>> thumbs down. >> has president of the united states be good for you and your family? >> i don't to -- that one, nope. yes always one. joining me now to react joe concha and laura welcome to the program. it is first time you've been on cross country so thank you so much for joining us. joe i want to go to you first you heard what people have to say not a lot of confidence. it is a simple question where do you fall on it? >> well look at the polls, right lawrence, and me personally, you feel inflation. you feel gas prices you see what's beginning on at the border it is in the a matter of ideology right whether you're a republican or democrat. right now things aren't going well in this country it is something like 80, 85.when you look at polls say that this country is going in the wrong direction. look, hispanics feel

particularly -- in terms of the voting bloc there, that's the largest it's the big etion growing voting bloc that we have here in this country. they are at 19% approval in therms of this president they feel inflation 10% and feel gas prices double what it was when president took office and border is anything but secure and we're giving preview of what will happen in november and laura knows texas 34 saw hillary clinton winning by 33 points in 2016 and mira just won that district going away -- by 8 point so we're talking about a 40 something point sweng swing here and that's why many democrats say that we're headed towards a red tsunami in november like to hear what she has to say but appears to be in that direction at this point. >> what about that? i traveled to middle america i go to urban america and i hear same thing from folks, and i go

to the border you hear same thing and a lot of those border areas are democrats but they are frustrated with what's happening with administration so you have hispanics you have black voters, you've got the moms -- upset. is there trouble for the democrats or do you see the brighter side? >> well, i'll say this. you know, nobody is geng to argue that biden poll numbers are sky high they're not. but here's what i would say gas preeses are falling. you heard gas prices mentioned over and over again and they're falling projected below $had in coming months by october so if republicans are counting on the wins of inflation and gas prices to push them into office, i might ask them to reconsider. and i'll tell you what else is making republican consults clutch their red striped ties. it is the fact that they are sending really interesting and not so select kaingts in senate races in a lot of these other races. you know, doctor oz in pennsylvania king of the

joe. >> lawrence i just look at the past right and you saw jimmy carter he's last democrat one term president voted out of office significantly when ronald reagan ran against him in 1980 and george h. bush when the economy went south then he was one term president as well. the economy decides everything. and look, in terms of gas prices, when you talk to energy analysts, and you look at what's going to happen in october. gas prices are probably going to go back up again and above 5, based on what's beginning on in europe and -- in terms of their embargo against russia they turn up that volume to affect us so when those gas prices go back up again that's not good for the democratic party. overall again, when you talk about the economy stupid and that was the bill clinton line that was james i believe in 1992 that decides everything and when you have inflation you're 10% --

i don't see how democrats regardless of who the candidates are can do very well because overall people will say things are going badly and we want things to go in a different direction regardless of what the party is in power. lawrence: short on time i'll give you final word. >> roe v. wade and repeal of a fundamental right for more than half of the country will galvanize polling swing voters that don't want to see mothers die on operating table because they can't get a procedure that would save their life. looking at those issues, republicans are so extreme that they simply are not doing anything xepght repealing rights that people want and that people deserve. >> we know that a lot of those abortions that are being done aren't on the table. a lot of people get that through the pills across the country still not polling as high lauri but we'll be following that story thank you so much for joining the program now to latest in washington. with an update to one of the biggest stories of the week, the president of the united states health he's contracted covid.

the white house doctors says president symptoms continue to improve, though, he still suffers from sore throat runny nose and cough and body aches and asked by bret baier, watch. >> are you concerned at all about the president's ability to fight off this covid-19 infection? >> well, nothing is 100.guaranteed but everything we're seeing now is indicating that he's having a mild course and, in fact, the good news is that he's already starting to show improvement. he's a person who has generally good health. he's vaccinated, he's doubly boosted. >> grateful that the president is back in good health and we're praying for the president. but with covid back in headlines it sooments like left is pouncing on the opportunity. after more than two years, doctor fauci was asked whether he thought people were taking covid a seriously as they should right now. he said no.

of course, not. he went on to say, quote, in general the public and wishing that this thing was behind us and we're done with it might be being a little bit less attentive to fact that there's still a lot of virus around. [laughter] two year no we're done with it and if this never ending pandemic mentality severely hurting our children lead reverse still with mask mandates in classroom for this fall gite their who are risk toll it's taken on our kids' education. for those students and parents who don't want to wear a mask indoors in school are there any other options for them? >> for the fall -- there are some option it is they can go to our -- school that's online. we don't currently based on today's numbers and anticipate the need for mask in classrooms but i'm going to reserve the right to return this policy if the numbers change the circumstances change and this

severity of the illnesses change. so i hone those leaders listen to these numbers out of san francisco public schools and this is just -- one area. high school readiness, 47.2% that number among african-american students 15% let's go to chronically ab sent 28.4% and again african-american students 63.4%. the bottom line is, we are failing our students especially students of color and unless we start focusing on the pandemic, and the politics we're going keep failing them. they are not equipped to succeed in a mask isn't going to fix that. i want y'all to look at senior fellow american federation for children he's a great friend and guy that's been out front on this. there's level it is to this cory, number one thing is that knew numbers from the pandemic pep and now we have recent numbers showing that the kids

