firing up the divisive rhetoric instead of the grill. why would you ever do that? bashing america on the day meant to celebrate our freedom. although patriotism has been taking a real hit over the last decade. check out this poll. it is shocking. only 39% of those surveyed said that they were proud of the country while 56% said they were not. that is a pretty dramatic shift from how things were back in 2011. this year, the left anger over the supreme court's decision on abortion seems to be fueling things. in arizona, the democratic party hosted this and deleted the tweet promoting a woman's march that was called f the fourth telling fox out while posting the graphic was a mistake, it still supports the event. not taking a back. the orlando that he council sparked fury with this email

not good enough. this is also when you are looking at polls that patriotism has gone down. in a certain way, that's a good sign. americans don't like the mood. they do not like what has happen politically. they don't like policies or being on their needs. they do not like not being able to find baby formula, or having loved one sent back to the middle east. they don't like us making nice with venezuela and iran. it is important that we see those numbers because americans are united. there some on the far left who want more misery like the people who are saying f the fourth and all of that. but that is their nature. they are miserable and it is projection. they want everyone else to be miserable and americans are not with that. we are more positive and we are patriotic. this country is worth fighting for as we all know and you in particular know especially. the military knows this. what made the country and the

i don't think that they hate the country. i think they like the attention and it has become a counterculture thing to hate america and they think if they screamed at concerts it will rile people up. i don't think people hate the country because they're still here. i think it makes them feel like they have done something to profess their hatred of it and it makes them feel hip and cool and unfortunately that is we've popularized in modern culture and we need to stop it. we need to change the narrative. that's where i think they are. it is more about the self-indulgence and the hatred of the country. >> kayleigh: to your point, there is a man who plays in the band green day and let's listen to his love of america. it's a quote. i won't read the quote verbatim. abortion is also not a right just like most plays in the united states. in fact, abortion is only not criminal in the first 30 days of fetal life and even then there is a 70 week period. even people who want to get an abortion in italy, it's hard to come by. he wants to be matted america because that's the image he was to portray. it's what his music is based on an ache at concerts. as tomi mentioned, that's what popular these days. >> kayleigh: we had a thought from wanda sykes that we didn't get to. there's so much heat for the country and challenging whether or not democracy exists, but i believe that we have the greatest country on earth and that loud and vocal minority is indeed a minority. coming up, and new poll that shows that more than 70% of americans do not want the president to run for reelection. that is a large number.

>> kayleigh: we have a fox news alert. we are getting word that had eight illinois fourth of july parade, there was a shooting that erupted. multiple people are feared dead and we have no confirmation on injuries or the number who have perished. hopefully none. our prayers are with the

community. witnesses say that a crowd fled the sound of gunfire and others saw at least five bloody people. they were lying in the streets according to a reporting on foxnews.com. there was another individual under a blanket. this was from the "chicago sun-times." we are just getting word and gathering details about this. you can see the scene just there. once again, this is highland illinois and it evokes the memories, dr. saphier, of the horrific event that took place at a christmas parade taking us back to a holiday parade where it is supposed to be joyous and happy and people are bringing their families. out of nowhere, chaos erupts. what is it like as a first responder, dr. saphier, arriving on it seem like that's were multiple event wooded? >> dr. saphier: when you have a fourth of july parade and there's gatherings and celebrations, there tend to be first responders on scene and case there are emergencies.

unfortunately when there is chaos and you have people running in all different directions and everyone is trying to get the safety, it can make it more difficult for first responders. most of the time when you are getting to that scene, you do not know exactly what's going on. there are various different reports. the biggest thing that you can do is make sure that people are still safe. has the shooter been recognized? is the shooter still there? are people still in danger? it's hard to get to the people who are wounded and need help because you do not want to put the lives and the safety of your first responders on the line if you are not sure that the situation is safe. it takes a lot of communication between police, fire, ambulance, other responders getting a room together. thankfully, our law enforcement is an incredible job doing that. and illinois they've had a lot of deep on the police movement there and they struggled with recruitment. i hope that these worker shortages are not affecting their ability to respond to this potential tragedy. i can tell you that people in

the scene right now are likely doing everything that they can to make sure that anyone who was there, they are now away from the scene, out of potential danger. anyone who is needing medical care, they are probably going to do everything they can to remove them from the situation here at hospitals are likely on alert right now, multiple of them. usually not everyone goes to the same hospital. they will tend to spread it out so hospitals do not become overwhelmed. this is where you see the medical community come together into everything possible to help police, victims, and everyone involved. families coming in. everyone will be calling, people are scared. they want to make sure that their loved one is okay. i'm sure that the police are doing everything they can to communicate their best and keep your family safe at home if you can. don't be out on the streets in this area. if you knew someone was at the parade, do your best to come to kate with them. if you are unable to get a hold of them, make sure you report that to law enforcement.

>> kayleigh: the mayor tweeted this, "police are responding to an incident and downtown highland park. please avoid downtown highland park, more information will be shared as it becomes available." i'm looking at video here, tammy, and you can see a marching band. out of nowhere, you see people running. yesterday i went to a fourth of july event at our local community and you saw family streaming and with their picnic baskets and family so happy and joyous. something strikes. tragedy strikes out of nowhere and i cannot imagine what highland park is going through at the moment. >> tammy: for many, this is the first fourth of july that people could go out and enjoy many people together because of covid. it is something to enjoy with the family clearly celebrating the country. but it is also, because of the history of terrorism and the rhetoric in the country, no doubt with every parade there

will be security, extra security, and as you noted, you will be prepared with extra medical assistance. we salute the boston marathon. any major event that will get national attention. it's what these people are looking for. we don't with the perpetrator is and i think there's some report -- i don't think we've confirmed that it's a convicted felon, but we will learn more about the individual. in the aftermath, we are going to find out what failed. because something dead. highland park is a town of about 30,000 people and just north of chicago, 25 miles north of chicago in lake county illinois which is where my mother was born. it is clearly a beautiful day, but i think that we see here in new york, people in new jersey, all around this area, but around the country. special set ups there for first responders emergency

situations. people are ready for it. there are towns that are going to have to be addressing, once again just like with the waukesha murders that happened at the truck and other shootings in copenhagen. there was a mall shooting in copenhagen yesterday. cities and countries are going to have to address it. we never do because we get back to the political argument that surrounds these things. these are individuals who likely, in this particular case, it likely are known to the police. we've seen that over and over again. as a nation, we have to begin to address the mental health issue. those conversations will continue. this does not mean that we should not enjoy our fourth of july. the classic holiday that we would expect someone to try to strike in this manner and every city's going to have to even more vigilant. >> kayleigh: for those of us now joining, you are looking at highland park, illinois, where a fourth of july parade, there was a shooting that occurred. multiple have been wounded and

that's all that we have at this very moment. joey jones, law enforcement that is there. you try to secure an event like this and it's very difficult in a very open environment. it's a parade. but they've a two-pronged effort immediately. one, saving the victims and responding to the victims and two, finding shooter. no word yet on who the shooter as. he or her or where they might be. the quest to apprehend them, perhaps a manhunt, but no word at the moment. >> joey: no idea who it is her with the motive is and it would be irresponsible to assigned to any one of them, but the people were injured, they're taking care of them. anytime there's a villain, there's a hero and that's with the country's. the first responders, the police officers, they are doing life staining stomach saving steps. i have the breathing and bleeding mixed up, but i haven't been in the marine corps for a while. if something like this happen in front of me, i'll be there to try and help. there are hundreds of thousands and millions of americans who have a little bit of training that will go a long way in the
