>> steve: it winds up that way somehow. good morning. it's a tuesday. 10:00 this morning the consumer confidence number is going to come out. now, keep in mind, in january, it was at 111. and the estimate is that in june, it fell to 97. that would be the lowest level since february of last year, essentially what it does, is it measures how confident you are about spending money. and a great tell is the fact that yesterday walmart was talking to investors and everybody and they said, you know what? surging inflation on the cost of food and gas is affecting the prices and affecting how people spend money. so, if gas and fuel are so expensive, they are spending less money on electronics and clothes, and so what dher doing is essentially those things are going to all go on sale. >> ainsley: it's affecting everyone. did you see the story on disney world the portions are smaller. and people are now taking pictures of their food at disney

>> steve: she does. >> ainsley: definition of recession is two negative quarters back to back. he disagreed with her. listen. >> i covered the economy for many years. i was told by everybody i spoke to that two negative quarters, to contracting quarters means that the economy is in a recession. do you believe that? is that what you ascribe to? >> that is not the actual definition of a recession. it is a significant contractionary period over a few months where those who make that determination look at a lot of different factors, particularly the jobs market. the evidence is strong we're not in a recessionary period. and that in fact, in the face of a very rough global economy, 9 u.s. economy is showing special resistance. >> ainsley: she asked him about the "the washington post" article as well. that was her final question. she got that in before the interview was concluded. she said do you agree with the "the washington post" should

number. and it is the metric that they have used for decades to say whether or not we are in a recession. look, we are probably in a recession. let's hope we are not. it would be fantastic if we are not. the administration has spent the last 10 days tries to say hey, you know what? we are not in the recession and six months the bad economic numbers are not so bad. they are bad. they are keeping you from buying stuff. and you don't feel confident enough to go out -- you know, people aren't filling up their whole tank because it's like i can't afford it maybe the price of gas will go down. vivek ramaswamy was on with tucker last night and said we are looking ahead to a financial problem. whatever they call it by the administration, it's a problem for all of us. >> the best way to control a society is to control its language first. and just like diversity is conformity, inclusion is exclusion. war is peace. now, apparently a recession is something other than two consecutive quarters of g.d.p.

americans are paying $100 more per month to fill up their gas tanks than when biden took office. >> steve: right. here's the thing, for the president and his team. i get it you want to put a happy face on those astronomical gas prices that you are looking at right now and the prices are down 50 cents or so over the last month. but they are over $4 a gallon. they are up 72% since joe biden took office. when is he going to start calling this price drop the putin price discount because, remember, it was the putin price hike when it went up and if it was all about putin, this is obviously the putin price discount, right? >> ainsley: didn't he say that afghanistan was a success? does he want us to believe that? now he is saying recession is not true? the border, didn't he say it was secure? should we believe that? lowering gas prices, we did it, we did it really? you jacked them up and you slightly lowered them. they are still higher than they

16-year-old girl with him ducked under the turnstile. the cops stopped him and the boy became verbally aggressive over the next three minutes with the officers before they attempted to arrest him and then all hell broke loose. he -- the 16-year-old young man started punching the cop and the cop started punching back. and then his female companion started punching at the officer before a female cop pulled her away and the girl spard with that cop. >> ainsley: oh my gosh, it's a 54-minute video 125th street at lexington, which is above the upper east side in east harlem. happened at 6:00 p.m. on saturday and on sunday he went to court and he is back out on the street. >> brian: not only that, he has been arrested for possession of loaded gun and robbery before. and he was still released on his own recognizance the next day. just under a minute video but the cop does get body slammed. >> ainsley: look at that there slammed to the grate twisted over and chokehold.

>> brian: he had a girl with him and wrestled the girl cop at the same time for jump ago turnstile. so this is what the cops are up against. they got to be saying, a lot of people say the cops got to worry about being sued all the time when they put their hands on somebody. they could always be sued because of qualified immunity. >> here's the thing, so on saturday on sunday when he faced a judge they released him into his own recognizance which is he is 16 years old. why was he not released into the custody of a family member or somebody like that because the kid had a record. he was previously arrested for possession of a loaded gun and robbery and then he was released on his own recognizance as well. we have heard a million times that gun -- i know, gun crimes, anything involving a gun different. you will be booked but apparently they didn't book him then, probably because he is a juvenile.

this facility, but to the bourbon trail in general. we are lucky enough to be with a great-grandson and great-great-grandson of james beam fred noe and freddie know. let me start with you because before we came on, we were talking about in the 70s, interesting bourbon was basically an all-time low. what is it like to see this explosion in tourism, hundreds of thousands of people to visit every year? >> it has been great for the bourbon trail and the bourbon industry. we have folks coming all over the world to see how we make the bourbon and see where it comes from. that is what kentucky is all about us will sue. >> how do you explain to surgery and people wanting to come here? >> they want to drink that great bourbon in kentucky. >> can you blame them? freddie, this comparison of the napa valley in the center of america. it is a different kind of beverage that people enjoy here, but what do you make of that comparison?

>> you know, there was a lot of comparisons to be made there. a lot of wineries in the napa valley area. there is 50 represented by the kentucky distiller association with many more coming every day now. there is just a lot of synergy around bourbon here in kentucky. historically, it has been horse racing, but with the kind of surge and popularity of bourbon as dad said. people want to see what's going on and wear their favorite whiskey is made in the future. >> there is a lot of history, too, jim beam has basically been here the end of prohibition, 1935. you are an eighth generation distiller? >> that is correct and we been on the site since 1935. jim beam about this at the beginning of prohibition and ever since then everyone in our family has been in charge of production of the whiskey here on this site at claremont. >> steve, ainsley, brian, i will
