7:00 pm
>> sean: all right, unfortunately that's all the time we have left this evening, thank you for making this show be possible. let not your heart be troubled. she is back after a long weekend. laura ingraham, how was your weekend? >> laura: it was nice actually enjoyed a couple days off hannity it was a lot of fun. but boy we have a big news night tonight. >> sean: big news night lot of elections i know you have it covered wall to wall. >> laura: thanks sean. i am laura ingraham this is the ingraham angle on a super charged tuesday tonight. 10:00 a.m. in the evening in taiwan and speaker pelosi just met with the taiwanees and china
7:01 pm
offers more threats nearby. state side a number of critical republican primaries have the attention of washington and bedminster. looks like we already have winners if you can believe it or not inner missouri and michigan and the polls have just closed in arizona. now this hour's going to be a high wire act as we bring you all of these breaking stories but we begin tonight with threats and truth. that is the focus of tonight's angle. >> five years ago, speaker visit taiwan. it was completely wrong. the u.s. draw a lesson from it instead of making repeated mistakes. >> laura: it's now, well, let me just tell you one thing. 10:00 a.m. in taiwan and, to her credit, nancy pelosi didn't back down when china essentially threatened to shoot her plane out of the sky. now she's been the ground for what, about 12 hours or so landing here just after 10:30 a.m. eastern today.
7:02 pm
we're going to bring you news about the specifics of her meetings at any moment. now, remember, trip details have been largely kept under wraps due to the security concerns. but by going ahead with this trip, nancy pelosi is defying the white house and ignoring the threats made by chinese communist party leadership. >> sovereignty cannot be infringed and chai knees people cannot be humiliated and china cannot be stopped, the poa will not stay idle. >> laura: now think about all those american companies like nike and all the hedge funders like larry, the billions they make in china, the country that considers a brief visit by nancy pelosi, with a long-time ally like taiwan a humiliation. and then it uses it as a pretext to activate its military. now speaker pelosi has
7:03 pm
demonstrated that supporting the ccp is inconsistent with modern day liberalism. and when that happens most in the establishment, they didn't get angry with china, they got angry with pelosi. >> there was no immediate reason why the speaker had to go to taiwan. there's no change in the fundamentals of u.s. policy. >> right now is a time to have good relations with china, open dialogue, and not doing anything to provoke them. i wouldn't be poking the bear right now. >> laura: don't poke the bear. well, mitch mcconnell and some of the more establishment-type republicans stood up to the prc. >> i think it's important that the speaker did go to taiwan. i don't think the chinese get to tell members of congress where they can go. >> laura: now, this moment has forced the establishment to acknowledge some very unpleasant
7:04 pm
truths about china that they've tried to keep hidden for years. president xi is an evil dictator who doesn't want to just crush taiwan just as he crushed hong kong, but ultimately he wants to dominate us as well. yet the biden administration, they still refuse to grasp or respond to this threat. now this just isn't the opinion of the angle, listen to obama's former ambassador to china. >> poor joe biden looks weak because he either told her not to go looks weak in the chinese eyes or he's weak because he told her not to go and she wasn't anyway and that makes us look a little bit weak to the chinese. chinese understand strengths better than any other country and they can smell weakness a hundred miles away. >> laura: and weakness is what they're smelling here. for the week leading up to pelosi landing in taiwan, the pentagon and the white house were panicking and waving her off. the fact is, they all know we aren't ready for a conflict with
7:05 pm
china. they just didn't want us to know that. but now we do, despite our $800 billion per year in military spending, which is not prepared for president xi's challenge. now thanks to china's admission into the world trade organization 21 years ago, and our idiotic trade policy pre trump, china now has a larger standing army than we have. marinate on that for a second. so bottom line, all the establishment's coddling of the ccp has empowered them and weakened us. and now we find ourselves more vulnerable militarily and economically. and all these supply chain issues we're dealing with expose how stupid and how reckless our establishment was. but now isn't a time to just cry over all the spilled milk. if you think we are too depend onto china for key supplies then it's time for us to build new