are still suffering yet they're not caving on the politics of this. why not? >> look, i mean two weeks to slow spread turn into two years to flatten a generation of kids it's about time we put kids first and look california they have these failing test score numbers absenteeism it is all a problem. the system itself is a mess. and the california public school budget is about 23,000 dollars per year according to the latest numbers. average private school tuition is only less than $16,000 per student per year on average. why not give the funding directly to the family allow them to choose education providers that best align with their values and give government run schools insennive it to do a better job a win/win scenario and look this has been too long kids going through it too long and trial to fund students not systems. lawrence: let's talk about that cory it was once a period of time where they would say kids

what grew up like me that were poor, didn't have the means -- as they would say. just can't learn they have too much going on in personal life they don't have ability to but now charter schools that pop up all of the different private schools that pop up and same poor kids are going to those schools and they're doing just fine. so is that true, truly argument there that these kids can't learn or because the teachers unions don't care to teach these kids adequately? >> i mean teachers union have held these children hostage for decades and it is about time we finally free every single family from their deprave clutches once and for all and only way to do that is to fund the student directly opposed to the institution and look, it is not the fault of the kids it is the system itself that the geographic monopoly kid zip code determine their future and put an end to this and so many states have. we've seen so much victory in

2021 the year of school choice earlier this month arizona pass most expansive education savings account program in the country good on arizona republicans and doug doocy for doing right thing for families it is about time for every single state to follow their lead and to fund students directly in power every single family to choose this is the gold standard of educational freedom and arizona is now the number one state for parental rights in education. this is the way to do it. >> cory i have a few seconds will have the but do you see a change in the tide? do you see more democrats and more parents wanting to take power back because if they start taking the power back their kids education, i mean we may see an entire different political landscape. >> yeah. parents are seeing through the noise the latest real polling find that supermajority of republicans democrats and independents support school choice and 72% of americans overall supporting school choice, an look the latest poll from the teachers union itself

we're back with fox news alert out of missouri city, texas where police officer is recovering at a hospital after being shot in the face. police say this all started when a carjackings suspect led officers on a chase. he crashed ab reportedly got out of the car with two automatic

weapons. he open it had fire hitting the officer and then police shot the suspect who died at the hospital. the 29-year-old officer is reportedly in stable condition. she's in our thoughts and prayers tonight. now take a look at this. [bleep] oh. drop the gun. [bleep] shots fired. [bleep] are you all right kids? >> all right come on. it's okay. it's okay. so perhaps the most shocking story of the week got body cam footage shows a four-year-old shooting at police officers. it happened at a mcdonald's drive-thru back in february when police were trying to detain the child's father. now, preliminary investigation found that the 27-year-old actually instructed the child to shoot that suspect was eventually charged with child abuse. now, these are shocking incidents shot in flight on just how difficult it is to be a police officer right now.

in this country -- folk chicago know all about that fallen officers join lawmakers to raise awareness about a suicide epidemic from among law enforcement. three officer died by suicide this month. and that tragedy is prompting calls for change once and for all. joining me now so explain one of the people leading charge and former police officer himself, anthony thank you for joining the program. i have to get your reaction before i dive into suicide. what a -- committing crime when your child is in the car. but then you instruct your four-year-old to shoot at cops. are you at a new low here? >> we are. we're at a new low. you're seeing it every day and it's a brazen attitudes on the streets, and we've been saying this for months and years now. better start taking control of their kids and raising them they're sponges for everything we do and he taught him to do in

a situation it is nothing new in chicago our criminals are anywhere between ages of 8 and 19 now. it's a crazy world right now. lawrence: i was in the airport the other day and i ran into your colleague ray monday lopez. and he actually prompted me on this story about the suicides that are happening in chicago. now, this is happening all across the nations where the pressure has become too much for the law enforcement. so you're dealing with two issues you've got the fact that officers are don't want to do job because of risk associated and deem and the pressure is just too much. >> yeah the pressure is too much and here in chicago too the amount of workload on our officers is just astronomic we have officers working 11 day straight and working 23 days straight after that off one more day and then back on 11 days on top of opening story with officers getting shot at we've had 36 officers in last six months shot at or shot in the

city of chicago. if that's not constant pressure on top of not being tiebl take team off to spend with your family that's absolute reason why we wrote a new ordinance give officers ability to decline the forced days, force release of their days off. and give them some time home with their families. >> shouldn't this be an easy thing to do all of the -- men you don't want cops out there if they're not mentally prepared for the job. i mean it's very unfortunate they have to respond to -- sometimes with their weapons drawn to call and then go to traffic stop the next minute. i don't think average day people could do that, right? >> you know, my father was in a job 33 years and before i got on job he said you're never going get called to birthday parties or happy -- home coming where everyone is happy to see you but called to someone's worst day. and he was right. you go and see the worst there is and when you don't have time away from it to decompress and love your own family and kiss

