideration. they are probably evaluating a four hour drive is an easier route to take than possibly been

how much is government based on how much is the mess of bringing this all back online for most of covid shut down a few months ago progressive in their link they don't think the economy will shut down to the skillet there that a government coming and making people shut down. i think we would've found smarter ways to approach the coronavirus but we are now there are many people trying to do things early on that would've been far more effective than lockdowns and masking. those were often prohibited by the fda. we got it all backwards but you have to look at what they did on that in first and foremost. and then couple that with how they responded which is pretty much just doing the exact opposite of what you actually what to do if you wanted to make sure we did not get inflation. it is not it's unpredictable. their people all the way back at the beginning of the pandemic that were saying this is going to lead to inflation. tomas it waving the red flag when start doing all the stimulus spending. we knew this is where this would go. you have to recognize at this point these are policy choices. both people government right now