7:06 pm
supply chains. if you think we need a army that hasn't been who will odd out by wokeness then it's time to reform the military. if you think that the chinese are prepared to sacrifice for their country and yet we americans are not prepared to do so for our own, then let's think about how we can start teaching young people to love america instead of hating her. but don't keep pretending that we can give in to president xi's demands over and over again without those demands getting worse. today he's telling us who can visit taiwan, tomorrow he may be telling us what we can say about china, even at home. now this is already happened in the film industry, hasn't it? the future of america belongs to the political movement that best recognizes the danger of president xi and figures out the best strategy to keep us all living from china's vice grip. and, by the way, don't, for a moment, fall in with any of the cynics who say, oh, we can't
7:07 pm
untangle from china at this point. we're too e megsed with china. they're wrong. we have a system that delivered the highest standard of living in the world, over 320 million people from all different backgrounds and ethnicities. they have a giant prison camp. we're talking about, i don't know, winnie the pooh can get you sent away for years. yeah we've been sloppy and yeah we've made mistakes. but instead of wining about how hopeless our position is, the time has come for all of us to live in the truth about what we're facing. >> there is just no country that presents a broader threat to our ideas, our innovation, and our economic security, than china. >> laura: finally that guy's right about something. and, of course, xi makes mistakes as well. the more he issues threats, the better america's going to look. if you live in korea or japan or
7:08 pm
india or australia or new zealand, you should be thinking, uh-oh, we could be next. unless that is the americans are strong enough to hold them off. so this isn't a day for hand ringing, not even a day for recriminations against all those politicians, you know who you are by the way, both parties who the whole china situation. today is a day to come to terms that president xi and the ccp are the single most dangerous threat to us and the world and it's time to change course before it's too late. and that's the angle. >> all right, joining me now is gordan chang, gain stone institute senior fellow and author of the great china tech war. gordon within the last hour or so we learned that pelosi visited parliament and did meet with the taiwanees president we haven't seen a response from china yet but will they ramp up the threat and will those
7:09 pm
threats turn into real action? >> china has to do something laura because they made this a test of wills and it is important for speaker pelosi to go and actually be photographed. that's the most important thing. you know, the new york times say, oh, this is just symbolic. well, for people in an insecure tow tarnism state it's everything. what speaker pelosi said to people in taiwan people in the world people in america is that we will not be intimidated. this is important because if she didn't go we would have been emboldening the worst elements of the chinese political system by showing that intimidation of america works. this is a great day for america. >> laura: now the biden administration, gordon, it keeps distancing itself from pelosi. here was john kirby today. >> when the speaker of the house says we stand with taiwan, america stands with taiwan, how
7:10 pm
can the chinese construe that as anything else but that you're sporting its independence? >> i'll let the speaker speak for herself. we do not support taiwan independence, and nothing has changed. >> laura: now, gordon, what does that response mean for folks out there watching who don't understand the nuances of this relationship. >> yeah, that response is basically communist party talking points. kirby actually saying what beijing wants him to say. and, you know, biden has made this problem worse. he started doing that on july 20th when he said to reporters, oh, the pentagon doesn't think that the speaker's trip is a good idea. because what he was saying to beijing was, look, our administration is divided. come in and intimidate us some more and that is, in fact, what happened laura because the already dire sounding threats became even more dire after president biden's comments. this became a real test ofless, because biden wouldn't support the speaker of the house.
