homeland security secretary is blaming the migrants themselves for being trapped and dying. >> oh, boy, okay. but first record gas prices putting a damper on 4th of july travel. the president instead of taking responsibility has got a brand-new target, gas stations. biden tweeted, quote, my message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple. this is a time of war and global peril. bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you're paying for the product and do it now. washington post owner and billionaire businessman jeff bezos isn't buying it, though, tweeting, quote, ouch. inflation is far too important a problem for the white house to keep making statements like this. it is either straight up misdirection or deep misunderstanding of the basic market dynamics. the white house is coming to

biden's defense. >> anybody that knows president biden knows he's plain spoken, and he tells exactly what he's thinking, and in terms that everybody can understand. so i think we obviously take great exception that the idea that this is somehow misdirection. the president is speaking honestly with the american people about what he's trying to do the bring prices down. he was honest before the invasion, the fact that it would not be cost free, certainly not cost free to president putin, but wouldn't be cost free to the american people to stand up for democracy, to stand up for ukraine's ability to -- >> bezos may have biden's back, but -- i'm sorry, he may blast biden, but it's china that has biden's back. china state media tweeted he's finally realized that capitalism is all about exploitation. he didn't believe this before. okay, guys, i don't even know where to start on this one. >> everywhere. everywhere. >> so president biden likes to blame putin for the gas prices. now he's blaming the gas station

owners, but correct me if i'm wrong, this is a president who on the campaign trail said he was going to put the fossil fuel industry out of business, day one of his presidency. he shut down production of the keystone pipeline, and then he went on to limit permits around the country. so now he wants to blame the gas stations, but doesn't he bear some of this responsibility? leo, i will start with you. >> please, thank you. thank you. yes, he does. it's insulting to all of us and to america. he's dishonest. he's not taking credit for his failures. he shut down the keystone pipeline. he has basically destroyed the economy because he sold his soul to become president to the progressive left. he's doubled down on punishing americans at all costs. he's not suffering, but the american people are suffering. he put the american people last. he put the democratic party first. that's why we're suffering. >> uh-huh, okay, and, you know,

in his message, he's asking as if gas station owners, you know, have the leeway to bring down prices, but really we know that a lot of this has to do with crude oil prices. that's what sets the prices at the pump overall. so tommy, really, if the president really wanted to do something, what more could he do? >> let's just imagine for a moment that gas prices weren't already soaring before ukraine and russia and that whole debacle. let's just pretend that was true, that was the case. for the moment. if this president was any bit of a leader whatsoever what he would have done is listen, now we're facing this global issue, ukraine, russia, prices are going to go up, so i know i said i was going to shut down the keystone pipeline, i know i was going to put the fossil industry out of business, because what i'm going to do because i care about the american people is i'm going to reverse course for a

while, i'm going to reopen the keystone pipeline because i'm going to be a true leader for the american people. he won't do that. he blames the airlines, the gas station owners. pretty soon he will blame the farmers and ranch owners >> he's already blaming them. he talks about the cattle, beef prices. the guy tried to tell me what a great partner the taliban is six months ago to tell me the quick trip is the reason i can't afford anymore or gas. jeff bezos is right, this is an inflationary problem, not a gas problem. when you lose somebody who is in charge of your loudest advocates, you are doing something wrong. i'm not an economist but i don't need to be to see china talking about capitalism is a red flag. biden got what he promised. he said he was going to put the squeeze on oil and gas market. he did it. he keep investment out of it.

that's joe biden being plain spoken. come on. >> you brought up a good point i think everybody that's immigrated to this country from nations like cuba, venezuela, when you start hearing china a communist nation praise our president, it makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. when you talk to people who are fled those countries like cuba or venezuela, what they will tell you it started with price controls. it started the the government saying private industry is your enemy. the government will solve your problems. look around. who is promising to solve our problems with more government? joe biden and joe biden's teleprompter. >> vice president kamala harris is also weighing in on gas prices. let's take a listen to what she had to say. >> what we need to do domestically, what we need to do bring down the cost of gas; right? right? >> i've seen a meme the other day that says me googling online how to make gas at home. okay? >> oh, don't do that. don't do that.

