living in afghanistan and secretary of state antony blinken and think that the taliban has violated the doha agreement by harboring him in afghanistan. so what was the fallout from this be and how does the u.s. respond to this? >> right, that is very significant. just because he's been taken out does not excuse biden's botched afghanistan pullout and remember, the u.n. told us last month that al zawahiri was living in kabul, that he was active and communicating freely. that is a safe harbor. this taliban government, no surprise, is basically giving safe harbor to some senior al qaeda operatives. there is a lot behind that rivalry between the solomon, al qaeda, it's a very complex picture. what we know is that afghanistan is, again, a harbor for

terrorism on some level. at something we will have to keep an eye on. >> todd: you connect the dots on this. would afghanistan be the safe harbor had not joe biden withdrawn one year ago, this month? >> will never know, but i'm with you on that one, todd. it would be much better to follow the original intent of the agreement, which included keeping america safe, keeping 2500 u.s. troops appear quite great that we did that strike. really good work there by the cia, but the fact is that we don't have that presence on the ground and the security agreement, which was keeping an eye on the taliban itself. we are in a weaker position. this is not how afghanistan was supposed to have turned up. it's pretty bad. >> carley: will there be retaliation against the u.s.? if so, what will that look like?

>> al qaeda is always looking for some opportunity to retaliate. we expect there to be more activity. don't tell us that were watching very, very closely in that region. still under the eye of u.s. and coalition surveyors. will also need to look in places like north africa and other regions where they are eager to spread their maligned ideology. got to keep our eyes on al qaeda, the taliban, all that. >> todd: we also need to keep our eyes on china, dr. grant. town of releasing video putting its military might on display. the speculation that speaker pelosi could visit i wanted. on the screen right now, the viewers can see this video, very incendiary, very look what we

can do from a military perspective. doctor, how should we respond to this? >> don't forget, xi jinping has a big political meeting coming up this fall. the last thing he needs right now is a major u.s. crisis, but we must respond to threats, we got to be ready for the pacific or anywhere else. the military is ready to show them as women about there. >> carley: he said nothing has changed about our support for the one china policy. he also said we do not support taiwan independence. he actually made that point twice, he said it was very important that you make that you. it really felt like the white house is nervous and the goal there was -- could be to say something that china really wants to hear. what you make of that?

yeah, okay, one china policy, that's fine, but i don't think we need to move to a new step there. taiwan is an independent nation, great economy, things are very different. i think -- i like to see speaker pelosi go into taiwan, and the reason is to show our commitment to taiwan and to holding back any potential chinese aggression. we don't want it to become the next hong kong. >> todd: carley mentioned john kirby. lesson. >> given as you pointed out, there is no change in policy. rock, dr. gram, you this,

obviously, this is a very tough part for the white house to be in. nancy pelosi, democrat, joe biden, democrat, nancy pelosi doing something that joe biden doesn't want to do. 24 hours from hours from now, assuming today's the day that you go to taiwan as expected, what is the end? how does this all end? what are we talking about tomorrow this time on this does? >> keep in mind, if she was, she is in a military aircraft. if she goes, she will be welcomed by taiwan, they've made that clear. i think it is a strong signal. time for the white house to say china, you can't dictate who travels into taiwan. and leave it at that. >> carley: we talk a lot about the consequences of nancy pelosi going to taiwan, but there was a are not going to taiwan, including signaling to our allies that we may not fully have their back. very important possible trip that she will be going on today. will see how it is.

are lies that are literally going to citizens of chicago that don't deserve to be hearing this nonsense, i can't answer why he's doing it, but i can answer why am stepping aside because i wanted and for. >> carley: the numbers tell the story. 2020, there were over 30,000 foreign officers in the chicago police department, now there are 11,600 sexual assaults also up, so as robbery, burglary, theft, vehicle theft as well. here the first person that people would call when they were in trouble. what have you noticed about crime over the past two years that we should know about? >> all, you know, i decline has always been rampant in chicago, but it's never been to the point under the direct leadership of lori lightfoot. we let these people in and out of jail, but kim fox is doing her thing with just a revolving door. i can tell you, listening to these people call, with people shot right there while i'm listening and my colleagues were listening, it's bad. were supposed to tell these citizens a bunch of fluff and

nonsense that they have resources and police coming to the scene, and there's hours and hours before we actually can get a lot of these officers to many of the scenes throughout the entire city, so it's just a bad, the crime has just skyrocketed. i don't notice about the mayor and her administration because what they're saying is a bunch of lies backwards just so bad. i really hope that we can kind of change this corruption going on in chicago. >> todd: it's not just. a cook county prosecutor slamming d.a. kim fox in a blistering resignation letter people listen to this. "if this administration was truly concerned with effectively fighting violent crime, then it would fully staffed as courtrooms and unit. meanwhile, we are under resourced, but at least we are able to wear jeans in july." pointing out the focus being on fun ride is a gene that whatever. and chicago get rid of these do and how much worse can it get before the fine people of chicago do something about this?

