7:01 pm
access from other people. we are going to pick it up where you left off. i am laura ingraham, this is "the ingraham angle." thanks for being with us tonight. redefining failure, that's the focus of tonight's angle. today was one of the worst days of the biden administration has had since its inauguration. two things have become undeniable for everybody but slavish biden apologists. number one trend, americans getting poorer. number 2, america is getting weaker. the white house is trying to spin gold out of goose poop. the gdp number came out and naturally it's worse than expected. >> two successive quarters of negative economic growth has been deemed a recession and confirmation of that ugly
7:02 pm
reality came today. >> looking back on this, we may say that the u.s. descended into a recession starting around the middle of this year. >> we're going to hear from the president coming out because he knows it's bad news this morning. >> laura: remember, get a get used to living with less is there policy. they also know that the r word hurts politically so they fudge the numbers. biden may be covid free but today he was also a fact of free. >> let me give you what the facts are in terms of the state of the economy. businesses are investing in america at record rates. we have a record job market of record unemployment. this is probably the strongest rebound in american manufacturing, that doesn't sound like a recession to me. >> laura: you never see him walk faster. everything you just heard him say is a lie.
7:03 pm
businesses are reducing investments, americans have entirely given up looking for work and pay raises are nowhere near keeping up with inflation. the media if we had a media should be asking biden why his views on the u.s. economy are so much rosier than the imf. under trump we had the strongest economy in the g7, remember that. and now, we are tied with france in fourth place with a 2.3% gdp. france, that is embarrassing. the projections get even worse for 2023. we drop to 1% gdp. the imf reports the risks are overwhelmingly tilted to the downside, that is a quote. listen really closely as biden's crew again try to redefine failure. >> there is no doubt we expect
7:04 pm
growth to be slower than last year and that's consistent with the transition to the stable, steady growth. >> we are in a transition, we have a strong economic growth. >> this report indicates an economy that is transitioning to more steady, sustainable growth. >> laura: more like transitioning to permanent decline which is what they want to. use less, travel less, prosper less, expect less. biden's propagandists think americans are stupid but they are not. >> americans hate this economy, the cnn poll recently said 64% of the polled believed the u.s. economy is currently in a recession. >> laura: this is going to get worse under biden's policies, things will get more, not less expensive after the spending explosion on that climate.
7:05 pm
meanwhile, things are getting more dangerous on the national security front. chinese president a xi and biden spent two hours on the phone in china spent the entire time lecturing us and warning biden. the ccp's readout went like this. china firmly opposes separatist moves by taiwan and interference toward external forces. the interference of the chinese government and people on the taiwan question is consistent. those who play with fire will perish by it. it is hoped the u.s. will be clear right about this. "those who play with fire will perish by it?" journalists if we have been a left should be asking the white house if china accurately captured what was said. if so, press them on why biden didn't end back the call immediately. they are threatening the
7:06 pm
speaker of the house. biden looks incredibly weak, for two years the biden people have been sucking up the china because john kerry thought china was going to help us on the climate change issue? the communist party is playing all of them. he doesn't give a rats you know what about carbon emissions and doesn't ever feel constrained by the rules-based international order and never operates in good faith, never. it's a dictatorship. just ask jack ma from alibaba, they took his all the billion-dollar company from him, why? because they can. our big corporations and banks doing business there will ultimately suffer the same fate -- it's only a matter of time. biden and xi talked about tariffs, that's the only thing xi cares about. obviously china wants them removed. this will make china richer and stronger and american manufacturing weaker. of course biden is thinking about doing it, you can't make this up, this is insane. unless this is all part of
7:07 pm
biden's plan, meaning whoever controls biden's plan. biden and the democrats have put america behind the eight ball. this is an emergency that requires a radical change in leadership in congress and later on in the white house. if you ever want this country to be strong again, for our families to be prosperous, your street to be safe again, we have to get rid of these people. that means taking back the senate -- every seat is critical. a vote in georgia for raphael warnock is a vote for decline. a vote for john federman in pennsylvania is a vote for high energy prices. vote for tim ryan in ohio is a vote for high food prices. a vote for mark kelly and arizona is a vote to send more american jobs overseas. none of these people, none of them are moderate. they are in lockstep with biden and schumer. all current and future enablers
7:08 pm