and on the attack mode, and i don't know if she's choosing not to do that for the biden administration, or if they are not letting her do it, but by her not filling that role for the biden administration, she's rendered ineffective, and we already see how ineffective the biden team is at messaging, no good messaging coming when she's not being on the attack against their opposition. she should be out there attacking their opposition, letting biden be that, you know, uncle joe figure he's supposed to be, and their communications team is the greatest failure since whatever the latest war is they've screwed up. >> you know, tommy, the average american is really the one getting hurt here because, you know, it is not like people are getting paid extra to keep up with these gas prices. >> it seems as though they don't care. >> yeah. >> when the american people hear them continuing to blame everybody but themselves and not doing anything to change course, they could change course. they could do something. they could at least make the effort. but they're not. it's the finger pointing blame game, and that should be a slap in the face and insult to every american on both sides of the political divide because we all have to fill up.

unrest why would you want to have a party celebrating any of it? oh, boy, here's what i wonder, though, anita, who writes these e-mails? is it one disgruntled employee? this is florida. it is a great conservative state for the most part, a red state. who is tweeting or e-mailing as a person that is representing the entire city of orlando that clearly hates the nation? >> someone who needs an editor, that's who sent this e-mail out. the rest of it, there's a little part of it that we didn't read. it says america is in strife right now, but you know what? we already bought the fireworks. i mean, honestly, doesn't this sound like a 10-year-old kid? it's so juvenile. and look, we understand that not everybody agrees with the decision that the supreme court made to overturn roe w. v wade -- roe versus wade, but for these people to say we don't live in a free country, that's

not just true. where is it more free than the united states of america? >> that's why people were flocking here. you're spot on. i think you're a very effective small percentage of people who make a lot of noise on social media. they make this assumption that people aren't happy being in this country. the numbers don't indicate that. this country is celebrating a historic day tomorrow, our birthday, and people are flocking here. we're a nation of laws. roe v. wade case was settled correctly by our system of government and checks and balances. people are disappointed. okay fine. that's the beauty of democracy >> the city of orlando had an apology. they sincerely regret the negative impact our words have had on some in our community. we understand these words offended some of our residents which is not our intent. we take pride in celebrating the 4th of july to express our gratitude to men and women and honor the country we live in. joey, is that for you, as a veteran, someone who loves your country, is that apology really cutting it? >> i wore some tennis shoes.

i should have put my rubber boots on because that's getting deep; right? right? i mean come on. who wrote the original e-mail? i can almost tell you what year they were born in. they have a lot of student loan debt. i can tell you a lot about them about reading that e-mail. progressive liberalism is rooted, i mean rooted in grievance. thankfully conservativism is rooted in responsibility. there's a saying that says if you are under 30 and you're conservative, you're heartless. but if you're over 30 and you're progressive or liberal, you are probably broke. >> we are all broke right now, joey. >> fair enough. the point there is number one, there's a spot for everybody. as life goes on, our parties change and how we see things change. there used to be a time where we could appreciate about that about one another. i don't expect a 25-year-old with student loan debt to see the world the way i do. they have 11 years of going and figuring it out that i have on them. i expect they may arrive at a different place. when we talk about freedom, i saw a graphic the other day about abortion, and it showed

the world in a color map. it said all the countries in blue have more access to abortion than we do. guess who is in blue? china. think about what the freedom of abortion looks like in china. it looks like the men in your life and the government in your life telling you you will willfully get an abortion because this was supposed to be a boy, and it is going to be a girl, and that doesn't work out for the plan we have for your family. the idea that we're not free in a country where we really don't know where this will end up. every single one of these state laws will be contested, and most importantly, millions of people will go on social media and complain about it. that's the key. the 1st amendment is the largest freedom we have because that's where the beginning of all change starts. >> they tweeted about it. some on the left were not happy about their mood this year. they want to burn the country to the ground. as a little treat, more to come. this independence day remember that trump has taken yours away, america. trump. biden is the president, leo. the tweets go on. leo, i understand there are liberals out there that are

secretary. >> i've been around long enough to know that nothing is ever totally safe. but remember we haven't been able to pass the equal rights amendment. this country has a way to go, but certainly, i don't believe this decision by this court in dobbs is going to stand long. this is just not america. >> after weeks of protests outside the homes of supreme court justices, the supreme court marshal is calling on the governors of virginia and maryland to quote enforce state law that prohibits picketing outside of the homes of justices, but senator mike lee says it's actually a federal law that isn't being enforced. >> it is beyond my ability to understand why it is that merrick garland and his department of justice hasn't investigated and prosecuted these crimes. i hereby call on them to do so. if they are unwilling to do that, they are really imperilling or entire system of government. they need to be held accountable. >> anita, so the supreme court marshal just passing the buck? is that what's happening here?

