a lot of it is about inflation which is why think we are at a turning point. i think if we start to see gasoline prices come off a little bit this summer there will be some relief. arthel: they are coming down but i want to stick your point about jobs for doing what to do now is look at the last four months of jobs added to the economy. both are seven or 14000 jobs were added in february. 398,000 added in march, three to 68000 in april, three or 84000 and may. and in june, last month 327,000 jobs were added to the economy page that's good news. if a recession is imminent, explain why higher unemployment would need to balance it out? >> those numbers that you point out are really breathtaking for this a lot of hiring going on. two points i will make one about recession and what about those jobs but let me make the first
11:49 am
one about the jobs for the fact there are so many jobs out there is great. but, what we are bringing home in our paychecks is not going as far as it used too because of inflation the purchasing power of that paycheck is actually falling right now. that's one of the reasons why sentiment is off. in terms of the whole dynamic between jobs and recession it's frankly very puzzling right now but any recession usually see companies laying off workers for it but instead right now they are hiring more and more. so it's got some people scratching their heads think this isn't a recession if companies are hiring more people. one thing that is going on is because baby boomers are what i found a a downturn were output declines, people pull back and spending a little bit. companies don't go out and fire
