zealotry. >> harris: senator thune said the president needs to declare an energy emergency and you've given him examples of why. thank you for being in "focus." thank you for watching. have a blessed weekend. "outnumbered" starts now. >> harris: an act of political violence in upstate new york fortunately turned out okay. for the republican candidates, congressman lee zeldin.
9:01 am
he was giving a speech on bail reform at a campaign stop yesterday when a man jumped on stage with a two-pronged blade and congressman zeldin just explained, it looked like he was going for his throat. zeldin grabbed the man's wrist and blocked him first but the man tried to lunge at him a second time and others had to jump in, including a former veteran at the event to finally put the guy down. here is a closer look at the suspect. remember i told you to coprongs come up at your fingers in there and hard to take away from somebody. if they come for the soft tissue around your esophagus, your throat, he could kill you instantly. thank the good lord that didn't happen and no one else was seriously hurt, let's be thankful for that too. the the congressman to treat this, his words as he tried to stab me a few hours ago were "you're done." several attendees for new york quickly jumped into action and

">> the days of gnomic d.a.'s office and the governor's office -- >> harris: we need more fruit baskets. honestly, this can be something across the country. if there was any issue of in the election where it should be a one issue election, it is this election. literally, the congressman should be campaigning across the state saying, "it is either prime dominic crime in the city to continue or prosperity." that is -- i mean we have a guy

great campaign element for congressman zeldin because he's like, this is what i'm trying to change. a person who is mentally unstable and who fought for the country came after me. god bless the guy who said, you know what, i will get this guy some help. this man served in iraq. he is clearly not well. the government has failed him. but the government is failing citizens and victims of crime by letting people out who are just going to recommit those offenses. >> harris: how about what you just said, because that is a part of the story that a lot of people will miss today, right, this was a veterans event. and they took that guy down and recognized some things about him here that is really interesting. boats were two moments ago. we had on the "the faulkner focus" congressman zeldin talking about what was going on in that mind of the