them, it is weighs in on you and it has this affect on these officers. and we know we have to stand up to do something about them. listen, you have truck drivers that aren't allowed to drive over certain amount of time on road for their own safety as well as everyone else on road that should apply to our police officers as well. >> the right thing to do and thank you for leading charge on it. thanks for having me. police across the country are actively taking steps to improve the relationship with those they protect and serve. now taking to charlotte north carolina one year ago announce that all officers would go through training in customer service. now if you're skeptical they were too. i talk to the chief and some of the officers about what they've learned. watch. >> what is this customer's service -- initiative that you're doing? i mean i was police explorer major never heard anything about this. >> yeah. we hadn't either and that's

thing when i looked at it and we said how do you look how to have better interactions with people we come many contact with not just externally but internally and basically to become with a goal to in day makers for individuals that we are encounters. >> i'm curious what is then the reaction -- of during the program goes from the public as well as your rank and file. >> wow. it's been a roller coaster ride to say the least. so both with -- from rankin rank and file there's some concerns with the approach and how we're going to change not just how we interact with people but basically we're looking at cultural change within the organization. that's always difficult regardless of where you work if you are going to come in and make assistant changes on how you do your job. there's going to be some pushback to it and that's whey saw early on but what we saw is

as our officers and as our employees started to go through the training, a lot of the response was you know, wow. this is nothing like i thought it was going to be and we needed this. this is really going to help within our job and we were able to turn that around and as we train half of our employees, a lot of that messaging started getting out. and as far as the public you know the public was ready for something. we saw what's been going on in the last two or three years in law enforcement. and any different approach people were welcoming it. >> your officer approach the scene how is he supposed to conduct him or herself? >> first of all the officer should be intentional to say, that i'm going to do everything i can to lead that positive impression. you know, we have a customer service saying that is basically we're going to lead the positive impression that we'll earn a jean win thank you and across social media and perception of police officers in bad police

officers across the country doing bad things but there's so much of us doing great things. and we want to focus that attention on the great things that we do as well. >> all right chief let's see what your officers think about you. >> starting out i don't think many people were big fans, right. i think that the concept of customer service mixed with law enforcement was difficult to understand. >> where do you think they were suggesting when he was first -- >> i think a lot of people perception with customer service is customer sols right and so whenever you come into that with law enforcement how does that play in? because wean some people we deal with aren't going to have their best day so how does that impact and i think that's kind of what the hesitation was when how do we incorporating customer service and not always have them be always right. but still incorporate customer service in that aspect? >> in practice. what is this like on a day-to-day basis with customer

service initiative? >> so i think just making sure that we're greeting people and being friendly is one thing you know sometimes we don't really think about we get so caught up in doing our job and you know things that we have to do when we get on scene when someone calls 9-1-1 making sure we're getting that personal aspect of finding something to have a common with them. >> another big driving factor in this program for me is -- the wellness of officers. officers experience critical distinct on a high level. >> yeah. >> and that is not normal for a normal human being so we have to as a community as elected officials even as news media to report law enforcement as much as possible and those negative encounters that we can see on television puts perception that law enforcement is not doing their job correctly. which in we look at our 98.rate never relate in arrest so number show that hey we're doing or job we're just putting extra out to

show you hey we're willing to go to extra mile. >> so customer service it is helping then right because the first interaction as they have is a positive intersection. >> so it is helping in twofold helping because officers are actually beginning out there and doing work number one and number two the fact that the community here is police department is training customer service at least they understand when these officers come on scene, they're going to be professional. they're going to be proficient and resourceful and they're here to actually help me be a maker even in those challenges moments we're here. >> see y'all not gong to jail. >> no -- not that. >> taking out on you -- >> yes. >> appreciate it. >> thank you. country head to detroit where criminals have reached a new low over span of one week detroit church with target by thieves five different times and lost nearly 15,000 dollars worth of equipment. and worst of all the church was forced to buy back their own stolen property from a local pawnshop. white the third is the pastor at the arch detroit and he joins me now pastor white thank you so much for join the program now i am a a preach kid so this may be just me but when did people start targeting the church? >> i don't know exactly when they did but i know they started target us on july 9th i want to thank you my brother for having this very important conversation but on july 9th 2022, obviously, around miepght our church in detroit the arch of detroit where i serve as pastor someone breached our perimeter came into the sanctuary for the first time. and they stole a very valuable

keyboard a very valuable speaker and personal monitors that was on a saturday early saturday morning. over the next seven days, someone continued to try to come to hit us they got into the church two other times to make three entries into the church and then there were two attempted break-ins that were thwarted by 24 hour security that we were forced to hire. and so out of that, as you indicated, we lost around 10 to 15,000 dollars worth of merchandise over a 7-day period. lawrence: how did you have to buy it back shouldn't law enforcement -- gotten the property back why did you have to pay pawnshop back? >> that's what outraged us we went to pawnshop told them that merchandise was ours we expressed to them that description of the merchandise, and the pawnshop operator was clear to us that it didn't matter to him who came into the store. they were going buy it back iemg also an attorney i look up