of this unfolding american tragedy. they can try to redefine decline as success all they want but it's not going to work. americans like winning too much. today it became clearer than ever that biden only knows how to lose. that's the angle. joining me now as john ratcliffe, former trump director of national intel and victor davis hanson, hoover institution senior fellow. let's take these humiliations and that's what they are -- one by one. how could the white house not have foreseen that the chinese would completely dominate them with this readout? >> your lead in was spot on. the readout speaks volumes. according to the readout, joe biden told president xi that he opposed any unilateral efforts to change the
7:09 pm
status quo. president xi was more direct. he promised the fiery death, he promised that those who play with fire, set themselves on fire and would perish. very clearly from that it sounds like a president xi is playing hardball, president biden is playing wiffle ball and we've seen that far too often. to your point about if this is accurate, we know it is at least in part, both parties agree in the readout that the gentleman agreed to a face-to-face meeting. president xi never would've agreed to a face-to-face meeting if after he set the redline on taiwan that joe biden set up to him and said nancy pelosi or any american politician can go to taiwan anytime they want. the ball is in nancy pelosi's court now. for the sake of our national security, nancy pelosi needs to go to taiwan. the chinese government, the chinese communist party cannot be setting american foreign policy in the south china sea two if nancy pelosi backs down, then to your point, i think
7:10 pm
you're right. republicans need to spend the next few months telling americans, we have a president to very clearly won't stand up to our number one adversary in the world and if a democratically controlled congress won't stand up to them either, the only way to keep america safe is for republicans to be in charge of congress. >> laura: the democrats have to be wiped out across the board and the press secretary revealed some other things apparently that the biden and xi discuss, watch. >> i'll share a little bit of what they covered, a detailed discussion of areas where the two countries work together with a particular focus on climate change and health security and counter narcotics. the two teams will be following up on those areas. >> laura: just we catalogue this, china pollutes, they were responsible for covid and fentanyl kills tens of thousands of americans every year. how are we working with them on
7:11 pm
any of this? >> they're looking at us and wondering why we are not mad at them or not deterring them. it started in anchorage in the beginning of the biden term when they took that insulting speech to them and they didn't have any pushback. after afghanistan whether it's china or iran or north korea or russia, they feel the united states cannot or will not deter its enemies. they look at our recruitment figures, only 40% of getting people to join the army now. they look at the border and crime, they think we and the europeans are committing collective national suicide. they are adventurous and when they look at our chairman of the joint chiefs, they conclude that mark milley will tip them off in advance if he feels that his commander in chief is not fully cognizant as he did during the trump administration. as far as they are concerned, millie may call them up and say joe biden seems like his cognitive challenged, i want to
7:12 pm
warn you if he gives me an ordered that's too risky. they have lost respect for the u.s. military, the u.s. administration and they feel culturally, politically, and economically that we are in decline. they're going to continue to take advantage of it, this is the beginning, it's not going to stop, it's going to be a new reality they are going to tell us, this is what you're going to do, these are the rules you're going to abide by. if you don't like it, do something about it and we haven't. if you're going to go to taiwan and if you're going to take in vienna, take the. don't say you're going and stop. >> laura: cnn's pentagon correspondent revealed just how dangerous this situation is getting now with china, watch. >> chinese warships are already shadowing that aircraft carrier the ronald reagan in the south china sea, the chairman of the point chiefs mark milley has been tracking all of this and he says that chinese dangerous
7:13 pm
aggressive if you will actions in the region are way up. up >> laura: how close is china taking aggressive military action against the united states or our allies? >> i think everyone looking at the intelligence has to believe that china is much closer to moving against taiwan -- why wouldn't they? joe biden has been backing up since day one trend. he backed down to the taliban in ukraine, he offered zelinski a ride out of ukraine and he backed down repeatedly to china. part of what deterred this was the strength of the trump administration to take on china directly, to look at the intelligence and say clearly what they intend to do is to replace us as the world's superpower and the result of the biden administration has been to
7:14 pm
undo all of the good work we have done the counter china and china's aggression around the world. why wouldn't president xi be more aggressive? i think he sees a window of opportunity during the biden administration that may not be there when republicans are back in charge. >> laura: we are blowing huge amount of money in ukraine and sending armory munitions to ukraine when china is helping russia keep it all going, keep the war machine going by buying its agriculture and oil. it's such a perverse situation and here come the biden comeback stories after some potential legislative movements. politico wrote after enduring a brutal year, biden is suddenly on the verge of a turn around the white house believes could salvage his summer and alter the trajectory of the presidents.
