6:01 am
crisis firsthand. >> mayor adams declared an emergency in response to 4,000 asylum seekers coming to new york city over the past three months. he says they are straining the city's shelter system. but, according to governor abbott, that is nothing compared to what texas is dealing with. >> public officials across the country, they do need to realize the magnitude of the chaos created by biden's open border policies. they're up in arms about a few thousand people coming into their communities over the past few months? listen, in any one sector in the state of texas, we have more than 5,000 people coming across that sector every single day. and so, listen, we're full in the state of texas, our committees are overrun and i started bussing people to washington, dc when local officials could not handle the number of people that had come across their border. >> we have team coverage, david spunt at the justice department with breaking details about the
6:02 am
biden administration forcing illegal migrants out of the us while allows buses to bring them in. but first nate reporting live from new york city. good morning, nate. >> good morning, dana and mike. so we've seen thousands of migrants bussed from texas to washington, dc, but this is the very first bus to arrive here in new york city and it got here exactly two hours ago at 7:00 a.m. the green bus circled the blocks in midtown manhattan a few times before eventually pulling into the port authority behind me. that's when a group of about 50 migrants poured out of that bus the majority from venezuela. there were a couple children, couple family units but the vast majority were single adult men. take a look at this video arriving this morning, the group was met by about ten volunteers who provided them with sandwiches and water. i spoke with many migrants as best i could with the language barrier. very few had connections in the united states. they seemed to have very few plans, if any, about what to do now. one volunteer tells fox news today, many of them will end up
6:03 am
in shelters, which as you mentioned mayor adams says are already overrun. we have reached out to the mayor's office this morning. we have not heard back, but he did say this about migrants arriving in new york city yesterday. listen. >> what this texas governor should do is invite those who were trying to find housing in his state to give them housing instead of sending them here. >> mayor adams has a public event at 11:00 a.m. dana. so we're hoping to learn more about his reaction during that. but governor abbott argues this is necessary saying, quote, because of president biden's continued refusal to acknowledge the crisis caused by his open border policies, the state of texas has had to take an unprecedented action to keep our community safe, end quote. here's the governor responding to mayor adams last night. >> the cartels are not looking for housing in texas. actually, the cartels that are coming through texas, they are actually trying to get to new york where they can distribute
6:04 am
the fentanyl that they're bringing across the border. >> so preceding all this governor abbott invited mayor adams to come to texas to see the border crisis for himself, something the mayor declined. the one thing that everyone seems to reon this is the need for more action from the federal government, the biden administration. there's agreement from the mayors of new york and washington, dc as well as governor abbott on that. i can tell you from the group that arrived this morning, again a group of about 50, it appears half of them will be bussed to other cities in the country and half will rely on the resources here in new york city, dana. >> hmm. nate foye in new york city for us as the story develops thank you so much >> a new push to help a group of people known as documented dreamers. there are nearly a quarter million living here in the us. they came here illegally as children but advocates say they have a worse chance of becoming citizens than those who came here illegally.
6:05 am
david spunt has the story from here in washington. good morning, david. >> hi, mike, good morning to you. for years we've been covering children as part of the daca program. they are undocumented immigrants who came here, through no fault of their own, with their parents illegally. this is a group -- this story today focuses on what is called documented dreamers. more than 200,000 are living in the united states. they follow the rules. they've done all the paperwork and they came here on a parental visa when they were young. i want to introduce everyone right now to a man named patel, in his early 20s, born in india but after a stop in canada came to united states legally on his parents work visa when he was nine years old. we interviewed him on fox news three years ago, country cap op certain employment, visas, means whens the 200,000 plus like him turn 21 age out of the system and in some case resist deported. >> we are termed as documented dreamers. that's to emphasize that we are
6:06 am
children who grew up here, but we did have some sort of a documented legal status. but unfortunately those have prevented us from getting a pass. >> patel and others in his group improved the work for years to try to bring awareness to documented dreamers to members of congress to former president josh w bush had a meeting with him earlier this year. advocates on both sides of the aisle in congress are looking out for this specific group, improve the dream. congresswoman from iowa was one of the first members to raise her hand to help 18 months ago. >> we need these young talented young people who have, you know, gone to both elementary, middle school, high school and college educations here in the state. unlike, you know, talk of other individuals who come here illegally through no fault of their own, these young people are here with their parents. >> mike, she was one of the originals behind america's children act.
