night. jeff paul is live in dallas with the very latest, hey, jeff. jeff: the results from the poll are in and former president clearly still the most favored person when it comes to a possible 2024 presidential run and when you look at the numbers, it wasn't even close. 69% of attendees who were polled on this prefer former trump -- former president trump over other people who were on there, roughly only 24% preferred florida governor desantis and when they removed trump from the equation, desantis was the clear winner. very similar results. attendees we spoke with aren't at all surprised by the results of the draw poll and either former president trump as he molds possibly running in 2024. >> i want to thank you for your incredible support also because i just walked in the door and

told me i had a straw poll. >> when attendees were asked about most important issues election integrity led the way followed by immigration and energy independence and much to a surprise inflation was down at the bottom at number 5. griff. griff: that is quite a surprise, indeed. jeff paul for us live in dallas. jeff, thank you. all right, let's go to our political panel. joining us erin pareni, vice president at strategies and former communications director for texas senator ted cruz and laura fink, democratic strategist. laura, let's start with you as we watched the senate's -- democrats in the senate looking to narrowly pass the 700 billion-dollar bill that they say will give americans relief when it comes to the health provisions and of course combating climate change, why is this win, will this be a win for the american people by in large?

>> well, i will go with what joe manchin said about it that this is a red, white and blue bill. this is $300 billion in deficit reduction and you're putting money back in the pockets to have american people by lowering utility costs, by lowering their healthcare costs and by lowering their prescription drug costs all really huge for everybody across the political spectrum and i think this is a huge win for president biden but also for the swing states and swing democrats that have name on ballot, this is substantive relief for the american people while making historic investments and green jobs in investment in the long term. big win. griff: erin, how do you see it? >> you have 230 economists saying that this will only add fire to the inflation crisis and what are democrats doing right now in washington, they are not trying to tackle the inflation crisis. they are going to make it worse. we have a border crisis, a drug

crisis, an economic crisis, an energy crisis in the country and what are democrats focused on? trying to pad the pockets for those who deserve it the most, their friends in the energy industry that they favor. this is not going to help the american people and certainly not in the near term. people care right now about the economy, about inflation and about crime raging in this country. none of which democrats are trying to tack until this bill and they will force it down american people's throats and so democrats trying to say that this does anything in the near term is an absolute fallacy, tackle the problems that joe biden has created instead of trying to perpetrate and continue to push a far-left wing agenda. griff: laura, even senator bernie sanders questioning whether this will actually reduce inflation, the bill's name is inflation reduction act. >> it is the inflation reduction act and there's some disagreement between economists over that but what we do know is that it puts money in the

pockets of americans, it lowers utility costs, the healthcare costs are not in dispute. those are big deals. americans when they get to their kitchen tables know that they want things to be a little more fair. they want to have those -- those costs reduced and this does this in a substantive way and how does it do it, it taxes billionaire corporations and taxes -- make sure that tax cheats that have very high incomes are paying their fair share to the government. griff: wait a minute, is it going to do that? as we heard from chad pirgram, there's discussion, sounds like manchin and republican senator john thune in discussions about this 15% minimum corporate tax rate which is one of the biggest revenue raisers in the bill. you will have a hard time paying for it if you don't accomplish that. ultimately is this not arriving at what they had hoped? >> i don't see that. i think that voterama, you have

a lot of conversations and up and down votes. it's chaotic. i will say this it's going to come out on the other side because it's too important and we have to close hoop holes and companies making money hand over even with inflation pay fair share and get the money back in the pockets of everyday americans. griff: we will see exactly what we get and we may get final vote in this hour or if not very soon. erin, let me ask you, do you think that democrats have really caved or is it just negotiations to get something across the finish? senator sanders who i mentioned obviously having to give on this sort of taxing billionaires which he and senator warren have long made their crying call. >> well, voteramas are a painful process and they take a lot of hours and a lot of votes. but what you're seeing right now is democrats forcing the american people to ultimately pay more for everything. when they go ahead and they raise taxes on anybody, it always gets passed down to the

consumer. that's not going to help people right now. as democrats, they will stay in line, this is not helping the american people. more irs agents are not what the american people are asking for. they are asking for gas prices to be lower like they were in the trump administration and not over $4 a gallon. how is that anything that we should be celebrating? democrats get with the reality that the american people care and they could not afford things as before because you continue to fuel an inflation crisis. president reagan had a great line in debates versus jimmy carter when he said inflation is not a problem because american people are living too well but inflation is a problem because the government is living too well. the government right now -- >> i don't know if you noticed. >> they were under $2 a gallon under president trump. >> did biden get credit for that? griff: laura, i will give you

what's going on. griff: well, you can see the fullness of it right here on fox news channel and only on fox news channel as we look at our fox flight team, our drone high above the rio grande in eagle pass, texas, in del rio sector, more than 1500 encounters with migrants in the last 24 hours, nearly 400,000 have come into just that texas sector alone unprecedented. something officials have never seen there. that sector 100% up from this time last year, last year the most ever on record. and migrants are continuing to cross into the u.s. in droves despite the triple-digit heat and texas governor greg abbott handling the crisis by sending migrants to dc and new york. but let's start with bill melugin on the ground.