7:11 pm
>> laura: now, gordon, some of my good friends disagree with my analysis, your analysis of the situation. i think this is an invaluable important moment for the united states. because the establishment can't hide anymore. they can't kind of paper this over. they're literally threatening, in not so many words, to shoot her plane out of the sky. and they're like, oh, let's do more business with china, let's drop the tariffs on china. let's enrich china. what the heck has that strategy gotten us over the last 20 years? >> it's gotten us into a very dangerous situation where there are no good options. on thursday, when xi jinping threatened biden, basically threatened the life of the president by saying that those who would play with fire will perfect i shall. you know, biden should have hung up the phone. instead, we get language from the white house readout about the necessity of the deepening communication to work with china in areas where we agree.
7:12 pm
you know, china looks at that and says, we own the oval office. so this is a time where the united states needs to stand together and we need a president who is willing to defend the united states instead of just propel gating communist party talking points. >> laura: gordon we really appreciate you tonight especially of all nights. thank you so much >> now tonight is arguably the big pest primary night to date here in the united states, key races especially in the gop side will be decided in five states. fox's own chief political anchor bret baier has some details on some of these big calls that have just been made. brett. >> hey laura, yeah, big night. five states, one of them just getting a call and that is the senate race in the state of missouri. eric schmitt will win that republican primary. this is the seat, remember, of retiring roy blunt, a republican. this state leans republican, but
7:13 pm
this was a massive win for schmitt. you'll remember former president trump had that endorsement that really perked everybody's ear he said i endorse eric, there were two erics, eric greitens and eric schmitt. eric schmitt took that endorsement. look at all the yellow throughout the state. if you dip into a couple counties, st. louis county, look at this lead, 58% to his nearest challenger, vicky hartzler. if you just go up here, saint charles county, again, 56%. and then lincoln county, 48%. in some of these counties just a complete blowout. so this was predicted to be very close at one point. this is not close at all for this, so it's a big win for eric schmitt. on the democratic side, it is a bit more of a race, bush valentine versus kuntz. we don't know yet, 56% in, but, again, this senate seat leans towards the republicans heading into this race.
7:14 pm
if we look at another call tonight, and this is the governor's race, the primary, republican primary in michigan. again, another run away, tudor dixon, who the former president endorsed on friday, she really has dominated this race all across the state of michigan. she will face incumbent governor gretchen whitmer seeking a second term on the democratic side. i know you've interviewed her laura. a lot of people think that she's impressive to the point where democrats spent a lot of money trying to attack her, even in this republican primary, and it really wasn't close. if we take a look -- another story line tonight, across the five states are the house races. you have three of them that are incumbents who voted for former president trump's impeachment. they are in tight races, especially the numbers are getting so far, this is very tight in michigan 3, and then as we go -- we talked about the michigan governor's race but we're not going to have numbers
7:15 pm
from arizona until about 11:15 eastern time is what we're being told. being very careful with the numbers in arizona. and for governor, you have the battle between kari lake and karrin taylor robson the former president versus former vice-president as far as endorsement and ballistic missile the endorsement from president trump who would face the democrat incumbent mark kelly. we look to get numbers in the next hour and that should be an interesting race to watch tonight. laura? >> laura: brett, thank you. kind of the establishment versus the america-first types, we're seeing that dynamic play out. but that arizona race is fascinating, really interesting people on both sides. bret, thank you >> and by the way we're hoping one of the winners, tudor dixon, the gop primary winner in michigan is going to join us a little bit later in the hour tonight so stay tuned for that >> but up next, i'm coming to you outside of the minneapolis area where two years after the