administer. narcan needs to be as easy to access as a smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors because they save lives. >> carley: that's a good point. point. at such a sad reality that i've enough to have this question because we talked to parents whose children died from an accidental fentanyl overdoses. is this something that parents can get? the general public and receive? >> absolutely. that the great question because we just had another story when a six year old got into the parent's cbd dummies that were handmade and had three times the normal adult dose. the 6-year-old spent two days in the icu. we see the storage. yes. not only parents but the average age of overdosing and others really made 20s all the way up to the mid-40s. it will impact everyone of us, including those who are addicts. they were no one is immune to this. deputy forrest bradley, were so glad that you're okay.

this time as well as the teachers. >> todd: parents like you are done. you're sick of it. enrolment dropped over 8% in traditional public schools over the last two years back a look at that. you picked up the kids and move to west virginia out of new york city. why? >> for several reasons, but the main reason is definitely the pandemic has heightened the violence in new york. just the struggle during the pandemic. he lost the opportunity of playing a sport with his middle school and that set a deep depression for my son as well as the family. we all had to enter, me and his father, and it was really hard to see him go through that transition. just a note that my son is not the only kid that had to experience that. i know plenty of kids that have experienced that. sports is their outlet or their

way of life and it was taken from them because of the covid-19 vaccine, so many people lost their jobs behind the mandate. it was really a bus. definitely better opportunities right now outside of new york for me and my family. >> todd: 70% of public schools have reported an increase in students seeking mental health services since the start of the pandemic. in your son's case, there were vaccination rules that you did not like. you wanted the best for your child, you're the parent to determine what was in the best interest for your child. the teachers union and their cronies decided something else was best for your kids. what you say to the teachers union that effectively store two years from your kids' lives? >> i think stop thinking about yourselves and think about the future and our children are the future, and the fact that they

has been wrong from day one. taking our soldiers out of afghanistan, allowing al zawahiri to retire in afghanistan as if he was a safe haven for him should point everything out that we need to do. we've been weeks, we've shown weakness, and we are showing our weakness all the way around the world. afghanistan has been a wreck, it's our fault, and the administration has led us to this point. >> carley: clearly something that should be celebrated, but some people have pointed out that the fact that al zawahiri was in afghanistan proves that al qaeda still has a presence that despite president biden think otherwise and it also violated the agreement, so what is the state of terrorism in afghanistan right now? >> well, it's alive and kicking. it seems that what we've done is put ourselves back in the position we were 20 years ago. we have a growing threat that

never really went away. we tried to convince ourselves it wasn't there, even though our eyes and saw everything, and now we have to face the reality that terrorism and the al qaeda network is stronger than ever and it's there in afghanistan. is >> carley: going down to arizona, the biden administration, this is interesting, quietly approved a plan to complete about four sections of the arizona border wall despite vowing not to build a single photo of it, then you have yuma's mayor saying it's fine. >> still over 50 other gaps that are currently open in the u.s. over 7 miles of open water, so four of them are great, they're the fourth busiest, but it doesn't begin to solve everything that we are dealing with. >> carley: what you make of this and why the reversal from the biden administration year?

>> i would suggest that it's three months to the election. i think it's pretty clear why the reversal. we've added demonstrated policy of failure at our southern border. the clear answer is going back to the previous administration's policy, and were quietly trying to rebrand that like we redefine a lot of terminology in this administration. biden will come about in border security. this is what it should have been all along. building these two sections is a good start, but were really just going to funnel traffic other places, so we need to commit all the way to finishing this one. >> carley: today is a big day for you because you're looking to win back the republican primary and arizona's fourth district, then you want to flip it right in the general election because the current congressman is a democrat. when you're on the campaign trail, what are people telling you? what do they need the most right now? what are the biggest concerns? >> well, its inflation back of

the biggest concern that we have in arizona, where 2% higher than inflation rate than the rest of the country spending 7 to $9,000 more a year on a basic needs than anywhere else in the country. we have to have an administration that understands that. our current representative and many of the challengers in this primary ways are of the same ilk. their people that pretend they understand the decisions that we make an arizona and the reality is most of them don't. most of them don't know what it is to decide between a tank of gas and some groceries for your family. it's really a very challenging situation, and we need someone with business background and some military experience to come in and lead the representation in this district on a path forward out of this recession we are in today. >> carley: kelly cooper, thank you so much for joining us this morning. we appreciate.
