the person who hit your daughter was a saudi teenager. the saudi consulate hired a private defense attorney to secure his release on bail. and then apparently driven to a little area where he removed his ankle monitor. if that reporting is accurate. do you know if the president knows about your daughter's case? have you had any interaction with the trump administration or the biden administration on this? >> i have not. i am not aware if they know the specifics of my case, but i know there have been three different bills brought to the senate floor about the classifying saudi information. i think if they are paying attention, they should know. >> todd: i think you raise an important point, you are not political when it comes to issues like this. the democratic senate that brought the bill to the floor,

will be worse as more people travel for a vacation. do you think that is the case? >> unfortunately, that is probably going to be the case. july and august will be a rough couple of months for summer travel. mostly due to thunderstorms and whether that popped up around the country, especially florida. so, it does cause some delays. the problem is, we are short staffed and when you have the delays, that pushes the pilot schedule back. eventually, we end up timing out as people may not know, limited by federal aviation and how much we can be on duty in the daytime. so we get those limits we timeout, and the pilots, but there aren't any replacements. >> carley: that is a big issue there. 121,918 cancellations between

january and june compared to 121,552 for all of 2021. you say the issue is staffing. why is there a shortage of pilots right now? >> well, covid did take a hit on some of us. we took early leaves come early retirement spirit so that is a factor. but a lot of it is due to the fact airlines, we've lost so much money the last couple of years that they tried to schedule us many flights as they could. the problem is that the flights are fine in a perfect situation and no delays, no mechanicals, which is under those numbers. but when you have the maximum amount of flights and run into any kind of problems, you have the timeout issues, not only with pilots, staffing but the ground staff issues too.

airplanes are full, lots of bags. that takes time to build the planes up. in the baggage handlers throwing bags into the airplanes, that takes delays too. so -- >> carley: it is a big sigh, a big mess. when do you think things will go back to normal? >> you know typically december he would airlines tend to draw down their schedules because everybody back to school, vacation is pretty much over. so hopefully, we will see recovery in september and throughout the rest of the year. i will see southwest is the best over the past this past weekend. a rough weekend for airlines. southwest pilot error lanes are flying on their days off and made it happen for our passengers. >> carley: bernie sanders' fired up about this. he is tweeting about it in writing letters to the transportation secretary. he said the airlines are to

blame. taxpayers bailed out airlines to the tune of billions of dollars during the pandemic and now the industry is a mess. do you think he has a point? >> i don't actually. you know, we did get bailouts and much appreciated to the government for that, but an airline cost literally millions of dollars a day during the pandemic. you are flying around with two people on board mpp in the airplanes and the flights had to go. we were losing tons of money. so, it bailed us out, but it did not help our reserves at all. we didn't have extra money hanging around. it kept us flying. but it was necessary. >> carley: absolutely was necessary. the situation is not good right now and maybe everybody should schedule august vacation in september to try to ease the issues at the airport if they can. michael, thank you for joining us. we appreciate it. >> thank you for having me.

actually stopping the illegal immigrants from coming across. we do know that executive order will be very, very powerful and the state of texas will take authority to return these people that are coming across. i think the consequences besides getting sued by the federal government, i think what we will see is illegal aliens in the border and other areas like arizona, california, but overall, we are supportive of those actions. >> carley: list talk about the border wall because president biden with an executive order's first day in office, "it shall be the policy of my administration that no american tax payer dollars be diverted to construct a border wall." this week it was announced biden administration will be finishing a portion of the wall in an area called friendship park, which is between -- it's in california near tijuana. why the change of heart? by this section of the border wall? >> so this section of the

border wall is fairly secure area. in all reality, this part of the border dispensing could be constructed and very insignificant. we would call for biden to actually build the wall in the real sector where there was already 70 miles of wall expended for this area. a much-needed wall. talk about taxpayer dollars, right now taxpayers paying millions of dollars for storing unused border wall laying around. but again in california, it could be pretty insignificant, the california border with this type of illegal activity as you see in texas or arizona. >> carley: and it must be frustrating to see that material lying on the ground already bought and paid for it. because of politics, it is not being used. >> you know, we see it everyday when we go to work. it is being stored close to the