minneapolis police but we need to completely dismanning the minneapolis police department. >> laura: tonight we're here just outside of minneapolis a not far from omar's district where everything blew up following george flied. what happened in the sticks sparked nationwide arrest we all remember it and the summer of love 2020, shortly after the riots here ended we came to assess the damage that this once fairly calm community was enduring. it was overwhelming what i saw. i couldn't believe any of it, frankly. and yet the suffering hasn't stopped. the number of minneapolis homicides in the first half of 2022 is 39% higher than they were during the first half of 2019. even the college towns, they're not safe. at the university of minnesota, there were about 2100 criminal incidents reported across the university area neighborhoods. that is up 40% from the prior

academic year. so two years after our trip to this city, we decided to return to see how things have changed, or not, since all this upheaval. we were shocked by what we saw and what we heard, in terms of public safety and commercial activity, the aftermath here is not pretty. unbelievable, the third precinct here that's supposed to keep this about 14,000 square mile safe is abandoned and there is no clear space that they operate from. that was ten weeks from the george floyd riots and not a lot has changed t third precinct is still abandoned. barbed wire up fencing is all fenced off the remnants of it being torched that night, a remnant of anarchy. it's shocked it's allowed to

>> i'd say a good bit of it. and, you know, i can't say enough to my staff and the front line employees to have situational awareness to just be aware because this is not the same city it was a few years ago. >> laura: what do you say to the activists who were pushing for all this reform? a lot of them have left. they've moved on to the next target. >> yeah, been able to have the luxury of working from home or living outside the cities, i'd invite them to go to work with any of the front line workers in the city, whether in la or new york city bodega, we really see what's going on here. really put themselves in the forefront to see the crime going on in the cities lately. >> laura: it's so invaluable to have an actual small business owner and you with your decades of experience in law enforcement, because you both share a similar perspective on this.

this is not -- i keep telling people, this is not political. this is common sense. without safety, you cannot maintain order on the streets. and then businesses don't want to come in and then it's a death spiral. saw it in chicago, seen tonight detroit, seen it in baltimore. i'm worried this is the next spiral from which it's going to be hard to pull ourselves out of. >> this is where we're at in minneapolis right now you're absolutely right. i just talked to residents today who, a couple weeks ago, some folks took over their house in a home invasion, burnt it down. three houses were burnt down. you know, i mentioned the shootings today. there's no fear of consequences. >> laura: none. >> by these violent offenders out here. we have a very week attorney and judicial system that would rather favor violent offenders other than putting people in jail where they belong for violent offenses. there's a time and place for prevention but we're dealing with thugs out there victimizing people each and every day.

there is a big ballot measure in the state of kansas. now, this is how it's written. a yes vote on the measure would remove the state constitution, from the state constitution the right to an abortion and hand the issue to the state legislature. a no vote on this measure would make no changes, keeping abortion rights enshrined in kansas's state constitution. right now no is at 63%, and yes is at 37. and we've got about 85% in. sorry for my drawing there. but it looks like no is going to win. what does that mean? it means that kansas will have those abortion rights enshrined in the state constitution, but it also means something bigger broader for other states. as you know, this will be a battle as we head into some more of these primaries and as we head to the general election in

i'm grateful to all the people here in michigan, i'm grateful for you to have me on tonight just that i can talk to everybody and say on national television, thank you so much. >> laura: tudor dixon, this is going to be one of those gob nahtory races that the nation is watching. and, by the way, this caused quite the commotion during your remarks just a few moments ago. >> business woman and mother far left and career politician and now we have the opportunity to truly hold governor whitmer accountable for the pain she's inflicting on each and every one of us during the past four years. [cheers and applause]. >> laura: tudor how are you driving that message home across michigan? women are birthing parents and men are birthing parents, there's no mothers anymore in the eyes of the left. and we know whitmer doesn't really believe in women and men
7:49 pm
anymore she believes in changing all definitions. >> well, yeah, she's stufrnld on what a woman is, she's called us menstruating people. gross. please never call me a menstruating person, we've been called birthing people. moms are mad. that's one job you can't take away from us, whether we adopted our children or birthed our children, we are mothers. mothers are going to stand up for what is right. they want their name back, but they also want their kids treated right. so we are going to go out there, like i said, with a family friendly message and that's resonating and it's going to. we're going to go across the entire state of michigan talk to everyone we can. we're going to come on your show, we're going to be out there. this is a national race now, when she ran for vice-president it became a national race so thank you gretchen, we will meet you on national tv. >> laura: all right, tudor thank you so much congratulations and back with me now is our panel mollie hemingway steven miller monica crowley. molly this really is a bell