6:07 am
it passed in part in the house earlier this year. it's part of now the national defense authorization act up before the senate. those are hopeful it will pass in a few months then it will go to president biden. if it passes they are optimistic president biden supports this. if it does pass and signed into law it will give these 200,000 a little more breathing room to stay in the united states, really the only country they've known. mike. >> we'll follow it, david spunt live here in washington. david, many thanks >> in a fox news alert on the economy, the u.s. adding a surprising 528,000 jobs last month. that is twice as many as analysts were predicting. unemployment drops 3.5%. what in the world is going on? let's bring in maria bart roma. that's a huge jobs number how do you bring this into account when we had the gdp number last week saying two negative numbers of growth in a row. >> well, good morning to you,
6:08 am
dana. we have the good news and the bad news here. first, the top line number, the headline here, this is a block buster report. this is much higher than anybody was expecting. 528,000 jobs created in the month of july is more than double the expectations which called for job growth of 250,000. all areas of the economy actually saw job growth including leisure, hospitality, the services industry, the industrial industry. that's all good news. the bad news, this ensures that we are going to see a federal reserve that stays as aggressive as ever. the markets right now are pricing in, a 65% chance that the federal reserve raises interest rates by another 75 basis points in the next meeting which is in september. we are waiting for the jackson hole event which is where federal reserve officials gather. that will be news worthy in the coming weeks to find out how the
6:09 am
fed will deal with a jobs market that is still the federal reserve will continue raising interest rates aggressively, making borrowing more expensive and holding. also bad news is what you just mentioned, how do you have an economy that generates jobs at same time of being technically in a recession, two quarters of retraction is what we just saw. first half in recession, but jobs in july of 527,000, what does that tell you? that tells you that productivity is plunging, partly because of stimulus being thrown at people giving them more incentive to stay home. the participation point is down to a level of 62.1, the number
6:10 am
of people looking for jobs is down because they don't want to get back into the labor force, they have enough stimulus coming at them with the most recent chips package and new package joe manchin has agreed to, we're watching that. i just want to say, this is a good story, good for the american people to see this job creation, i am question figure this pace can continue, given the fact we have seen a sharply slowing economy and will continue to slow as fed takes rates even higher. >> can you help then with news we have that kyrsten sinema, senator from arizona had been a hold-out on build back better law, the inflation reduction act. they will take out that provision and she will be a yes, i know that you have 230 economists sent a letter about
6:11 am
433 billion in spending, it will not impact inflation? what is the impact of her yes vote on moms and dads across the country? >> look where we came from, when joe biden walked into the oval office, and he signed into law the covid relief package at 1.9 million and inflation up to 9.1%. bottom line, stimulus matters. what is going on about the senators? me, me, me and my state. joe manchin is getting promises to get permits and utilize energy expertise in west virginia. kyrsten sinema is agreeing because she's getting what her donors wanted, that is no tax of carried interest. it is incredible to me they can say yes to a package that will impact the entire country just because they are getting what
6:12 am
they want for their own state and their own donors, but that is what is going on. we all saw similar situation around the chips bill, number of republicans and congressmen said i will buy into it if my state gets something, let's get money to some industries, a lot of money going to the semiconductor industry, donors again. the senators are signing on to this more stimulus knowing the stimulus because they are getting something specific to their state and donorings and that's unfortunate. >> maria, thank you for being with us, big news and your expertise is appreciated. beijing is tightening its grip on taiwan circling the island with war planes and missiles after nancy pelosi's trips and