>> it is really hard to say because, you know, as we heard from senator mike lee, there is a federal law that says picketing outside the homes of supreme court justices with the intent of trying to influence their decision is a crime. it is a crime. and yet, we don't see anybody at the justice department doing anything. so i'm not sure, but you would think that the state governors, two republicans, right, leo? >> yes. >> that they would try to do something. i don't know what they are doing with this letter. i think they said they haven't received it yet. >> this situation with what's happening in florida, governor desantis would look for a state law to enforce this. where if trump was in office, he would do something immediately. you wouldn't have these protests. let me get to that point. javier besear serra -- becerra, i'm a pretty good lawyer, he's lying. the only way the case gets reversed is by a supreme court decision or constitutional

amendment. this is a democratic administration just lying. it's not going to stand. it will stand, javier, and you know that. stop lying. >> i want to read some quotes from the virginia maryland governors here. let me get to youngkin first. the governor welcomes marshal of the supreme court's request for fairfax county to enforce state law as they are the primary enforcement authority for the state statute. the attorney general of the u.s. should do his job by enforcing the much more robust federal law. all right. moving on to maryland governor hogan, he says in light of the continued refusal by multiple federal entities to act, the governor has directed maryland state police to further review enforcement options that respect the 1st amendment and the constitution, and so when you read these two quotes or theses two quotes, i -- or see these two quotes, it is almost like the game of clue, who did what? >> a lot of big words meant to confuse people and not to take a side. i think both of these governors, they know that -- at least in

youngkin's case, i think that it could have gone either way in that election. he's happy to have been elected so i think he's towing the line. he's walking on egg shells. he doesn't want to be definitive one way or the other. if he says we're going do something here, he's worried about losing the voters. >> you're talk about hogan? >> i'm talking about youngkin. both of them are towing the line. they don't want to upset the swing voters those democrats that maybe voted for them. wouldn't it be nice if the department of justice would treat these protesters out there intimidating like they did parents at school board meetings who didn't want their children to be eternally masked and have biological male and female bathrooms, wouldn't that have been a day? >> i remember years ago under the trump administration when they really got upset when they thought trump was bringing partisanship into the doj. >> yeah >> have we ever seen anything more partisan than what's happening now with protecting the supreme court from the doj?

>> it strikes me so odd that protecting any supreme court justice is controversial, that saying that hey, you can't protest outside of their house. you can't threaten them. you can't be out there making noise at all hours around the clock. why is that controversial? >> i don't know that it is unless you're talking partisan politics. leo, let's talk about this for a second >> okay. >> usually when we have a conversation about federal law and state law, and which one trumps the other, it's usually when they are in opposition to each other. these are two state laws and a federal law that are absolutely in sync with one another. but the doj is saying we would rather have you do it. >> you are talking about federal official justices so the first act should be from the department of justice. that should be the first act. i think the state has a right to defer to them, but tommy's spot on. these two governors are towing the line politically. they are not doing what's in the best interest, protect the justices. i will tell you right now, i said this yesterday, the democrats will turn their back

on issues of protesting and crime if it serves their purpose. these protesters are serving the democratic party's purpose of being upset with this ruling. that's all they are doing. >> tommy, back to becerra's comment about how he's not sure this law will stand, you know, and maybe it is because it's not the issue i'm most passionate about, it is one that i understand a little bit of both sides. i'm a pro-life guy in theory, but when you start telling me certain instances, i understand where you're coming from. i guess i'm a little bit undecided in some cases >> it is a gray area. >> when you talk about abortion, this interpretation about supreme court is much about the letter of the law than the motion of the issue -- than the emotion of the issue, is it not? >> it is about states rights. on the republican side we would do well to remind people of that. i think people would be far less upset with the supreme court that if they understood this kicks it back to the states. all who live in california they want abortions on demand, they are still going to have that.