weather in many ways. michigan is a battle ground state, that old rust belt steven and i have talked about it over the years with immigration and jobs and outsourcing and this is going to be a battle royal between dixon and whitmer. >> important race for so many reasons. whitmer made a name for herself by embracing every lock down school lockdowns covid restrictions really did damage to the state for that reason. it's also interesting because the fbi and department of justice have meddled quite a bit in michigan. they got involved, you know, before the last election with their entrapment plot, kidnapping plot. they've been involved in trying to meddle in republican politics, that's a big national issue the two standards of justice that we have seen with the department of justice, completely politicized going after parents. and it will be interesting. michigan is a state that has tended to be very democrat but this is a very strong candidate so i think a lot of people are excited to see what she can do in this very red wave year.
7:51 pm
>> laura: steven, we have a new slogan here on the ingraham angle, it's called no state left behind. we don't think any state of our 50 states should be just cast off by any party but the republican party, no, california, oregon, washington state, connecticut, massachusetts, vermont, maine, michigan, detroit, chicago. none of these place persist have to be governed the way they've been governed and each of them in my view has to be part of an overall 50 state strategy for the conservative movement. time to take them all back. >> amen to that. you saw this recently on the congressional side with my a flores winning in an overwhelmingly democrat district and 84% latino district in the south of texas, a mexican american congresswoman winning an extraordinary victory. because woke policy, the idea of birthing people and menstruating people, the idea that you're going to put critical race

theory and segregate our children by skin color, the idea you're going to let violent criminals out of jail over and over again to re-offend and re-offend and assault our people, open borders no limits whatsoever on immigration, energy prices through the roof, inflation through the roof and basic anti american marxism being pushed at every level of society, this doesn't sell anywhere. and i would say to republicans, this is very important, if you don't crown these issues, you're going to leave so many seats on the tabling in midterms. the polls are tightening because republicans aren't hitting the issues enough. talk about them every single day. >> laura: yeah, never underestimate the gop's ability to screw things up. monica, i want you to listen to some of the coverage on mess nbc about tonight's primaries. watch this. >> we often make the mistake of talking about disinformation and attacks on our democracy as
7:53 pm
though they exist separately from racism. >> absolutely. we need to understand that there are folks that believe this country must remain a white nation in the vein of old europe and will defend it at all costs. democratic shifts represent an extensional threat. >> laura: monica to steven's point just a moment ago, i think this turns off voters. i mean pocketbook stench al issues, pocketbooks and parents are the two things that are going to drive the turnout in november. >> yeah, and i think laura that most of the american people are just exhausted and completely over this kind of identity politics and this woke politicking. i think they've had enough of it. i think they've put up with it for a while but they've seen the end results and they're done with it. it's boring and predictable and destructive on top of it. so i think it's being roundly rejected by the american people. and to your point, laura, about leaving no state or community behind, i think that is
7:54 pm
absolutely essential, because when you're talking about deep blue areas like california or new york or illinois, you know, it is an uphill battle for conservatives or pop lifts particularly state wide but in a lot of these states we've seen over the years that those citizens will put up with a lot until they don't. and i think we have now reached that moment, that tipping point, where you've got people across the board absent, you know, the most progressive kinds of radical voters but i think there are so many that are just ready to take their country back with basic common sense policies and steven. >> laura: they want to follow leaders. >> absolutely. >> laura: all right guys we've got to roll. molly, steven, monica, thank you very much. i have some final thoughts on this chaotic night, a big night. and minneapolis, what we're seeing here again in moments. , . i'm from colorado. i've been married to my high school sweetheart for 35 years. i'm a mother of four-- always busy.

results out of arizona and washington tonight. as i just said, this has to be a 50-state effort. no state, no city, no town in america should be left behind. not to this disastrous leadership from the democrat party. now, that's it for us tonight. remember here in minneapolis, it's america now and forever. gutfeld and all the breaking news next. ♪♪ ♪♪ >> greg: oh, man. wow. wow, wow, wow. happy tuesday, everyone. first, we have to acknowledge the great news. it's great news for you and me and all of america, frankly. yes, larry kudlow's back.