7:15 pm
he's at 37% approval, this is going to salvage his summer? what about the people who can't put gas in their summer? what about their summer? >> we are coming up to gut check time in ukraine because it's turning into a slaw can we have to decide if we are going to continue to escalate to the eta so they can survive or are we going to have a negotiated settlement or are we going to get into a cuban missile crisis and nuclear brinkmanship with vladimir putin? nobody's talking about that. china is watching all this very carefully. the only thing i think has changed as we are starting to get leaks now from the doj and the whistle-blowers in the fbi about the laptop and other tax problems from the biden family. that would not of happened if they felt joe biden was an asset, now they feel he's a liability and they are testing the waters by leaking this out
7:16 pm
because they want to make him inert, if not after the midterms at least in 2024. >> laura: thank you so much, good to see you both. as biden looks to weaken america from within, there are some states fighting back against the president and the woke corporations that are pandering to the left's goals. the state of west virginia has just seen five financial institutions in eligible for state banking contracts on the grounds that they boycott fossil fuel companies. you want to know what courage looks like? it's standing up to black rock, goldman sachs, jpmorgan chase, morgan stanley, and wells fargo, some of the biggest firms in the world. joining me now was the man who made this determination, west virginia at treasurer riley more. when we had you on in january, at the time you noted other states were considering moves like this.
7:17 pm
will this be the start of a domino effect against the woke ceos. >> thank you so much for having me on. i do believe this is the first step because similar legislation that authorized me to do this has also passed in kentucky, oklahoma, tennessee, and texas. i have been in conversations with them and they are working on their lists like we have in west virginia, the restricted financial institutions list. this is the first step in this process. >> laura: jpmorgan responded to your move telling "the new york times" this decision was shortsighted and disconnected from the facts. the businesses are not in conflict with this anti-free market law. of the big banks obviously trying to pay lip service to conservatives and assuage her concerns about free markets, your response.
7:18 pm
>> that's hilarious. jpmorgan chase and these other banks we have listed clearly have prohibitions on lending to the fossil fuel industry, may be perhaps they might do some business and oil, they might do some in gas but i'll give you an example. they have direct prohibitions on lending to coal and we are a coal state in west virginia. we just happen to power the country, i guess not that big of a deal. it is a very important resource here in the united states. they have a direct lending prohibition on all thermal coal in this country and any financing related to that. i don't buy that argument and secondarily, this is a free market solution, i am a market participant, i am not a market regulator. all we are asking for is for the free market to remain free, for these financial institutions to assess risk and capital and decide all their decisions based on those factors and not some
7:19 pm
woke political agenda. >> laura: speaking of coal, we discovered buried in this spend a rama climate change that your senator joe manchin supports and could make possible included a big tax hike in section 13901 on coal, increasing attacks on underground mines from $0.50 to a dollar $0.10. is joe manchin really representing the people of west virginia with this legislation in your view? >> i have to say it is really disappointing, his support of this legislation with his tax on coal. just to be clear, the coal operators on going to end up paying this tax, it's like all taxes the democrats put forward. the consumer will. you already see energy prices
7:20 pm
rising right now, they are 14% increase in energy prices in this country which has really driven that cpi number, the number we just saw come out as it relates to inflation, this is going to pile more onto that, this is going to increase inflation. it is disappointing to see he is supporting this since we are a coal state but at the end of the day that should be important everybody in the country because you're going to end up paying the price. >> laura: you're being charitable, it's disgusting what joe manchin did. i don't know what they gave him in return -- the whole thing stinks to high heaven. what you are doing against the woke ceos is invaluable, we appreciate you. thank you for standing up to these institutions. remember the story we brought you last night about how the fbi was fudging their domestic terrorism numbers to try to appease president biden. we have a big update on that. jim jordan mollie hemingway have
7:21 pm
7:23 pm
7:26 pm