♪ ♪ >> welcome back to the big sunday show. we are celebrating the meaning of service on this july 4th weekend. to mark the holiday, joey reunites with two fellow marines he was deployed with more than a decade ago. >> it was 12 years ago we were all deployed together in afghanistan. what is it like to keep doing the job today knowing the sacrifice paid by your brothers and sisters back then? >> why do the guys do what they did? you already touched on that, like what made you want to be a bomb tech? at some point, you do it because you're doing it for your country; right? you're signing up for the marine corps. you want to do great things for america. at some point, there's a transition there that is like i'm now doing this for the guy on my left and my right and my team. >> wow, joey. what was that like to reunite with those two guys?

i'm sure it was very emotional and very special to sit down and talk to them. >> you know, i have made the trek out to first company, which is the name of that unit, and the military works in a hierarchy. usually a company is a part of a bigger unit. the eod program is so small that first company is kind of a stand-alone unit of less than 100 marines that provide eod support for all ground operations for 1st marine division which is basically the west coast marines, so that one company when i was in about 80 marines would handle the responsibility of dod work for marine corps in afghanistan for a whole year. >> wow. >> so we would divide in half, spend about 30, 40 of us at a time and change over. the officer in charge there, a bald headed guy in the middle, he was a brand new warrant officer and i was a brand new sergeant. matt jackson the other guy there was a crusty sergeant. we all deployed together. we come back years later. cheatham is about to be charge of the marine corps.

and matt jackson is running a program that i can't even talk about. it is so new and sophisticated as a master sergeant. to see those guys succeed in their job and know how hard they worked. i mean, hundreds of ieds they have taken apart with their bare hands, dozens of deployments. they are so humble. all it means to them is they get to serve their country. matt is a master sergeant. he will never get paid like an officer will much less the work he's doing to write a program for the marine corps. he spent 20 years doing it. these men are two of dozens if not hundreds i got to serve alongside, be at the bottom of the pyramid to support them, be mentored by them and tell a little bit of their story which i consider to be the most dangerous job in the military. brings tears to my eyes. that's how proud i am. >> what's the morale like now when you re unite with these gentlemen, and they see the landscape of our country, the landscape of the world, are they optimistic, negative, what's the feeling? >> they are still active duty.

i'm not going to get into too much of what their personal thoughts are. what i will tell you is, any time you come back from war and war ends, it gets tougher because the bigger military in this case the big marine corps they get to worry about crossing the t's and dotting the i's stuff, is your body fat percentage in line anymore? are your uniforms nice and tucked away? are you standing in duty? things that are important in garrison but when you are fighting a war, especially when there's not enough of you so you are going every 12 months, it is hard to be on your back about these little nuanced things. when they come back in and they are worried about those things again, hey i just spent my whole year fighting a war and now you're worried about if my hair cut is proper? it is a tough transition for all of them, not just dod but any combat arms because they carried such a burden on their shoulders of going to funerals, memorials and training for the next deployment, and now it is like -- [inaudible]. so it is harder to get into that

mentality. thankfully for their job, the operational side of it is going to expand. there's still a lot going on that they have to be forward deployed on so they are very much focused on that. >> how do they seem balanced when they come back, the family support they have, the military is their family, but what about the outside forces that provide support, can you explain that? >> it is incredibly difficult on families especially in a job where you take bombs apart for a living. when they come back, they do i think thises like skydive and -- they do things like skydive and race cars, things like that. the marine corps, we are proud marines. the marine corps is a community. the dod field is an even smaller community. talking about the extended marine corps, we have a dog named chesty named after chesty fuller, that's our mascot an english bulldog. he's going to be on "fox & friends" tomorrow morning. this is chesty 16. he's about to replace chesty 15. that's our mascot, english

first annual parade, and dogs came from all over to participate. they were awarded best in show, most patriotic, most creative, and best theme. here's a look at some of that action. most creative went to a 14-year-old dog named mr. beasley. he had uncle sam riding on his back. i'm sure chesty could boar rehim next year. -- borrow him next year. a husky travelling with a bald eagle won best of show. used to people being decked out in their red white and blue, but it was nice to see the four-legged friends also showing their patriotism. that's been a theme here at harbor fest. everyone is showing that patriotism with traditions like the commanding officer of the uss constitution [inaudible]. and local restaurants sharing their food with everyone in attendance. you know, anita, with an expected 2 million people here, it's just been really great. i think patriotism has been key and just celebrating their freedom.