it's been busy, bill. bill: griff, good afternoon to you. it certainly has. many migrants who are ending up in new york city or washington, d.c. are crossing illegally where we are in eagle pass, texas and very few of them are title 42. you mentioned more than 1500 crossings here in the last 24 hours, dhs number showing only 386 title 42 expulsions. group of 200 that crossed illegally in primed orchard. you can see many of them almost all of them single adult men primarily from venezuela and cuba. they are marching in single file lines but they are not being taken into custody by border patrol. texas dps are taking to buses and transporting them back to the port of entry where they will be dropped off into federal

custody. some of them might end up in washington, d.c. or new york but incredibly hot out here, dangerous for the migrants to cross. case in point, take a look at tragic photo. severely dehydrated and told them they had been lost for about 11 days. troopers went into the brush and found the corpse of this man tragically just goes to show he had succumb to the elements and it's brutally hot out here in summer months elsewhere along the border. take a look at the mug shot, this is a convicted rapist arrested after crossing near douglas, arizona in border patrol tucson sector, mexican national, saúl garcia ibarra, conviction of first-degree rape in salt lake, utah. take a look at photo here.

with migrants. nate has been tracking arrival of the buses. hey, nate. >> the feud between greg abbott and new york city mayor adams saying as more migrants arrive in new york city. >> this is horrific when you think about what the governor is doing, the governor of texas after months of traveling across the border, placing them on the bus with no direction to come here to new york. >> take a look at this, griff, these are the migrants on the second bus arriving in new york city from texas. this is at the port authority this morning. mayor adams says the city will step up and take of the migrants but also says more help is needed from the biden administration. another thing to note that's interesting this morning, when the bus arrived, mayor adams says that it appears some migrants are missing.

>> about 14 people were dropped off here, but there are many rumors out there and so we don't know if people are being dropped off at different locations in route once they come near new york city. we were led to believe about 40 people should have been on the bus, only 14 got off. >> mayor adams blames fear and confusion for those missing migrants but that's something the city is trying to work out and comes after two days after first bus arrived in new york city. you see that here. texas governor abbott has been busing migrants to washington, d.c. for months. he says 6500 have arrived since april and it's all part of his plan to force the biden administration to finally acknowledge the crisis at the southern border. >> the more they see the numbers rise, the more they are going to be asking the federal government and it's going to create a situation for the biden administration where they are trying to help the liberal

watched horrifyingly a migrant drowned and nothing they could do about it, a body being pulled. does this administration not put emphasis on migrant safety? >> absolutely not. when you have open border, since 70% are offline many are coming across that don't want to be caught and they are going in the brush and dying in the texas heat. that's what makes me so passionate about the this issue. then we had the tractor trailer in san antonio. secured border save lives. that's what i said to maria bartiromo, how many migrants didn't die because they weren't taking the trip? if you take 83%, you have less highway deaths. if you take 83% less illegal aliens coming across the border, less people die.

dress rehearsal and what do you see the timeline of a potential invasion? >> well, i think that the chinese military itself has said they are not yet ready to do everything. they project 2027 to be when the pla will be as they phrase it fully mechanized and the greatest invasion in 2027. however, what we are seeing right now significant increase in chinese pressure. we see missile flights over the island, something that has not happened before but also it's an interesting political signal to the united states. in 1996 when china fired off taiwan. now no one is suggesting the u.s. should do that because the balance of power has shifted and china today would hold those carriers with much more risk than 25 years ago. griff: we are keeping a close watch as tensions escalate.

northern part of gaza and most of them intercepted by the iron dome and distance a few moments ago we heard strikes, the israelis responding as this is escalating with the range of the rockets targeting both jerusalem and tel aviv. here is what it looked like just about an hour and a half ago along the israel-gaza border. looks like we don't have the sound from this video but there was a number of barrages that were fired from the northern part of gaza and these were long-range rockets which is significant because it's often a red line for the israelis as they try to stop this fire from gaza and from groups like islamic jihad. now the big question tonight is whether or not a ceasefire will go into effect. there are negotiators and death