last night. the whistle-blower documents that allege unnamed fbi officials were pressuring agents to reclassify cases as domestic violence extremism in order to make their targeting of political opponents seem really important and worthwhile. today we not only learned of the agent behind all of this but what else he was involved in? meet agent timothy t-ball two is reportedly the same special agent who put a stop to any potential investigation into hunter biden before it could get off the ground. joining me now is ohio congressman jim jordan, ranking member of the house judiciary committee and mollie hemingway editor in chief of "the federalist" and fox news contributor. what can you tell us tonight about this agent? >> we have another peter strzok. he's juicing the numbers of domestic violence extremism in the country, catholic nose type of cases and on the other hand
7:27 pm
he's suppressing evidence about hunter biden and it's part of a pattern. nothing has changed at the fbi, this is no different then call jim comey, mccabe, this is part of a pattern of the bureaucracy using their power for politics. we sought a decade ago with the irs, it's wrong and it needs to stop. we are going to do everything we can to stop it. >> laura: when you have the american public increasingly not trusting our federal law enforcement -- we see this happening on the local level with local law enforcement but this is just horrific. >> people should not be trusting the fbi and department of justice because they have consistently shown for the last few years that they are being run frankly by lunatics who
7:28 pm
believe in going to war against half of the country. there is example after example after example of this and it is a threat to the republic. this is how countries unravel. everybody knows there are two standards of justice and if you are republican voter, republican officials, you will be treated dramatically differently than if you're a democrat. this is no way for the country to continue. >> laura: congressman jordan, your colleague hakeem jeffries was contending -- will not go to mollie on this was contending something beyond outrageous yesterday. >> the threat right now in this country to the american people are extreme mega republicans. that's the threat, that's the problem. that's the crisis that we confront. >> laura: we are trying to get the congressman to be able to
7:29 pm
hear us better but language like that, how can anyone call this anything but political persecution -- republicans of the big problem in the country? come on. >> i think hakeem jeffries shows with the regine currently thinks and what they think is the american people are a threat to their power and the need to go up to war against them. that's why we have seen so many examples of this from the department of justice whether it's going after parents who wanted to be involved in their school boards are going after the president of the united states, or deciding not to do their duty and investigate the corrupt business dealings of a powerful family. this is an issue i think we were horrified to see how the fbi itself got involved in spreading disinformation about how the hunter biden laptop was itself disinformation. that's something they did to advantage or political allies and that's why we reported at "the federalist" this week increasing numbers of department of justice officials both current and former are saying
7:30 pm
there needs to be much more resources given to the people who are investigating the biden family and just today former attorney general bill barr told us that he thinks it's past time for attorney general merrick garland to appoint a special counsel. instead of doing that, what merrick garland is doing is trying to figure out ways to put his primary political opponents in prison. this is really dangerous stuff that he is playing with and it's something that all republican officials need to speak loudly against not just on behalf of their constituents but also for the sake of preserving the republic. >> laura: i keep thinking in my mind they spent a lot of time criticizing vladimir putin rightly for putting his political opponents in jail, for persecuting them. what are they doing? what's happening here? whether it's the investigation of trump come all the people in january 6th, what is it?
7:31 pm
will not get to you, i don't know who can hear man who can't. you got me back? i want to get the something that's happening if we could in d.c., switch gears a little bit. the left wing mayor muriel bowser is not going to criticize the open borders in d.c. in 2016 she declared d.c. a sanctuary city, she reacted to all the migrants arriving in the city this way. >> we need the federal government to be involved. i've asked for the deployment of the guard as long as we need the guard to deal with the humanitarian crisis. we expect to escalate. >> laura: finally they are figuring out a reason to call in the national guard, too good to be true? >> what she should do is call
7:32 pm
secretary mayorkas and call president biden and say stop the madness, actually enforce the law, put in place we know what works, remained in mexico, build the wall instead of calling up the national guard, call up joe biden, call of secretary mayorkas and do your job. remember, he told a senate hearing when when we asked him about 42 illegal migrants who were on the terrorist watch list i asked him a question, i said what is the status of those individuals? 's answer was i don't know. the real call he should make is to those guys and say do your job. >> laura: they found about 75 people as part of a human smuggling operation, migrants and others in a home in northwest d.c. which is the nicest quadrant of d.c. and that was revealed today. 75 people in one home with tens of thousands of dollars of cash? this is out of control.
