were never taught. the election of 1800. they were for president for candidates as it turned out. there was supposed to be to john adams was running as a federalist inmate upon thomas jefferson running as a republican. jeff assembles running with ehrenberg, that was the ticket. jeff jefferson burner was the vice president. back to before the top amendment whoever got the most electoral votes would be the president and for reasons i don't need to get into although it is very exciting. ehrenberg decided he had a shot at president given the fact that the federalist were playing games they knew the adams clinic at the presidency and having decided that they decided to try to stop thomas jefferson. they had a problem even though hamilton, despise jefferson and aaron burr, he despised aaron burr more and add bad experiences. with aaron burr, jefferson was
5:02 pm
furious that the federalist were playing games and that burr had stabbed him in the back. in the end as pointed out in the smithsonian a piece written november 1, 2004, an excellent piece by john sperling, the federalist decided to back burr, hearing their decision thomas jefferson told john adams, any attempt to defeat the presidential election will produce resistance by force an incalculable consequences. that is thomas jefferson. what else. burr was not the only given a high stake. every conceivable pressure was applied to changed votes. every conceivable pressure. those in the deadlocked obligations recorded daily but no one was lobby more aggressively than james baird. delaware's long congressman. who held in his hands the sole determination of how his day would vote.
5:03 pm
this was the guy that would make all the difference in the world. he was pressured, he was lobby, bribes were even offered. for weeks, warnings had circulated some drastic consequences. if republicans were denied the consequently now they dangerous impalpable shaken president adams was certain the two sides had come to the oppressiveness of disaster. a civil war was expected. there was talk continuance would succeed if jefferson were not elected. some republicans declared it would convene another constitutional convention to restructure the federal government so that it reflected democratic or spirit of america. it was rumored that a mob had torn the arsenal in philadelphia. i was going to march on washington from power. jeffrey said he could not restrain those of the supporters who threatened a dissolution of the union.
5:04 pm
he told adam that many republicans were prepared to use force to prevent the federalist legislative use of the executive branch. i think jefferson will be serving 50 years about now. and all likelihood, it was the threats that ultimately broke the deadlock, the shift occurred sometime after saturday's final ballot. it was delaware's baird who blinked and he abstained. so the state didn't go for either side and that's how jefferson wanted it. the final ministry of the election of 1890 jefferson and his backers with a sanctioned violence and denied the presidency soon after taking office jefferson claim there was no idea of using force. his remark proves little. during the ongoing battle in the house he alternately spoke of the seating to the federalist misconduct in the hope that the behavior would ruin them or calling a second constitutional convention. he probably would've chosen one

or both of these courses before risking bloodshed in the end of the union. why do i tell you this, jefferson who made statements that donald trump never made. the committee is trying to find ways to put those words in trump's mouth. we talk about a civil war, we talk about any of that stuff. didn't talk about violence that he wouldn't be able to stop. they're whining about 187 minutes when he told people stop. so this is a big deal. we have a piece of the washington post a couple weeks back and they're very excited it's titled what crimes might the january 6 committee say trump committed by amber phillips abstract of an official proceeding of congress is one of them. they talk about stopping lawmakers from certifying bidens win. they show the attack on the capital is not a spontaneous outburst but that trump and his allies specifically plan to disrupt the congressional

county. they have no evidence that trump did that. none whatsoever. what if they did not go forward with legitimate concerns raised by senators or house members. here is the problem we had prosecutors in the u.s. attorneys in office in washington. we have an attorney general, we have a media politicians in congress he don't understand how the electoral college works. all of these electors votes are sent to the united states. certified by the state. archivist sends them to a joint meeting of congress. on january 6 by federal statute. why does he do that? if the election is over if the election is done at the president has been chosen why does he do that. because it is not done until congress says it is done.
5:07 pm
congress is the last check. not the courts, not the ballot boxes, congress. which is why jamie raskin one of the members of the january 6 committee objected to a republican president of one time. why, because he wanted to prevent a republican for being president. which is why the chairman of this committee bennie thompson objected once because he wanted to prevent a republican from being every member of the presidency. the system is built for objections, the system is built not to rubberstamp otherwise why and by congress at all. why congress voted on anything. why is congress certifying on anything because it's not over until congress says it is over. when people say trump was trying to reverse an election it is not over until congress says it is over. would actually have situations like this one. when it was over until congress

