were you satisfied with any of the answers in the hearing today? >> well, i like and respect director wray but he is not forthcoming. i understand the importance of protecting an investigation. there are growing concerns about the hunter biden revelations. i agree with former attorney general barr. a special counsel needs to be appointed. the independence of the department of justice has been called into question when they have to visiting investigate the administration they serve in. >> john ratliff was on sunday morning. he said this about whistleblower allegations that the fbi suppressed damaging evidence about hunter biden. >> these fbi agents were attempting to inflown the out

agency that i am not sure director wray got rid of. the ones involved in the investigation of the previous administration and all of this cooked up research used against a sitting president. when american people feel like those authorities are used for improper political purposes, it undermines public confidence. that makes them less affectedive. >> president biden has been criticized for a tepid response to china over nancy pelosi's visit and mixed messages as well. do you believe there is any connection between biden's benign language to china and hunter biden's business deal wings that country? >> i don't know the answer to that, john. i know that weakness is a provocation.

putin has taken advantage of this. and president xi perhaps dragging us into a broader military conflict. they are testing president biden. and nancy pelosi comes across a lot tougher than he was. i am glad she made the trip. i was there last november with colleagues as well. they did a lot of sabring but did nothing about it. this is more of the same. but we have to get ready and deter an invasion of taiwan. that's what senator cotton talked about earlier to prevent a war in the first place.

kristin smart's disappearance. earlier this week we heard from students among the last to see her. they also said that she was acting strange that night. not steady on her feet. she looked like she passed out in the back yard but didn't have the smell of alcohol on her breath. what do you make ever that? >> first she was a college student when she disappeared. she was a party. college students maybe don't use the best judgment. but trying to figure out what happened to her, prosecutors to prove that paul flores murdered her, the prosecution has a tough road. why? there is a reason it's been more than a quarter century at bringing the case to trial. for one reason: a lack of evidence to support

the three they paul flores although the last one to be seen with her committed the murder. it's interesting. from the jury's perspective they hear from witnesses available back in 1996. in other words, this trial, if you rewound history this trial could have happened then. why didn't it? a lot of the circumstantial evidence that the prosecution is presenting may or may not lead to some smoking gun. if prosecutors don't have a smoking gun this will be a tough case. evidence doesn't get better with time. it gets worse. where they will take this, we have a long ways to go. this trial is not supposed to end until october. we are in the beginning of august. what else is the prosecution going to give us? >> they have a tough case. the dense has a well known lawyer. robert sanger working on the