made the final decision and we had other situations like that. so he's not trying to stop lawmakers from certifying bidens wing quote unquote. conspiracy to defraud the united states. there is another nasty sounding criminal statute. an agreement to obstruct an unlawful deceitfully dishonest means and they point out pressuring vice president pence for electoral results on januar. pressuring vice president pence. i just told you members of congress have objected the electorate, state, and tire electors. right. the vice president of the united states is the president of the senate. senate it's like barbara boxer, she did in the past subject but the president of the senate is also the vice president. he can't object. here's a dirty little secret you not hearing from legal analyst,
5:09 pm
you're not hearing from the media or anybody now you'll hear it without 100% sure what the vice president's role is. look at the constitution doesn't tell us, no. look at the 12th amendment is it clear, it's ambiguous. look at the federal statute that they all rely on from the 1880s. is that clear, no it's convoluted, anti-republican and democrat senators are now proposing a bill to clarify what the role of the vice president is when he oversees this process yet he wanted to be purely mr. where he is absolutely no ability to make any independent decisions. so why are they doing that, it is not clear if he did. i'll give you a perfect example. what if we learned after the quote unquote election that there is all kinds of bribery taking place a bribery scheme in that state that turned out to affect the outcome of the election. as the vice president of the united states overseeing the process and the president and
5:10 pm
the senate can he object and send it back to the states. there must be nothing i can do. have to wait for my friends in the senate to say something ago not in the mind of doing it or the house or whatever. he can't do anything is that what the framers had in mind, i scarcely doubt it. but today have in mind he did not tell us. how do you build a criminal case about that. we pressured the vice president of the vice president resisted. so what, that's exactly the way the system is supposed to work. it's not supposed to be criminalized whatever criminal statute today have in mind. the committee wants to tie trump directly to the leaders of the mob that attacked the capital seditious conspiracy. leaders and gentlemen have you seen any of that? any e-mails, any text, any of the firsthand testimony, anything on the graphic, anything on the video, anything by anybody, anywhere despite the

tried to change the election laws. they were working the democrat politicians and the courts in working in the governor's office and so forth and many of them succeeded. like it or not they're free to do that too. the free to do that to the other party is free to respond in the final say is in the congress of the united states. is not the u.s. attorney's office, and not by the attorney general of the united states. is not a bit of the courts. the final say is congress. that's why it winds up before a joint meeting of congress with the vice president oversees the process. that is why a member or members of the house and senate can object to the election and they have members of this committee and nobody's been arrested and nobody's been charged with obstruction, nobody's sad that their trimming democracy on its head. none of those things. i'll be right back.

didn't grab other authority i did not have. we're seeing the results of that in south dakota. it is interesting when you look from state to state and see how they're doing today we leading the country with our economy. our kids are outperforming kids and every other state and educational outcomes i have less than 700 people in south dakota that are on unemployment today. when the president offered those elevated and employment benefits we would only state that said no thank you. our people want to work. it's an experiment of what our founders envisioned this country would look like in south dakota. we actually did it and i think it's bringing hope to the rest of the country. we have people moving to south dakota in record numbers in their moving there because they want to be like us. >> using the federal government wants to get in the phase of the states in every direction whether to healthcare, the economy, whether it's natural resources and so forth.

leftist agenda that is extreme and willing to hurt children to create an unfair environment for women to succeed. it never ends. my best opportunity for pushing back on the federal government the way that it operates in joe biden's america is to take them to court and sue them. what happens then i end up on defense trying to protect my people from the high inflation. high taxes, the hifu cost that they're dealing with each and every day that hurt their budget so badly. mark: but may come back does this not illustrate the disconnect between people who come off the east coast or the west coast, people who are in washington, d.c. and that bubble in the social environment. many people who don't come to south dakota have no idea what you're talking about neither ideologues trying to protect their views on your state. do you think you are uniquely,
